I'm looking into getting a new phone. I'm going android and that's about all I know. I have a pixel 7 now and it's great aside from the battery and the charging port. I used to have a pixel 5 and the charger on that went bad too so I'm hesitant on getting the pixel 8. I'm also debating on getting the Galaxy S23+ or waiting to see what's up with the S24 series. I am very open to other suggestions. I am looking for good battery life, decent screen quality, and waterproofness

I lost my oneplus 7 recently and I loved it. I saw the new One plus and Nord series but four cameras is really not necessary for me. I'd rather have one or two nice cameras with decent zoom. Also, I really enjoyed the 4k 60fps video camera on the oneplus 7 but maybe that has become standard on todays phones? I am open to any phone but am unsure about what specs I am getting for the price and believe you guys have better judgment than myself. After building a pc, RAM and screen refresh rate are things I am fimilar with but, when it comes to battery and cameras I am clueless. My budget is 550USD, hope you guys can save me days of research through your own experience. Have a nice week!

Hello, I am finally coming round to replacing my trusty j5 2017 and would like some recommendations. So far I have thinned it down to redmi note 10 pro, mi 11 lite 5g or poco f3. I am happy to take suggestions as long as they a under £400 and are available in the uk. I dont mind the brand as long as its decently big and 1080p at least. Amoled is preferred but apart from that, anything goes. Thanks in advance.

Recommendation: new phone replacing Huawei Mate 20 Pro
lukeb007 posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Hi together, while I normally would describe myself as tech savy the current state of the smartphone market (and the review space/ its trustworthyness) leaves me seeking some kind of external input. Currently I'm using a Huawei Mate 20 Pro which I am very happy with if it would not have started deteriorating pretty fast and therefore I'm on the market for a replacement. The price is not importance but should not exceed 1200€. I don't need much space on my phone (less than 100GB used after all the years and not really cleaning up after myself). I love the possibility of using face scan and in-screen fingerprint as ways to unlock my phone. I occassionally play games but none of the high end category. I enjoy taking high quality pictures (as far as that is possible with "just" a phone) and love that my family always refers to me/my phone to take the best looking photos. Another important point for me is battery live since I'm a pretty hardcore user (thanks Homeoffice) and want my phone to last a whole day which can consist of upwards of twelve hours of screen time. I thought of the Fold 3, which recently dropped in price, but I think that I would probably be more of an early adopter that has to live with all the flaws of such a device. Of course the S22 Ultra is also on my list, but espacially regarding the battery life I've also heard quite some critique. I'm not completely against Apple but like the overall feel of Android much better and enjoy the fingerprint sensor as mentioned. Finally I use my phone as a way of consuming content so a great screen is also important for me. I hope that at least someone read all of that and is able to support my decision making process with his/her input! Thank you for that! -
Still going strong on my 5 year old LG V30. Keeps up with usage on a lazy day but is showing its age. If I get any more usage time than 8h (that's usage not screen on time) in a single charge I've been conservative. It's worn out with massive burn in to the point where I've even received a message from my carrier that they're shutting down 3G and I'm on such an old phone, they've given me a 25% discount on any new phone on top of existing discounts. So let's say I do get a new phone. Have you seen the market? All boring phones that look exactly the same as one another with meaninglessly powerful specs that I feel are more often a detriment to how well it functions rather than enhancing the experience. 120Hz screen on a phone for what? Just so the 3 seconds that I look at what the time is is super smooth? So that when I record a video the camera stats come back to me at 120fps even though I'll be recording the video at 30fps? Silly. That's the same if the car industry put launch control on a front wheel drive 1.0L VW UP. That's like buying a 3090ti just to play CSGO/Valorant on a 1080p 60hz monitor... My rant out of the way, the only 2 phones that have even remotely peaked my interest are the Pixel 6a and Nothing phone (1). With Google I can kind of know what to expect. Good software and long-term software support. I hope. I've heard Pixel 6 had a ton of bugs that turned people away and lost a lot of users but you think Google will have fixed most of them by the time Pixel 6a comes out? Shame 1080p, no headphone jack and even worse no wireless charging. For such a huge 6.1" phone to have such a low resolution screen really is a turn off. Have either a small phone with 1080p or a big 6.1" phone with 1440p. Worst of both worlds. And then there's the new kid on the block. The Nothing phone. Specs wise I'm satisfied. Shame it's also a ginormous at 6.55" with the same low resolution 1080p screen at least it has wireless charging. Size to screen is even worse here. The question is what is their plan with OS and software support? The same 2 years of updates and then abandon like most of the industry does? Anyone know how their custom OS is gonna work? Closer to vanilla android, something bloated like Sony's old android or a disgusting imitation of IOS like Honor used to do. I've always jumped ship and dove into the deep ends with every new android phone I've gotten and the last 8/10 android phones I've used it's been a good purchase. Which one should I look forwards to the most? Or is there some other phone anyone can recommend that I should keep an eye out for too?

Hi, I am looking to get a new phone sometime soon. I have been using my OnePlus 7 Pro since January 2020. It's been in great condition for me and runs well, I love it, just want something new. I want something with a nice camera, clean Android OS, snappy response, high refresh. I don't really have a budget, I just kinda save the needed money to get what I want. I know there are plenty of great Android phones out there, just want to see what others would recommend, Thank You!!!

I am looking for a new phone, my current one (HTC M8) is not cutting it anymore. I love the speakers still but other than that I am not too picky. I have a budget of $750 CAD ($550 USD) and will be putting a case on it so the feel doesn't matter to me. I do not like huge phones so something like iPhone 6+ size is out of the question. Suggestions?

So, I'm about to head over to the Verizon store to pick up a new Google Pixel XL by trading in my iPhone 6s. Any suggestions on what i should do with it? If you have one, do you like it? How does it compare to your experience with an iPhone? I absolutely hate the circular icons on the pixel. If someone could tell me how to make them not circular, that'd be great.

I'm looking for a new phone. My old phone was Motorola DEFY XT. Quite out dated and now it's broke so it's time to switch. I'm a new to the smartphone market so bear with me. This is what i want my phone to do: Hold a LOT of music! I had a ton on my old phone so much it felt bloated. No bigger than 5.5 inch screen. It can be smaller but no bigger. Has to be compatible for VR boxes. Not sure what hardware I need to make that work. Strap the phone to your face with the correct app and your good, right ? I don't play games on my phone, I still would appreciate it being quick. The phone itself doesn't have to look good as i will just put a protective case over it anyways. Good camera for video/pictures. A lot of people have different idea of what "good" means. A good camera to me can take pictures quick. If i were to take a picture of a page of a book it should be readable. Video should be able to record something moving a decent distance away without blur. This was a huge feature on my Moto DEFY that I really liked - WIFI calls. When I got home, I'd connect to the wifi and my phone would use it for all calls and text. As where I live doesn't get good reception, this feature is huge. Is that a standard on all phone? I'd like to use the same phone number and stay away from shady wifi apps if possible. My budget is $400 max.

*sigh* So I moved into college a couple months ago and got a new laptop because I couldn't take my old battle station. I got a hankering for BF4 and decided to download origin. Only I need some google authentication before I can login (app authenticator, It called it). I had GA on my old phone but it bricked itself a while back so I couldn't transfer accounts to my new phone. I've re downloaded the app and it dumps me to a page where I only have two options: scan a bar code or enter a key. I have neither so I go to the 2-step-verification web page on my computer (https://myaccount.google.com/security?rapt=AEjHL4M83ePebQLyYdBzaXeBjswaOgfFdoha8816EftIpH3j6n3nlq0agtqcDz5hhbx9LKfC9_IDy8X3aKonbr1kP1_jZ9sEFA&rapt=AEjHL4M83ePebQLyYdBzaXeBjswaOgfFdoha8816EftIpH3j6n3nlq0agtqcDz5hhbx9LKfC9_IDy8X3aKonbr1kP1_jZ9sEFA) and when I click on "2-Step Verification" under "password & sign-in method" it takes me to an information page about 2-step verification and a "get started" button. The button leads to a sign in page, I sign in and am dumped back to the first page I linked above. All the guides I've looked through don't follow this pattern. It's immensely frustrating to deal with and I'd be very great-full if I could get some help.

Hello forums, Is it worth going for the Samsung Galaxy S6 if my budget is limited or should I pick something more recent, like the Galaxy J7 Pro? I've been looking to buy a new phone with a budget of 400-something Euros. I want an OLED screen, because I've seen those have very good contrast ratios and, to my eyes, superior image quality in general, so that limits most of my options to Samsung's AMOLED screens. I'm used to their Touchwiz Android interface, so it's no big deal on that side. I did a search on GSMArena for 350-400 Eur and one of the results was the S6. I thought it might be a good choice, since it used to be the flagship phone of Samsung, but does it perform up to par for most today's tasks, or am I better off getting a newer model like the J7 Pro (specifically that variation since it has 32GB of storage and an AMOLED display)? I do not need features like USB Type C or IP rating. They're nice to have if they're offered, but they're the last thing I'm looking for. I want it to perform daily tasks such as watching YouTube or Twitch with Messenger open on the side without any hiccups (my current phone cannot do that). I want to hear feedback from someone who has experience in this particular field. Answers are very greatly appreciated.

Hello So this is my Sony Xperia Z3C, My baby is literally hold together by duck tape (http://prntscr.com/dinn4s). The duck tape is lossing grip and i don't know what device to buy, I'm thinking of the Sony Xperia XZ but i don't need dual-sim support. Not a big fan of Samsung, HTC and Huawaii. The Google Pixel is to expensive compared to the performance. Don't even think about a iPhone. I really don't know what phone to get myself, i don't care about the font-facing camera and a fingerprint sensor is nice but not necessary. Any suggestions?

Hey guys, My current phone (Samsung Core Prime) has begun to occasionally stop charging so I'm looking to upgrade. I've had my eye on a couple of phones: the Oppo AX7 and the Oppo Reno Z, although I'm not too sure which to pick. I'm open to any suggestions around my budget of AU$500 Thanks for any help!

I'm trying to find a new phone within the $300 to $370 range, and I don't want to go for a budget device, as that is what I am on right now. Instead, I am looking at refurbished flagships from 2017 or 2018 trying to decide between the Galaxy S9, iPhone 8, and Pixel 2 XL. Right now, the iPhone 8 and the Pixel 2 XL seem like the strongest options, the iPhone because of the long-term apple software support, as well as the A11 processor working together to futureproof it, though the storage and memory for the price isn't great. The pixel also seems like a good option because it has the oled screen over the iPhone, as well as the higher resolution, more storage, and 4 GB of ram, although the processor seems like a trade-off. I have no problem with having to install a different version of android later when Google or Samsung stops supporting their older phones. When it comes to hardware though, it seems to me like there will be many more replacement iPhone parts available in 3-4 years than either the pixel or the S9. Another reason I am not too excited about the S9 is I have held it before, and I am not a huge fan of its feel, which I think might really bother me if I end up using it. That doesn't mean that I'm not open to the possibility of using it.

Is it an worth upgrade for my oneplus 3? -
Hi all, So I left the flagship market a few years ago to see how I enjoyed using a phone I could line drive into a wall the moment something went wrong with it. The product of that switch (the Samsung Galaxy J7) got the job done, but I'm now less interested in compromise: I want my next phone to be able to handle my daily activities without being massively over- or under-powered for them. I don't have many strict requirements, but here are the items I'm focusing on: Fingerprint sensor (should work with LastPass, though I can't imagine there are fingerprint sensors that don't work with LastPass) Quick app loading. Consider that I'm upgrading from a phone with 2gb RAM and a processor that they don't even bother mentioning in their literature -- I don't think this'll be a high bar to clear Android Auto is a big one. It takes upwards of a minute to sync up with my car on the J7, if it works at all Audible is another one that 1) takes longer than I'd like to load, and 2) tends to unload from memory if I so much as pause playback for more than a minute or two General phone browsing. You know what I'm talking about -- the when the phone just pauses when you click a link to the "wrong" site or load up an app. Even if the app performs fine after it loads Quick loading camera. The samsungs I've had in the past have had cameras that loaded lightning quick (If I recall, you could load the camera from your lock screen and snap a photo within 2 seconds or so. Don't know if this was a feature of the phone or just a byproduct of being powerful enough to load the camera software quickly) Gotta be Android. And that's about it. I suppose it's worth mentioning that I'd like it if the phone could stay charged throughout a day after a few hours of bluetooth headhpone activity and maybe an hour of internet browsing, but I feel like that's probably a given -- I'm not doing any intensive things on my phone, so I don't think battery life is a concern. I do like a quality camera, but that's so subjective that I don't really want to focus on it. I'm mostly going to hope that the camera I get is going to be acceptable (but if you ARE aware of the image quality on the J7 camera, I want it to be better than that!). Storage will inevitably be sufficient for my needs. I'm currently making do on 16gb of storage, so I'm pretty sure I'll be fine on that front. I've been looking at the Samsung Galaxy S10e, but I'd like some informed input as to whether the 6gb of RAM version will be a big enough upgrade or if I should shell out the extra money for the 8gb model. More importantly, I'm wondering if there are cheaper options out there with the suite of options I'm looking for that I'm just not finding. Thanks ahead for the input!

What phone should I get for the next 4 years. Is Doogee S80's cpu that good that I can play GTA San without problems. I'll use it as my daily driver next 3-4 years. Suggest me phone under 300 USD if that's not a good choice. Thanks!

Hi all, My phone contract is up in a little over a week. I currently have a Sony Xperia XZ Premium and am looking for a suitable replacement. I used to only buy Windows phones, I used to love how everything worked, but they're kaput and were never really well supported with apps. Anyway, this was my first android phone and I'm happy enough to stick with Android, so I'm looking at a replacement. A decent camera and screen are important to me, but I'm not overly bothered by gimmicks and I don't use many apps other than YouTube and the usual social medias. I would also rather not have something too big, I find my current phone to be a good size. I'd like a decent battery life and good reliability, obviously. I've been considering the Pixel 4, or one of the last Galaxy S10s; but I don't know if they are going to be an actual upgrade or not. I'm really out of touch with the current phone market, so I thought I'd turn to the experts for advice. Any thoughts will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Im looking for a new upgrade, from my old relic, honor 7 lite/honor 5c. its been getting slower, and more unresponisve the last couple of years, and im sick of everything freezing or crashing. I cant even stream anime online without any kind of freeze or lag. Sometimes it doesnt even want to turn off when i press the power button. Anyways, I got around 200-300$ of my xmas money to spend on it, but im not sure which phone is for me... I got a friend that got an xiaomi phone (its as big as a tablet almost xd) and he really likes xiaomi phones, AND all their other products, so im kinda interested at testing one of their phones. Ive had Samsung and sony phones before too, so i like to switch it up a bit and see what all the companies got to offer, so i think its time for xiaomi to show me what they got. Ive looked on these ones so far, and it seems like they fit into all of my needs: https://www.mi-store.se/sv/mobiltelefoner/redmi-note-8t/redmi-note-8t-64gb-starscape-blue https://www.mi-store.se/sv/mobiltelefoner/redmi-note-8-pro/redmi-note-8-pro-64-gb-mineral-grey they got Type c, good camera, Extremly big battery, good and big screen, android 9 etc. (I should also notice that i dont really care if they dont got no headphone jack as i mostly use bluetooth, but it would be a + if it did have one just in case). But im not sure if i should go with the cheaper 8t or spend like 20$ more on the 8 pro. From the research ive done, they are mostly the same, other than size (like 1nm or somethin), the pro is a little bit faster and got a 500mAh bigger battery, it also got a 64mp rear camera compared to the 8t which got a 48mp. Ive watched a bunch of reviews too, and mostly everyone seems to be in love with it, for the price its selling for. One thing i dont like, is the rear camera placement on the pro version. It feels like they would be in the way, and would be much more comfortable with them on the side, like on the 8t. NOTICE: These are on sale rn too, so i get 11% off. So if im going to buy one, should buy it now or wait and see if the price goes down even more? Which one should i go for, or do you got some other examples?

So I've never had a real smartphone believe it or not. No, my name's not Ripley. I've used an iPod Touch for the longest time for music and I used an iPad mini for work for a few years. I've built my own computer, jailbroken the iPod, and am relatively familiar with these kinds of products, but there's clearly lots of differences between my experience and the experience that would be an Android. I'm switching because buying an iPhone is the technological equivalent of being a scientologist: sounds intersting being part of an exclusive group at first, but then you realize you're in way over your head, your pockets are empty, and you have basically nothing to show for it after a year. I used an iPod primarily for the experience of iTunes, and in not getting an iPhone, these are the things I need to have: Price < $400 Respectably high specs for longevity Some way to efficiently manage music. This may require some query into the audio forums, because syncing and whatnot generally requires two cooperating programs on each side of the operation, which may not be possible. At any rate, I'd like to not have to recopy my entire library every time I make minor changes, or have to remember what I changed so as to copy that specific section. At least the capacity to store 64 GB of data The ability to install/use a custom equalizer Headphone jack (obviously) Moderately respectable DAC/AMP (though this is much more difficult to measure, so I'm more lenient on this) The ability to put a case on the phone (not sure where I would go for obscure models) I feel confident in my ability to install custom firmware and root androids, but I'm completely unfamiliar with different variations of android and how firmwares interact with different hardware. I'm aware of certain incompatibilities, but how far they reach and to what extent I should learn about them is unknown to me, which scares me a bit. If you know some helpful tips or have links to resources about this topic, please share them. As far as specific models, I saw Linus' video on the pocophone (linked here) This seems like a wonderful choice, but I'm unsure about how something like that might fare with my attempts to enable a custom equalizer and music management. Maybe I'm just being ignorant and any android could manage these things perfectly. I don't know. I'm also not familiar with android's operating querks either, so any other recommendations are welcome. Thanks in advance for reading and contributing.)
