  3. So I'm planning on building a PC for my fiance, he mostly just plays minecraft and the sims, but his Minecraft experience is very poor, and I feel like he'd play a lot more games if he had the equipment to do it on. He's also an artist and wants to get into animation. Now I'm doing this parts and ideas list at work so I can't do a PCPartPicker list, only a Newegg/Amazon list. So what I've planned out so far is: Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L Micro ATX Tower https://www.newegg.com/black-cooler-master-masterbox-q300l-micro-atx/p/N82E16811119331?Item=N82E16811119331 ASUS PRIME B450M-A https://www.newegg.com/asus-prime-b450m-a/p/N82E16813119174?Item=9SIA85VAJ32602 AMD RYZEN 5 2600 6-Core 3.4 GHz https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-5-2600/p/N82E16819113496?Item=9SIA85V7BW5521 Team T-Force Delta RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 https://www.newegg.com/team-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820331039?Item=N82E16820331039 PowerColor RED DRAGON Radeon RX 580 DirectX 12 AXRX 580 8GBD5 (Though I may get this for me and give him the 1060Ti I'm using now) https://www.newegg.com/powercolor-radeon-rx-580-axrx-580-8gbd5-3dhdv2-oc/p/N82E16814131720?Item=N82E16814131720 Seagate BarraCuda ST2000DM008 2TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" https://www.newegg.com/seagate-barracuda-st2000dm008-2tb/p/N82E16822184773?Item=N82E16822184773 Silicon Power Ace A55 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) https://www.newegg.com/silicon-power-ace-a55-256gb/p/N82E16820301380?Item=N82E16820301380 Cooler Master Master Watt 650W Semi-Fanless Silencio Fan, Semi-Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply https://www.newegg.com/cooler-master-masterwatt-series-mpx-6501-amaab-us-650w/p/N82E16817171113 And then this is optional but instead of the stock cooler: Enermax Aquafusion 240 ELC-AQF240-SQA 240mm AIO CPU Cooler https://www.newegg.com/enermax-aquafusion-240-liquid-cooling-system/p/N82E16835214099?Description=240mm AIO&cm_re=240mm_AIO-_-35-214-099-_-Product Any better recommendations would be very welcomed. 4. Hey guys! I'm looking to start building a PC for the first time and this my budget for the entire build is around 1100$-1200$. What I'm looking for is a smooth 1080p 144hz experience and still be able to run most games ( GTA V, RDR2 etc ) at a decent if not high setting. Let me know down below if I could cut down the price in some areas to improve in other. The one main issue with this is I'm not sure what parts are compatible (or can be fully used) by other parts. Thanks! PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor $169.50 @ shopRBC Motherboard ASRock B450M PRO4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $69.50 @ Vuugo Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $99.99 @ Amazon Canada Storage Western Digital Blue 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive $79.99 @ Canada Computers Video Card MSI GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB VENTUS XS OC Video Card $274.50 @ Vuugo Case Cougar MX330 ATX Mid Tower Case $64.05 @ Vuugo Power Supply Corsair CXM (2015) 450 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply $69.50 @ Vuugo Monitor AOC C24G1 24.0" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor $197.25 @ Amazon Canada Keyboard Razer Cynosa Chroma Wired Gaming Keyboard $54.99 @ Amazon Canada Mouse Razer DeathAdder Elite Wired Optical Mouse $49.99 @ Best Buy Canada Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $1174.26 Mail-in rebates -$45.00 Total $1129.26 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-02-22 12:27 EST-0500 Also: I would like to have the capability to add another monitor or maybe overclock the cpu/GPU. Edit: this build is in CAD$ and that's what my budget is in
  5. After a while of looking over reviews and trying to make everything compatible, I've come up with a build that I think will serve me well: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU Intel Core i5-9600KF 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor $207.99 @ B&H CPU Cooler MSI CORE FROZR L 71.27 CFM CPU Cooler $54.99 @ Amazon Motherboard MSI Z390-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $125.79 @ Amazon Memory G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $89.99 @ Amazon Storage Western Digital Green 120 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive $54.98 @ Amazon Storage Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $44.99 @ Adorama Video Card MSI GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB GAMING Video Card $329.99 @ Newegg Power Supply SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $97.45 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $1026.17 Mail-in rebates -$20.00 Total $1006.17 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-02-19 19:04 EST-0500 I have also been taking a look at this case for the build (found off of a video, looked good): https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterBox-Ventilation-Tempered/dp/B07PJ18S78?tag=gamersnexus01-20 I am still in need of a good keyboard, mouse, and monitor to finish this build off. Already have a brand new windows10 home key too. I don't need any fancy 144hz monitors, as long as it works well (i would like to have a 2 monitor setup if possible), i'll buy it. Basically, all i'm asking is for suggestions on what to buy, if there are any compatibility issues, or if there are some cheaper alternatives / better buys to what I already have. Any feedback is appreciated (Also, the computer will not really be used for gaming. More of a work computer, however a friend recommended the RTX 2060 so I just added it to the list. Feel free to change it!)
  6. Guys! I am having a hard time editing 4K with Premiere Pro even with proxies. Color correcting and grading is almost impossible. Unsharp mask and denoise are a nightmare. Impossible. Timeline editing in 4K overall is a nightmare. Too much lag. I want to upgrade but I don't know where to start. Should I upgrade my CPU/Mobo first and keep the GPU? (Because I am on low budget) Or I have to change GPU necessarily as well? For example. How would work an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or Ryzen 5 3600 with my old R9 270? Can I pair that and improve my 4K editing? Approximate purchase date is this month or next. Budget is 300-500 USD. I don't need to buy monitors (have two 1080p units) nor case. My preference is AMD. My PC specs right now: ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AMD FX-8350 Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x8GB) 1600 MHz Corsair Cooler H100i Samsung 850 EVO 250GB for OS WD Blue 1 TB WD10EZEX for projects and storage Sapphire Radeon R9 270 2GB Dual-X Corsair PSU AX 760W Windows 10 Pro 64 Give me a hand please! Thanks!
  7. Hi all, I'm right in the midst of planning my first PC build, and I've finally got a preliminary parts list together. Budget is $2000 CAD, give or take a few hundred, including a new monitor. Any and all criticism is totally welcome, and nothing is set in stone right now. PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9bMzhg CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($399.00 @ Canada Computers) Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard ($149.99 @ Canada Computers) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($99.99 @ Amazon Canada) Storage: Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($89.99 @ Amazon Canada) Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($64.99 @ Canada Computers) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB WINDFORCE OC 3X Video Card ($639.00 @ Canada Computers) Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case ($99.99 @ Canada Computers) Power Supply: Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($119.99 @ Canada Computers) Monitor: Samsung LC27JG52QQNXZA 27.0" 2560x1440 144 Hz Monitor ($469.99 @ Amazon Canada) Total: $2132.93 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-02-13 23:35 EST-0500 There's no CPU cooler because I'm just planning to use the AMD Wraith one that comes with the 3700X. I'm not overclocking, so it should be fine, but if temps are too high I'll just grab another one. Also, I have absolutely no experience with power supplies, so any recommendations in that department are completely welcome. Thanks!
  8. I want to Build a Full setup including the monitor, pheripherals and of course the computer under 700$ Or ₹50,000 rupees (ISD) but you can push it to 800$ Or ₹57,000 rupees (ISD) because I can get parts really cheap at my local retailer. The build themed All White but it’s ok if some parts are not white, I can spray paint them. My location is India so some parts might not be available to me. Preferred case would be NZXT H500 or Corsair H200 (cuz I’m a minimalist). The Purpose would be gaming and slight programming (I’m new to programming so ye). Thank you if you have posted recommendations!
  9. I posted this in the Test Posts, waited over 24 hours, no response. Kinda just thought mods would look through them and approve the topics as they saw fit, didn't know if I had to request a review of it or not. If this post gets deleted as soon as I post it, I'll know. The ShadowBox is an ambitious project that aims to bring the portability of a console, without sacrificing the power and customization of a desktop PC. I am a long time PC and console gamer who has always wanted to build a PC inside a console case. But like Linus said in his Xbox sleeper video, the issue that is often run into is that every other build have either modified their case, sacrificed performance, or had to Jerry-rig their components to fit inside their case... But what if you didn't have to do any of that? What if there was a PC case, that felt like a console, but could hold all the gaming power you could ever want? 4k 144 fps games, without the hassle of having to make choices of less powerful hardware. Well that's where my case concept comes in, right now it's only just a thought, an idea if you will. I want to build a PC case, that can have a custom water-loop built in it, while still being able to house dual GPUs. But, is also small enough to be as portable as a console. I'm also thinking about adding a custom carrying case with foam to protect it from point A to point B and back again. There are currently 3 designs the "Retro" ShadowBox" aka the original design. A white variant of the original design. And a see-through version of the case called "Code-name:Bonez" which would allow people to show off their custom water-loop and their glorious RGB components. I am not here to beg for money, I am merely asking for constructive input and any ideas that would improve the design of the case itself. I'd prefer constructive criticism but if you hate the design I won't be too disheartened. Everyone has their own opinion.
  10. I just want to see some other pc's you guys have built to get some ideas for my own build.

  12. Hey guys, I own a Brix Pro for 2.5 years and I love it, they are powerfull, compact, power efficient BUTTTTTTTT, this thing is noisy, like a jet turbine and thermal throttles like there's no tomorow, I get like only 30%-50% of the max CPU and GPU performance, thanks to this guy: We're talking about a centrifugal cpu fan (the only fan used in the brix), thousands of RPM, almost 60dB of noise, and as little as 15CFM of airflow... Sooooo, as I'm sick of it for like 6 months now (I was a bit patient - and had no money laying arround), I decided to design myself a acrylic case, and stuff a 80mm fan inside (as I live in Brazil and my options are limited, my best options seems to be the Akasa AK-FN069, which make less than half the noise, and more than double the CFM. The plans are bellow and I want to know if you guys have anything to add. Thanks. Btw, I want to fix the hole thing with external screws for a more industrial look, like this: case.cdr Ps.: Sorry for the bad english!
  13. Help! No that I am done with my friends PC building I need an upgrade. I have a very old computer that I hate to admit but it was a prebuilt but I have not had the budget to improve so I was thinking to get a new one for around 1k but I realized that I don't need to heavy of a load so I could just upgrade. At the moment I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M81 (https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-thinkcentre-m81/) what would you change to improve so I can play stuff like overwatch and dauntless at like 40+ fps. Edit:for under 300 $ can. Also possibly able to run vr (def not needed)
  14. My Friend Wants to join the PCMR (wooo). She has a really quite crappy pc currently, that can barely run Minecraft. My Friend, and I built up a list for our friend as an options for her PC build. She wants to get into other games such as GTA 5, CSGO (can run on a toaster), Rainbow Six Siege, and Escape from Tarkv. Her Budget is around 500-600 Dollars. We would like your guy's opinion on this build, and what we should alter. Thanks in advanced. 15. I'm about to start building a new pc for gaming and general other tasks. I have a $2000 aud budget and need to include peripherals in that. So far my build is: Ryzen 5 2600 MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR4 3000 Samsung 860 Evo 500GB Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD Gigabyte Geforce 1660 Super NZXT S340 Elite Asus VG279Q Logitech G Pro Keyboard Logitech G502 Hero Can anyone recommend a power supply for me? Originally I was going to get a Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550W but have heard mixed reviews. I have about $150 AUD to spend on a power supply, any help would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Hello Guys, I am planning to build a Small Form Factor PC, with the config below, but I am not finding a SFF case to go with it. I was wanting something like the Dan A4-SFX, but it is a very expensive case here in Germany. So I am looking for a case like the Dan A4, I was thinking the Cougar QBX but in size comparison, the QBX is much lager. If you have any tips or ideias please share with me, I will be happy to hear. 17. My cousin asked for help building a PC for editing, he is a photographer. While I have built my computer and helped my brother build his, ours are mainly for gaming and I am unsure of what to prioritize or if it even needs a GPU. So i would greatly appreciate any help. 1.Budget & Location His budget is $600 he lives in the USA. 2. Aim He uses programs such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, and he would also do some occasional video editing. He would not mind if it can be used for gaming but its not the priority. 3. Monitors & Peripherals He already has a monitor, mouse and keyboard. He would need to buy OS. 5. Why are you upgrading? He mainly uses a Macbook Pro but has been having some trouble with it lately. He knows $600 is not much but he wants a good foundation to upgrade the PC later on.
  18. So I currently have two Acer H236HLbid 60Hz 23.0", and am looking to upgrade since they're my weakest link. I play both a lot of FPS and story driven games, so I'm looking for 144hz, 1ms response time, and ...I don't know a lot about Freesync vs GSync. 19. Hi! I am discussing with my boss about updating my workstation. Normally he will buy a Thinkstation Desktop from his computer guy. I suggested maybe building our own to see if we would save money. We run Revit Architecture in our office, and Enscape as our rendering software. Revit runs on CPU, Enscape uses GPU. I based my initial planning on what Lenovo offers on their website for the Thinkstation P520, with 2 upgrades to 32gb RAM, Quadro P4000. 22. ...Well, OK, I'm not that bad. But I know when to ask for help from experts. My old PC, which has served me well for nearly 8 years (admittedly it's chugging rather badly nowadays) is on the way out - running MemTest86 reveals that someone has replaced my RAM with slices of Swiss cheese. It seems an appropriate time to get an upgrade. I am a fairly hardcore gamer, who has just finished an undergraduate degree in games-related programming, and is currently doing a master's in AI. Oh, and I occasionally do 3D modelling in Blender. As such, I hit rather a lot of high-performance tick-boxes, and I recognise I'll probably want a fairly high budget. On the one hand, this will be a professional tool and it would be deeply short-sighted to underspec, but on the other I'm only working part-time and I don't have vast sums of disposable income to throw around. Budget & Location: ~£2000, UK Use Cases & Requirements: Gaming. I tend towards lower-performance titles - thus my failing to upgrade in 8 years - but I'd still like to be able to play the occasional blockbuster at high-ish settings. I'd ideally like to be able to power a 4K monitor at 120fps, but I have no idea if that's plausible given the budget, and I strongly suspect that I'll have to settle for something less bleeding-edge. Ray-tracing would be a strong plus. Games Development & Programming. This is largely a subset of the above, but I need a CPU with serious horsepower. Again, ray-tracing would be a strong plus, for professional reasons perhaps more than personal. ANN Training. Training neural networks is likely to be a common use-case, serious GPU horsepower needed in that department. I have no idea what mix of teams red, green, and blue is optimal for this. Modelling and Rendering: Secondary importance, but still a somewhat common use case. 32GB RAM, the good stuff: Someone's probably going to tell me, with perfectly good reasons, that I don't need this. But the established wisdom was that I only needed 8GB eight years ago, not 16GB, and I've long been thankful that I ignored that advice. I also wish I'd spent more on quality, given that it's been the first component to fail in my current build. I'm determined to be generous with my expenditure on RAM: speed, quantity, and quality. Good 'n' Sturdy: I'm moving house several times a year atm, as part of the student lifestyle. I value sturdiness and portability much more than pretty tempered-glass side panels or marginally-worthwhile water-cooling. It doesn't need to be mini-ATX or anything, but I need to be able to lift it and pack it in the car without worrying about damage. All drives in RAID1: I have no immediate need for additional HDDs, as my current WD Black 6TB is quite recent and can be moved across, but I would like an SSD boot drive. However, unless there's a strong reason not to, I'd like to upgrade to having RAID1 across all data on my machine, and advice on how best to accomplish this would be invaluable. Screen: As mentioned previously, I'd like to upgrade my experience to a good resolution at 120fps, preferably with G-sync/free-sync. Good colour accuracy a strong bonus. A single, primary screen does need to be included in the budget, I already have a very modern IPS screen for use as secondary monitor. Windows Operating System: I've done the Linux thing before, and didn't enjoy it. No Other Peripherals: Aside from a single screen, matched to to the system's gaming performance, I'm good on peripherals. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  25. When buying used PC parts, what should I look for when inspecting the hardware and software? What kind of questions should I ask the seller? For my scenario: I found a few Craiglist ads for a 1080 GPU, M.2 NVME SSD, DDR4 3200 RAM, and an Intel Optane SSD. The seller provided some screenshots of TechPowerUp GPU-Z, CrystalDiskInfo, and Thaiphoon Burner results. The seller will meet at a grocery store, so testing each PC part beforehand does not seem like an option. I've never built a computer before, but I have done a ton of YouTube watching in the past month. I'm looking to build my first PC and hoping you lovely folks could enlighten me.
