Need Help with PC Build

D3faulT

So I am working on finalizing my PC parts. I am trying to cut down the cost a little bit while keeping performance in tact, I left the OS and monitor in as I am counting it as the cost of my PC.

Q

Here is a little reasoning as to why I am upgrading:

I currently run on a acer laptop with a 940m, and a 15-2000 or something and it is simply not cuting it. Its a great PC, but when im home I need something more powerful.

Price im hoping to get for both parts and os/monitor:

$1000-$1200

Parts are solid, but I'd take another look at that case and PSU.

also, you can get windows a lot cheaper elsewhere, use the cash you save on the above.

Different PCPartPickers for different countries:

UK-----Italy----Canada-----Spain-----Germany-----Austrailia-----New Zealand-----'Murica-----France-----India

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

Also there are better mobo choices, the Z170 Extreme 6 is to me a clear choice for 150USD motherboard.

Imho. The case is fine. I agree with the asrock z170 extreme 6. And it is always better to get a more efficient gold rated PSU. Its worth it. Especially when overclocking, which I imagine you want to do. Fyi....the ddr4 3000 memory  and cheap PSU could hold back your max overclock.

What do you plan on doing with your PC?

I plan on doing high end graphic gaming, auto desk apps such as maya/ inventor on the side, etc.

Should I go for a Gold Rated PSU or lower watts?

I have taken the feedback and have made changes to the PSU, Case, Cooler and Memory. Thoughts?

New Parts:

CRYORIG H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory

Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case

EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

I also added speakers and keyboard to my price:

Corsair STRAFE Wired Gaming Keyboard

Looks good to me. If you want you can still do ddr4 2400mhz or up to 2666mhz. Above that it really is dependent on how good that CPUs memory controller is while also doing a high overclocked(aka 4.5hgz+.

I would say a descent overclock combined with ddr4 2666 is achievable, but the performance gains from memory are minute compared to the performance gains achieved with increasing clock speeds.

If you want to keep the 2133 ram...you won't notice the difference.
