Hi, Is anyone else having Task Manager Not Responding Randomly? Notice all text goes bold and stops responding. Simply closing it and restarting Task Manager fixes it again for a bit. Sometimes works fine for days at a time. Happening randomly and has been doing this crap since I've been using Win11 22H2 (was a clean install FYI). Have not been able to figure out the cause. Nothing is reported in Windows Event Log for example when this happens. Event viewer simply shows: The program Taskmgr.exe version 10.0.22621.2361 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel. Best, Will

I recently noticed that task manager always indicates that my cpu is sitting at 100% usage. Despites having no lag whatsoever, no problems, the processor not heating up, the cpu fan not spinning that much, etc.... So basically every indicator is all green except for the official microsoft one. And when using a "proper task manager" like Process Hacker I get results more in line with what I except. So my question is, did anyone noticed similar results recently ? Did microsoft messed up again ?

The Problem Been having this problem for a while, and it varies, which is incredibly annoying. File explorer, when freezing/crashing, can not be restarted with Task Manager. Whenever I right click on the task and click restart, file explorer closes and does not re open. I am unable to re open the program using run, nor am I able to use windows+e, or command prompt, or powershell. The only way I can get File Explorer to re-open is either by restarting my machine, or logging out of and back into my account. The cause of the crash varies; oftentimes, however, it's things like: Right clicking on files, internal drives & network drives Creating new files Renaming files (This doesn't happen every time I try and perform these operations) I also have to restart File Explorer every time I boot my computer up. My taskbar doesn't populate until I've unlocked all my drives (which are encrypted with Bitlocker). Often enough, Task Manager doesn't relaunch File Explorer. Steps I've Taken Ran SFC /Scannow multiple times. Fixed corruptions the first time, found no more on repeated attempts. Ran DISM (CleanupImage, ScanHealth, RestoreHealth) Re installed Windows. (This was a while ago now, however the problem existed before and still exists after the re install) Ran multiple virus & malware scans, all clean. Would appreciate some help, if anyone's able to.

Windows 10 Task Manager takes about 5 seconds to close. After clicking the x it goes white and just shows Task manager and File Options and View Tabs and all white in the box below them. Its not debilitating, as my system still runs good, its just an annoying very minor glitch/bug i'd like to fix if possible. I did chkdsk and sfcscannow and nothing of note. I'd show a pic of what i mean but everytime i print screen and put it on paint it doesnt show the task manager glitching for some reason. Hi! I'ts my first time posting here. I recently built my first PC by gutting an old rig I was gifted and replacing most of the components with some parts I found on the used market. The specs are as follows: - Intel i5 10400f with OEM fan - PowerColor Hellhound RX 6600 - Corsair vengeance 16gb RAM (2400Mhz increased to 2667 with XMP) - Asrock H510M-HDV/M.2 - Kingston 480 GB SSD + Seagate 2 TB HHD - Talius 600W PSU (Not replaced) - Generic Mars Gaming case (Kept from old build) The PC seems to run quite well all things considered, but I have run into a slight issue trying to monitor my CPU usage while playing games. Using something more CPU intensive like RPCS3 only reports me a CPU usage below 20 percent, while clearly noticing my fan ramp up. AMD Adrenalin drivers seem to report a similarly reduced CPU usage percentage to MSI Afterburner, while task manager shows the processor ramping up to 100%, the other things seem to be OK. I'm not really sure what could have caused this difference, I haven't really touched BIOS settings apart from XMP (I think I noticed this issue before changing that). If you know anything that could resolve this issue (or any other issue I might have, really) I would really appreciate the help! I have attached an image below:

So today i was trying to go through the task manager and see what programs are running and what really caught my eye is the DWM-1 process or the dwm.exe, which i couldn't identify at first but than of course i tried to end the process but no luck. It wouldn't stop neither when i tried to change the priority it said i needed administrator to do that?! Has anyone experienced this yet in the newest update from windows 10 pro? I also read that this process is a second logged in user, like a school or work account but tbh i only have a school account which i do not use a second user in windows. So whenever i try to end the process it wont end and also uses a lot of RAM. Does or has anyone else experienced this if yes i need someone to tell me how tf to end it and i also noticed that there is a virtual HDD, which i did not create but i did try to check on how to. I think someone is watching my screen like team-viewer but lol with ip address and mac address... if you know how it works lol. I would really like to get an explanation on whatever the hell is this process doing and what caused it to run! Also here a picture of the process!

Recently I found out a task called: WindowsFormsApp1, has been using up a lot of my CPU. At one point, it went up to 99 percent for some bizarre reason. When I ended it, CPU usage went down to 1-10 percent. Can someone explain what this is, and is there a way I can remove this?

Hello, new member here just to ask if frequently hitting the level of memory usage exampled by the screenshot below warrants getting more RAM. In particular what I notice is that I frequently have the same amount "Available" as I have "Cached". This is both a gaming and work machine and I frequently end up with a lot of things open (not to mention chrome tabs). Thanks for your help.

This issue been going for a few weeks now. Task manager says my GPU is going from a low% to 100% then back to low%. It's been causing frame drops in-game to the point where you can't play. However, Radeon software says the GPU is running fine with no issue. The problem comes and goes with no clear cause. I've tried doing things like update the drivers but that hasn't helped. Any advice?

High cpu usage but only on CPU1 until i open task manager
MD Utsho posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I'm facing this weird high (100%) CPU usage only on core1/CPU1 I don't know which one is using that kind of high CPU since it comes back normal instantly when I open task manager. First i've noticed this when i was playing halo master chief collection, normally this game usages 20% of cpu and temp is 40C on avg, but sometimes later it reaches 52C with 50% cpu usage, so not just game, it'll still happen when i'm idle or browsing. If i keep task manager on all the time, CPU1 won't use 100% cpu anymore like this Is this some kind of windows bug or virus? i've tried scanning for virus (found some and cleaned/removed them) still facing this Also tried scanning and fixing with sfc /scannow but that didn't help either, Also when it was using 100% speed on CPU1 i've tried closing discord & other softwares one by one, but still using 100% means those are not the problem here. So in the performance tab under task manager there are two GPUs - GPU 0 and GPU 1. Now I've heard that GPU 0 is the integrated GPU while GPU 1 is the dedicated GPU. But in my case, GPU 0 is actually my dedicated NVIDIA GPU(Geforce GTX 1650) and GPU 1 is my integrated GPU(Rx Vega My Laptop is an ASUS TUF Gaming FX705DT and I want to know if this is an issue or not. It was never the other way round as far as I know.

When I use the TOP command I am overwhelmed with the vast response. What are things I can lookout for when trying to make sense of it all? In windows taskmanager things are simple and familiar but I don't know what I should be looking out for in TOP results in terms of security and unusual behaviour...

I downloaded a game trainer and Windows asked me what to open it with. It was an .exe file. All the other game trainers opened as they should. So, in the 'open with' context menu, I chose the game trainer .exe file to open the .exe file. Now, when I try to open, it just goes in a loop. I deleted the file but it didn't change anything. I tried deleting something in the registry, but a no go. How do I undo my stupidity?

Having an interesting problem. I have a 3080Ti with a Corei9 9900KS CPU on a MSI Z390 Godlike Motherboard running under Windows 11. I have 3 monitors, an ROG XG27UQR (4K 144Hz) set as my main display in lanscape mode, a ROG PG279Q (1440p 144Hz) in portrait mode both connected via DP. My third monitor is an LG TV, the OLED55CXPUA on an HDMI 2.1 cable. What I have been observing is that the Desktop Windows Manager process is using a ton of my GPU, sometimes as much as 100%. I have attached a screenshot of the Task Manager showing the Desktop Windows Manager using 100% of my GPU. HWMonitor doesn't agree that I am using 100% of my GPU and shows a much smaller usage in the attached screenshot. MSI Afterburner also doesn't agree with Task Manager but I do see my GPU running at about 50°C so it's for sure doing something. I have done a clean install of my Nvidia Graphics Drivers and installed any pending Windows Updates. Additionally I have used Winaero Tweaker to turn off or kill almost all the bloat in Windows 11.

I booted up my computer and started the Task Manager because I noticed that my HDD was very noisy. It turned out that the EA App was updating a game so that's fine. I then noticed that my GPU (an RTX 3080 Ti) was being 100% percent utilized when I had no games or apps running (apart from the necessary Windows services and the aforementioned EA App). I opened up the GeForce Experience performance overlay and noticed that utilization was around 1-2% percent there. Which one should I trust? I've attached two screenshots from both the Task Manager and GeForce Experience performance overlay.

Apps aren't appearing on my windows 11 task manager startup tab. So I can't dis(able) which apps start automatically on startup. I've tried 1. restarting windows explorer on task manager 2. 'startup' folder was in the correct location 3. (dis)abling startup apps on 3rd party apps (like 'c cleaner') 4.Command Promt(sfc /scannow, DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth) I haven't tried adding apps manually to the 'startup' folder because I want it to be automatic. What should I do?

When ever I try to open task manager, it takes alot of time to load and the window says 'not responding' for some time (video attached below) after which it works properly. It has been happening since I bought this laptop. All I've done till date is added another stick of ram. EDIT:- I have a Dell Inspiron 7591 Laptop. i5-9300H cpu , gtx 1050ti, 16gb 2666Mhz ram and NVMe SK Hynix 512 gb ssd. 647295300_2022-05-3018-22-12.mp4

It really bothers me that E: is at the top of the list of my drives because i mainly use task manager to monitor things. Is there a way to put it in alphabetical order where its supposed to be? I have tried switching the sata ports my drives are connected to on my mobo but they show up the same in task manager. FYI all my drives are SATA drives.

This isn't necessarily an issue, but I'm wondering what this random program that appears in the startup tab on task manager is. It's simply called "program" and the icon is a blank white sheet. What mostly confuses me is that it appears on both my laptop and my gaming desktop. I don't remember exactly when it appeared, and I have no idea what it could be. It's not causing any problems, but it would be nice to know what the heck it is, and if there's a way for me to get rid of it. I've included a picture below showing what I'm talking about.
