Ram overheating?

hey guys i just installed arctic cooling xtreme 4 on my r9 290x, mini itx mobo, but it was not fitting due to the backplate interfering with the ram so i took out the heatsink of the ram to install the card, one side of the ram kinda goes inside the backplate heatsink of the arctic cooling xtreme 4, when i play games the computer's screen goes blank. is that causing that?

my ram in my render rig a g.skill ripjaws z one of the ram had a broken heat cover. when it is removed it doesn't even let my pc turn on without bombing me with beeps but just using electric tape and tape it in and now it's working (been like that since december 2013. dunno what happened though was over seas and came home like that. (must be my nephew).
