Is a pre-built still worth it??

                     Are "Pre-Builts" worth it,

Okay maybe prebuilts , arent the most VALUE, but maybe Linus or any of the LMG members e.g. Chelsea or Tyler or any of the new members can do a review, maybe like the Alienware Alpha R2 or a Digital Storm PC or anything because changing your own oil in a car is easy, but people still take it to the mechanics , (Similar to PC's)

I know they are getting more competitive in terms of pricing... maybe it'll be worth it eventually but even if it's the same price I'd still say build cause its more fun that way :b

I absolutely agree, 100% but some people CANT or just dont have the time for it, so I see both ends

They sell you on the specs and numbers but cut you on things like brands and models of things. It will have 16Gbs of RAM and a GTX1060 but the 1060 will be the worst 1060 you can find with a single blower style fan on it and the memory will be some brand you never heard of at 1200Mhz. Same with hard drives and SSDs. The SSDs are usually SATA based so the speed gains are nothing. Hard drives are usually some chin ease company or the lowest end models that are 7200RPM but fail like crazy. Now this isn't to say all prebuilts are like this but they have to make money some how

Just keeping this here as a I DO Agree with you but some people dont want to build a PC just a outta the box experience , so this does have better value I rather not dive into the debate but this does save you $50-$300 building fee

yea but for some people it is too hard so I rather build while some rather just buy stock, which thats why there is a market out for them

Doh, I forgot the PSU... too busy looking for cases.

 

The best pre-built paths are usually finding a PC with a decent CPU (i5) and power supply for cheap, then popping in a GPU you buy separately.  Every now and then you will find one with a decent midrange GPU at a good price.
