More YouTuber & Business™ news than strictly tech, but: Summary Earlier today, Louis Rossmann discussed a couple of in-depth reports alleging fraud on Google's part concerning their AdSense service. Specifically, the reports state that Google grossly misrepresented the environments in which an advertisement was served through their platform. Advertisement space that was sold as being exclusively on-platform YouTube video ads was routinely deployed as banner ads on third-party websites with minimal target interaction. Summary Following the news of secret documents leaks on Discord earlier this week, Bellingcat and to WaPo journalists decided to dig into the sources into the leaks and it looks like they gravitated around two minor youtube celebrities whose followers had a particular penchent for edgy shitposting. Based on the reports, the source is a community centered around a small youtuber (Oxide ~130k subs). historically famous for playing wargames and currently in the military. Essentially a community of guys into weapons, geopolitics and shitposting, the toxicity of some of his fans got to Oxide and the resulting bans pushed the most toxic subset of his fans to a separate forum, where the secret documents were posted over a span of months. From there, some of the documents were re-posted to a discord server of a self-proclaimed "shitposting internet microcelebrity" WowMao, from which they were reposted to a general Minecraft server - Minecraft Earth Map - before making their way to 4chan and Russian Milblogger telegram channel, who promptly re-posted them after editing Ukrainian casualties numbers. The WaPo articles are painting the image of a community of lonely teens and young adults who congregated to discord servers during he pandemic to keep socializing and in the race to appear cool one to another decided to post secret documents they had access to through work (or declare they won't rat out their internet friends who did that, on-record, in clear-voice to a major news outlet). I wonder how long before discords one is part of and youtuber one follows are join War Thunder in the latest questions on security clearances list and where LinusTechTips the LTT Minecraft Network would rank in that list. I also wonder, what tips would be needed for the parent who gave a consent for their kid to be interviewed by WaPo on-record. Especially when their kid is saying they new the identity of the currently most wanted person in the USA, but won't give it to the authorities. That also gives a more credence to Linus' obsession with what his kids do on the internet and who they interact with. Wonder if he would have additional tips for other parents wrt that. Upgrade Feedback - AMD, Intel, or just GPU

Alright, So here's my question of the hour a lot of my friends have been hounding me about getting "more cores" for my system and It's been a few years. I've been living overseas and haven't had much in the way of upgrading I managed to snag a Devils Canyon for cheap off of ebay and subsequently the same with my motherboard. But with tax returns on the horizon in the U.S. I'm wondering if I should just do a full modern system upgrade but I want it to be more effective for editing YouTube videos and making content. So my question is basically should I keep my current system or just build a new rig but keep my core components. Current system CPU: Intel 4790K (Soon to be OC'd to 4.8ghz) Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87 OC RAM: 2400mhz 32gb Team Group Boot Drive: Gigabyte 500gb SSD SATA III GPU: Gigabyte RX570 8GB (Runs at 8X) (Runs at 8X) Game Drive: Intel 660P Expansion Card 1: PCIe MVNE Adaptor Expansion Card 2: PCIe Elgato 4K Capture card The current plan is just to purchase a 2080ti or similar and minimize performance loss by OC'ing the CPU to 4.8ghz to minimize the bottleneck. Bandwidth wise I'd be losing 3% of its total speed if my math is right because it's acting as a PCIe 2.0 slot in essence. My friends suggested that I just build a new system with newer RAM, CPU, and Motherboard in which I forego the 2080ti for a new CPU instead which leaves me with two opitions. AMD System CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950 RAM: 3600mhz Corsair Vengeance 32gb RGB kit Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Intel System CPU: Intel Series 9900K Coffee Lake RAM: 3600mhz Corsair Vengeance 32gb RGB kit Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 The biggest issues I face is normally related to recording quality I want to upgrade my quality of footage but not lose system performance. Software wise the biggest things I use are generally OBS and Wondershare filmora and I record at 1080p but I want to have expandibility for streaming down the line. I like the appeal of the 2080ti as their NvENC can free up my CPU usage for gaming to balance out more of what I'd generally use in terms of performance. My budget with my tax return would be around $1000 US since I make just trash in terms of a paycheck. What's everyones thought's, feedback, concerns, ect any information would help. Should I go a more core CPU? stick with my plan with the 2080ti and upgrade my system down the road? I really need to make my purchase count as in my case this system will have to last me for several years. -
So there's this 25+year old tech youtuber from South Africa who has been making some decent content for a while now, sometimes, even funny ones too. But on of his child got sick and despite he and his wife's best effort to find him the best treatment and keep treating him in SA, it was in vein once their son's health started to deteriorate. So have now decided to bring his family to the US to get his baby boy properly treated. He had a good team working full time who the guy can't give any guarantee if he can bring them along with him on such short notice with getting visa and relocating and all that. He has to now tell them that they soon might not have a job, while on the other hand the income from his channel was a major monetary source for his child's treatment. And the channel due to all this is now less active. One of his fans asked to let you guys know so that we can all help him how ever we can from networking to whatever and to let the LTT people know about this, to help a fellow tech youtuber anyway they can. Also, one of his friends opened a go fund me to cover some initial costs, and it has went over the goal by a lot but any kind of help will be appreciated on that. Also, after the go fund me, they officially launched their merch store so people can get something in return one of such thing is a T shirt with different layers of cherry MX switch of the Button "F", "so that everyone can press F to show their respect", Like I said, he's funny. Hello there, I have a GTX 1070, a view sonic monitor (able to operate at 75hz) and an Elgato HD60, Sometimes when my PC turns on (when they are all connected (so gpu->elgato->monitor)) my monitor would act wired random lines would show up (a lot like static,) I would unplug and re-plug my HDMI (elgato, and power) then it would return to normal, one day (today) I opened it up and it had this wired effect like your looking from top of a fire (or hot surface) and you see things a little off (kind of like moving) so I decided to find a fix and decided to plug my elgato into its own HDMI port and the Display into its own HDMI port. I found a solution, to open up NVIDIA Control Panel and under multiple displays, clone my monitor, then go under adjust desktop size and position to set them to different refresh rates (both at 1080p for me) the guide, said to set No scaling and GPU, and for both "monitors" and they both worked, so here is my first question whats the difference if I kept Aspect Ratio vs No scaling? Second, Would this put more load on my GPU? Finally, is there a better solution or is there a problem with any of my equipment? (it's worth noting that I had a noticeable amount of desync (like I would need a G-Sync monitor to solve) towards the bottom of my screen, when I had them all plunged in together) <--will this problem be solved now? is it also normal for chrome to take a second to adjust (from full screen to 1/2 screen for example) or is that just me? --------TLDR-------- A youtuber bought a Canon 1DX Mk2 on amazon and got rocks instead, returned it, amazon sent a new one, the new one had bricks instead of the camera. --------TLDR-------- Has anyone else seen the latest Chase on two wheels video about a scam going on with the Canon 1DX Mk2 on amazon? This is the link for the second video: I know this could be just a fluke but at least for me it raises a lot of concerns I did not have before, my personal level of trust in amazon has been lowered to almost ebay levels. On the first video (you really don't need to watch it to get the point) I wasn't so concerned, but now after seen this happen 2 times in a row I will definitely think twice before ordering anything expensive on amazon again. What do you guys think about this? Does it raises your concern level, or am I just overreacting? -EDIT: On the fist video he states that the camera was sold and delivered by amazon.

So I'm getting ready to build my first PC and when I post my build people always say it's great for gaming. They never say video editing, even when I ask how it will be for both. So this post is just dedicated to video editing. I have a YouTube channel. I make 1080p commentaries over gameplay. I already know this PC is good for gaming. But what about video editing? Hello everyone! I am 17 years old and have been following LMG for a couple of years, and just joined the forum. I bought a $500 typical 12 year old kid PC 5 years ago from Best Buy (HP). I started making YouTube videos ever since, and mainly used the computer to play WoW and then to record my Xbox Gaming. 5 years later at 17, I want something that can render videos without risking of my computer sounding like it's going into hyperspeed, can play most games at medium-high settings (I'm not interested in maxing out in 4k or anything), and can support streaming PC games (which I know will be more intensive than the following), and streaming/recording my Xbox gameplay as before. Budget: $600-$800 (Looking to build/purchase around March-ish, before College) Location: Ohio, United States of America Preferred Retailer?: There is a Microcenter in a nearby town, but ordering online is fine. Number of monitors: Currently 2, probably will expand to 3. Watercooling: I would need to learn how to go about maintenance, but willing to learn! OS: Currently Windows 10, would like to go with that once again. FPS Outlook: Smooth 60ish FPS at Medium-High Settings in WOW, CS, COD. Would like to be able to run other games such as Tomb Raider, Arma etc. as well (perhaps at lower settings if needed). Software: I use Sony Vegas and sometimes After Effects for videos, as well as OBS for Recording/Streaming. I render/record/stream at 720p 60fps currently. I don't need monitors, headsets, keyboard, mouse etc. I think I have included good spec information, but let me know if there is something you wish to know!

Need a upgrade to gaming and recording pc

Hi. I have been into gaming and recording for the last week's. I want to start to game and record. The problem is that my pc can't handle those new game today without going up to 90% cpu, sometimes almost 100%. This is what i got inside my pc. Graphics Card: Amd Radeon Hd 7900 Series Processor: Amd fx-4300 quad-core processor 3.80 GHz MotherBoard: Asus M5 A97 Ram: 8.00 GB Power Supply: Corsair cx500 500 W Fan: z7uh01r101 What do i need to change and upgrade? What kind of graphics card, processor , motherboard, etc is good for gaming and recording? I dont have any budget and i dont need any fancy thing, only enough to play games and record games like Call of duty and battlefield. I hope you guys can help me. Thanks -
Do you guys know of some trusted YouTubers? I've have major problems finding reliable sources for tech youtubers since most of them are either making low quality content, they're not to descriptive on the product or they're just people who get funded by manufacturing companies.

YouTube Will Urbina has been having trouble with his living space and the people who are supposed to be running it. It all started this morning, when checking youtube for some new videos to watch when i got a notification. long story short i Found a 350.000 sub youtuber writing this on my channel. Not remembering what the heck this guys was flaming about I searched through my comments and found this on one of his videos : ''twice the same review, how much did they pay u?'' I posted this evil comment on the video BEST GTX 970? - ASUS STRIX Performance Review! Angry and hungry i decided to eat and after breakfast i decided to take the higher road and nicely reply. So forum, is this normal? did anything like this happen to you? Did I do the right thing? will he ever read my reply? any thoughts and comments are appreciated. PS: for the moderators, i do not know if this post breaks any forum rules ( after all i have a IQ of 10 ) nor if the section is right. Thanks Otta

hey Guys im not gonna mention any names and before i get to why he needs your help a little back story , so for a while now his youtube channel has been stuck at about 130k subs and only about 3000 views per vid , and he struggles to get anymore than that , he used to get 20-30k on each vid but his Subscriber base has fallen to pieces and its really getting him down which isnt nice to hear about ,hes on Anti-Depressants and everything , he still makes vids and he hasnt fully given up yet but i have a felling hes about too, we have been trying different games with different people and on different platforms but still nothing has come of it , so thats Where you guys come in He Needs your help to come up with some ideas to help him get his Subscriber base back to where it used to be , currently he does alot of zombie type games (Dayz, WaW Custom zombies etc ) So have you guys got any ideas as to different games and ways to play then , maybe a series of videos ?
