I've been using a HP LaserJet 5200 with PostScript (PS) on two of my Windows 10 PCs for a while now. I've never had any luck with any of HP's Universal PS drivers, so I have always depended on the compatible drivers provided by Microsoft. Thankfully, they have always worked...until today! The issue is only with one of my W10 PCs. The status of the printer says "Needs New Driver". Also right clicking the printer now shows a "Update" button. I clicked the update button, and it appeared to act like it was updating, but the same message still persists. Anytime I try to open the properties of the printer, it keeps saying the driver is not installed, would I like to install the driver? Selecting Yes, and selecting the HP LaserJet 5200 PS from the Windows compatible drivers list, it appears to install the driver, but yet, once again I still have the same errors, Needs New Driver and drivers are not installed for this printer. It's like this cycle just keeps repeating itself. So I finally uninstalled the printer and removed the printer drivers and its package using printui /s. I rebooted the PC and preceded to reinstall the printer again, but this time under the Windows compatible drivers list, the HP LaserJet 5200 PS was not listed. Is this b/c I removed the driver and package earlier? I clicked the Windows Update button and waited for it to update the list. Again, the printer was still not listed. So I'm confused, why is it missing from the list when it was there 30 minutes ago before I removed the printer, and if I did remove it, why didn't it reappear after clicking Windows Update? I'm sure they keep a database of these compatible drivers they provide. How can I verify if Microsoft is still providing this compatible driver? If they are not, is there anyway I can copy/extract the same drivers from my other Windows 10 PC or do you have any other suggestions?

After a couple of windows 10 updates earlier my keyboard didn't work in Start menu. I usually type the first letter of the app/software I am looking for in the start menu or search bar in the bottom right hand side. I found a solution online. Computer management > services > touch type keyboard inputs.... > Properties > Set start-up type to automatic > apply . It worked for a while but after every restart the start-up type defaults to manual from automatic. I have to to do this every time after a restart. It never happens after a shut down but only a restart. What's causing this? Thank you.

Hey everyone I'm working on setting up WSUS today so that I can run the updates over the weekend since we're stuck on a slow internet connection. I have attempted to setup WSUS before but always get stuck / confused when I get to the choose products section. There's a lot of different products that I can choose from that I'm not really sure apply to us. The main section is Windows 10 there are a lot of different things to choose from and I'm not sure on what's what... Here's the OS's that we have. SERVERS: Dell PowerEdge T320 Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (Primary DC) Roles: Active Directory Domain Services App Server (Not 100% sure this is being used) DHCP Server DNS Server Files and Storage Services IIS 7 Print Server HP ProLiant ML350 G6 Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (Failover) Roles: Active Directory Domain Services DNS Server File and Storage Services IIS 8.5 Desktops: Custom Built Windows 10 Pro x64 Office 365 (2016) Thanks for your help. I attached a picture to show the exact section I'm talking about. Ryan

So I have my WSUS setup (at least I believe it's correct) but I can only get my two servers to show up as well as one of the desktop computers. I have read a few different posts on setting things up and followed the instructions on this page Deploy and Configure WSUS Server 2012 R2. I was able to get my computer to show up in the computer list for a little while and then it disappeared... Now I am able to get another computer to show up (Win10-Adam) but none of the other computers. I have manually updated the Group Policy on all of the machines so that they point to the WSUS server on port 8530 as well as opened the firewall ports in SEP Small Business Edtion. I have disabled the Windows Firewall on both Servers and the Desktop Windows Firewalls are disabled as well. Some Information My Primary DC is 08SRV and my Secondary is WS2012 Here's some pictures of how my settings are. 1: My WSUS Computers that are listed 2: My Group Policy Settings on 08SRV (this is carried over to WS2012 as well) Both WSUS Servers GPO's are the same for the Domain Controllers as well as the Reichel OU 3: My Group Policy settings on my computer (same on all the desktops) also the "Configure Automatic Updates" setting is Enabled and set to 3. 4: My Firewall Rule for port 8530 in Symantec Endpoint Protection - Small Business Edition Cloud Anyone have any ideas?

Hey everyone, I have a TP-Link Archer T6E Dual Band PCI-e Wireless adapter. After update, my computer doesn't recognize the card any longer. I've tried everything from uninstalling all of the drivers and then reinstalling, making sure the card was mounted properly, moving the card to a different PCI-e slot, downloading the driver and utility, etc. I have these messages appearing: From Device Manager there is a warning symbol next to this device: In the TP-Link Utility: And Windows recognizes that the device driver isn't functioning properly, but the troubleshooter recognizes no problems: Thank you all for your help!

I am having an issue with windows updates on a mission critical Server 2016 Server. We do not run a WSUS Update server and just directly get our updates from microsoft. The server was update and rebooting and it has currently not rebooted as updates are on 24% then 20 minutes later 25% then 20 minutes later 26%. I think it was accidentally update and restarted as i was not the one who personally restarted. This server is a SQL Navision Server Spec Below is there anyway to speed it up ? Should note that the Windows update service and Trusted Installer Service have both stopped.

Hi, Just as the title says, i need to find out if it is possible to limit the bandwidth of windows updates on a WatchGuard Firewall, I realize with every other firewall this is possible but Watchguard are generally annoying, I can't flash it to PFsense or anything that would make it nice and tasty as this is a work issue. Thanks Guys !

source: https://mspoweruser.com/windows-10-build-15002-leaks-online-heres-whats-new/ some info of new W10 build, 15002, leaked on-line and one of the most notable changes to how Windows Update works is that it appears MS will give us a toggle switch for driver updates: this is very good news, now only a matter of time for this implementation to go live - this is a major pain in the arse for me; on my laptop, if I update the Intel iGPU drivers the Windows Update will revert back to an earlier version --- update January 10th: https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2017/01/09/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-15002-pc/#do166xwo3r0cGDD7.97 MicroSoft had to fuck it up, the toggle will not be available on W10 Home:

Yesterday, I built my first pc and hooked up a brand new samsung 860 evo 250gb ssd for booting up windows 10 pro and a separate 2tb hdd for extra storage . After finishing all the post pc building procedures: bios settings, windows and drivers installation, etc. which I did while only the ssd is connected, I noticed that from a 242gb free space, I just now have 199gb available! So the question is, WHERE HAVE THAT STORAGE SPACE GONE? Are all those things that I have installed and updated that big to take up around 40gb of my ssd???

Hello, My gaming computer is kinda stuck in a loop of constant restarts. After the last Windows Update, it had to shut down and restart several times to apply the update. When it was completed, the final restart landed on the Windows logo and an error message stating, "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation." I press enter, then the computer restarts and the same error message appears. I simply cannot reach the desk top... I'm running Windows 10 (64bit) on my rig which features the following: Intel i5-4690k MSI Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard MSI GTX 970 16 gigs Corsair Vengeance RAM 2 TB WD Black EVGA 750W psi I'm not sure what all matters here, but I wanted to give ya the full picture. I appreciate any help ya might give me. Trent

Hello, so recently my computer automatically downloaded this client software called windows update assistant without even asking me and now its prompting me with windows updates almost every time i connect to the internet. I have no idea how this software got downloaded as I had blocked the windows update service from services.msc. however now as windows update assistant is in my computer, it automatically enables this windows updates service whenever im connected to internet and when it happens its almost impossible to disable it again. I tried several things like writing a firewall rule to block its activity, tried disabling tasks in Task scheduler that are related to windows update and also tried uninstalling windows update assistant. None of these methods worked. It would be very helpful if someone could suggest a way to stop this as its using up almost all processing power when running and im unable to even browse through my directories. When playing games its very annoying as it minimizes the game and suddenly says its downloading an update and it gets very laggy because it use all hardware resources and internet bandwidth. Plus our ISPs only provide connections with a monthly data cap and it would end in no time according to the number of updates its downloading. Thanks

Hey forum, hope things are faring well for you. I'm coming for help with a two core issues, one lead to another to another and they all link back to the start so I'm hoping someone can give me a hand. I've put a 3 point summary at the end as well. Lets get specs out of the way first. Windows 10 Pro 64bit, Creators update 1703. all uptodate so says windows. Alienware Aurora R4 Dell branded mobo x79 Platform with some daughter board managing all the front IO an stuff. (A11 Bios, there has not been an update to the Aurora R4's bios in years) i7-3930K @3.2Ghz 6 Cores with intel turbo w/e boost up to 3.49Ghz across all. 4x4GB DDR3 Sticks of Dell Branded. (16GB 1600MHz) nvidia GTX 680 2GB (looks like a reference card) 1 500GB seagate 7200RPM Boot Drive, Sata 2 1TB seagate 7200RPM Data Drives, Sata 1 3TB western digital "caviar green" Sata [Not showing full size] Currently connected via Sata/USB tool. No Raids of any sort. Dell PSU 800W I think. As noted I'm still on "Creators" 1703 of windows, my "Feature update" delay setting has ticked over and PC wants to install "Fall Creators" 1709. Core Question 1. Do I update at all to 1709? | 1703 I believe continues security updates into Spring of 2019. With all the horror stories I'd heard of 1709 update I wanted to do a system backup to have a "Safety net." Got out 3TB Western Digital MyBook 3.0 but was unable to find the stupid version of USB it uses or its power adaptor. I took the HDD out of its enclosure and connected it directly to my PC's 4th bay, Not detected - even after reboot. Tried 3rd bay, removing 1 working data drive (L), still no show. put working data drive back. Used a Sata/USB tool my Father had. | Hardware & Drive Manger's see the drive, but only an unallocated 746GB. AOMEI Partition Assistant, sees another small 128MB segment. Images in spoiler. Lots of googling latter, people saying either of the following. Update Intel Rapid storage technology. Legacy Bios machines can't use 2TB+ drives without UEFI. my Bios is indeed "Legacy" and not UEFI so if this is true then 3TB+ internal drives are up in smoke. In my attempts to update Intel RST, primarily with 14.8 or lower as those ones still list Intel C600 Raid chip support, I've been meet with "Platform not supported" Image in spoiler. Yet I have an old version of this installed, Intel Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise 3.[other numbers] x36bit. I'm wary of uninstalling this as on the whole I don't know what it does for me being present as I -do not- have any Raid setup. However there is no way to get it back from Intel's official site. Core question 2.| Bother any further with this drive business? Would buying a new External be any different? I used to be able to see all 3TB with the WD The drive had had a Windows 7 system made backup on it last I used it, could that play a part? Summary. Old system. Everything is reported as "uptodate" however, age may be preventing newer versions/compatibility. Do I upgrade to 1709 at all? I rather not get caught up in a double version jump right into 1803, my update settings are set to "Business branch" + 100 days. Chasing my tail with this drive bs.. I want it fixed for any future larger than 2TB drives but goodness its ticking me off. Thank you for your time, really do appreciate it. ~Umi. In case we solve anything I'm adding search lines here so others can find it easier as I couldn't find anything when I searched. 3TB Drive not showing 3TB Drive only showing 746GB

So here's what's going on. a while ago I built an amazing ITX sized system for a friend of mine who has now moved to Chicago, which is very far away from California where I live. His Computer bluescreened at one point and he decided to reinstall the operating system which is windows 8.1. This worked except for a single update for which he called a microsoft supoort guy in to help. It was apparently the update that allowed metro apps to be closed like normal apps. anyways, the computer has bluescreened again recently and I cannot figure out why it is doing this. the system never had problems with me when I was building and testing it at my house. I even recommended he remove the SSD and just use the seagate 1TB HDD since the SSD setup is quite nontraditional. Now the only drivers that were able to install from the Asus support site were the intel chipset drivers. Not even windows updates will isntall. I'm considering fixing this by jumping on team viewer and reinstalling windows update for him. I absolutely cannot figure out what is going on. here is the current setup: Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Impact Z87 (original bios) memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz CL9 1.5V CPU: Intel i5 4670K CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i w/ two Corsair SP120mm quiet edition fans GPU: Asus GTX 780ti Direct CUII PSU: Rosewill Capstone 650 Watt 80Plus Gold Storage: Seagate 1TB 7200RPM Optical: Lite-On 24X DVD RW Case: Corsair Obsidian 250D In the old setup, the storage would have included a crucial M500 mSATA ssd CT240M500SSD3 inside if a mydigitalSSD msata to 2.5" enclosure. like I said, nontraditional ssd setup. Anyways, all of this hardware should be compatible. I measured the power usage of the system at around 500W so I don't think the power supply has anything to do with it. Anyone out there have any ideas? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Okay, in light of recent events (my laptop dying) i bought a new one its done around 70 updates but its got another 148 to do i left it over night to do do these updates and woke up the next day turned it on and it started doing the boot up side of the updates. Then it shut down so i turned it on again and it did some update stuff them bluescreened ( i have attached a picture of it that was taken on my ipod sorry if the quality poor) the error that comes up is "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" it restarted and i put it into safe mode and it said error implementing windows updates reverting ( or something to that effect) i shut it down again the next night and left it to do the updates then booted it up it finished the updates and i logged in then after a few seconds it bluescreened with the same problem again but, this time i had to go into safe mode and restore my machine I have looked this up (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms854226.aspx) and it is part of the software being installed doesnt have permission to access something that its trying to access does anyone have any idea how i can work out a fix for this or work a way around it or would it be as simple as install 5 updates at a time till I can isolate the single one that's causing the problem and just not install it ? anyone information on this would be GREATLY appreciated the laptop is a acer aspire 5755G core i7-2670GM 2.2GHz with 3.10GHz turbo boost Nvidea GT630m with 2GB dedicated Vram 750GB hdd 6GB RAM and 1 USB 3.0 Port
