Access to an external hard drive denied

Hey guys,

 

I ran into a problem with my USB hard drive. Whenever I try to open it via File Explorer it says 'D:\ is not accessible. Access is denied.' It shows up in the Disk Management, shows the correct capacity and remaining space.  Ran a disk check and everything went fine but I still can't open it. And it also seems that I cannot apply permission changes to the disk. Does anybody have a solution?

Make sure the drive is formatted properly. Also try using a different device to see if you can access the drive. Worst case solution is completely reformatting and losing all data on the drive.
