How to run a Hue+ without a USB header?

TubsAlwaysWins

Anyone know how I can run a NZXT Hue+ without a USB 2.0 header and without running a cable out of my case?

USB 3 splitter down to a USB 2.0?

your motherboard doesn't have a usb 2 header?

anyway you could use a usb 3.0 to usb 2.0header.

Yeah I could. Just the ability to run my cases headers would be nice as well.

So I would need a USB 3.0 splitter, A usb 3.0 to 2.0, a usb 2.0 splitter

You could always get a pcie to USB card. They usually add a couple of ports to the back of the case and give a header inside.

Yeah. The placing of the 6 pin power for the Mobo is also garbage. My cases basement blocks it

There are also other models which use sata instead of Molex for power, and have an angled USB connector. Just search "usb 3 card" on ebay.

i hope the only local shop i can find has serious bawlz asking €300 for that mobo, because that is seriously a disgrace.

if you're okay with sacrificing a usb 3.0 header, this will be your best bet:

(ask a local shop if they have one, that'll be your best bet IMO.)

other than that, you can use your only pcie 4x slot (evga... what the hell were you guys thinking...) to slap a pcie usb 2.0 expansion card in, but they are seemingly a very rare find...

Actually, I found out it's quite the opposite. It's rare for a card to offer the headers, I had to specifically look for one.

I'm surprised no one has suggested this.  If you have a USB on your motherboard, use this little device from NZXT which takes a power supply and gives you 4-5 more USB headers to work with.

I own one and it works perfectly and supplies my USB 2.0 headers perfectly with 5v.

I just don't have a USB header. Thats the problem

I agree this will work and you can use one of those USB hubs from NZXT then to have more than one.
