Is there any revolutionary camera optic/sensor for smartphone is announced or is known to be in development?

I just got a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge which uses a Sony IMX260.

 

I am wondering if there is significantly better camera optic/sensor than the one in S7 Edge?

Yeah, we're all just a bunch of idiots experiencing nothing more than the placebo effect.

Nothing outside of rumours, 

 

The panasonic CM1 has a 1" sensor which is INSANE as thats what an RX100 camera has inside so probably the best smartphone camera around if you ask me, but the phone is only "okay"

 

but for "regular" phones the S7 is probably top right now

See if Apple have anything interesting in the iPhone 7
