Help enabling Windows Copilot(Europe)?
Lorenz_who_else posted a topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
Hello guys, as the title states, im in Europe and need help enabling Windows Copilot because europe is alwayst the last to every party. I tried: -Enabling it with the Registry Following this path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced didnt work TurnOffWindowsCopilot DWORD was already 0 -Afterwards I tried Group policy following this path: User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Copilot There I could actually change the setting "turnoffcopilot" from unconfigured to disabled. Afterwards, I restarted the pc, nothing happened. -Then I tried ViVeTool using the admin commandpromt and putting in /enable /id:44774629,44776738,44850061,42105254,41655236 and it said I succesfully changed the settings. I restart the PC, nothing happened. -I tried the shortcut-method too, but it jut opens Microsoft Edge So, thats where Im at right now, I hope I made some sorts of mistake and some smart guy can tell me what my mistake was:) If anyone uses any of these methods, please tell me the result, positive or not, so I know if its a me or an all problem. -
Linus comments a lot on WAN show about having issues with showing web results in Windows 11 search. I agree that this is annoying and that it should be easily disabled. For those that want to spend the minor effort it CAN be disabled via a registry tweak. This does not solve the inconsistency/illogical way the search works, just removes web results. I have personally made this change and it does work. Link below. How to Disable Windows Web Search and Speed Up Your PC | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com) I hope y'all make use of it and save yourselves from bad Windows searches, LTT staff included

I used the regedit hack to stop updates but it didnt work. I use a p104-100 gpu on linux so it is somewhat required. I only use the windows for minecraft with shaders. So updates are quite literally not needed. So how would i stop them? On each reboot i get update loops. Not even login screen. It is rather bad. As is having my pc's ability to do anything cut off. As per 7gb of my 16 (rest is used by igpu) being taken up. Can bearly run a file explorer.

Hi, Can you tweak some setting so that Windows 10 starts showing false specs. For example, Windows shows 4 GB RAM installed, can I change some registry file so it shows something else? Thanks.

So I started a similar topic on TH but then I realized this is probably a better place to ask. I am trying to install Sims 3 on a VM for my niece (last time she had access to my pc for an extended period I got malware). The problem is that Sims 3 checks your gpu for compatability and if it isnt listed in the games gpu list then you have to add it manually. The problem is that when running a VM the virtual gpu obviously isnt on the list of supported gpus and it adding it is very hard since every manufacturer has custom made rules for their gpus. I tried tinkering and converting the rules from other manufacturers to get the virtual GPU to work but to no avail. The thing is that the game tries to set video settings to suit the gpu (which you later can change), but if it isnt recognized it wont even give you the chance to set the settings. (EA.. pls...) I got the idea that if I could change the VM gpu information in the registry to have identical information to say an nvidia 460, the game would start propperly. The thing is tho I dont really know how where to start, I need the dxdiag to output identical display info as it would with a supported gpu. I am running windows 10, I would switch to linux and make it easier on me but I cant because of adobe. Worst case scenario I might have to dualboot linux and then through that run a VM with a gpu passthrough with AMD and Nvidia at the same time (the only 2 gpus I own, sadly fx8350 doesn't intergrated graphics). Lastly; is there any possibility to create a virtual device that would mimic a gpu just cosmetically? As in only look as if a gpu is connected so that Sims can let the game launch? Thanks in advance, 1k cookie points to whoever solves this.

Hey Guys, Just builded a new system for a client of mine. It needed cam software for the hue+ where it woudn't start up from a clean boot but it always does from restart. so i contacted NZXT and they tried to help me with this problem. But then i went to try enabling numblock in login screen, you know just a regedit fix right... Well random problem it works after restart but not on clean boot same as the cam software wich runned fine for like 3 days at first. I'm thinking ... Windows issue ? or bios/cmos related anyone got an idea to fix this? specs: i7 - 6700 4x4GB corsair ram 2133 mhz (ddr4) Asus z170 pro gaming (atx version) latest bios installed asus Gtx 1070 dual OC samsung 850 evo 500GB and windows 10 pro version 1607 Thx in advance

I have been having an issue with games crashing after a few seconds of running them. I play any game using DX, and the game crashes after I'm passed the menu and when it starts using graphics. I updated my drivers, and contacted Microsoft Support, but they just screwed up my Services. Can somebody help me? Games that crash: WD2, CSGO, Mafia 3, Cities Skylines, ETS2

I want a software that opens a .reg file and says what it edits before I use it on my windows registry, I don't really want to be screwed..does anything like that exist?

Does someone know methods of editing registry outside of windows or using non-Windows apps while in Windows? Backstory: I screwed up, wanted to install AutoCAD, which didn't detect installed .NET 4.5. I decided to reinstall it since it helped earlier, but everything went wrong when I realized that Visual Studio 2017 installed .NET 4.7, wrote about it in registry, but not in distribution panel. And now I'm not able to do a thing,,, Neither uninstalling VS 2017 (it requires .NET 4.5 to do this), nor deleting a registry path that exists when .NET 4.5 is installed. P. S. Reinstalling an OS is not an option since it's father's laptop (mine is coming soon unprepared, so i need a PC for university for a while), there are some programs, for which I do not have installers with me and process of finding them is a pain in the butt, plus I don't have a lot of free time for getting that thing to work properly... Just need to delete one directory to make that thing running, that's all.

I'm unable to re-enable Windows Defender given the error of "Threat service has stopped restart it now." (and when i attempt to restart, it stalls and then gives error prompt) and sometimes "Page not available, Your IT Administrator has limited access to some areas of this app..." There is no other Windows devices on my network only mobile devices, my router/dns does not seem to be tampered with, Windows is fully updated, drivers updated, newest bios. I encountered this problem 3 days ago and since then i have; Clean installed windows twice, Cleared CMOS, regedit DisableAntiSpyware set to 0, Installed Malwarebytes after this issue and performed a full scan(0 results), Glanced through task manager, used my extremely limited knowledge in Wireshark and failed to find anything.

Hi Linus, Hope you doing great, We watched your hacked Nvidia driver video based on the P106 and ordered that. After arriving I just had the ivy bridge I5 3470 processor with Intel Motherboard to work with and tried all sorts of installation process which are Russian, American Also But Could not get this working and found out its not gonna work with IVY Bridge Processors. BUT WE EVENTUALLY STARTED PUBG and THIS IS ONLY GAME WHICH USES THE P106 WITH FULL POTENTIAL FOR SOME REASON DON't Know WHY Its working perfectly. EVEN if I remove the Intel HD GRAPhics And with the standalone P106 Display Driver It runs with full potential and Tried different methods hoping to get other games to be working but our luck is not with us. Since I'm Managed to check some windows debugging tools to check the game process using which REGistry Key to initiate the P106 Driver and Tweaked some Registry Keys. Still its not working. Could YOU PLEAse test this with IVY Bridge to test and FIGURE's out the solution for THIS . Its a humble request IF you can Help us and save our lives LOL. I Mean you really a true hero of Modern Technologies. Here is the link of the tool that I used to Check the Registry keys and process tree of the Game running https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/ and download the Process Monitor which is called Procmon.exe and please Try to get this working on IVY bridge. I will really appreciate this. Best Regards, Man of the Year

Yesturday, I had problems deleting this program called, UDPixel. A post said to delete the Regedit files labeled by that company or name. Ever since then, I have been getting these 2 second lag spikes in a game, from 20 ping to 200 ping. I know that deleting certain Regedit files can really mess up the computer, but I made sure to delete the ones labled as UDPixel, nothing else. So, can deleting a Regedit for a specific program actually damage things like my Wifi? Also, can a CPU overheating cause these lag spikes? My CPU gets to around 70 degrees while playing but these lag spikes only occurred after I deleted the UDPixel regedit.

I recently built a new PC, and i currently can’t afford a license key off of the Microsoft website. From what I can understand, i have two options, disable the notification and activation page in Regedit, or purchase one from a third party seller, which I don’t really want to do. So i would be glad if someone would show me how to change the values in regedit. I already know the location of the values.

Hello everyone! So I am testing some registry stuff (don't worry I have it all backed up), and was testing to change the CPU name in the specs that works even when restarting it. So I looked up some stuff on the web, and I found this to apply my registry : The processorNameString is the name i tried to give my cpu which is i7-6800K. Alright so what's wrong? You see, when I clicked to apply the registry it said that it's done, it was successful... But when I went into my PC specs it didn't change. Oh and about that stuff for keeping it "permanent", I read I could just create a shortcut of the registry and add it to the Startup on Windows so hoping that would work, but for now I need help on why the specs aren't changing. Thanks a lot!

So basically i have a program, which i cant install or uninstall(doesnt exist anywhere). When i try to install it says that a newer version is already installed. So apparantly the solution is: Solution: I've found in the registry thread under HKEY_USERS where DaVinci installation info is stored and deleted it. Then everything worked as it should! So what does that solution mean? I haven't touched windows registry keys and i have no idea where they are located or what they do. So can someone explain how can i use that solution?

so i was wondering something.. i "added" ram to my integrated graphics.. The value has changed from 128mb to 15xxmb, and ive had it up to 4096mb.. but my qyestion is, what is this actually changing? is just the displayed value changed? is the number sent to games changed? or did this actually allocate real physical memory from RAM to video RAM? i tested it out on every game i own... changed all the graphics settings to "high" or "ultra" and it gets laggy and choppy.. I dont think its my processor or System RAM, so i think even though the value of the video ram changed in adapter properties, i dont think it is actually using anything more than the 128mb of ram that was originally there.. Run.. regedit... local machine/ software/ Intel.. right click on intel.. new/ key.. Rename that new folder "GMM" (all caps, no quotes).. in the GMM folder, right click in the box to the right that shows the contents of the folders, new/ DWORD (32 bit) value.. rename that file "DedicatedSegmentSize" (just as written there, no spaces, first letter of each word capital, no quotes).. Double click "DedicatedSegmentSize" where it says "value Data" enter a number.... ( the exact value you enter is NOT the value of ram that you want... i entered 1024 and it gave me 4096mb.. i entered 512 and it gave me 1566mb.. havent figured that part out yet why it does that..) thats what i did. ive read that this does NOT work on integrated graphics 400 or lower.. and does NOT work on AMD integrated graphics.. works ONLY on intel. if anyone has any input that would be great.. or if anyone knows what that is actually doing, it would be awesome.. thanks in advance everyone.. lenovo ideapad 320 15iap windows 10 x64 quad core 1.1 - 2.5ghz 8GB ddr3 12800 Intel Integrated Graphics HD 505

I have experimented with this and it does work. On my old laptop, an Asus Rog G571JT with a 970m, 24GB RAM and a i7 4710 (I think), I took RAM I didn't use and plugged it into a regedit key which boosted my VRAM performance. You can do this with any Intel computer and at least 6GB+ of extra RAM. 1. Go to regedit 2. Local HKEY 3. Software 4. Intel 5. Create new Key as 'DVM' 6. Enter new Dword as 'dedicatedsegmentsize' 7. Set value in MB to above 6GB (1024x8=8192, 1024x10=10240, etc) 8. Click okay 9. Restart computer 10. Run bench to test visually 11. Visual performance Increase? Check. Simply change the value to 0 and delete then restart again to revert. EDIT here is a short test with Not using DVM vs using DVM. Note it is a short 8K test just to see some differences. Make sure to watch in 1080p.

I uninstall software from time to time, after uninstalling from the control panel, I go through the folders in windows to make sure there aren't any residue, after that, I also check my registry in regedit and remove any residue. But this time, I found a registry entry called 'MediaChance' which has the subregistry entry of 'Multimedia Player 4.9.8' which has the subregistry of 'Font' . I havev previously not noticed it before, the last program I have installed and uninstalled is 7Zip, I needed it to extract a rar file. I have exported the MediaChance registry and put it through virustotal, no engines there picked it up but I am still concerned about it. Someone please give me advice about what to do with it. If you can, please help me check if you guys also have this registry key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software as well please? I did some research about MediaChance, they have a twitter, claiming to make popular software but only has 17 followers. This is all too shady for me, please help me check your registries for this, if you have any other advice or suggestions or solutions I would so so extremely appreciative if you would share it with me, thanks in advance!

anbublackops657 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
ok so I recantly bought 4 of ( LINK ) for my MoBo ( LINK ) and poured over the QVL's and its not listed there and this might be my problem but extensive google searching and even searching on here has yeilded less results towards any help so I am asking on here now if anyone can help me get my extra 16gb of ram to work, i have already tried msconfig as indicated by the attached screenshot, Im just wondering if anyone else has had a better time of getting this to work. I will say that bios is only reading 16GB of ram BUT it IS seeing all 4 dims as occupied and working. i have found ( LINK ) in the qvl's and might need to just get 2 of those but i wanna make sure if it was the ram.- 7 replies

In my experience, registry cleaners cause more problems than they purport to fix. Unfortunately, I've seen YouTube videos from IT experts that still recommend using CCleaner. To be fair, if hardware or networking is your field of expertise, you might not spend enough time in front of consumer software to unearth these issues. Up until a few years ago, I used registry cleaning products from Norton and Revo Uninstaller. I've heard people talk about how good CCleaner is and I'm not impressed. As the go-to techie in the family, I try my best to provide accurate diagnostics. On a couple of different occasions that I can remember, using Revo Uninstaller resulted in a DLL error during startup on a family member's computer. I've never had a registry cleaner completely brick a computer, but if the goal is to fix a particular issue, DLL errors are the exact opposite of what you want. To perform a test, I fired up my VM and downloaded CCleaner. Note that this is a fresh install of Windows 10. It's a 90-evaluation copy for testing. Here are the results of my initial scan: What concerns me is that the .NET Framework is tied into many different programs so it's entirely possible that deleting these could result in unintended issues down the line.

So I have a K95 keyboard, with a volume wheel on it, which is great. I just went to windows 10 a few days ago, before that, on windows 7, I ran 3RVX to always have a volume slider on the screen when using the wheel, which worked fine. However windows 10 has this built in. When I use the wheel, the slider is on the top left. However I sometimes use the slider on the button right with my mouse as well, and that slider is on the bottom right, and looks better (bigger). Is there a way to make the wheel always show up the bottom right slider? Because that looks better. And then I don't have to be confused at where to look when changing volume. I have no problem with regedit if that's needed. Thanks!

Ok guys, yesterday I was trying to unlock some more power limit availability from 20 to 50 in msi afterburner by messing around with regedit. I followed a guide on overclock.net. Anyways it didn't work and now when I try oveerclocking my screen turns black for a minute and my computer restarts. Additionally before this started to happen I experienced a BSOD where it said thread stuck in device driver. Please help, I really don't want my machine to die on something I did and software wise too! I have an r9 380 which is the gpu in question and a fx 8320 cpu and a 750 watt evga supernova. I could Overclock before i messed around in regedit any way to fix this? Also i remember clicking something on my exported regedit file that said it was saved somewhere, perhaps that is a problem. Pls help!
