AMD Discontinues HD 7850 1GB Graphics Cards.

TechFan@ic

With the release of the HD 7790, AMD officially stopped the production of its HD 7850 1GB cards due to the GDDR5 memory modules it uses being discontinued.

So if you want an HD 7850 1GB card you better grab one now while supplies last.

What?! That's the best value card for price to performance ratio and the Nvidia GTX650ti Boost is just around the corner now. I've seen some specs leak for the GTX650ti Boost and will be probably competing against the 7850 in that price point.

Hmm, wonder if AMD will consider cutting the price a bit for the 2GB versions so it replaces the current(and almost gone?) 1GB.

What a shame indeed, the HD 7850 1GB offered an enormous value for money @ 170$ probably the best value for money of any card this generation.

Thought this may happen. Means people may look to the 7870 instead, means more profits. Having smaller performance differences between cards mean people are more likely to settle for the lesser card, therefore (probably) lesser profit for AMD. Wouldn't be surprised if more GCN 1.1 cards are released this year and they do the same with the older models.
