Hello, my dearest Lithuanian tech tips, I have got an offer for uni and accepted it, into comp science(hurray), I have a laptop but need a tablet for note taking and stuff. My budget is below 250 USD/euro as I am in Europe and no baller. The specs I need are: A decent CPU, 6GB+ of RAM, 64GB+ of storage, over 9 inches , active stylus support? The options i found are: Realme Pad Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Lenovo Tab m10 plus but only 4gb of ram Lenovo tab p11/plus Honor pad 8 Xiaomi redmi pad A blackview tablet(my dad had a blackview phone and it worked ages so its a decent brand) I need active stylus support because I want to take notes obviously, but found out there are apps with palm rejection, which is essentially what I need, but the question remains, Do I need an active stylus if there's palm rejection involved in the apps themselves, like Nebo or can i choose the bottom 2 choices also as a potential buy and just buy a passive stylus? Could thee help out in this question.

Hi All I'm living in Beijing and my Note 9 has really been slowing down. It's been a really trusty workhorse for a while now and I've been putting off getting a new phone. There are some sales on at the moment and I'm trying to decide between a new Note, or a Fold 2 seeing as during these sales, the price difference makes the tablet aspect of it very appealing. The downside to getting one from China is that I do want to start with the standard Android/Samsung experience and customise from there. A lot of the Google services etc just won't be installed and apparently it can be a massive pain getting them to work due to how interconnected they are. I'm a PC guy and phones really aren't my territory, but with these sales I don't have much time to familiarise myself with how these processes work.. though I have been looking through forums. Is it possible to get the phone and install a normal version of Android/Samsung version from scratch and then customise it? From what I've seen, there's a bit of a minefield with being able to just install a fresh OS unlike with PCs. I've seen a lot of talk about Odin, ROMs, Bootloaders, LineageOS etc. Honestly the main things I need is access to PIA VPN, APKs and ideally the Play Store. I don't use a lot of voice commands currently but I am also getting into HASS so having the Google Assistant would probably be a big bonus. Many thanks in advance!

I am enrolled datacamp programming course and its seem like the more lesson i learnt the more i forgot So im looking for a note taking app that can do the following (ranked by my need) - cross-platform - easy to tags - in-line picture - online sync I have tried a few and none of them can do all my need - google keep, i can tags very easy with # but in-line picture is not possible - evernote, tagging is ok but not that easy as keep, in-line picture is ok too but 60mb for free account is not enough for me - onenote, i dont even know how to make a new note, maybe i will just skip this one Thanks in advance

Summary Galaxy Z Fold 3: - Under-display camera - S Pen - screen cover will be Ultra Thin Glass - To be released on Q3 2021 or as early as June 2021 - Note series is expected to be discontinued - Possible Z Flip 3, Z Fold FE Please note that this isn't officially confirmed by Samsung (as in they haven't said these things directly) -this is all according to reporting from South Korean media Aju Kyenogje and IT Chosun. Xda developers and other media have reported on this too. Quotes (Direct translation from original sources) Article 1: Article 2: XDA Article: My thoughts Interesting decision by Samsung, looks like they're expanding the S Pen to more devices. Hi guys, I’ve recently bought a used DDR3 Kingston’s RAM from eBay (HYPER X FURY HX318C10FRK2/16 (2X8 GB) DDR3-1866 CL10) for my old pc because my 8GB (2x4GB) RAM was bottlenecking. I’ve run a memtest at the clock speed and I’ve got no problems, but a note: “ram may be vulnerable to high frequency row hammer bit flips”. Is it a matter of concern? I can give back the RAM and buy another one, if this could be the better option. thanks for your advice!

I have had a Samsung Note phone for sometime now and the one thing that bugs the hell out of me is the curved screen when taking notes, how many times I start writing and I go over the curved part of the screen and lose text. I have noticed that the usable part of the note taking screen is 65mm which leaves 10mm of totally useless screen space, 10mm that's a lot of space when taking notes on a phone. Hoping for a flat Samsung Note phone in the future. Francis

My Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet was working fine until this one time when the whole screen froze. This happened to me a few times before so I held the power button to restart the tablet. Then when I tried turning it on again, the tablet just froze on the tablet's name "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1" screen. I don't know how this happened I didn't even root my android. I tried some solutions but none of them seemed to work. If any of you guys are reading this and have a solution pls help me.

The Samsung Note 7 is the best phone I've ever had. It took a beating from dropping, was "water resistant", and had super fast charging, faster than my current Moto Z Force. The Note 7 had responsive buttons and bright colors with a great speaker. (Disclaimer: I am NOT an audiophile. I don't know the difference between Bose & offbrand speakers.) The Note 7 did have issues, and did "burn" my "wireless" "rapid charger". It did also overheat when charging, and the phone would usually charge on the ground, on my cold hardwood floors. This was not because I was scared of it exploding, but I drain my battery on all of my phones during the day. They are in constant use. My phone is usually at less than 10%, so when I charge it overnight, I think of it as taking a pan that was boiling something, and then putting it under freezing water. Putting my phone into shock. This is why I wasn't surprised it over heated, most of my phones get hot. I wish Samsung put the money in to fix the phone, rather than recall. My Moto Z Force I currently use, has served me fine but has its issues. I really don't have much to complain about the Note 7. I have not given up with Samsung. Don't give up on them either please.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone devices will be banned from aircraft in the United States starting on Saturday at noon EDT (1600 GMT) under an emergency order, regulators said on Friday after numerous reports of the devices catching fire. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) scrapped its flagship Galaxy Note 7 smartphone on Tuesday because of incidents where the phones began smoking or caught fire, dealing a huge blow to its reputation. The decision to scrap the Note 7 came after reports of fires in replacement devices prompted a new round of warnings from regulators, phone carriers and airlines. The order from the U.S. Transportation Department and other agencies bars owners from carrying on the devices or stowing them in checked baggage during flights. "We recognize that banning these phones from airlines will inconvenience some passengers, but the safety of all those aboard an aircraft must take priority," said Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. "We are taking this additional step because even one fire incident inflight poses a high risk of severe personal injury and puts many lives at risk." The Transportation Department warned that passengers who packed the devices in checked luggage raised the risk of "a catastrophic incident." "Anyone violating the ban may be subject to criminal prosecution in addition to fines," the department said in a press statement. Via Reuters: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-samsung-elec-smartphones-idUSKBN12E2BC It's going to be annoying trying to explain to flight attendants and TSA agents that your S6 is not a Note 7. lol

I'm considering buying a Redmi Note 4x but according to the specs it doesn't support 800Mhz (Band 20). This band is used by most networks in the UK, including the one my sim is on. Will the phone's signal still function properly? Does anyone own a Xiamoi phone in the UK? If so, what is your experience? Thanks

Buy Note 8 on Amazon: http://geni.us/jbTtB What happens when Linus goes to an event all alone?

Hi all, I just got a Note 8 and my dad got an S8+. With the same settings, on my phone the AoD consumes ~6-10% of battery in just a few hours of uptime and on his phone it's negligible, not even shown on the battery data screen. Why is that and how can I fix this? Aren't the two phones supposed to be similar in battery draw and the Note 8 actually outperforming the S8+ in this regard even with a smaller battery? And even if the Note 8 has a higher consumption by default, why does the AoD, which is the same on the S8+ on _almost_ the same display, consumes more on my device than on his? Thanks in advance for your ideas!

I can't decide between the Note 8 and Mate 10... the only thing that's keeping me from buying the note 8 is the size (actually haven't tried it out yet, just an assumption that it'll be too big for me) In the poll I'll include more than these phones...

so i am an android power user i root all my phones regardless of their warranty but i never really bought a high-end phone. The thing is i just saved enough money to buy note 8 exynos version in USA cause apparently it's almost impossible to root the snapdragon version so my questions are 1. if i buy a note 8 exynos in us do i even get a warranty? 2. if it covers the warranty will i get the hardware malfunction warranty if i root it? 3. someone said to me buy an additional warranty to cover the phone when you root it. is this true? 4.should i buy it from Amazon or www.bhphotovideo.com? or another website ?

Ok, I've been a lurker of these boards for some time, but I felt like I needed to post some rants about my Note 10+ 5G as IMO, it doesn't nearly live up to the hype Samsung generated for this phone. I've owned every galaxy device up to the S8+ where I then switched to the Note 9 and now, 10+ but I think I'll be considering other manufacturers next year. Samsung are almost following sports car mentality with their phones in that you pay more for less. (I.e. a Porsche 911 GT3 RS is faster, and more expensive than the 911, but a lot of creature comforts and extras are removed) After a couple days with my Note 10, I find myself reaching for my note 9 too often. My gripes so far (may update as I continue using it) Left side power button - Every galaxy device since the OG galaxy S has had a right side power button. Not a deal breaker, but why change it? I take screen shots a lot and having both buttons to the left make taking them more awkward (and I'm not a fan of the palm swipe capture) Reduced sound quality over Note 9 - I was blown away when I first played some bass heavy music on my Note 9 as it punches out the lows unlike any other phone I've heard. The 10+ has a whole lot of chassis vibration, but very little Bass. No status LED - OK, I get this is impossible due to the full screen coverage, but a workaround can be made with samsungs own, GoodLock and the EdgeLighting+ plugin to show a light ring around the camera hole. But unless it's something you already know about, it's not exactly advertised. I rely on the LED at work as I can see it in the corner of my eye. With the 10, I have to keep reaching for it to check the AOD. No IR facial recognition / iris scanner - again, there are obvious reasons it's not included, but face unlock using camera alone almost seems far less secure. I have yet to test using a photo to unlock. NO PRESSURE SENSITIVE HOME BUTTON! - Seriously, this has been the most frustrating feature removal for me. Again, every device has had a physical, then at least a pressure home button. I am continually squeezing the bottom of my phone, only for nothing to happen. it's a very hard habit to break and I don't understand why it couldn't be incorporated. The lower right speaker magnet throws off the sPen accuracy when your are hovering, or drawing within about 5mm around it. I ditched my magnetic shut case on my note 9 for this reason, and now it's baked into my Note 10 The more aggressive "right to the edge" curves often cause accidental palm touches when reaching across the screen. The note 9 had an ever so slightly larger bezel on the sides and I never encountered this. The lack of a 45w charger. Samsung has always (mostly) included in the box, a charger that can power the device as fast as it is capable of. For an £1,100 phone, I kind of expect the 45w charger to be included. The under screen fingerprint reader - Although quick, I get far too many 'unrecognized fingerprint' errors. The rear scanner of my Note 9 worked 100% of the time, every time for me. despite this, I am overall impressed with the 10+'s raw performance, camera quality and display. I can also live with the 3.5mm jack removal as I rarely use it anymore anyway, but I'm seriously tempted to use my 14 day window to return it and stick with my 9 for another year as I feel like the 10 is pretty much a slightly faster CPU and larger display, at the expense of too many other features.

so im planning to buy a phone at a tight budget of $100 from a local shop. I have no way of importing as taxes are insane and newer phones at my budget are pretty useless. If these galaxy devices are no gud what other phones do u suggest that i check out in the used market.

I'm after Bear-like (https://bear.app) notes app for Windows. Something lightweight with the ability to tag or organize notes. Apps like EverNote are too cluttered with features. Willing to pay up to ~$20 if there's a good paid option. Thanks.

Are any of these old Samsung phones usable these days
Shammikit posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Hello, i'm in need of a phone and im on a tight budget. Thinking of buying something like an old galaxy S4, S5 or a Note 2. I usually use a phone to access a couple of apps (mainly browse facebook and instagram) and if the battery life and the camera is gud too i would be happy to have it. I wouldn't mind having to install a custom OS . Thanks. -
I think I will be getting the Note 10 5G next. But I am really interested to see what the Pixel 4 is going to be like. Which should I be looking at? I am going to try and make my Note 5 last until at least the the Pixel 4 has a chanced to get reviews. With the little information that is out looks like the Note 10 will be the winner but would like to wait at least a month after release for a flame test (Note 7). Or is there something else I should be looking at all together? Masters of the Internet I beseech thy wisdom!

OK, I saw the video that showed Linus updating a old phone so I have a nice in perfect condition Samsung Note 3 which I put away. I found some nice deals on new battery for it but was stuck on what software to add to it? I found that you can add android pie to it but is that good? what would be a good software to use on it so that it's safe? I don't remember the software OS Linus used in the video and I can't find that video so was hoping someone would see this and help me bring life back to my old phone I really liked it.
