Best Dual-slot 7970?

BCreation

I would buy the DCUii because I hear its quiet which is what I want and performs well too but it is a three slot cooler. What would be the best next option?

MSI or Sapphire isn't to bad.
Have the fixed the coil whine on the Sapphire 7970s?

I'm not sure about that but do you have any plans to go Crossfire?

Maybe down the line, maybe a couple of months. Why?

If you weren't going for Crossfire, you could get the DCII despite it being a triple slot but if they were crossfired, it would literally be sandwiched together.

The thing with the MSI 7970, is that it has blue leds on it, which doesn't suit my red/black/plat scheme.

Nvm, I got it. And I wouldn't really see that and it is a triple slot cooler.

I can't really think of any other cards apart from the Asus Matrix 7970 Platinum which can change it's colour to red and it's a dual slot.

..Would dual 670s from Asus work? Their dual slot, with a back plate. The performance isn't that big of a drop, is it?

They would work but we are looking around 13% of a drop in performance.

That 4GB would make up the performance lost in super high resolution.

Yes, because I'll be running a 2560x1440 monitor and a secondary 1080P monitor. Asus 680 4gb it is!

MSI/Sapphire/Gigabyte (Although I've never personally used Sapphire, I hear it's good, but I also hear it gets louder than the Gigabyte and the MSI so not a big fan of that - read review on Newegg about them being a bit on the loud side) - I'd say get whichever one's cheaper. You really can't go wrong with either one.

I'm using the Sapphire 7970 Dual-X and its a really good card BUT it is not a true 2 slot card, more like 2.5 slots. Your best bet if you want a 2 slot 7970 is the MSI 7970 Power Edition or Lightning, the difference is that the Power Edition costs less and that the lightning has higher stock clocks.

sapphire dual x oc 7970 beast card but the fan sink is extended to about 2.5 slots which is ok if you have something thin like a wifi card in the slot below that.
