Are 120Hz LCD's good?

orangecat

I have a 22 inch LCD that runs at 60Hz. it is a IPS type panel and it has a ok amount of motion blur and its perfectly fine for gaming. I have a old CRT from 2003 that I used to use all the time back in the day and it still works just fine. i was playing BattleField 3 today and I noticed that I was much better at playing with the CRT running at 800x600 with a refresh rate of 110Hz. Maybe I just got lucky but I feel as I am much better at higher refresh rates but I can't spend the money on a LCD that is 120Hz because i think there will be motion blur and the image won't look as smooth as my CRT. When i play on my CRT the image is so smooth and fast it almost feels unreal but I like it. I do want a LCD that can give me the same performance as my old CRT display but i don't know of the perfect one. I do like features but I am willing to sacrifice some to have a faster panel. Basically what is the fastest LCD monitor that I can get that is 1920x1080 and 22-24 inches. I want next to no motion blur and as close to a CRT like feel.

Current LCD: LG Flatron W2253V

Old CRT: Philips 107E5

Monitors I am considering:

and Linus said you have to use displayport. Is that true because my GTX 460 doesn't have displayport.

That or a dual link DVI connection--which the 460 should have.

Dual link is not two DVI cables but instead a single cable using one DVI port.

Yes, according to the Asus website: https://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/VG248QE/

It's 1ms latency @ 144Hz. I think this is the most reasonably priced monitor for it's speed and caliber. The Asus monitor is very fast and is great for its price.

I'm sure there are faster monitors out there but not nearly as budget friendly.
