The first images of what is claimed to be forthcoming Nokia Corp.’s Lumia 920 have emerged on the Internet. In case the images are legitimate, then expect the new flagship from Nokia to feature a different case as well as PureView image sensor, which will provide excellent quality photos and will be unique to Nokia.

@Evleaks has published a set of pictures of what it claims to be Nokia Lumia 928, the new flagship from Nokia, which is set to become available later this year. Previously known as code-named Eos handset, Nokia Lumia sports 41MP image sensor with PureView technology as well as high-end Carl Zeiss lenses, previous reports claim. The handset will most likely be the highest-end solution in the Nokia Lumia range, will likely feature other technology advantages and will become the company’s “dream phone†designed to outshine everything that is on the market today.

Nokia Lumia 928, which is expected to feature 4.5†AMOLED display, dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon application processors, LPDDR2 memory and ultra-fast 32GB of NAND flash memory, looks to be considerably thicker than the Lumia 920. There are other differences in the design of the smartphone as well.

For quite a while Nokia’s lineup of products lacked “dream phonesâ€, which offered both extreme performance in today’s applications as well as unique technologies that will only be found in future handsets. While such phones may not be bestsellers, they create a “halo†effect for the whole product family.

The PureView technology features a large, high-resolution 41MP sensor with Carl Zeiss optics and new pixel oversampling technology. At standard resolutions (2/3, 5 and 8MP) this means the ability to zoom without loss of clarity and capture seven pixels of information, condensing into one pixel for the sharpest images imaginable, according to Nokia. At high-resolution (38MP maximum) it means the ability to capture an image, then zoom, reframe, crop and resize afterwards to expose previously unseen levels of details. In addition to superior still imaging technology, the Nokia PureView, also includes full HD 1080p video recording and Nokia Rich Recording that enables audio recording at CD-like levels of quality, previously only possible with external microphones. Previously, PureView was only available on Nokia 808 Symbian Belle-based smartphone.

Nokia did not comment on the news-story.
