Summary On April 8th, 2024 at 4PM PDT the Online play servers for the Wii U and 3DS will shut down permanently. This means that online functionality such as Online play, SpotPass, and internet rankings will all cease to function. Features like the internet browser will still work. Quotes My thoughts We all knew it'd happen someday, but it's still sad to see these go. The Wii U was the first game console I received as a gift, and I have years of memories playing with my brothers on the Wii U. What really sucks is how this is going to break the core functionality of a ton of games (with a primary focus on Super Mario Maker) that rely on Online functionality. These games will nearly entirely cease to work without outside community servers like Pretendo. I guess the cheering should go to Microsoft for continuing to support the Xbox 360 (even if the store support is ending this summer) for so dang long. Once it starts outlasting consoles from the generation after, I'd call that some dedication from Microsoft. Summary In March of 2023, Nintendo will now no longer support the buying of digital copies of games for the 3DS and the Wii U. Quotes My thoughts Oh no! The Wii U and 3DS are no longer getting digital gam- oh who cares. Everyone has physical copies anyways. I mean, for the people who do have digital copies, they still keep their games. You just can’t buy them anymore. Who even buys Wii U/3DS games from the eShop anyways? Everyone just gets a physical copy. Anyways, I guess it is sad that these consoles are now dated, but then again, you can still play games on them. Sources the verge

This should definitely be an interesting 1... If anyone remembers, a few months back --[Approximately, but I don't remember exactly how long it's been.]-- I made a few posts regarding my console setup. Now, I'm at an interesting situation to say the least. Due to how small my room is, I can't have a TV in here as much as I want to for my consoles. But, using my gaming monitor for my consoles isn't too big of a deal anyway. My monitor is the MSI Optix MPG27CQ btw. However, the topic of today is using my speaker [The LG UltraGear GP9] with the Wii U. So far, I have it hooked up to the monitor via HDMI & I managed to get the Gamepad connected & get the console itself onto my WiFi network. Now as far as how I would need to use the Wii U with the speaker is simple: have HDMI going to the monitor for both video & audio. But since the speaker itself does NOT have an HDMI port, that means I somehow have to split the video & audio. When I chatted with a Gamestop agent about this a little while ago, he said running HDMI to the monitor & then connecting the speaker to my monitor via a 3.5 mm audio cable would work, but I'm not quite so sure given that I've never done this before. As far as this method above goes, since it hasn't worked so far, is there like a setting on the Wii U I need to change in order to get sound out via the speaker? If it won't work that way, then should connect the included usb cable to the Wii U...? [I'm not sure if that's what I need to do here.] Nonetheless, I'm sort of confused & at a loss for words & I would highly appreciate it if I can chat about this with someone who is experienced enough & can help! And if there's a different solution I need to implement which hasn't occurred to me yet, the feel free to let me know! If I ended up forgetting anything or if you need anymore details, please don't hesitate to ask & I will be sure to answer back! Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out with this!

When I was on my console kick a while back, I actually forgot at the time to ask about a topic which I hadn't given much thought to: audio. But better late than never, right? Now, the consoles that I have are the PS2 Slim, a Wii U, & the original Nintendo Switch. As for the PS2, I know I can get audio out of it by simply using the AV Multi Out to RCA cable if I were to hook up to like an older tube/crt tv. No problem. And if I chose to use it with like a modern flat-screen tv in the future, thankfully I have that RCA to HDMI converter/adapter that I got off of Amazon. But since the Wii U has a different type of AV Multi Out port on it, I was wondering if any cables for it exist if I wanted to get audio out of it? Also, I think if I remember correctly that HDMI can provide audio as well, but not sure if it's dependent on like the version or whatever. [Feel free to correct me IF I'm wrong.] But yeah, I just want to explore all viable options on that. And finally, for the Nintendo Switch, I know it has a headphone jack on it & some pretty okay sounding speakers, but I'm not sure if it actually has Bluetooth or not. Still, since I have to use my monitor as a display for some of my console needs, it's not too big of a deal. My only concern with using the Switch with my monitor is if I could connect my speaker to it if I wanted better sound? For anyone wondering, I recently bought myself the LG UltraGear GP9 after watching the ShortCircuit video on it & seeing other really good reviews for it, I felt like it would be the perfect addition to my setup since I've been needing speakers for SO LONG! Anyway, I'm glad I finally decided to ask by putting this out there getting it off my chest since it didn't occur to me at the time. Like always, if any of you happen to have any questions for me or need more details, please be sure to ask & I will answer back. Thanks in advance!

So, my girlfriend wants a wii u and not a switch for some reason, and I'm looking around to try and find the cheapest ones. Does anyone here have a go-to place to buy used wii u's? I'll be getting one too. Also, I have a couple various questions: How does multiplayer work? Is it worth it to get the 32 Gb over 4Gb? What are the best games we could play? Sorry for the extremely nonspecific and wide questions but thanks in advance!

I'm curious what you guys call your favorites along with your favorite games for said console.

I'm planning on buying a Wii U so I can play the backlog off Wii and Wii U games then I haven't had the chance when I was younger (also GameCube). I would also like the option to take screenshots from inside the games while I'm playing. I know that there's some weird way through sharing it through some social media sites. But that's really slow, and you have to leave the game for every screenshot you wan't to take. I found a device on amazon that looks to have the functionality that I'm interested in, but I wanted to ask here first. Maybe you guys know a better/cheaper way. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076ZWVSLW/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_r4-sDbVFHS0PW What I need it to be able to do: +Possibility to take a screenshot +And a button to trigger this from couch distance +As cheap as possible -I'm not interested in capturing video and taking screenshots afterwards on my PC (I could do the same thing from youtube let's plays, but I don't wan't to waste my time with that).

Here's an article Good news all emulator lovers! CEMU, the Wii U emulator can now run not one, not two, but multiple games so far at very impressive speed! There's graphical issues still, but this is incredible progress! The CEMU team can now measure performance in FPS rather than SPF Youtube videos: As far as I know, this marks a significant step in the emulator world, so this is tech news I guess? Move it into console gaming if this doesn't belong here, sorry mods! The 1.4.0 build is available for patreons only for now, it'll be available for the public soon. Patreon people get builds early, so go donate if you want it now! Or donate either way, the team behind Cemu is friggin awesome! Personally very excited for this, perhaps in just a year or two, we'll be able to run Wii U games at 4k with enchanced graphics! What do you guys think?

So, im planning on getting a Wii U (If the NX isn't really interesting), im gonna get the black 32gb version. So, if im getting most of my games retail, is it necessary to get an External Hard Drive??!!! Im planning on getting Exclusives Only. If so, what hdd?
-
Im getting a Wii U soon if the NX doesn't seem that good, but today i noticed that there is no Ethernet Port on the back. Now i went online and saw something like it can support external LAN Cables. Can someone tell me how that works and what they recommend me getting (Amazon)? Not that I like WiFi, just like to have Wired for the best experience. Thanks

So its a legit thing that has been announced with the recent Nintendo direct, Cloud is coming folks and I don't know how I feel about it.....

I plan on buying a Wii U sometime soon but I have been trying to figure out what I will do for video and sound. I would really like to be able to just plug the hdmi into my desktop using a card and it would display the video and audio on my computer. I could plug it into my monitor but then I would have no audio, and if I did want audio I would have to pull my desktop out to plug the sound cable into the Wii U. I have an old 720p tv that could output sound and video but I really want to use my 1080p monitor since it has better color and resolution. So my question is, is there an inexpensive pcie card that can just take the hdmi signal and display it? I know there are expensive capture cards but I'm not really looking to record it, just display it.

After seeing some of the franchises included in Lego Dimensions I've been thinking about getting it, but I don't know which console to get it on. I currently have an Xbox 360 and a Wii U, so which would be best? I'm not too bothered about how good the graphics or fps is; I'm more interested in which would have a better gameplay experience.

Just another fan of the franchise disappointed more on Nintendo's silence regarding the release than its delay (better late than awful, eh?). I was just curious as to whether there were any others looking forward to its release, and if you'd be willing to share your thoughts on the game itself, its delay, Nintendo's lack of disclosure regarding the release, and the possibility of it not being a Wii U release at all (rather, a Nintendo 'NX' launch title).

I want a gamecube controller adapter for my wii u, but the ones nintendo made an released are either sold out or super overpriced, so i was wondering about this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAYFLASH-Wii-U-PC-USB-4-Port-GameCube-Controller-Adapter-for-Super-Smash-Bros/111626273451?_trksid=p2045573.c100506.m3226&_trkparms=aid%3D555014%26algo%3DPL.DEFAULT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150817211709%26meid%3D722c715b2ca441c39cef0df1ac2faa20%26pid%3D100506%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26 . I remember i got an unnofficial wiimote controller and it was laggy and just really bad. Mayflash is a company that I've bought adapters from before, n64 to PC etc. Do you think it would work just like the ones nintendo sold(it seems like a pretty hard device to mess up).

Today Nintendo, The Pokémon Company and Bandai Namco have announced that the Pokémon fighting game Pokkén Tournament is coming to the Wii U worldwide in the spring 2016. The announcement was made during the Pokémon Worlds Championship 2015 Opening Ceremony. I can't wait to play this game! It is a good time to be a Pokémon fan. source: Pokemon.com

So this went down earlier today. Anyone else looking forward to XCX? Reminds me a lot of FF12, which would be great. Hiroyuki Sawano seems to be giving us an awesome musical experience as well.

Hey guys. I am in desperate need of a new PC. My current rig sports an AMD Phenom ii X4 965, HD 7770 GHZ 1 GB, and 4 GB of RAM. I think it is high-time I build the machine I have been dreaming about (not really, dreaming about PCs would be kinda weird). Anyhoo, I was thinking of selling my PS4 and Wii U. Together, by selling the consoles themselves with all of the games and accessories I have for each, I can make about $1050. That money combined with the money I make at my job, could easily give me my computer and a lot of extra money for the Steam Summer Sale and game releases. What do you guys think? Should I sell or keep my consoles? Part List: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Dtignor/saved/sbxNnQ P.S. I'm 15 so I don't have to pay bills, rent, car payment, ect. P.P.S. Because I know so many of you are going to mention/ask it;Yes I do have money saved for college and I already have a car.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SECWlFInyFM Doesn't it? What's more interesting tho' is the map, which looks gigantic, and the gameplay elements they showed off. There's even a hint about picking apples off trees and eating them. I really hope the game will be that open and rich, letting you eat, prepare for long journeys and stuff. Maybe we'll see an open world game done right for a change. As of now the only game I played that grasped slightly what an open world game should feel like is probably Dragon's Dogma, console wise. What d'you guys think? To me this video is enough to blow any """more powerful""" console away.

With the holiday season approaching I have been making my mind up on what I want. I have narrowed it down to a GTX970 or the Wii U. I had the original Wii as a kid and played it every morning and day until about 2 years ago when it slowly petered out. But I do occasionally play Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Mario Brothers Wii. I also want a GTX970 to play future games that come out at ultra at 1080 60+ fps. Right now I have a GTX760 and it does the job but I want to play GTA 5 for PC maxed out when it comes out so I still am not sure if I can play it. I would like to hear from people that have a Wii U. Is it as good as the original or is it just a higher power version with some shine added to the games.
