Got a feeling it could be this, even though I'm constantly using it... (Settings > System > Power > Screen)

So I don't know if anyone else has come across this problem, but the my new Surface Pro '5' (in normal use) will just randomly go to a black screen, as if it's asleep. However I have to turn the device back on, it shows the Windows logo, and then when I re-login, everything is where I left it.

It's like it just randomly goes into hibernate, even though that's no longer a thing with Windows.

Anyone know of any fixes?

Run a malware scan, and check for updates. Have you messed with the registry at all?

All updated. Haven't messed with anything, literally out of the box, brand new.

It's driving me insane, it's turned off 4 times in the past two hours.

Literally all that it has installed on it is the Adobe CC Suite and the Microsoft Office 365 Suite.

It's completely clean...

Check your settings and see if there's some weird power saving feature or something.

Yeah. Best to turn off any of Windows 10's location and telemetry features, unless you actually use them. They just seem to cause trouble.

Well I use the Spybot Anti-Beacon so I can disable most of that stuff. Anyway I'll wait and see if it decides to die again.

So just turning off "Save me power when my device know's i'm away" seems to have fixed it.

Typing with a Bluetooth keyboard, using a wireless mouse, and sitting in front of the Windows Face Recognition camera, and it still thought I was away... -_-

Turned it off and I've been using it for another three or so hours and it's been fine. So that's the problem -_-

At least it wasn't more serious...
