Is EBay Worth It?

So I've finally decided on a build I've been wanting to get for a while now.

i5 4690k, 16gb of RAM, gtx 970, etc.

However, recently I've looked at ebay, and even including shipping, and currency conversion, the prices are significantly cheaper, enough to get a 980 SC for the same price as I was going to get my 970 Strix.

I've heard that some parts are worth buying 2nd hand, and some aren't... But I've forgotten what those parts are .-.

Can someone please update me?

There are people from Australia who buy/sell stuff, no where near as often as United States but there is some.
