So for a while, I was struggling to get my Odyssey G7 to look good with HDR enabled. Games looked extremely desaturated and washed out. Almost a year later I finally discovered what was going on the whole time. Here's an explanation: On SDR, the Odyssey G7 defaults to 50 50 50 for RGB color balance. This is the correct setting and setting to 100 100 100 looks very oversaturated. However, on HDR, you have to set the colors to 100 100 100. When switching back and forth from HDR, the color balance will then automatically adjust to 50 50 50 or 100 100 100 depending what mode you're in. Some games now look mind-blowing (such as Horizon Zero Dawn), while others with mediocre implementation look actually acceptable instead of a gray mess. Not sure if this is fixed on newer monitors or firmware but just thought I'd leave this here in case anyone was struggling like me.

You certainly know there was a flickering issue with the G-sync before the 1009.3 firmware. Well there's another problem : Scanlines (horizontal lines that appear on the entire screen) issue. People like me have this kind of problem : 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2Z_eDIdvYw 2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyPKLKySgng 3) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIwvcO8ltGI 4) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGVDJoZONmM + I might think it's a firmware problem because when I replaced this monitor (dead/stuck pixel) with a new one that I'm currently using, both have "Scanlines" issue. Sometimes it disappear when you change in "Black Equalizer" settings. US community or European community get ignored by Samsung. https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Monitors-and-Memory/How-much-longer-is-Samsung-going-to-ignore-the-scanline-issues/td-p/1633088 https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Monitors-and-Memory/Samsung-needs-to-acknowledge-and-fix-thee-scanline-issues-on/td-p/1620391 https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/jxxc8e/psa_all_samsung_odyssey_g7_units_are_defective/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/j2chjp/samsung_odyssey_g7_screen_issue_not_sync_related/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/jnqzn1/samsung_g7_32_scanlinespixel_inversion/ As you can see, I'm not the only one to have this problem. If you have an Odyssey G7 32", can you try this for me and tell me if you have also this issue ? Must be connected on Displayport 1.4 (240 Hz) with a NVIDIA graphics card + Black Equalizer set on 13 (the default value that engineers are not scared to put this unlucky number...) / or simply put to default settings (+ Night light off on Windows) : 1) You can reproduce "Scanlines" issue on these following sites (on a browser like GOOGLE CHROME/ MICROSOFT EDGE and MAXIMIZE the window) : a) https://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/attachments/whatsapp-image-2020-10-15-at-22-43-50-1-jpg.567680/ b) https://ksr-ugc.imgix.net/assets/029/605/180/2c8ef349a4e074a44e2b472a811a403d_original.gif?ixlib=rb-2.1.0&w=680&fit=max&v=1593159119&auto=format&gif-q=50&q=92&s=0d153a1f5b7af1a570f2128d92a0a508 c) http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/inversion.php d) https://rog.asus.com/wallpapers ( e) Open application NVIDIA Geforce Experience (maximize window) in "Home" tab ) Thank you for reading my problem

So I've been using my Odyssey G7 for a while now and I just accepted the fact that this display would flash black when alt-tabbing out of a fullscreen app. However, I switched to 8bit color and this stopped happening. Why does 10bit cause the display to disconnect/reconnect when alt-tabbing?? Also, HDR/local dimming/dynamic brightness is all disabled and I tried multiple combinations of gsync on for fullscreen & windowed or just windowed, etc. The only thing that fixes this issue is switching to 8bit color. Is there a difference between 10bit and 8bit if I'm not using HDR? Because so far I don't see anything.

Hi I recently bought this monitor and I did some research on it before buying obviously, I read that flickering was a big problem but that it could be fixed with the latest firmware update from samsung. I've now noticed that the monitor instead of flickering gives me some weird random black lines every so often. Its a bit hard to explain but ive found this video on youtube that shows the problem. Sadly I cant return it since its been over 14 days since I bought it. Does anyone know why the monitor does this? It happens really often and is so annoying to look at, I did not expect this from samsung. Things I've tried - using a different display port cable, enable/disable gsync and updating the firmware.

My issue is a little weird. My main monitor is a Samsung Odessey G7 32' Issue: Monitor restarts every time I exit a fullscreen game I have searched for this issue online but they are a bit different from this, or maybe I just missed in among the THOUSANDS of other gsync issues. I have a multiple display setup, and I have G-sync turned ON on my main monitor, and whenever I exit or alt-tab from a fullscreen game for 5-6 sec my monitor restarts for no reason (I am guessing g-sync is either disrupting the signal or sending some shutdown signal). This happens once and then everything goes back to normal, or so I would like to say. Due to this all the windows that were on different monitors get switched to single one and then I have to put every single one of them back to their places. I am pretty sure that G-sync is the cause as turning it off brings everything back to normal. All of my drivers are upto date, this is not a port or cable issue, and I cannot put valorant on windowed as G-sync actually is useful with all that tearing.

Hello, I was hoping to get a recommendation. I want to buy a 2K monitor so I have searched for options and decided on two options. Samsung Odyssey G7 is about 100 dollars more expensive than the LG GL850-B and I was wondering which one is better when you consider pay/performance ratio? And If you have Samsung Odyssey G7 does 1000R display disturb you?

Hello there. Just wanted to get the forum's opinions on this matter, so I can take some insight and decide between these two options (I'm really torn, not actually looking for validation on one over the other). I'm not really looking for any other suggestions, but if I'm dumb and there's an objectively better one that isn't much more expensive (I'm already stretching the budget here), please share. I am currently on a 1080Ti, but plan on upgrading to a 3080 when there's plenty of stock/ people get buyer's remorse and I can get one used. It can be your personal preference or your opinion on what I should get, with the considerations below: [Samsung Odyssey G7] - Resolution: 1440p - Refresh Rate: 240hz - Panel Size: 32in - VESA HDR Certification: HDR600 Caveats: Has a 1000R curve, is smaller. [Philips 436M6VBPAB] - Resolution: 4K - Refresh Rate: 60hz - Panel Size: 43in - VESA HDR Certification: HDR1000 Caveats: I've seen it has atrocious Local Dimming; don't know how distracting it would be in fast paced content. My usage is 70% media consumption (I am THAT guy that only buys the 4K HDR Blu-ray or downloads the 80GB movie), 30% gaming (Anno 1800, Civ5/6 and sightseeing games. Not a competitive FPS player, though I do play some). I also do occasional photo editing, but mostly as a hobby. Thanks in advance.

So I just received my Samsung Odyssey G7 32 from Newegg, grabbed it up since they were having a nice sell. I updated the firmware because I experienced some flickering in a video game and noticed it was on the really old 1004 firmware to the 1009.3 firmware. After this I am seemingly noticing a sudden dullness in the colors compared to how much the monitor popped before hand. I am not sure if this is just a trick of the eyes or if I am actually noticing some kind of issue here. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced the same issues?

I have a Samsung Odyssey G7 monitor and an AMD RX 5700XT GPU. I initially thought I had a defective panel when I saw that the grays look weird when in 240hz mode, but after changing my second monitor from 8bpc to 6bpc, I found out that 6bpc looks horrible .In AMD settings, when I try to change the monitor from 6bpc to 8bpc or 10bpc, it just reverts back to 6bpc. I am using the monitor with its included cable. I don't know if DSC is enabled or not, I don't even know if it's a toggleable option. Is there any way to fix this?

So, I have an Odyssey g7 1440p 240hz HDR600. My notebook is made by TongFang and rebranded by a local seller (Avell - model C65 MOB). Its specs are GTX 3070 + I7-11800H + 64Gb Ram (as seen on a print I've submitted with the post). The problem I'm facing is that I just cannot activate G-Sync through it's HDMI 2.1 out, nor use it with more then 144hz. The best I can do, apparently, is1440p 144Hz and HDR enabled, but not g-sync, nor greater fps. Searching online I couldn't find any help on enabling it, neither through monitor firmware updates nor through messing with its OSD configs. I think I may solve all problems with an HDMI to DP active adapter, but also couldn't find any that run with a DP version greater then 1.2, and to my knowledge, it lacks the bandwich to run all the specs I'd like to. My last resort is looking for some help from you guys from ltt forums. May the tech wizards bestow their knowledge upon this lost soul. lol I'm sorry for any misspelling, English is not my mother language and I'm a bit rusty at it

Hi there, have had my new PC for a couple months now and I've been having temperature issues with my graphics card while outside of gaming. I have a Palit RTX 3080 and a Samsung Odyssey G7. Both are brand new and connected via DisplayPort. The refresh rate is set at 240Hz and I have enabled G-Sync via the monitor. While browsing sites and applications like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Spotify and the Steam Store, pretty much where there's a lot of multimedia on screen, I've noticed a pretty radical jump in the temperature of my GPU. Even right now it's idling just below 50 degrees C and all I have open is one tab through Edge. I very rarely have more than one tab open at a time. Most of the time though it'll reach the high 50s or even low 60s, which then causes the GPU fans to spin up. In-game it seems fine and performance doesn't seem to be an issue, it's just when doing anything else, mostly just casual browsing, where I seem to have this issue. For a while I had the GPU and monitor connected via HDMI at a refresh rate at 144Hz which was slightly cooler but I still had this problem of pretty radical temperature jumps, and at least once the GPU fans kicked in. My other components seem fine and my CPU hovers around the 40s at the best of times. I've yet to set a fan curve for the GPU fans themselves and my CPU cooler fans. I have a fan curve set on my case fans through FanControl by rem0o (the default BIOS curve is 60% and pretty aggressive) and are connected to both my CPU and GPU temps. My case fans are 3 140mm stock CoolerMaster fans though which came with the case. I've set them to run based on the GPU temp at 40% between 20 - 50 degrees C on the GPU, 40 - 60% between 50 - 70 degrees C and 60% at anything above 70 degrees C. They're also set to run based on the CPU temp at 40% between 20 - 60 degrees C, 40 - 90% between 60 - 90 degrees C and at 90% at anything above 90 degrees C. However, the GPU is almost always warmer than the CPU and a very audible increase in fan noise. I'm not sure if I have my fan curve set too low but already the fans are fairly loud and have considered replacing them with Corsair ones. I live in a pretty cold climate and my desk sits against my window. Even with it open and while it was pretty chilly, I'm still experiencing this odd temp increase. My GPU drivers are up to date and have updated them a few times since. I've also tried undervolting my GPU through MSI Afterburner to a frequency of 1850Mhz and a voltage of 850mV which, when tested through Unigine Heaven on Ultra, resulted in slightly better performance with an average decrease of 5 degrees C. I've set it so that these settings are applied at start-up. However, it didn't fix my issues while not in game and I'm still experiencing the pretty wild temperature increases. I'm at a loss as to what to do next and think that there's maybe some kind of background process (or processes) going on that's causing my GPU to heat up like this but I have no clue as to how to check. Below are a list of my specs which I hope give an idea of the build as a whole: Case: CoolerMaster MasterBox TD500 Mesh Fans: 3x front 140mm stock fans, 1x rear 140mm fan Mobo: Asus Rog Strix B550-F Gaming CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU cooler: Corsair iCue H150i Elite RGB GPU: Palit GeForce RTX 3080 RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro (2 x 16GB) SSDs: 1x 500GB Samsung 980 Pro (Windows), 1x 2TB Samsung 980 Pro (other storage) Wireless network card: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 PSU: Corsair 1000W RMx Series Modular 80 Plus Gold OS: Windows 11 Monitor: Samsung Odyssey G7 27" (1440p, 240 Hz) Would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions you might have. I'm actually surprised that I'm having this issue as I didn't expect the GPU to heat up as much as it is while not running a game. I've also tried lowering the refresh rate to 144Hz and even 60Hz, but unfortunately I'm still having the same issue. Disabling G-Sync also doesn't seem to do anything, in fact it was originally disabled and I enabled it hoping that it would help. It did help with removing some screen tearing but not my temp issue. Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice that you might have and I'm more than happy to try out any suggestions or provide more information about my system. Thanks.

Like the title say's I'm just looking for a good reliable gaming monitor that shows accurate colors at 1440p 27" and something at 144 or 240hz. i built a new desktop with an rtx 3080 so i'm looking to upgrade my older monitor to match the graphics and get the most out of it. "which honestly any new monitor would probably be an upgrade over lol" i will add that I'm not entirely worried about cost. however i will add that I've placed the budget of 850 for myself. So far I've seen a lot of reviews mention three monitors however the two that caught my eyes so far was the Odyssey g7 and the Asus ROG Swift PG279QM 27". i'm open to any suggestions or opinion's for those who already have or has owned one of those two monitors. But Any advice or suggestions would be welcome and appreciated.

Hello there, I am looking for a new monitor. I have seen the review of the Odyssey g7, and it checks all the right boxes for me: HDR Adaptive sync 1440p decent colors curve Now the problem I am having is, that some people suggest this monitor is pretty much unusable for any creative work, as its curve introduces distortion. I am by no means a professional, but I like to take good pictures, do some astrophotography, and edit the occasional video in resolve. Should I keep away from the g7 as it's curve is so noticable? Or is it fine for someone who just uses it for this purpose from time to time? Are there any less curved options out there with the features I mentioned above? Thanks for your answers!

Hey guys! so im currently using an Acer XB271HU which is a 1440p IPS panel that's overclockable to 165 Hz. been using it for over 2 years already and have no issue whatsoever. I recently saw Linus' video on the Samsung Odyssey G7 and loved that it is a curved monitor with 1440p 240Hz refresh rate. I immediately had the urge to upgrade but then i thought to myself is it really worth upgrading from 144Hz to 240Hz and (potentially) downgrade from an IPS panel to a VA Panel (G7). i would have to sell my xb271hu and add around 300-400$ to buy the G7 What do you guys think? is it a worthy upgrade? or if not what is a sensible upgrade path for my monitor as 4k 120/144Hz is still way too overpriced right now. or should i just stick to my xb271hu thanks in advance for the responses

I'm trying to decide between two different monitors. lg 27gn950: https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27gn950-b-gaming-monitor 32" Odyssey G7 Gaming Monitor: https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/gaming/32--odyssey-g7-gaming-monitor-lc32g75tqsnxza/ I basically want an all in one monitor that has good image quality and fast refresh rates and response time for gaming. The LG monitor has a 4K resolution, hdr, and a 144hz refresh rate at a good price point too. The Samsung Odyssey has a 1440 100R curved screen with 240 hz refresh rate, so it is the superior choice for gaming. But I wondering how the curved screen would work for viewing content? I think higher resolution beats the refresh rate but the Odyssey has QLED so could it beat the 4K Nano IPS panel, but would the curve screen distort the image when viewing at a distance?
