Finishing up a mod for my Razer Huntsman Mini. I have been sick and tired of wires on my desk for a very long time, and technology to replace all cables does exist now, so I figured this was the time to make my dreams real. The basic idea is to attach a wireless charge mat to the bottom of my keyboard, and place Qi charging pads underneath my desk mat. I have already cut a piece of foam to hide my Logitech Powerplay mat, so I had a good idea that this would work. In practice, this idea loses its legs fairly quickly, because you not only have to attach a wireless charging receiver, but also a battery and some way for the keyboard to transmit key presses in a mostly latency free way. Oh, and I really didn't want to wind up spending more money on this mod than the keyboard itself was worth, and ideally I didn't want to spend more than about $50. Finding a suitable Qi charging receiver was actually really easy, apparently these exist as phone accessories for people with phone that don't have wireless charging. You can find ones like this one I used on Amazon for about $13. My solution was this- using a Raspberry Pi Zero W, I installed VirtualHere server, a USB over LAN software that's actually free so long as you're only using one device, and attached the Pi W to a large dual-cell battery bank. I wound up using this one which I already had lying around, but a newer one with USB C charging could be beneficial. The most important thing here is that the battery bank continuously provides power. Some battery banks switch over from the cell to the USB charging port, resulting in the Raspberry Pi turning off and rebooting every time you remove it from the wireless charging mat. Next I cut a hole in the bottom of a wooden prototype case that I could pass the wireless receiver's USB plug through. Finally, I cut two holes into my desk mat in the spots I most commonly use my keyboard. One hole was cut in the center for typing, and the other in the top left for gaming. Quick note here, the angles that the Huntsman Mini normally allow you to adjust the keyboard from 6 degrees to 9 degrees (nice), but I found that I needed the keyboard raised at a 15 degree angle to fit every part underneath the faceplate. I don't really notice the difference, but some people might, so I wanted to let you know. The final step was officially putting the thing together. I unscrewed the face plate of the Huntsman Mini, which was remarkably easy, and then I had a fabricator model and 3D print a new case for the keyboard. The final result looks absolutely fabulous, with 4 screw mounting points in the corners and lot of open space for placing each component. The purple model is one of the prototypes, but the internal design is exactly the same as the final product. Once I had every component in place, I marked out empty spaces that I could fill with cheap metal tire weights like these to add some more weight to the keyboard. Make sure to cover all of the exposed metal with tape so that the circuitry doesn't short. The last thing anyone wants next to their fingers is a lithium ion battery that's shorting out! (Fun fact, depending on how you place the weights, you can create your own cable channels for the USB wires that need to be run. I don't know how to solder, or the internals would be much more space efficient.) With all of the internal parts placed, the last thing to do is close everything up! This post mostly focuses on the physical mod, but setting up the Raspberry Pi with VirtualHere is really simple. They have a guide posted here for how to install the server program on a Linux machine, and guides for how to automatically start a program on boot exist all over the internet. One last thing to take care of is to install the VirtualHere client on your windows machine, and follow this guide on how to set a program to start on boot in Windows 10 so that VirtualHere is detecting keyboard inputs before you have to log in. (A keyboard isn't worth much if you can't log into Windows with it lol) Once your software is configured, you're basically good to go! The best thing about this is that using USB over LAN is pretty seamless as long as you don't plan on taking your keyboard out of your house. Plus, now your keyboard has a computer inside of it, so the options for taking work on the go are pretty cool as well! And to address concerns over latency, 2.4ghz signals are already what most wireless peripherals use to transmit, and in games I have noticed no discernable delay between using a wired keyboard instead of this wireless solution. Otherwise, that's it guys! I added a small LED that illuminates to show when the keyboard is charging, and some small marks on my mouse mat to act as guides for setting the keyboard down, and the mod was complete. This mod could theoretically work for any keyboard in existence and only costs about $40 so long as you already have a couple of USB cables laying around. Obviously there are some improvements to be made, such as using fast charging Qi pads, adapters, and a battery bank that accepts USB C charging, as well as a way to check the battery percentage of the keyboard, but each of those add-ons adds cost, and the idea here was to create this mod for as little extra money as possible. I think I was pretty successful, but let me know what you think!

I have a computer in my living room connected to my TV with almost 10 TB of files spread between 2 HDs & an SSD. I had some of it backuped on external drives, but really didn't backup regularly enough. I figured an online backup solution would be too expensive, but I saw LTT sponsor backblaze offered unlimited storage for $70/year. I started my backup at 8:58 am on 9/9/2021 and am now almost 90% backed up. I have had one problem though. My mouse and keyboard freeze up on me. I am using an inexpensive Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard that use one bluetooth dongle. . At first it was something that only happened occasionally. But as the month has gone on it has just gotten worse and worse, I changed the batteries so I know it's not that. Funny thing though, when I rebooted and paused the backup as soon as it restarted, both are working fine again. I am not so much looking for solutions as just wondering of anyone has had any similar experience? I was thinking the PCIE WiFi/Bluetooth card might have been getting overwhelmed, but the mouse and keyboard connect to a dongle. The backup is almost finished and even if I only run it when I am not using my computer it will be fully backuped in less than a week. While having the initial backup take this long has been a little annoying, it will be nice no longer feel guilty because I know better than not to keep my drives backed up.

I just recently upgraded my original Logitech G502 to the new G502 wireless with light speed. It comes with the USB cable to charge the mouse as well as an adapter to plug the dongle into if you want it close to your desk (i assume) I also just bought the Logitech wireless G915 with lightspeed. (trying to go for a more clean wireless look on my desk) I first wanted to know if there is a notable difference between having the lightspeed dongle connected straight to the front or rear I/O of my PC or having it plugged into the adapter which connects to the USB charging cable. Second I wanted to know if it was okay to have both keyboard and mouse Dongle right next to each other. will it cause any interference or it doesn't matter? Thank you in advance. I just want to make sure I am not introducing any latency or signal issues with having both dongles right next to each other or using the USB cable for the dongle.

I'm looking for a wireless keyboard to go with my G602. I'd consider paying extra if anyone could find an affordable wireless mechanical. I'd prefer laptop style keys over membrane keys, and I have an appreciation for low profile and sleek style. Num pad is preferred. Hit me with any suggestions you have.

Pros Made in 2007, but has aged extremely well (looks modern) Available for $25-35 on eBay (great bargain) Dense metal body, but also very lightweight for portability. Smooth white matte-like bottom makes it comfortable to carry. Beautiful clean silver and white aesthetic. Keys are firm, easy to press and offer tactile feedback. Keys are not a dust or fingerprint magnet. Very thin, with the 2x AA batteries slot to elevate it. Has the lowest possible width and length a functional keyboard can have. Connects to Windows via Bluetooth very easily. Looks as good in real life as in the picture (unlike many keyboards). Cons No USB ports (can't access BIOS with it) Don't pay full retail price. No backlighting (which is not a big deal) Took me a while to figure out I needed a coin to open the batteries slot. Overall Obviously, this is not for people who want a mechanical or full-sized keyboard (for competitive gaming or certain professional applications), but it wouldn't be fair to judge this product by that standard. For consumers who want a very small form factor and portable keyboard with excellent build quality all around at an affordable price, this is an excellent product and strongly recommended. Hello everyone, i'm new here, so if i created a wrong topic in a wrong section, please tell me. I like to use all PC peripherals without cables, be it controller or mouse+keyboard. The keyboard, which i use every day is Varmilo VB87M and while it feels nice to use it in system, it's a bit annoying when you can't use it in BIOS, so i'm interested in making it work in that part of a computer too. I've done some research here and there, and found that you need a Bluetooth adapter/dongle, which supports HID proxy mode. I've also found that Laird company produces 5.0 and 4.0 Bluetooth adapters and assures you that they both support HID and HIC modes. Now, i have some experience about Bluetooth adapters, but this is the first time i hear about these modes, so if anybody has any experience with Bluetooth adapters and how they work, i'd appreciate any kind of help in this task.

Got the keyboard a couple months ago, sometimes it doesn't connect after powering off or restarting the PC the majority of the time I have to use it wired, all USB drivers are up to date so its either faulty or I'm missing something. EDIT: I've updated the keyboards Firmware hopefully it fixes it

So, I have my keyboard and mouse receivers on a USB hub on an extension since this is an HTPC and the USB slots on the computer are too low to get a good connection. The thing is that it was working fine to get into the bios up until now. Even clearing the CMOS didn't make them go back to normal. I can access the bios if I plug the receivers directly into the computer's USB ports, but not on the hub anymore. I did uninstall a USB driver and reinstall it, but I was pretty sure that was for my Oculus Rift not the USB hub. I also changed a setting in my power plan to turn off USB selective suspend. I'm reinstalling windows for other reasons right now so I will see if that solves it, but in case that doesn't fix it when I check it when I get home, does anyone else know what causes this? It's definitely not a bios setting since the clear CMOS didn't fix it.

I recently got a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard but from diffent manufacturers. The mouse is from hama and the keyboard from Logitech. (Both are just standard office equipment and nothing fancy or gaming related.) They both came with a 2,4GHz reciever. Is there any way that I can use just 1 reciever for both? Thanks for helping

Hey guys, hope everyone enjoyed the vacations. I bought a Dell u2718q monitor (very good deal !!), i will receive it in a couple of days. I am planning to connect my 2 laptops to it. one will be through the HDMI and the other through the thunderbolt (the only avaialble in xps 9360 for some reason !!). Now i have 2 questions please 1- can I use the included displayport to mini displayport cable to connect the monitor to the thunderbolt port in XPS 13? or is it a different port and I have to use a thunderbolt/ usb C to displayport cable? 2- i have a USB wireless mouse and keyboard, what will be the best way to connect those to both laptops at the same time without a lot of hassle. I thought of connecting the USB receiver to the downstream port of the monitor but I am not sure if that will allow me using them with both laptops what do you think?

So, i've been looking for gear to use that is wireless, silent(as silent as possible) and gamer friendly. What i mean by gamer friendly, is that i can game on the gear, and have no issues, like, for example, bluetooth mouse and keyboard would be great, but there are very noticeable delays, and other problems if i tried to play CS:GO on them. My rig at my gf's is just a light gaming machine. If anyone knows anything about the keyboard i choose, or another one that is similar and better, it'll be helpful

Hi all, I've tried a bit of researching around here and haven't really found exactly what I am looking for. I'm looking for a keyboard and mouse setup that I could take into different rooms without interruption or loosing connection. It's been a long time since I've looked at wireless options so I don't know if this is possible yet as far as wireless signal tech for peripherals. Basically what I want to do is run an HDMI from PC in my office and run it into my TV in the living room. It wouldn't be a very long stretch for either the cable or the keyboard. About 15ft from the tower through the wall to where the couch is. And about a 35ft cable run. Let me know what keyboard/mouse you suggest and if this seems doable or if this is just silly. It seemed cool when I thought of it.

It has a little hiding spot in the back of the keyboard as well so you can't lose it during storage or transport. It comes with a small USB extention just incase you need it to stick out a little bit. The On/Off switch, is handy for saving every ounce of battery life you can. Hey it last longer than 12 months. It has nice soft rubber feet on the bottom for use on a desk, After using it i have found it dosen't move on the desk it is grippy enough to stay put. Searching for a mouse and keyboard all in one wireless device for my HTPC. Needs to have great reliability in terms of the range of the device. Currently use microsoft wireless desktop keyboard and mouse 5000 (I think) and both start having connectivity issues at 5m+. Also just looking for an all in one solution as using the mouse on my couch isn't cutting it. lol What do you use and recommend? keep in mind my HTPC is usually behind to the right of myself 4m away as I use it.

Would LTT consider make a review about Clevetura's newly announced keyboard that integrated trackpad on the keys, it looks amazing and seems to be a much better solution than iPad's magic keyboard.
