PC specs: Processor: AMD FX 8120 125w with Thermaltake Contac 21 air cooler. Ram: Corsair vengeance DDR3 2x4 GB. Motherboard: Asus 970 PRO Gaming/AURA. SSD: Consistent M.2 NVME 512GB HDD: 1x Seagate Barracuda 2TB, Seagate Barracuda 80GB. Graphics Card: Zotac Nvidia GTX 1650. PSU: Corsair RM750e. Hi guys, Like the title says, I was using PS/2 keyboard until now recently brought Ant eSports KM1600 usb keyboard & Mouse combo every time I start my PC I have to unplug and replug my keyboard, and it then works fine. Though it didn't occur after a "Windows Restart" but only after disconnecting my PC from AC power source. I have tried in BIOS 1) Turning on & off usb 2.0 legacy, usb 3.0 legacy, EHCI hand-off 2) fast boot on & off with usb option on "Full initialisation" 3) gone through safe boot option there's nothing related to usb. I have tried in windows 1) Device Manager 2) Event Viewer Also tried changing to all usb port on motherboard & cabinet. In simple word my usb keyboard not getting power unless unplug & replug.

Hi! I have an old 20" Asus monitor, a friend of mine give it to me saying that He never used it a lot. As you can see in the attached video, when I plug it in a socket the only thing that happens is a short blue LED and then nothing else. What can it be? Some component need to be change? Thanks to everyone who will answer. 20240408_152857_1.mp4

Need some insights, maybe anyone went through this before. I have a Z490 MEG ACE, paired with i9-10900k. A week ago I had a problem when I booted my PC, it went straight to BIOS and loaded defaults. I activated XMP, saved and everything was OK until today. For the record, yesterday I was on the PC for 4-5 hours with no problems, turned it off normaly. Today the PC did not start, no power. The led on power button on the board is on. I tried to check out the issue. I checked cable connections from PSU, cleaned everything up, removed everything, even RAM. My first guess was the PSU. I tried 2 different PSUs, but I only had at hand models with only 1 8-pin connectors to test. The same happens, led on the power button is on when I plug it in, nothing works, PC doesn't start. Tomorrow I need to try to fix it because I have work to and depend on it. Do I really need the 2 8-pin connectors to at least get the fans going? Or should I look into the CPU/Motherboard instead?

So um, maybe I f*cked it up even more? One of my relatives had this laptop and he gave it to me to try repairing it, it had blinking orange light at the battery Icon and it was not turning on, it has an integrated battery so the laptop has an external reset pinhole, when I held it down for a couple seconds and tried powering it on again the orange light did not lit up anymore and since then its still the same, not giving any type of signal. I took the laptop cuz I knew if its a battery problem I just order a new one and thats it, but now idk what should I do

MSI PRO B650-P WIFI Building a new PC and have plugged power into the 24-pin connector, cpu-fan (from cooler), and the cpu power. Was hoping to get at least some LEDs as a sign of life, but not sure why it isn't getting power. I actually tried this psu on another board and it get power to it. Not trying to turn the system on, just trying to make sure the board is getting power. Any ideas? See pics

I ran into a problem when trying to install a new amd cpu yesterday. I first installed the new cpu with no issues. Then once installed booted up the pc and realized I needed a bios update. So I flashed my bios and updated it. Then I tried to boot my pc and it would start up but I had no display. So I went through all of those troubleshooting steps and nothing worked. Now today I decided to just put in the old cpu to try and make sure all the components still worked and that it was in fact a cpu issue. After installing the old cpu I then tried to turn on my computer and nothing. I tried jump starting it and nothing. Everything is plugged in all the way and properly and nothing seems to turn on at all. So any help is appreciated as to what my options are.

My build: i7-9700k gigabyte aorus z390 master zotac rtx 2060 cooler master 650W 80 plus gold My pc has been running absolutely fine for 3.5 years. But after updating my gpu driver recently the pc got completely frozen. Even power or reset button wasn't working. I had to unplug and re-plug to restart the computer. It ran fine for a couple of hours. When I left to do something else for around half an hour, after coming back I though my pc was in sleep mode as usual. But when I pressed power button I just heard a click sound from psu and pc didn't even post. No fans were spinning. The ram rgb lit up after a while and nothing else happened. Upon further pressing power button nothing else happened. When I turned off and on psu switch and pressed power button again, I heard the same click and the same thing happened. When I took out the GPU the pc started normally. None of my friends own a desktop so I can't check with another gpu or system. I took my pc to a local repair shop and they checked with a low power gpu (didn't need pcie power cable), the pc again turned on fine. They didn't have a power supply suitable for checking my GPU so I brought it back home. Now I want to take my gpu or psu to the shop I bought it from. It's not possible to take the whole pc due to some issues. Sadly gpu warranty period is over but PSU still has warranty left. So if the gpu is actually dead I'll have to get another one. But I'm unsure which one is causing the problem and which one to take. Please help me figure out what to do at this point. I saved up for years to build my pc. If I end up replacing the gpu, I'll have to settle for a gtx1650 or rx6400 since gpu prices has increased in my area and my budget decreased. So I kinda hope the psu is causing the problem. It really breaks my heart when I think about the whole ordeal. I wish better pc parts were available at similar price or same parts at a cheaper price after a few years but that is not the case.

Hello, this is my first time building a pc and I am at a loss as to what the issue could be. I have a Sonic Z790 PG mobo that turns on its lights when I plug the psu in and attempt to turn it on. However, nothing else happens. No fans, other lights, etc. I tried starting it with the screwdriver on the two power pins but that did nothing. My case has a power button and I have it plugged into the mobo but still there is nothing. Maybe I don't have everything plugged in properly to the psu? I have attached two pictures of how the psu looks. I put the CPU cables on the motherboard like the manual says to. There are two cables for them. The 4090 gpu requires 4 different cables plugged into the psu which had me confused at first since I thought it would just be one. I'm not sure why there needs to be four different ones. And I also took a picture of the layout of the mobo from the manual with it. I circled where I plugged in the cpu cables. Is this right? Again I'm very new to all this and any help would be appreciated. I'm at a loss right now.

Hello, I really need help figuring out this issue with my newly built PC. I bought a 3070 the other day and when it was plugged in it prevented the PC from turning on at all. The fans in the PC would move like a centimeter and then stop (also didn’t light up). I thought it was a faulty card so I went and bought another one. The new 3070 I bought doesn’t work as well. I tried everything i can without looking at bios since I don’t have integrated graphics in my cpu. We plugged a different GPU into the PC and it works fine, just not the 3070. I restarted cmos, restarted bios and updated it with the old card. The parts I have work with the card so it’s also not a compatibility issue. It’s a new PC so I know nothing is wrong with motherboard or PSU. Please offer any suggestions on what it could be.

Today my daughter was loading up a game on her pc to show me something and her pc shout down. I tried switching the power supply off, leaving it about 20 seconds and powering it back on but nothing happened, Pressing the power button doesn't do anything. The first time you press the power button after switching the psu back on the fans seem to start to receive power because they spin a tiny bit. All the devices that are connected vie usb are still receiving power, the keyboard and mouse light up wich makes me thing it isn't the PSU? If the psu was dead I would have thought there would be no power to anything whatsoever, is this right? I have done a visual inspection of the motherboard but I can't see any damage on it, any suggestions on how I should go about troubleshooting?

Hi all, For some reason my brand new pc i built stopped working overnight after a full day and a half of it functioning normally after the build. I thought the PSU might be bad so i swapped that out because the entire PC seems like its getting no power (no lights anywhere no fans either) that didn't change anything. I tried de-seating the ram and booting, i unplugged the gpu and ram and tried again to see if it would at least beep but that didn't do anything. I swapped the cables all out too from the PSU to the motherboard. I tried holding down the motherboard reset button for 10 seconds that also didn't work. Is my new board dead? i don't understand what happened, its plugged into a power strip and my other desktop plugged into it as well doesn't have this issue so i don't think there was a surge or anything. Any tips would be appreciated! I have a problem with my MacBook Pro 2017, after I installed a new ssd I can't turn on Mac. I checked if maybe any cables are loose, I did a power cycle, I tried to disconnect my battery and power the Mac without it, but all that didn't work. When I try to start the Mac it does absolutely nothing, no fan noise no led turn on nothing… Does anyone know what the issue could be? thanks for your help

suggestions so far: front panel pins plugged in the other way, screwdrivering power pins other stuff I'll try: test psu with a pin I guess that's it for now, hopefully can work it out from there Components MSI b450m mortar max Ryzen 5 3600 rx 560 2gb gskill aegis 3200c16 2x8 120gb m2 ssd 1tb hdd corsair cx550m I connected all the cables as best as I could from the instructions but nothing happens after pressing the power button. I have no clue if the motherboard is supposed to have standby lights but I see 0 of it, nothing gets any power. Dead silence after pressing power button. CPU had some bent pins that I fixed but they weren't that bad, like just needed a little bit of straightening, other than that I can't point at anything because the rest of the build is brand new so unless psu is dead out of box I can't think of anything else. First time I had this with a build, guess it was bound to happen. What can I do to figure out what's wrong exactly? Doublechecked cables and reseated ram but no luck. Maybe I completely forgot something and it ends up being an easy fix, dunno at this point thinking about sleeping on it and seeing how it goes tomorrow.

Hey guys, I had built this PC 2 weeks ago. Everything was working fine, however when in high demand games the games would often crash to desktop for no reason. Tried troubleshooting this issue to earths END. Made no sense to anyone. Fast forward to today... go to press power button on PC and.. nothing happens at all. I notice the "Start" button LED on MOBO is lit up but fans do not spin at all and the PC does nothing. Also, when I press the power button either on MOBO or the case it shuts the LED indicators off. I jumped the power supply using provided jumper from EVGA and the PSU fan spins but it only will power the RGB lights on the case fans. The fans do not spin and my GPU RGB lights do not turn on. I listened closely to back of PSU unit and even with PC off its making a low-audible electrical buzz constantly. I find it odd that while terminated the PSU fan will spin but when connected to 24-pin mobo it does nothing. I am pretty convinced this is a failed 12-V rail on the power supply or bad capacitors but would like opinions! I ordered a replacement (seasonic) and will be asking for a RMA on the EVGA Supernova GA 850W that is in question. I have tried disconnecting all components one by one to no avail (except CPU and mobo of course) I am worried if this could be a MOBO or CPU issue.. but I find it unlikely the PC worked less than 24hrs earlier. I have had both this CPU and motherboard for about 3 years with no major issues so far. In the last month I'd had 1-2 BSODs where the message said something about CPU power delivery errors. Today after I replaced the RAM I had in it with some new Trident Z RGB ram I bought. It booted for a few seconds, seemed like it was going to post (screen went from no input to black) and then restarted with no post. After that it booted again, the RGB lighting on the ram turned on, and then a second later the whole PC shut off. I tried powering it on a third time, and this time it would power on for about half a second, lights would flash and whatnot (00 displayed on the 8 segment) and then it would instantly shut off. I tried the old ram, a different PSU and even no RAM. The only thing that worked to get the board to turn on without seemingly dead shorting the power supply was removing the CPU. After doing that the board powered up normally (albeit without a CPU). What I'm wondering is, is this more likely the motherboard, or the CPU? It seems like it could be either, since there might be a short in the CPU power delivery circuitry, or the CPU could be dead shorted. Either one is expensive to test replacing (~$250 for a new motherboard and ~$290 for a new cpu), but which one is more likely? Also does anyone think the RAM might've killed it? I tried plugging the RAM in too with no CPU and its RGB turned on. Thanks, Alec

A while back I bought a pre build "gaming" pc from Amazon. I should note it was refurbished although when I got it it seemed to work fine. The thing is an inspiron 5680 I7-8700 16gb ddr4 ram Gtx 1060 3gb 8F6C9T is the service tag if you're curious about specificly everything in it but it wont matter much for the question I think. Long story short I gotta put my dunce cap on. I know better than to plug so many power hungry things into 1 strip especially one that also powers my pc. Yet that is what I did. As I replaced a set of rechargeable batteries on a charger plugged into said strip I heard an audible pop and smelled that dreaded electrical heat smell. Now when I open it up and get a look nothing looks damaged although I was able detect a faint smell coming from the psu. I could still smell it by the gpu as well but I'm hoping that's just because its so close to to the real source. When plugged in pressing the power button does absolutely nothing. No lights. No fans. Nothing. Now most Dell psu's have some button on that back of it to test the psu. Curiously when. I press that all the lights inside the case come on. Every single fan including the one on the gpu spins up and the little green light stays solid like they say should happen. For a short time I wondered if it was just the litteral power button that had been damaged as I've actually had issues with it in the past not doing anything. After unplugging plugging it back in and tinkering with it it always seemed to fire eventually. I wouldn't have smelled the burnt psu if it was just a bad power button tho. Ive been wanting to upgrade for a while anyway so as of right now I decided to bite the bullet and start over. I'm gonna build my own rig this time rather than pre built. I already bought a new case, power supply, and motherboard. The idea being that I can drop in the cpu, ram, and gpu from my fried pc to see if they will work while I save for some nicer components (looking at getting an i9-9900k, some faster ram ,and eventually get my hands on one of those new 3080s) My question is. Is this safe? Should I be dropping possibly defective parts into my brand new motherboard to see if they work or should I just assume they don't and go without a pc for a while until I get everything else together? So far the parts I have got for my new build are Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro Full Tower Chassis with Window Cases PH-ES614P_BK,Black Motherboard: Asus Prime Z390-A PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 Ga, 80 Plus Gold 850W, Fully Modular Also grabbed a cheap cooler : Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo (will buy something nicer along with the 9900k if the 8700 doesn't work)

I'm having an issue where a PC is randomly restarting on its own now none of my USB's are working or even getting power (RGB's aren't turning on). Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong or what I could try to fix it? The restarts started while playing Apex the game froze and then the PC restarted on its own. No blue screen or anything. Then it happened again just trying to change an audio setting in Golf With Friends. I verified the game files on both games but now the PC started restarting just from the desktop alone. Motherboard LED's are on so the board must have some kind of Power. Now I can't even get video to my monitors when I try to turn my PC on. PC is relatively new with a GTX 1070 and an i5 9600K which is air cooled. Please help!

Hey there, my newly built PC won't turn on at all. All the components are brand new. However, when the PSU is turned on, the RGB lights on the mobo do turn on for a few seconds, but pressing the power button does nothing: no fans are spinning nor any other lights are turning on (of course nothing turns up on the monitor). What we've tried (not necessarily in this order): Shorting the power pins (after verifying that the front panel connectors were wired the right way) Reattaching the 24 pin and 8 pin mobo cables, same for the GPU cables Trying one RAM stick at a time Installing the extra standoffs on the case and screwing them in (the mobo was previously hanging on 6 out of 9 screws, but the standoff holes were matching with the case, so it couldn't have possibly shorted the mobo) Plugging the PSU in the wall socket and in the UPS Removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes Reseating the CPU (no pins were bent) and the cooler Checked that the firmware is compatible with the CPU (from the last 4 digits on the mobo's barcode) I doubt it's the PSU as the aforementioned rgb lights wouldn't turn on at all if it wasn't receiving any power, right? I also don't think the mobo is fried as I didn't expose it to static electricity nor did I feel anything while building. I should mention that the GPU is in the second PCIe slot (I don't think it matters but maybe it has something to do with all this?) Any help would be appreciated. Hello me and my friend were building him a new computer this is his first build and my 2nd. After assembling the computer the first time all the wires connected panels back on the case when we went to turn it on. Nothing happened. No lights on the motherboard, no beeps, absolutely nothing. He bought the motherboard, gpu and ram second hand so i was thinking the motherboard was faulty after reconfirming the wires and everything. I bought him a new board. We rebuilt the pc and the same has happened to this one. Any help would be appreciated. So I live in South Africa where they have been putting the power off for about 8 hours every day. I work from home and it's starting to effect my work... there is no way I will be able to afford solar so I feel like my options are between the following Buy a Laptop that can handle audio editing and some light video editing Or Buy an inverter with batteries that can power my current PC A generator is not an option since it will be way to expensive to keep it running I don't know enough about inverters to really make the decision on my own and when it comes to laptops I'm pretty clueless. Also with me living where I do Laptops are a lot more expensive than in America and Europe so it might be hard to help me decide on one but my Budget is just under $2000. I need my pc or laptop to last at least 6 hours If I need to post any extra info then I'll do that xD

The computer is getting no power or any signs of life. I have tried booting with a screwdriver and power switch. Gpu got 0 life. At the place I bought the motherboard they said they did update it but they could be lying. if you need more info please ask https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gVfjsL
