4k 60Hz vs 1440p 144Hz

144Hz may look better for fast paced games, but it won't make you a better player.  4K is pleasing to look at outside of gaming too, like on the desktop. Unless you really absolutely need to have 100% scaling.

If you do a lot of other things outside of gaming, I'd say get a 4K monitor.

Hello,

I want to buy a new monitor for gaming and I found these two : Acer xb281hk 4k 60hz and Acer xb271hu 1440p 144Hz.

Both are gsync compatible, but the 4k one is about 80$ cheaper than the 1440p one.

Wich one would you recommend? 4k or 144Hz? I'll have a gtx 1070 coming in a couple weeks

Gaming rig : i5 6600k | EVGA 1070 FTW | 16Go DDR4 HyperX Fury | Intel 600p - WD Black

Laptop : Macbook 2017

Home server : AMD A10 7700k | 2*2TB unraid array + 250GB ssd cache

Is 21:9 an option? Because that's what I would go for

Depends on what games you want to play.

These days, I mainly play Overwatch, but I often play games like Witcher 3 or Skyrim. I don't really play that much more fps

I already got a 21/9 monitor, I'll keep it, but want a new monitor to play 16/9 games and can't choose between 4k or 1440p :/ (I know, first world problems :P )

It is xD

I would say for fps or racing games 1440p 144hz and for singleplayer games like Skyrim etc. 4k 60hz. Depends on what you play mostly

@Mobby Dick @M.Yurizaki I think I'll go with 4k, but do you think gsync would be worth it at max 60 fps?
