gtx 1070 fe and msi z77a-gd55

hello, my friend bought gtx 1070 fe used and its confirmed working on my machine, his motherboard is msi z77a-gd55, cpu is i7 3770k.

tried to update bios version to 1.11, original was 1.4. Original gpu was gtx 770 2gb and it had been working fine. so isit known issue on that motherboard not to work with newer gpus?

Idk, what does searching that specific board show in google?

 

Dont think there’s a board out that has that kind of issue. 

My z77 “worked” the exact same with a 1080 as it did with cards of its generation.

questions about is that specific gpu combatiple with that motherboard, some searches is for gd65 variant. and i forgot to mention when gtx 1070 is plugged in and using integrated dual monitor, device manager is not showing gtx 1070, only integrated.

It’s the same stuff. Unless google shows that board having issues or a certain bios, people here wouldn’t know. Old board, so the chances are low. 

 

What about the other 2 pci slots? Did you try them?

Sounds like a cpu reseat is in order.
