SAMA Armor 650w 80Plus Gold any good?

Vutrodlak

I need a new PSU before i can put together my rig

XFX rx480 4gb,

Ryzen 5 2600,

ASRock B450M-HDV

16gb ddr4 2400hz gskill ram

1 hdd, 1ssd,

SAMA ARMOR 650w 80Plus Gold is the max in terms of my budget, i cant buy corsair, i have a fixed budget

My only question is, is this PSU any good? I dont need the BEST psu, is this good enough? To last 5 years and power my rig without overclocking. Its Tier C in psu tier list. So average i think. Thanks for your help

Not sure what makes the SAMA "tier 3".  I would take it over a G1, G1+ or GQ.  And given Superflower's spotty QC, maybe even over the G2 or G3.

It's LLC resonant topology with DC to DC and all the proper protections.  And, as if it matters, all Japanese caps.

Here's a review of the 550W complete with tear down:  http://coolpc.com.tw/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=229727

For 40 Euro difference, it's a no brainer.

That's not even comparable to the Sama Armor.

Group regulated, lacks protections, much less efficient. That's before we even delve into reviews.

Thats true, but its closer to his "budget" and it isnt that bad.

No, its not a good PSU even if you think it "isn't that bad", its group regulated and a rather old design.

Not something you'd want to combine with modern stuff.

Its being used right now with overclocked 4790k and overclocked and watercooled 1070 Ti, not a single issue for months.. Just my 2 cents.

PC Hardware is very tolerant towards bad voltages so it takes a lot for it to show and notice.

THat is the Problem with PSU that you can't easily benchmark it like a graphics card or whatever, you just believe that everything should be fine when tis not...
