Cpu spiking temps in aida64

So my cpu often is spiking in temperature in Aida64 when using the FPU test. Here are some details.

-it seems to happen much less when turning off PBO in bios.

-It seems like aida64 fpu test is the only program this occurs in(making me believe its a problem with aida)

-My motherboard is a b450i ROG strix paired with a R7 2700x

Also, as a side note, I may or may not have screwed up a thermal paste application(see pic below, thermal paste is noctua nt h1)My friend told me that the loop in this application could have caused air bubbles. Is this the case and could be causing my weird temperatures?

Try reinstalling Aida64 and running the test again, that way you know if it was an installation problem. I would assume it happens less when you disable PBO because you processor is running slower, therefore producing less heat.

Take my advice with a grain of salt!
