My motherboard auto overclocks

When I set mobo defaults, my mobo (ASUS Z170-A) auto overclocks my Skylake Intel i5 6600k to 4.4 ghz, and the voltage to something automatic. Why is this happening? Why doesnt it run at stock 3.5 ghz? And stock voltage? Why?

is everything on auto in your bios? I have an x99 Asus mobo and I know they have preset overclocking options so it's possible that your mobo has that enabled. Make sure you have everything set to auto. Also update the BIOS.
