Unless you want to pay scalper prices it is impossible to get a 3080 right now . I feel like I have found a $200 solution. I bought a Nvidia Shield Pro. With the shield I can stream games from my PC to my 4k 65" Oled tv using Nvidia’s AI upscaling. It looks amazing! I set my resolution for my PC games to 1080p and they are upscaled to 4k at 60hz. I have done a side by side comparison and I can't tell the difference. Because my resolution is lower I can max out my graphics settings. With DLSS games the performance is even better. I am playing Cyber Punk 2077 in 4k, with graphics set to high, Ray-Traced set to Ultra and DLSS set to performance and I'm getting 60+ fps. All on a 2070 super paired with a 3900x. I understand it's not true 4K, but neither is DLSS and people love it and it's necessary with most Ray-Traced titles. I'd love to hear other peoples point of view. I don't see any reason to buy a 3xxx series GPU now. Am I wrong? If you plan on using DLSS you plan on upscaling. If you can't tell the difference why pay the extra money?

Hi, So I just bought a Sony A95k to replace my Samsung UN50RU7100F. Is there anything that would make the shield better for picture quality or audio versus just using the built in Google TV with the Sony? I only really stream from apps. No plex server or anything. If the Shield is better then I’d want to use it with the Sony since it’s going to be the main TV, but if there isn’t a difference then I’d prefer to use the Shield with my Samsung since its standard OS isn’t very good. Thanks for the advice!

Hello Guys, I recently acquired a NVIDIA Shield P2571 that have a micro sd card slot. I have seen reviews where it is compatible with the Samsung Class 10 512GB cards. I am inquiring if the "SanDisk 1TB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - 120MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card - SDSQUA4-1T00-GN6MA" from the Scandisk store or Newegg website will work in the Shield as well?

Anyone done comparisons or heard whether the new Nvidia Super Resolution is better, the same, or worse than the AI upscaling provided by the Nvidia Shield?

So I have this old Nvidia shield tablet, it's the first model that was recalled because they had battery problems, lolz. So I just kept it "att my own risk", cuss it wasn't actually anything wrong whit it. So, do anyone think its possible to use it as a PC screen whit or without touch functionality? It would be cool to have it moded on to my PC cabinet to monitor stuff and have slide shows or music videos playing on it.

I've been seeing an increasing number of NVIDIA-powered devices such as the Shield tablet and the media centre (like Linus with the Razer Blade, I'm a bit pissed by the lazy naming of these two distinct devices). I feel like that since mobile gaming is getting more and more succesful than console or PC gaming, this could threaten PC gaming. I'm particularly concerned because the service does not have Saints Row 2 in their game collections, unlike PS Now, which, although is compatible on PS4s that already have a high market share, most people are doing things on either Android or iOS these days, which NVIDIA could easily take advantage of compared to Sony (people hate their devices for bloatware and they don't have a good presence outside consoles for gaming). http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/what-is-playstation-now-a-guide-to-sony-s-streaming-service https://www.statista.com/statistics/276768/global-unit-sales-of-video-game-consoles/ I've considered boycotting NVIDIA hardware because of this, in addition to their poorer support.

Hi everyone. Just a quick question about the Nvidia Shield voice search results. I don't know if it's the apps developers or what, but it seems that when I do voice search results or any searches in general, not everything content wise is coming up. For example, when I try to do a voice search for "Westworld" or "The Legend of Tarzan," which are both on HBO GO and HBO NOW at this time, there is no option to just jump to the HBO GO app. It used to have it a month ago, but now it no longer shows up. Same thing when I searched for "The Venture Bros" a month ago. Originally the HULU app would be shown and I just jump in, but now nothing except for Google Play and Vudu. I don't know what to do. Is there an update that I need to do or anything that I need to turn on in my Settings? I am missing something? Please help. Thank you.

Hi everyone. Got a question for all of you. What do you consider to be the best streaming box for the best picture and sound quality for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, HBO GO/NOW etc.: Roku Ultra, Amazon Fire TV 2nd Gen Box (not Stick) or Nvidia Shield 2017. I've been trying to figure it out recently and wanted an honest opinion. I own all three devices and have been trying to figure out which one I should stick with in the long run. Each one seems to have it's Pro's and Cons. While I do like the Shield, I do hate how sometimes the playback is not always accurate and sometimes fast forwards my show unexpectedly. And I just HATE the remote. They should have had dedicated Play/Pause buttons with Rewind and Fast Forward. Plus I feel that the Android TV platform may not last in the long run due to adoption/competition. And their voice search is not the most accurate. I still feel that Amazon Fire TV wins that battle hands down. Because of that, I'm leaning more toward the Amazon Fire TV, but I'm still unsure. So please let me know what you like and what you feel would be the best for Picture and Sound for streaming. Thank you.

The Internet code detleuths at XDA developer has found several references to the new Nvidia Shield TV hardware with the name "mdarcy".References in the Google Play Developer console seem to suggest this means there is a new and slightly refreshed version of Nvidia Shield TV, coming with the same Tegra X1 chipset, but powered by Android 9.This new information gives credence to a hardware leak in March in which the XDA developer saw the code name for the new Nvidia Shield controller and remote. It is estimated that all this information only shows a small update and refreshment of the 2017 version of Nvidia Shield TV rather than a new generation leap to Nvidia Shield 2.But there are some suggestions that the new model will include some adjustments to the chipset that allow it to support better power usage and increase the maximum GPU clock speed - which means more power behind old hardware. The addition of Android 9 will also help improve software settings and performance of the Nvidia Shield Experience software as well. Most of this is speculation at this point and we have to wait on the official news. We loved the Nvidia Shield TV technology in the past and the update will definitely be welcomed. Source: https://www.androidcentral.com/nvidia-shield-tv-new-hardware-and-android-90-pie-works

ok so, I was watching something on Netflix and my shield rebooted, I know this is a known issue but it doesn't bother me since it usually does it at midnight for me. anyways, when it was starting up I noticed that the android logo was small... like smaller than usual. when it finished the entire UI was small: oh great... so I ADB ed into the thing and set the density to 610: oh yay it's partly fixed, a reboot should fix the app icon issues! it didn't, in fact it reset my density back to 320 and I got the exact same issue again a Google search came up with nothing and I'm left with this... it's a god damn 4k screen, I can't read anything! I set it to 1080 and it does fix it but I watch 4k content regularly both on Netflix (which wasn't affected by this issue) and Plex (which does get affected by this issue) please help it's a Monday and I am like Garfield when it comes to Monday's...

Hello Everyone, I apologize if this has already been answered but i couldn't find an answer on my own. I'm looking for a simple solution (as cheap as possible) that would alllow me to stream any game from my PC to the TV in the living room. I would like to play some simple games with my GF like Crash Bandicoot or some single player like The Witcher 3. No fast games or multiplayer (for that i prefer to use my PC). If possible play games through emulators (to play PSX games). I already own an XBOX Controller. I Would buy a second one (compatible with the solution i would pick). Solutions compatible with wireless controllers would be better, but i'm ok with going "wired". Thank you in advance for any answer, Cheers, Mike

Hello, Just as the title states Is it worth it to get an Nvidia Shield rn ad the last version that was released is in 2017. The first modal is in 2015. Ik comparing this 2 might be weird But it would be a really sad choice if I bought something that was going to get refreshed next year <2019> I'm comparing with the Mi Box S because of it's price. But it seems to have some issues. If I take the Nvidia Shield, I was hoping to use it for like years to come if that's possible. Edit 1: the Nvidia shield is on sale rn till 25th that's why Thank you for reading, need your opinions

So I was giving some thought to building my next computer. The one I have was supposed to be the last one for quite a few years. Sadly, my research was incomplete. While I wanted to have multiple OSes in a multi-boot configuration, this particular motherboard is a bit Linux hostile. Downright unusable if Windows is also present. Blame their strange implementation of a Legacy/UEFI hybrid system. Then came the 7-Gamers pc followed by the 8 (or 10) gamers pc. Also, Linus's personal machine at home with the fiber thunderbolt connectors. This got my gears turning. If these insane rigs can support 7+ full-on gaming sessions, building a smaller version for my own needs should be much easier. Here are the features and requirements I'm looking for. Any and all helpful input is appreciated. Capability: This new machine will run my entire house. That's a lot less impressive than it sounds. It will need gigabit ethernet ports via expansion card(s) or onboard. Two minimum, three or four is better. For the multiple gamers portion, it only needs one moderately powerful video card. My gaming needs are not heavy. An NVidia Shield box will be used to sometimes mirror my primary desktop, or to allow a second gamer to play something different. All other virtual machines hosted within the box will be lo-res systems accessed by remote desktop or headless servers. The hosted virtual machines will be a mix of OSes with several Linux flavors and a few versions of Windows. Hardware: What I'm looking for in hardware might be considered weird. Overpowered in some areas and under in others. I'll of course take suggestions. But these are the broad, general specs that I think will carry me for many years. I'm thinking that this will have to be an Intel build for maximum support for multi-core, multi-thread, and Linux in general. But I'd gladly go AMD instead if the support and price are there. They've served me well, and I'm not a devout fanboy for either side. CPU: As Linus mentioned in the "$150 8Core Gaming PC," the build was successful primarily because better support for spreading the workload had been released just before those CPUs and MoBos reached end of life. As long as I can get those same kind of results, I want 16 threads of 2 GHz or higher in any configuration. A 16-core without hyperthread, an 8-core with HT, a pair of 8-cores without, a pair of 4-cores with. Doesn't matter. Don't care. Just looking for a good price to give me a good number of virtual cores. And while Linus comes down on AMD's 6- and 8-core chips when compared to Intel, I'd accept them all the same. But I just have the feeling that getting 16 cores (real or virtual) and flawless support for Linux and load balancing from them might be out of the question. MOBO: Unlike the $150 machine, I'm going to need a little expansion. A server board might have all the ethernet I need on board. But I expect that I'll need two PCI-E slots in addition to the one that gets my primary video card. It will also need to accept 64GB of ram minimum. Being able to build it with 128 and upgrade it further in the future would be better. In the end, a machine like this could provide me with a "daily driver" that changes OS at the drop of a hat. It would allow me to shift my gaming display between rooms, or run a second gaming vm for a friend. All this while also running vms of my shared file server, plex server, hosted game server, and opnsense gateway. And all of these can have snapshots, incremental backups, and replacement versions available at a moment's notice. Again, any thoughts on the best way to build this rig are appreciated, as are specific hardware suggestions. Looking for stability more that absolute computing power. Longevity over flash. But I'm totally going to nickname it Cerebro. Thanks.

Hi Everyone. I'm trying to figure out if there are other video streaming devices out there that have something equivalent to the "Roku Search" feature. Basically on Roku devices, the Roku Search allows you to search universally across several Subscription & Renting services to let you know what's available, thus saving you a few bucks when renting/watching. Example: Search for the movie "Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead" gives you several options of different places to rent (Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, etc.) and also shows that Netflix has it available if you Subscribe to it. While I do love my Roku 3 very much, I'm always looking for the next big thing for a smoother experience. Plus at times my Roku can get stuck when I do a Voice Search, thus I have to reboot it. I'm pretty surprised that most websites don't talk about this when it comes to reviewing streaming devices. Do any of the following devices below have something equal to Roku Search: NVidia Shield Xbox One Chromecast Any Other Suggestion Thank you.

I want to stream games from my pc (wifi) to my shield console (to be ethernet) I have little knowledge of networking but for some reason on speedtest I get close to double the down speed I got when I used ethernet. That is when I'm using the 5Ghz signal. So if I want to stream to my shield can I keep my pc wireless and plug in my shield? Also this speed difference isn't the case with all pc's if that matters. I think I just got lucky when I bought my pci e wifi adapter lol.

I was going to put a lower end gpu into my old hp desktop to play games until I can afford a good gaming pc later this year and on a sidenote I was going to get a chromecast for my tv. I seen the Nvidia shield tv with the chromecast built in and thought great I can have a chromecast and play games on this with lower settings until I get my gaming pc (basically everything I wanted in one box) but then I seen you gotta use nvidias own play store and it will not let you play games from your steam account natively on the shield (I know they have a stream from a geforce gaming pc feature but that's not an option with my old amd pc) I know it sounds dumb and backwards but my question is if I plug the shield into my old weak AMD gpu powered pc can my comp recognize the tegra x1 gpu in the shield and utilize that to play games at lower settings?

As the topic title says, has anyone got their hands on the new Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 tablet? I was wandering if anyone has it and used it for the last couple of weeks as I was thinking to get an upgrade from my Nexus 7 (2013) Initially I was thinking between the Pixel C and Nexus 9 but the former looks super overpriced with no LTE, and the later because the price is dropping and has a LTE version. I'm guessing and hoping that the Nvidia Shield Tablet will an unlocked LTE version soonish and with that price bracket it seems like a good buy once it happens. If anyone has the tablet how does it handle, and what is the daily use like?

What a way to start in LTT Community... Anyway, I had my Old-good NVIDIA Shield Portable since I guess a year now, and usint it was pretty awesome. I used to love the thing, and played almost everything I could on it... until the screen decided to not work 5 months later. Now, I'm having some serious concerns about how durable NV products are. So, what happened was that one day I was flipping through facebook and suddenly notticed that half of the touchscreen wasn't working. I didn't mind at all, since around that time facebook app was getting updated frequently, and it was common for it to just crash or make the system unresponsive. I closed the lid, and the next time I opened it, there was no output whatsoever. I tapped the buttons and I could hear the thing alive, doing something, but the screen was DEAD. I didn't apply for the warranty, because I'm not in the USA. So, the best Idea I could come up with was disassemble it and take a look at what would be causing that, and found that the entire flex for the screen ripped appart! Obviously, that's impossible to fix in any cheap way, and I was looking like crazy for a spare screen on almost every page I could find, but nobody sells spares for the Shield portable yet. Not even iFixit, or ebay, or Amazon, or <Inser your own obscure shopping webpage here>. There's no secret about the Shield Tablet's cracked corners (which I also own, and yes, 3 of the 4 corners are cracked, one badly) and now my question is, have you ever experienced some similar issue with the Shield Portable? If you own a Shield Tablet, how awful those cracks are, if any? Here, some pretty scary pictures of my poor Shield Portable.

Hello to every one, im asking you to help to decide what tablet should i buy! I hear a lot of good reviews about both of the Nvidia Shield and the Nexus 9 , and yet , for the last 3 months , cant decide, which one to buy! I wanna use tablet in future for the next : Web browsing Youtube Videos (maybe some times connect to bigger display to watch a movie ) email word ( maybe) for the studying ) The size of display is actually something i cant deside what better, i dont even care if it 10.1 inch , its just , some times is more comfortable when you in bus , at work, or some where else, and can just take a tablet , and relax watching a movie, or just search on web ( by the way , its mice if the tablet support the java on web, like some games, that run on web. About display also, i saw that they have same Pixel density , and shame that its low, cause i kinda want to feel more clear display view . And so as folowed, i like both of them, each have some good preferences, but i like that nvidia have stylus pen, and have mini hdm port, that i can connect , and also, i can play on it some serious games , although im not in that really way and dont know how i feel about the 8 inch display . The nexus i, bigger display , witch mean, better web browsing experience. With that said, thank you !
