I just posted this on the r/Minecraft subreddit though thought I'd post this here too. I might be more than a day late but life got in the way! If like me you prefer to play with shaders in order to make a snapshot playthrough something more long term then this is the post for you! I haven't yet seen a post related to getting this working and whilst I am sure a lot of people out there may know how to do this I also feel as though I should make others aware of it too! Keep reading below to reproduce this yourself. Before and after enabling shaders on 24w14potato Snapshot Step 1 - Make sure the Minecraft Poisonous Potato (24w14potato) update is installed in the default Minecraft launcher (Download the 24w14potato snapshot and open it at least once, then close down the game and the launcher if it is still running). Step 2 - Download the Universal Jar from Iris Shaders website. Make sure Java is installed to double-click this. Step 3 - Open the Universal Jar that was just downloaded (Iris-Installer-3.2.0.jar) and select the game version - Look for '24w14potato' in the drop down. If done correctly the 'Use Distant Horizons beta version' check box should be disabled and there should also be text in yellow saying 'Warning: 24w14potato is a snapshot build and may lose support at any time'. Step 4 - Select the installation type. In this case select 'Iris Only' (Unfortunately 'Iris + Fabric' will crash on launch) and make sure that the Installation Directory is set to the default .minecraft folder. Select Install! Step 5 - Re-Open the Minecraft Launcher, inside the installation tab should now be a version called 'Iris & Sodium for 24w14potato'. Select Play and that's the installation complete! Go grab a shader and have fun! In the case your block borders have now become really thick with a shader pack turned on, try with a texture pack. This sorted it for me. Only working for Java edition currently.

Hey all, was super hyped to play Tekken 8 today but the world had other plans. Every time I launch the game, it crashes with this error message: LowLevelFatalError [File:D:\p4\eagle\v100_xx2-build_pkg_win\ue\Engine\Source\Runtime\RenderCore\Private\ShaderCodeArchive.cpp] [Line: 354] ShaderCodeArchive::DecompressShader(): Could not decompress shader (GetShaderCompressionFormat=Oodle) Occasionally i'll get a "Not enough VRAM" error, i could not get the exact wording since it's extremely random. While writing this post, I then got this error message. i've only seen it twice. LowLevelFatalError [File:D:\p4\eagle\v100_xx2-build_pkg_win\ue\Engine\Source\Runtime\RHI\Private\PipelineStateCache.cpp] [Line: 348] Shader compilation failures are Fatal. If I don't recieve these errors, the game hangs and is stuck in a "Not Responding" state. My system specs are as follows: CPU: i9-13900K (Not Overclocked) GPU: RTX3080Ti MoBo: Tuf Gaming B760-PLUS WiFi RAM: 32GB Game is installed on an SSD. I have already done the following: Updated GPU Driver Verified game file integrity Tried to undervolt the CPU - Intel XTU Will NOT let me change my P-Cores down to 52x like everyone is recommending and i don't know why This is a fairly fresh install of windows (less than two months old) Tried running the game as administrator Tried running the game under Windows 8 Compatability mode. Tried both! There are extemely limited resources for troubleshooting online, which has lead me to create this post. from my research, the 13900k is just awful on stock settings and i should change it. funny that. I have also made a reddit post about this, i would like to get this resolved ASAP. Please, if you know how to fix this or could work with me on this i would be extremely appreciative. I just wanna play tekken, man.

Greetings everyone, Today I've started to encounter a very weird issue. All of my games that require shaders compilation just all crash as soon as shaders compilation starts. I wanted to play Hogwarts or COD Vanguard, Hogwarts was unable to start in any scenario but I was able to play Vanguard, I've rebooted my PC and now it says it needs to compile shaders and just crashes as soon as I open it. I've already did a clean install of the GPU driver, my windows and BIOS are updated and I didnt change any component inside my PC, just installed my new monitor today but I think that's unrelated. How could I fix this?

Hello! Before I begin, my system specs are an i5 12600k, 32GB of RAM, and an RTX 3060. A few months ago, I created a Java Minecraft server that I ran on my PC, and I had my friend connect to it. I had zero issues with performance; I monitored the system as well, and just as I had thought, the two cores being used didn't even peak 20% according to Core Temp. I can't see anything unusual when I monitor my system's specs. However, as time progressed, something odd has been happening: my world has certain points around my home base where the FPS drops to 50 FPS using Complementary shaders. Thinking it was the shaders, I removed them, but to no avail. Ordinarily, I get up to 200 FPS just roaming the world, but something around my base seems to be causing a drop. I see no change in my system's usage or anything... it just drops for no reason I can think of. I updated drivers (and yes, I restarted—LOL), but nothing changed. I can't figure it out for the life of me. Any help or something to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, so I've been trying to figure out why my framerate in minecraft with shaders is so low, and my gpu usage is low as well, peaking at 50%, and usually sitting at around 10-20. I have allocated 6 gigs of ram for minecraft, and have an r5 1600 and an rx 5700. I am using bsl shaders on the medium present, no settings changed except vigentte and motion blur disabled. I get anywhere from 5-40 fps, and get 100-200 fps without the shaders, so I don't think it's a cpu bottleneck. I seem to get low framerate regardless of what settings I use, except completely turning them off. Is there any optifine setting or shader setting that tanks performance on amd cards? Also, is there anything I should change in the driver settings? edit: forgot to say what my render distance was. I have it set to 24, but this was tested on hypixel in the main lobby, away from any people, so it's whatever render distance is the maximum on hypixel edit 2: I found this solution elsewhere, would this do anything if I could somehow replicate it on amd? "Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings, and set Threaded Optimization to Off, and Low Latency Mode to Off." edit 3: I apparently did notr have 6 gb allocated, and only had 2. I forgot to do that after reinstalling minecraft.

Hi! I know that Log4j has mostly blown over (I think), and that it's been patched. However, I just had a few questions about some of the more untouched parts about it, though... 1) Were mods and shaders for minecraft affected by Log4j? If so, is it safe to download them now? 2) Was thinking about getting a server for me and my friends. I was thinking about Aternos, as it's free and not as much coding - however, I believe Aternos servers are not hosted on my computer nor are they hosted on my network (I think - correct me if I'm wrong, please), so would using Aternos instead of hosting one on my PC provide an extra layer of protection if an attack like log4j were to happen again? (On a side note, if anyone has messed with Aternos, could somebody please share their experiences? Was wondering if it's a safe alternative to paid servers, as I heard they MAY have had a security breach in the past - don't quote me on that, though) (On another side note, let me know if this post belongs in Video Games, instead, as this post could fit both forums) Thanks to anyone who helps!

My Minecraft Shaders are running poorly. I have a GTX 1080 TI Auros xtreme 11gb, it seems to be working fine and good on other games, but when I run Minecraft Shaders, my GPU usage is low so I get low fps, if I turn up the graphics, the usage can increase but stay around 30 to 40 fps. Its like my Gpu wants to stay at that fps, idk why it does not have high usage at low Shader level. I dont suspect its a bottleneck, because I have an intel i5 10600K runs well, 16gb drr4 ram 3200mhz and m.2ssd

Alright, this isn't really the right forum, however, everywhere else I posted it my request got ignored. The point of my question that I would like to pull the trigger on a 1650 Super I saw on sale for 200$ Canadian. I will be recording gameplay with OBS 1080p 60fps (Silder's Basic Shaders). I am asking this question because this processor is very old and the single core/thread performance is extremely important in Minecraft. Any other specs and details will be listed below- 48 Gigs of 1333mz ram Current GPU is a NVS Quadro 290 (barely get 720p 30 fps with it) 1100WATT PSU (HP z800) Dual CPU Configuration (totaling 12 cores 24 threads) And hey, I might record some other games for my YouTube channel. There are no other external resources and or videos about this configuration and processor, henceforth me reaching out to you guys. Thanks, xniqht

so with my bsl shaders all of the maps are just black. im not seeing anything online on how to fix this. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem or not. Let me know, Thanks!

So I tend to play minecraft a lot with my friends, and I have since gotten into shaders and optifine. However, my fps is pretty low for me. While other people with the same graphics card and a less powerful processor such as the 1600 get 400fps vanilla, 100ish fps shaders, I only get about 200fps vanilla, 45 shaders. And that's not even with a texture pack. I've tried everything I could. Enabled XMP up to 3200mhz, installed optifine, tweaked nvidia settings. I'm wondering if this giant tech forum could finally give me an answer to why my rig was severely underperforming (all my other games run fine though)

Using a gtx 1060 nvidia driver 430, about 30-ish fps with bsl. pretty smooth, but the fps is that low. same settings seus gets 70-ish fps. little higher. i like bsl better, so any recommendations? i have optifine and bsl on btw. also i have a java minecraft server, i think its joinable. hard to say.

Hello, all! I'm a game developer living in the United States who is looking to upgrade my current system. Normally, I'd just go with my gut instincts on what I think is best for my workflow, however I have a few questions I feel like this community could help with. This is my first post so I apologize for any mistakes/lacking information. I'll do my best and will respond to any questions. My maximum budget is: $2,500. My workflow consists of the following: Unreal Engine 4, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator. Games are not my primary concern as my current system has no issues with gaming. My main issue with my current build is: Shader Compile Times. Game Build Times. General Compile Times for Code. My Current System Specs Intel i7 7700K 16GB of 1200MHz Ram (AWFUL, I know.) Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080ti I use Unreal Engine 4 to create games and applications for professional clientele while also creating my own projects as such I require quite a lot of storage. I was quite certain upgrading from my current 7700K to the new R9 3900X would be enough of an upgrade for my workflow but I'm seeing some conflicting information from various benchmarking sites... as such I'd ask for honest opinions on this upgrade. I have a PCPartPicker list and would appreciate any input: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bb2KQq Again, I apologize if I've missed any helpful information and I thank you for your time! Hi, I've recently got into streaming again, and I wanted to make my stream look beautiful (as always it won't). When I wanted to use some kind of shader, I found a big problem, my Minecraft is capped at 30 FPS with Shaders on, but it goes into 400FPS without shaders. I've tried extreme path tracing shaders, and shaders like Seus LITE (the one that works on intel integrated graphics fine), tried any combination of these, from extremely low end shaders, to the Seus PTGI 14 path tracing, all with the same 30 FPS. Things I have tried to fix this issue: 1. Go into the nvidia control panel thingy, add javaw.exe to the 3d application settings panel, set the threaded optimization off and on, low latency, max frame rate, power management, vsync, all the possible combinations (of off and on, and 144 - 288fps for the max framerate, since I have a 144hz monitor) 2. Tried changing to different 1.15.2 optifine versions, the older beta and newer beta, and opti-fabric. 3. Tried using 1.12.2 and 1.14 4. Tried multiple versions of optifine for those versions 5. Yes, I tried to even upgrade repair, reset to stock and reinstall Windows 10 (I can't move to Linux since 90% of my software doesn't work on it. Believe me, I want to move to Linux, but I can't.) Specs: GPU: Asus Rog Strix Cu Oc II GTX 970, driver version 445.87. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 @ 4.2GHz, under 70 degrees constant, with all the AMD chipset and ryzen master drivers things installed. Mobo: MSI B450 Gaming Plus, latest msi bios for this mobo. Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16GB 3000 CL 16 kit, oc'd ad 3200 CL 16 (i've been lucky asf here). Will provide further info if asked to. Thanks for reading my post, and thanks in advance for trying to help me, luv u <3.

So if i lock the clock with afterburner and play minecraft with sildurs shaders it will stay locked at 2000mhz but if i switch to SEUS shaders the clock speed gets forced to around 1300mhz. how could a minecraft shader be forcing the clock speed to lower?

Hey guys. I recently built a new PC, and have always wanted to run shaders on Minecraft but never was able to. This is my specs: Cpu- Ryzen 5 2600 Gpu- RTX 2060 6GB System ram- 16GB DDR4 Motherboard- Fatal1ty x370 k4 PSU- 650W PSU Drives- 240GB SSD 2TB 7200RPM HDD and a network card. but whenever I run a shader pack on Minecraft, I’m running around 30-40FPS. I don’t understand, my CPU and GPU should be more than capable of handling this load. It’s not that I really need shaders to work, I’m just super confused, please help me understand or help me make it work

I'm trying to use ANY good looking low end shader pack with minecraft, but any pack i install causes my game to run at ~30fps, otherwise the game only runs at ~150fps. This is with render distance of 20. I am aware minecraft java edition is very unoptimized; I am aware shaders cause fps drops. As far as i know, all drivers and java are updated to latest. Specs: win10 i7-7700k 1080 ti OS & game installed on samsung m.2 ssd

Thanks for all your help in advance. I have been looking all over for information on what I would need to build a PC that can run Minecraft Windows 10 Bedrock edition at 1080p, at lest 60fps with shaders enabled with potential for upgrade later when their new Render Dragon system launches with ray tracing. If anyone has any experience with running this game with shaders and would be willing to share their builds or at least point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Hello! Im having a problem with running Minecraft @60fps in 4k with “Seus Renewed” shaders(with default shader settings). Im trying to run this in a modpack: Sevtech. The reason I’m concerned about the frames im getting is because this Youtuber(ChosenArchitect) is using the same exact shaders pack and modpack as I am but he is getting more frams and I have a 1080ti. The only difference between him and I are, is he playing @1080p while recording and im playing @4k. My specs: i7-8700k @4.7ghz (default) 16gb(2x8gb) of Corsair Vengeance pro rgb @3000mhz CAS 16 ddr4 evga gtx 1080ti ftw3 @default speeds Win 10 pro 64bit (Playing in 4k) The Youtuber’s(ChosenArchitect) specs: i7-4820k @OC 4ghz 16gb(4x4gb) @1866 Adata XPG V2 Nvidea gtx 1070 8gb 2tb hard drive Win 10 home 64bit (Playing on 1080p, and recording) Shaders pack im trying to use: https://sonicether.com/download/seus-renewed-v1-0-0/ Modpack: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/sevtech-ages Youtuber’s Channel: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UClmdJ2bwqHjZONP9rIK7geA

Hi. I'm thinking about buying new GPU. My main focus is not gaming, but creating very heavy fragment shaders. Like once on shadertoy.com. I was comparing Nvidia 1080ti and AMD Vega64. And I'm bit confused. According to 3dmark benchmark results 1080ti is far better ( benchmarks.ul.com ). But according to Wiki Vega64 have more GFlops, so in theory it should have better results. Can somebody with thous cards or similar check that link, and post how much FPS you have on witch card ? www.shadertoy.com/view/4tByz3 I will be grateful. On my current GTX 690 it is 7FPS in windowed mode. And 1.5FPS on fullHD fullscreen. I'm also open for suggestions for different cards. And yes, I'm planing to buy non RTX grapchis card just to do RayTracing. Nvidia, sue me.

I want shaders but my computer chokes on almost every shader. Vanilla Minecraft is 400+ fps because minecraft is CPU bound, but any gpu work and my computer just chokes. Specs: Intel Core i7 4700MQ @3.1GHz Intel HD Graphics 4600 8 GB of DDR3 -1600 RAM
