Truecrypt

Anyone still use or would use this software?

I never followed up as to why they discontinued development, claimed it to be unsecured, despite being flawlessly written, and recommended bitlocker.

I still have the original, latest version of the software saved in another HDD

Hi, WindirBear. I wouldn't recommend using TrueCrypt. Use VeraCrypt. It's the continued version of TrueCrypt and is more secure as it is updated frequently.

Well, I wasn't actually asking for a recommendation but thank you.

VeraCrypt I believe has been known to have at least one previous security vulnerability. I do not believe that that is the same for TrueCrypt, I might be wrong.

Hi, Brick. I mean, IAmLamp.

Some of the changes they made from TrueCrypt are in that discussion link.

its been ages since I heard mention of truecrypt. Nothing bad was done by truecrypt they just became obsolete with MS and linux having built in encryption. It might not be wise to use it now because of its age

Well, I remember no one trusting bitlocker xD I just found it odd the project had been put down and recommended bit locker.

i think its widely acknowledge that the best encryption is developed through the open source, publicly audit-able model but MS won't have any of that

I still use it on daily basis. Nothing wrong with it. I don't have encrypted system drive but have encryption where I hold my certificates, source code etc.

It looks like s**t on mac but, hey. It works and that is important
