2.5" SSD recommendations

Really I'm just seeing what luck all of you have had long term with whatever SSD you chose. My best experience was with the Intel 545s. I bought a few back when they were cheap. No problems what so ever and good performance. Samsung 860 Evo gave me problems with older systems like having to use csm to get the system to boot while cloning the drive to a hdd worked fine without...mx500 drives I haven't had a failure but crystal disk starts showing wear without much use. I have a few wd blue drives out there. No failures reported but I haven't seen the systems since install so I can't say anything about wear levels. I may just keep using the blues but I'm looking for a reliable low priced SSD to toss in random systems.

I know you mentioned 2.5'' SSDs but ill throw a story about my M.2 anyway.
Ive used Samsung SSDs for like 6 years now and never had a problem with them (one was 6 years in an older alienware) however ive bought a Samsung SSD 970 EVO 500GB M.2 a year ago and i only had problems with it not registering as a boot drive and it somehow even managed to fry itself (i put a metal cooling fin on it with a thermal pad) It completely roasted itself not even getting recognized by my PC anymore... i also have good airflow in my case as i went for a meshify from fractal design with noctua fans....

Sorry i cant help you with your search even tho i still recommend Samsungs 2.5'' SSDs as long as you dont get the QVO ones

The m.2 form doesn't come up as often for me. I'm usually working on stuff to old to use nvme as boot. I've used Intel 660p and 665p drives for editing and transcoding drives in a few systems with good luck. No issues to report there either. They don't bench near Samsung but for the dollar they're awesome. I've also used m.2 Sata wd blue drives in a couple sff computers with an adapter card in a pcie slot to add additional drives in some cases. Those fall into the category of not having seen the systems since install.

My current 850 EVO has been with me for around 4 years now and well... I'm not sure if it's the drive, or the board I purchased, or Windows just being Windows, but I've gone through 2 Windows installs in the past month already. One of which lasted for only 3 days before it completely corrupted itself.

I've switched it out with another 850 EVO I had so we'll see what the verdict is. I purchased a FX-6300 with board from my friend so also not ruling out that might be the issue. Or that it doesn't like my RAM...
