fair enough, but is it something you couldnt fix with a reset?  no need to spend money if you dont need to.

I've completely reset my phone at least twice in the past two years of owning it, so i'm just making the assumption that that isn't the problem. I'm also worried that the phone will soon no longer be supported by feature software updates, unlike the Pixel 3a.

i mean, if you feel like upgrading. go ahead. but there isnt a "need" when you have an S8

I get what you mean. How long do you think until samsung will stop sending updates to the Galaxy S8?

Are you comfortable flashing an AOSP rom onto your S8? It'll definitely make it feel faster. As far as upgrading to a 3a, it seems less like an upgrade and more like moving to a similar phone.

When Pixel 3a came out, I was all for it. Then Asus ZenFone 6 came out and honestly the Pixel 3a just ain't as good. Pixels reliabitly and software bugs are a little too well known.

The only advantages the pixel 3a has over the S8 is better camera, pure android and OS updates will be more frequent for this device and will be for a longer time than the S8. Otherwise the S8 is the better phone, it has better specs, better build quality, better display and size and is overall just amazing.

Do you know any websites that can help me do that?

XDA developer forums. You'll find a lot of information on there.  The important thing is figuring out your phone's model number and processor (Exynos or Snapdragon).

I came from a low end phone to the 3a so my opinion is skewed.

I see it as pure android and awesome camera. (also just experienced samsung bloat on another device)

On something you use so much I think the pure android thing is worth the sidegrade.

It won't be much of an 'upgrade' per say, but there are many reasons to move over to the Pixel. My personal reasons for switching just a few days ago was mainly for security and software; I wanted a device where I knew, at least as much as anyone can know things, that the manufacturer will actually support it after the hype dies down. And the software was as smooth and compatible as possible and what better place to get that then straight from Google?

Again, this isn't to say that the S8 or other flagship devices aren't good phones, they definitely are. And the 3a lacks some features that you may want, but for an average consumer who texts, calls and does some Youtube and Netflix, it's such a nice experience that I don't think I'll ever go back to a third party (Samsung, LG, OnePlus, etc) ever again. Just my two cents.
