  1. There is finally a GTA mod that's worth playing where the screen isn't warped looking because of vorpx. I also figured out how to increase the resolution (the tray tool doesn't work). EDIT: Most of the steps in this guide are no longer relevant since the last update to the mod. Just follow the steps Luke Ross gives in the link below. I'll leave my steps up just to keep the information up about how to mess around with the settings file. Might be useful to someone. Mod download link: https://github.com/LukeRoss00/gta5-real-mod Here are the steps I used to get it running smoothly and to increase the resolution a bit: Step 1: Start game, go to settings. Step 2: Under gamepad tab, change Targeting Mode to free aim. Step 3: Under Camera, set the Independent Camera Mode to OFF. Step 4: Under Camera, set First Person Vehicle Hood to OFF. Step 4: Under Camera, set First Person Third Person Cover to ON. Step 5: Save settings and shut down game. Step 6: Copy contents of zip file to GTA V steam folder. Step 7: Go to Documents, Rockstar Games, GTA V and make a backup of settings.xml Step 8: Copy the settings.xml file from D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\Settings\High to the GTA V folder in Documents and overwrite the file. Step 9: Open the settings file with Notepad, find the line that controls the refresh rate and set it to 90. Step 11: Save the file and open the game again. Step 12: Go to the in-game settings, change Vsync to off then save & exit the game again. Step 13: Open your Nvidia Control Panel, go to Manage 3d Settings, click on the drop down menu next to DSR and check all of the boxes. Leave the DSR smoothness at 33%. Step 14: In the settings file, set the resolution to 2560 x 1440 Step 15: Save the file and open the game again. Load the story mode and make sure that the frame rate is 90 fps with the Oculus Tray Tool. *You can increase the pixel density a little more by first unticking read only in the settings file again with the game open, going into the advanced settings in the game, and increasing the frame scaling mode. Set the file to read only again when you're done and make sure that the refresh rate didn't get set back to 60 again. If the game crashes whenever you open your desktop: .Go to documents\rockstar games\gta v .Right click the settings file, untick read only if you need to and click apply. .Open the file in notepad, change windowed value to 1. .Change PauseOnFocusLoss value to 0. .Save the file. .Right click it and change it to read only again. (You might also need to make sure your resolution setting in windows is bigger than the resolution the game is running at.) And that's it. I've been playing this all weekend and I hated all of the GTA V mods that came before this. It's finally playable so if you've tried older mods, don't dismiss this one.
  2. hi i have been thinking about joining the VR community. im not exactly sure what headset to go with iv been thinking either a HTC Vive, Oculus Rift or a Rift S but i dont know which would be best to go with any recommendations ? (i dont want to go with quest because its standalone) is the Rift S's tracking good compared to a rift or Vive ? (i live in Australia) Cheers

  4. I was hoping to buy the Oculus Rift S this up coming black Friday and wanted to know if my rig can hold up to vr or if anyone out there with similar specs can tell me how they run vr. I plan to play games like elite dangerous, HHH, Super Hot, Blade and Sorcery, and Beat Saber. Thank you for your time My specs are Cpu: i5 6500 Mobo: msi b150 gaming m3 Ram: 16 gb Corsair 2133MHz Gpu: GTX 1060 6gb
  5. o i have a laptop with 960m as its gpu, after i run the vr benchmark thing by steam it used intel hd one and it said my laptop wasn't vr ready but the average quality said it's very high and the fps under 90fps are 13 percent, should i buy a vr headset?

  7. Hi guys, I just bought a G920 set up with a cockpit (I havent identified it yet but the closest thing I found that it looks like is a GT Omega ART) that has a thrustmaster TH8A attached. Im trying to set up VR on assetto corsa but I need help as the title suggests. I've been researching for a while and im not sure if its because its 4AM and im sleep deprived or if everything out there on the topic is just spread so far and wide, but I cant seem to get a straight forward tutorial/walkthrough of how to set up the rift for AC, I found a few videos on youtube but they're a few years old and aren't applicable anymore (atleast with my setup/settings) for a bit more of a background I just got assetto corsa and this whole rig today so im super green in the simracing department. I guess i'd like to think im tech savvy enough to figure most things out but this ones stumping me/im too excited and impatient right now, to put the time in figuring it all out myself. Ideally someone that has experience using the oculus rift on assetto corsa in 2019 is who im looking for help from, but if you have any applicable experience in the topic your input is still viable. Genuinely any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys, im off to bed for now but will be straight back into this in the morning.
  8. I just got my oculus rift and I tried to set it up, plugged in all three usb cords and its all connected. But the Hdmi doesn't seem to be connecting, I tried wiggling it, unpluging both sides of it, and still doesn't work. The sounds are coming from the rift, the light in between the lends is white, but through the lends doesn't seem to show anything. I tried searching similar problems with the same laptop but I didn't quiet understand what im supposed to be doing. ive updated my nvidia graphics card, disabled windows defender, and checked for the latest windows update. I have an Acer Aspire VX 15 VX591G-54VG core i5, Geforce Gtx 1050Ti
  9. I've been building PCs for a long time. I consider myself very knowledgeable when it comes to problems and solutions. Until now.... I recently upgraded from a intel 6700k, MSI 3x Kait Z170, 16gb Adata 2400mhz platform to a Ryzen 2700x, x470 ASUS Strix-f, and the GSkill Trident Z 3200 Rgb. Pair up with my already Asus 1080ti Strix. System runs great. Zero crashes and or problems. Stable OC and XMP is running at its 3200mhz with zero issues. My 2700x and 470x mb is about 2weeks old. The GSkill is about 3 days old. The problem I'm having is when I hook up my Oculus Rift. I put on the headset then the jitters start. Only when looking through the headset. With I mirror the screen on the monitor the tracking is perfect and all the games FPS I can see is running it's butter smooth locked 90fps. Through the headset it's all over the place. When the new system was up and running with the old 2400 memory I had no problems in vr when I tried it. Now the problem is I didn't play much on the new build yet. I reformatted, no luck. I discounted all other usb but all my razers mouse pad, mouse and keyboard. Problem Continues. Now I don't think it's the memory. If that was the case I should see some other problem with some of the 30 games I benchmarked right after all the upgrades. Problem only continues in VR games. One form says it is a possible power supply issues. That it could be as I am sure I was pulling a little less power in my old setup. I still find that hard to believe because no problems what so ever doing anything else. All my games play just great. Now I can make it butter smooth again my flip flopping the nvidia drivers. Till I turn it off and want to play the next day. I done DDU. That works till PC goes off. My power supply is most likely the weakest component in my system. I am using a Corsair 750w bronze 80. It is also powering three 120 white led fans and three 140 white led fans, h100i AIO, two 3tb HD, one 480gb PNY SSD, 2 rgb strips and 1 rgb adjustable strip. So I know I am reaching the end of what this power supply can do. But it works perfectly changing the NVIDIA drivers back and forth. So I dont think its I power supply. If someone knows what this could be please let me know. I seem to know how to get it butter smooth. But its only a temporary fix. Thanks guys!
  10. This post is for listing games you've discovered that have hidden VR options and betas. Usually these are activated by adding -vr to the launch options for the game in steam or by activating a beta mode for VR. To get it started: .Euro Truck Simulator .American Truck Simulator
  11. I have 2 sensors on USB 3.0 and a third on 3.0 using an active USB 2.0 cable.. Would it be worth it to get an active USB 2.0 cable or just save my money?
  12. I have a 3 sensor setup (2 on usb 3 and 1 on usb 2 now), a wireless usb headset, wireless usb mouse, keyboard and the rift all on usb. It works but is it recommended to get a pcie usb card to clear some bandwith?
  13. Okay so, as the title says; I'm interested in seeing what everyone thinks of VR and where it is realistically going? Due to the fact I plan on buying a Vide next year (Or atleast, I'm thinking about it) I was talking to my friend on Teamspeak about it and it seems we're both worried it'll do what the original Kinect for the Xbox did. It'll be around for a while, it'll be in a few games but ultimately it'll die out due to either a lack of games or a lack of interest. Personally I'm scared that it'll die out in the future due to a lack of huge games which support it (I know there's a fair few, but I've not really seen any huge titles announcing support for VR) What do you all think? What do you realistically think is going to happen with VR? Will it take off, or will it be another failed technology?
  14. ASW was created to make it so you could use an Oculus Rift with a lower end card, but it also has another fun use. You can get much higher graphics settings with it on, but you need to use something to monitor FPS to make sure you're not dropping below 45 FPS and causing compositor frame drops. You can use the tray tool for that. There are HUD's for monitoring things. The performance hub shows FPS on the left, your performance headroom on the right and application/compositor frame drops up top. .First turn ASW on 45 FPS and then back to auto to make sure it's activated. .Enable the performance HUD. .Put on your VR headset and crank the settings in your game. .Walk around and keep your eye on the FPS. If it drops to 45 fps that's ASW kicking in.. if it drops below that, you need to lower some settings and try again. .After you're done with that, you need to keep refining it a bit more. Now, memorize the compositor frame drop number, walk around in game for about 10 minutes and if you don't have any compositor frame drops, you're good to go. If you have 1 or 2 and you're an experienced VR user, it may not even bother you so that's personal preference, but you don't want a lot of them. I get 1080ti level settings on my 1080 this way. I'm at about -10 to -20 performance headroom and I'm not getting a single drop or stutter. I don't recommend this for new users though as if you're still getting used to VR, it may make you sick. It apparently doesn't work as well on some cards as it does on others, but that's anecdotal so take that with a grain of salt. This combined with a GPU overclock, can make a very big difference. If you're getting drops no matter what you do, you likely have another problem going on that needs to be resolved like a botched driver update or a bad nvidia control panel setting. Note: Compositor frame drops that happen between loading screens and when you first put your rift on don't count. Only ones that happen while in the game walking around do.
  15. VR headsets for PC gaming are quite expensive, so I started looking for alternatives. Long story short; I planned on getting a cheap kit for my Android phone just to experience VR, then decided to maybe upgrade to a new phone for better resolution, pixel density, etc. So I looked at a P10 as it isn't super expensive. Then I got a tip about Google Daydream compatible phones for a better VR experience, so I started looking at the S8 with the Samsung Gear VR 2017 version. Basically, the price just went from a very affordable budget to becoming more expensive than the Oculus with touch controllers. So what I am wondering about is if the Oculus is going to be an enjoyable experience on a GTX 970 or not? Before I even started looking at alternatives to PC VR headsets, I just assumed that the experience would be quite bad on the GTX 970 considering that Nvidia lists it as the lowest VR ready card (as far as I know the GTX 960 isn't on the "VR Ready" list?). On the Oculus Rift website the GTX 970 is listed under the recommended PC specs as an "alternative" graphics card. All help is greatly appreciated!
  16. I'm quite interested in VR. But right now were kinda on the bleeding edge of stuff finally coming out properly for consumers... Do you think that there will be a Vive or Oculus Version 2.0 coming out anytime in the next two years or will the current models stick around for a while with software updates and tweaks with the occasional hardware ad-don being the focus? (Tooootally not related to me getting a VR capable pc towards the end of this year but not having the money yet to buy into VR )
  17. My Story: I recently started earning some money this opens up a lot of new perspectives for an otherwise rather poor student. I had tried the Oculus twice at Gamescom 2016 - both times in sitting position - and was utterly unimpressed with what I saw. This and the price were reasons why VR wasn't very interesting to me until recently. I saw a review of the Pimax 4K and tried and HTC Vive at a local store - this time in a standing position - and "oh boy!" that was so much better. I thought: The Pimax could be it, my perfect cheap entrance to VR. Luckily I even found one on ebay for 260€ from a guy who got a Vive for christmas so he never opened or let alone used his Pimax. I went ahead and bought it. It was and is still interesting but I keep running into limitations. It is either the missing appropriate tracking (Pimax only has 3 axis tracking) or some other technical quirks of the glasses I don't want to get into right here. In conclusion I got a first look at VR on the cheap. Currently I am trying to sell the Pimax again and considering either getting a Vive or a Rift but i am not sure. I also had another taste of the Oculus Rift - this time standing - and it didn't feel worse than the Vive though there were mutliple weeks between trying both (adda grain of salt here). Since I now have the cash but not the knowledge I need to make a conscious buying decision I came here to ask you some things and compile what i found out so far. There are some pros and cons and I don't feel like luke has said enough in his month old "final answer". Do you personally have experience with both or any of these and can help me with this? Please leave a suggestion! (Notes: I have -1 on each - myopic that is - on each eye so without glasses is usually fine but I'd prefere to fit them in there I'd generally prefere not to support Facebook since i do not agree with a lot of things they do. I might be able to completely overlook that though if someone comes up with the ultimate feature of the rift I forgot I also don't like the exclusivity since it locks people out of games in an already small industry rough measuring I have couch to desk 2 meters and wall to the middel of the room 2.5m-3 meters of space (3770k @4.6GHz and a GTX 1080 should be enough power) So far I know (open question are marked in bolt - Feel free to add some to these if I forgot about something): Oculus: Way cheaper at 499€ from amazon + 119€ for the Touch controllers for a total of 620€ Shorter, thinner cable smaller FoV looking through a porthole feeling. On first impression text can be read easily, more easily that with Vive (subjective feel) lighter headset Removable headphones but not advised since stock sound is pretty good though I Comes with an X-BOne Controller Touch controllers are more ergonomic and pick up gestures better Controllers take AA batteries not yet sure if that is a good or a bad thing (claimed 30 hour battery life) Cams are "only" 69€ which i consider an ok price lighter controllers 4m long headset cable. Seems just long enough for my purposes Needs 4 USB ports, 3 of which have to be 3.0 ... srsly? 2.5m Cable for the cams - more bad than good. I am also missing unoccupied USB Ports: Should i get an PCIe extension for some more? Seems to have a lot more (partly exclusive) games than Vive (help please) I have no idea how good or bad the tracking really is when used in room scale mode Comes with a Remote o_O wth is that for? What games does it come with? The 6 listed on the Oculus website? (here:https://www.oculus.com/rift/) Robo Recall is included with the Touch controllers It Seems harder to clean than the Vive- specifically the headset's pad. Is that correct? How has your experience with their store and software been so far? Vive: starts at 899€ Controllers have proprietary batteries which are at 960mAh not even that large bulky 5m tri-cable solution (There is a separat 3to1to3 cable solution which costs 45€ or is that included nowadays?) uses only one USB 2.0 port heavier headset Higher FoV but also more screen door effect, harder to read text. More immersed feel (my subjective feeling) no included headphones, headphone strap available soon Additional lighthouse sensor is 150€ Additional controllers can be purchased but are 145€ has the cat cam though I don't have any livestock in house that I could step on, lul comes with 5 meh games as far as I can tell. (Subjectively I consider job simulator-like only meh) comes with in ear headphones though I will probably not use them since I have DT880s or Hifiman Re400s On steam are considerably more games listed that support the Vive though that doesn't say anything about a singular game's quality heavier controllers Are the Vive trackers (coming soon) any interesting for a consumer like me? How has your experience with their store and software been so far? I will probably have to add points later on but this is what is on my mind for now. The dilema basically is that I liked the roomscale-ness of the Vive but don't actually have that much room and the Oculus is 270€ (maybe 200 with a third camera subtractred) cheaper than the Vive but I think contrary to to so many things Oculus and Facebook stand for in the industry AND to add insult to the injury the Touch controllers really are better than the Vive Controllers. HALP ME PLS!
  18. I'm really trying to decide, I've been wanting to develop VR games on Unreal Engine 4. I've already had a project going on and it seems really good, I just can't test it lol. I'd might use virtual desktop too and a few games. My budget is $550 ish. (USD) I'm leaning more towards the HTC Vive's tracking, but I'm hearing all these problems with it not working. I have a huge living room where my PC is so it would be great for room-scale VR. I've already got a few bids going to the HTC Vive on eBay from trusted sellers and whatnot, since I can only afford a used HTC Vive and WILL NOT spend more than $600 USD. The Oculus seems promising, but the 3rd sensor still needs to be connected to a USB port for room-scale support, which my girlfriend would not appreciate and would much rather have the Vive's lighthouses' cable's being tethered down the window frame to the wall outlet. (Jayztwocents style) I do like the Oculus controllers though, and the price. I'm mostly worried about some issues people have been having with the Vive being buggy and whatnot. Any suggestions? I need help! Thanks!
  19. I have an Oculus Rift and I Iecently bought Arizona Sunshine for 20€ (50% off in total) on sale. Performance seems good even on very high settings with an i7 3770k@4.6GHz and GTX 1080. I have huge issues starting the game. I seldomly play VR so I haven't played since Oculus reworked Home. Steam now seems to have a huge issue with starting steamVR which seems only related to the steam VR home because sometimes I got Arizona Sunshine to start without it running/ running errorlessly. The game sometimes crashes when reading completes and the level should render and I sometimes could not get it into the foreground. There are some recent reports about weird crashing in the steam forum for the game but that was not enough confirmation for me. What I am now debating is if I should move on and play something else or keep trying. I am still well inside the 14 day window and currently at 90 minutes playtime which should be more like 35 minutes should I refund or try to fix it? Is it worth it? Does this game have widespread issues? It is out for a fairly long time now so I assume not.
  20. Every time I see a VR discussion of if someone should buy an Oculus or Vive, I always see people claiming that the rift doesn't have roomscale. It's had roomscale for like 2 years. Ever since touch released. In fact, it's pretty much the same size playspace too. Around 12x12 feet with 3 sensors and about 14x14 with 4 maybe a bit more. That's not counting expanding the playspace to the point where the tracking gets bad of course for either one. They're pretty much the same. I don't get all of the Oculus versus Vive stuff. They're both awesome, but this one just makes me want to:
  21. I'm just curious to see if we could use a dedicated subforum for VR stuff. Hang me if you must.
  22. It's like someone showed up after 3 years of built-up anticipation and stole Oculus Rift's cake. From right under their noses. Everybody is talking about the Vive. Heck; my wife asked me how much it was after I showed her a demo video. That's is as much permission to burn 900 bucks as I'm ever likely to get! :-) It seems as though Oculus will release a motion controller later this year. Prices will probably be comparable. The videos I saw seem to show the Vive games to be simpler, more sandbox like than the Oculus. The Vive's games are not as deep but physical interaction is superb. 2 months ago I didn't even think I was going to get one of these for at least a couple of years. Today I was eye measuring my computer room. The logical thing to do is to get Iteration 2 of either device, whichever is successful. What do you folks think?
  23. Well 6 months later and my pre-order has finally arrived... Here's what I think (My system: i7 4970K @ 4Ghz GTX980 16GB DDR, SSD): Setup was easy - took me about 10 minutes First experience of immersion was amazing But it went down hill from there... I was expecting spare padding, alternative lenses and a cloth lens wipe, nope none of these. Plastic battery divider which you pull from the oculus rift remote was wedged and I had to slide the back off The screen and the screen door effect Well the resolution stats sound ok, but they are not. I've watched so many reviews and everyone says it's barely noticeable, I don't know what planet they are on or how poor their eye sight is but it's noticable, very noticable. Unless you have constant movement either by your head or the image being rendered to the screens it will be in your face, literally. A nice lattice grid over everything. I'm sure they are using a Galaxy S5 screen (still DK2?) or other low res samsung screen (Samsung screens tend to have more of a diamond lattice I've noticed). Screen resolution So, not happy with what I was seeing, I decided to run some tests myself. I cooked up a quick application with some 4K textures of lava and earth with normal maps etc, slapped them onto some spheres and confirmed very poor resolution, combined with interlace / alias effects which are present everywhere. There is no way you can get a decent / sharp image / texture at the resolution of these screens. If there was no screen door it would be acceptable. Lens Smudge / Blur Glow / God Rays I started noticing glows on text or bright objects on dark (not even completely black) backgrounds. So I jumped over to unity, cooked up a skybox of some space textures I had and stuck some 3D text in the view (white). Wow... I've not seen effects like that since the credits from Superman. Field of view It's like looking through a diving mask with more of your view blocked off. It really feels like I am looking through an diving mask / snorkeling mask, I forget about the screen door effect more than this. Tracking Works fine, I have noticed a lot content doesn't pick up on leaning left or right. And doesn't take into account when your looking behind you that left and right are reversed. I have also noticed all HUD are rotated slightly on my rift (probably need to re-calibrate that some how). I have a few stutters / jumps when looking directly back (HTC Vive wont have this issue). I didn't expect the sensor to be so big. It's taller than my yetti mic, good solid build however. Headset Good build, light, really needs to be able to adjust eye width more without screwing up the vision portal your looking through. I am at max width. I have also found that if I pull the rift off my face some hwere around 1 to 3 cm things can look much better, it removes some of the smudge effect also (thinking about sticking something to the padding to do this). There is also light let in from the nose area (issue on both vive and rift), I also had to turn light of which is directly above me in the room as I could detect it in headset. Headphones were ok, but it only took me 10 minutes before I removed them and used my own. Controller I'm no xbox fan or user but I'm sure the new xbox controller had modular components etc? This is just the same as my old £5 xbox pc controller just wireless. 360 Video Resolution is so low that I think VHS would be 4K compared to this. No, just no. 360 Photographs The supplied free images were cool but very low file size and quality. So found 60 panoramic high resolution images some as big as 20mega pixel. I didn't notice any quality improvement at all. You always get a feeling like your about 30ft off the floor, it scared the s**t out of my mother. So yes and no, light pictures with no bright and dark contrast worked well eg above the cloud line, egypt, rome, beaches etc. Virtual Desktop (steam app) Screen resolution makes things quite hard to read, usable but not practical at the moment. The application however has some nice features and some things that just don't work at all. Screen size (yes), screen distance (no - seen this just moving the screen a very small amount in a diagonal direction - guess the dev cant work out the normal from the camera normal and then add and offset the two). Tested youtube world of warcraft 360 video and the starwars one, both worked, let down by the resolution, no screen door or glows noticed. 360 image viewer views images differently to the Oculus home software also couldn't handle certain image (I think due to size) and threw an unknown parameter error but worked for the most part. I added 60, I could select all but couldn't delete all after grrr. Elite Dangerous God rays, poor text readability but still quite immersive. Can struggle and stutter if you don't lower your quality settings enough. Project Cars Complete rubbish, I played with the settings in game and in the SDK tool and never got anything I felt comfortable with. Environment flickering, render distances were poor and have to reset rift position each time the game starts. But I've come to expect this from these guys. So if you have a 980, i7 @4970k @4Ghz with 16GB DDR3, crank everything down to low, aliasing, bloom etc off and make sure you map easy to access controls / keys so you can change camera view and reset the head set position when needed. Shame there is no image quality or resolution quality on any VR at the moment as views in the distance are just a smeering of pixels and screen door. And the HUD, WTF they thinking. I'm sure some developer spent about 5 minutes whom couldn't give 1 f*** about the task... However there is another, "Assetto Corsa". Assetto Corsa Spent some time configuring this (much less than with project cars) but I found I could leave so much more on. The game has the same if not better graphics than project cars. So I broke out the ThrustMaster T500 wheel and pedals, got setup and nice, Very nice. Better sitting location, can lean and look around car. Can actually read the dials (unlike project cars). Dust and god rays on the windows. And crashing has me cringing in my seat. By far the best VR experience I've had yet, 2nd was the setup demo of the Dino and the Alien. You can't get passed the limitations of the resolution (detail pixel blur - which is in all tings) but I totally forgot about the screen door effect in Assetto Corsa. And having your arms and hands in the same position in the game as they are on the steering wheel is awesome. I crashed once and felt like I was still moving forward! Got me a bit weezy that did. Motion Sickness I've had a bad stomach for the past 2 days since the rift has arrived, is VR the cause? or was it the potato salad I ate? I've spent close to 6 hours each day in it so far and that's not counting development time. If I were to rate what I have talked about: 10/10 Build quality and comfort 10/10 Weight 8/10 Tracking 8/10 Lens gap adjustment 0/10 No adjustment for lens to eye distance adjustment 10/10 Having headphones and allowing them to be detached 0/10 Not blocking external light from nose and upper padding areas 0/10 Screen resolution and thus screen door effect 0/10 Lens smear/blur/glow 2/10 Diving Mask field of view 48 out of 100 (4.8/10) Issues in order of severity: 1. Screen resolution / ppi 2. Field of view 3. Lens blur/smear/glow Recommendation I will wait for Oculus Rift CV3, HTC Vive v3 and the GTX 1280ti/1380ti, maybe by then 2 way SLI would make it possible to have 1 graphics card to handle the graphics output for each eye which would help with not having hardware that can power the resolutions needed. Development tests I have carried out Best I can capture with my rubbish web cam but at least there are some previews. A quick demo I programmed up to demonstrate lens glare/smear/blur/glow effect. Another quick demo I programmed up to demonstrate 4K texture translation and minor aliasing issues but these aliasing issues are present in most things in VR at these screen resolutions. Another quick demo I programmed up to test some better textures I found, 8K and 4K textures, set to 4096x 16bit, created some normal textures for them, slapped on some spheres and rotated. About as good as it gets. Lots of lens glow from white text exampled. This is about as close as I can illustrate what you see when you put on the rift: an example of the view port, what you actually see and are expected to forget about. Black sides, room light from nose area, screen door and a little glow from white objects in the 3D scene bottom center. Conclusion At the moment, VR in my opinion is a FAIL. The resolution is a joke / insult, the lens blur/smear/glow for someone like me whom loves space games is a huge disappointment and the screen door effect just about tolerable. Not to mention your full field of view is not covered and puts you in a diving mask (good for a 1st person diving game I guess lol). Neither the Rift or the Vive should have been released with screens of this resolution / ppi. Should have been at least 1440p / 2k per an eye. The field of view needs to be at least 180 to 200 deg, and they should have worked out the lens blur/smudge/smear all before release.
  24. So I was just seeing twitter and came across Razer's CEO's poll ,that are people using their VR headsets ,and was suprised to see that people were not using them on a daily basis or even a once in a week.So i was just wondering is it becasue people dont think that they get immersed or is it the lack of content stopping them .And more importantly i was thinking that would people WANT vr heasets which do not to be tethered to your pc ,or stick with the current tethered systems BUT on the cost of lesser accuracy .What do you guys think ??Lemme know .
  25. After watching the video "You aren't ready for VR - SteamVR Performance Test" i had a video idea in whitch you run the htc vive or the oculus rift under the recommended specifications and tell how the experience was compared to the recommended specifications. I think it would be very interesting (sorry for my bad English im German XD)
