Hello audio folks, I thought I would ask you guys for a bit of advice. I tried to find some music forum to ask at, but I couldn't find any looking half-decent and not with utter trash-looking UI but, anyhow I'm sure some of you guys here are musicians or particularly pianists and could help me out a bit. And this is already established forum where I asked a couple of times sooo, you know. To the point, I've been fascinated by the piano as an instrument for quite a while now. And idk but I always felt kinda drawn to it, but never got the actual guts to actually try it out and learn it. But finally, I decided to buy a piano instrument and try to learn it. But, of course, I can't really buy an acoustic piano as I neither have space nor money to buy for ex. baby grand or upright, even many pianists don't have that at home. So, I am thinking about buying a keyboard or a MIDI controller. I know what a MIDI controller entails, and I think I would be quite comfortable with using DAW or virtual instrument and little setting up. A more pressing issue is the 61/88 keys dilemma. I know I probably won't touch the additional keys for quite a while in the process of learning, but I love watching piano arrangements of songs and like classical music as well. From what I noticed quite a lot of these songs use the additional keys, and I would like to play these songs eventually in the future, so I don't really want to be limited by that. I am kinda freak in price/performance, maximizer per se - spreadsheets on spreadsheets. My budget is around 250€ - I don't really wanna spend too much, as I might lose interest in a year or smh so even if that happened it wouldn't hurt that much. From what I looked at this keyboard: Yamaha PSR E373, looks quite promising, it was mentioned in a lot of beginner videos about keyboards and it's said to be beginner-friendly, so yay. But it only has those 61 keys, so idk. As for that MIDI controller I find this one: M-Audio Keystation 88 MK3, it has a really good price for a controller with 88 keys (same as a 61-key Yamaha keyboard) seemingly dynamic keys and it even has MIDI out + USB MIDI which is a plus. But I don't know much about audio tech in general, so there might be some hidden con that I can't see. If you know which is better - is it a keyboard? is it a MIDI controller? Then let me know! Also, if you know a better bank for a buck and it is in my budget and it is seemingly better than my choice, feel free to advise me. Furthermore, should I really worry about that 61/88 keys aspect or my inner overthinker, maximizer is coming out and should I just buy the first one I see? Maybe this is a wrong section (or even a wrong forum lol) to post this on (mods move please, if necessary), but I wanted to ask from your personal experience, which midi-controller or synth on a budget ($500-700 or less) would be fine to learn keyboards on? I have some practice in this area, but it was long time ago. However, I can definitely say that what I'm looking for: Decent build quality (keys themselves & case doesn't really matters). Keys dynamics is a must, of course. No need in 88-keys (takes too much space), 37 is fine, but is an absolute minimum. No real need in 'sounds', 'patterns' and 'effects', as well as in metronome or some 'learning stuff'; having a good grand piano or classic piano sound would be great and enough. No need in built-in speakers. I've seen some reviews and 'guides' on this topic online, but things listen in them are not available in local music stores, so I can't try them out before buying. As for now, yamaha reface cp fits perfectly under my criteria, but it looks a bit pricy for what it does (I might be wrong though). Thanks a lot.

i am trying to record my piano to my focusright interface with my laptop. so i plug my digital piano p-90 to the focuseright interface 2i2 2nd generation.. with a instrument cable. i also have my headphones plugged into the interface so i cvan hear the sound of the piano. i can hear the piano but i hear alot of static...does anybody know how to remove the static and just have a clean sound? i tried it with my guitar and it worked perfectly with a clean sound vlume turned all the way up... its just the piano. any tips? SOLVED: never mind i solved it.. just had to play around with some settings of piano and interface

Hello, I want to connect my digital piano to both my computer and phone. The piano has one USB 2.0 type B port. I understand that I cannot use the piano on both my computer and phone at the same time. I don't want to switch cables every time I want to use my other device so will the device from the link do the job? And will there be any additional latency (important for MIDI devices to have as less as possible). Hello community I dont know whether the ltt forum is the right place to ask this question. I would like to just record my piano on the computer so that I can separately add voice or edit notes. My piano is a Yamaha YDP-142. I am aware that I can connect the piano though the mic jack but I'd like to have a digital signal that I can edit later, so a usb connection would be better. I've tried some programs but none of them really did what I wanted (maybe because I couldnt use them properly). Can anyone please help?

Hello guys, I was wondering if you could help me setup my usb monitor and my digital piano to my computer. the problem is, the monitor & piano are 10 meters away from my pc. I heard that there is a maximum of 5 meters of length for everything to work. This might not exactly in the realms of linustechtips but me and my friend needs some help; so my friend is starting to upload him playing piano on YouTube and wants to go all way up to professional. He has good piano skills but has no recording knowledge so he needs some suggestions. What he has an Upright piano, ipad 4 and an old crappy smart phone, a pc but is not placed anywhere near his piano. He has no laptop, no camera, no microphone (except some karaoke ones), and no soundboard. His budget is around $600 right now, and he might have more in the future. On what should he invest first to yield a decent upload video?

I have a Yamaha Keyboard piano connected with a USB-B to USB-A cable to my PC. I only know to use synthesia but the delay and sounds quality sucks. are there any other software to do that?

So I have a digital piano upstairs and my pc downstairs (the piano cannot be moved and neither the pc). The piano has a 6.35mm audio output. I thought of buying a 20m audio cable to go direct to my pc as I won't be recording too often but are there any other solutions you can think of (cheap)? I also have a blue snowball mic but that will introduce key pressing sound as well. Thanks,

Hi Guys! I'm looking for a keyboard, not the PC keyboards, but those piano/synthesizer things. I'm no expert when it comes to these so I'll gladly hear out your opinions. It'll be a gift to someone who actually plays one. I want to hear some pros and cons here. It'll mostly be used for playing songs with those synthesizer sounds (IDK what I'm talking about :lol:) Any suggestions about the best bang for the buck around $1000 would be gladly appreciated. I hear Yamaha is better with the keys but I'd like to hear some more here. Thanks in advance

There are several pieces of software like this I have read about: Intelliscore http://www.intelliscore.net/ But I was wondering if anyone had recommendations with software they've used. I like the idea of being able to turn an mp3 into midi to get the score with their ensemble edition... but the main thing I want to use it for is composing on the guitar and piano without having to write it out. It would also be useful because I have the forscore ipad app for storing and reading PDFs of scores, but for sheet music that I downloaded that were scanned are very hard to read, I'd like to play the piece, have it transcribed, save them as a PDF and then load the clean fresh version into forscore, and doing the same with pieces in books, to avoid scanning them. I've been thinking of getting a snowball usb mic if I do find software that does what I'm hoping to do. Any ideas?
