This thread is meant to show us your network layout. Some rules You must have a proper network diagram; Something made in Microsoft Visio, Gliffy (Free) or something similar. No all-in-one boxes; There is not much to show off if your network only has 1 networking device. It must be your own network; Don't try to impress by showing off a corporate network, we are looking for consumer networks I will start off with showing my home network Networks 0.x (Green, 0.0.0.0/0): This is the network directly from the modem, unfiltered. Settopboxes are set on a VLAN so they can communicate with my ISPs interactive services. 1.x (Blue, 172.16.0.0/12): This is our main network, all normal clients are connected via WiFi or on switch 1.2 and 1.3. 2.x (Orange, 192.168.0.0/16): This is our public network, everyone can connect to our public hotspot, but can't access our main network. Switches 0.1: TP-Link TL-SG3424 1.1: TP-Link TL-SG3424 1.2: TP-Link TL-SG2424 1.3: TP-Link TL-SG3210 2.1: TP-Link TL-SG3424 Gateways 1.1: Ubiquiti EdgeRouter ER-8, this one also does the DHCP for 1.x 2.1: Embedded system based on a APU1C4 running PFSense DHCP 2.1: Embedded system based on a APU1C4 running PFSenseDNS 1.1: Supermicro server running Windows Server 2012R2 1.2: Supermicro server running Windows Server 2012R2 2.1: Embedded system based on a APU1C4 running PFSense 2.2: Embedded system based on a APU1C4 running PFSense Portal 2.1: Supermicro server running Windows Server 2012R2 and acting as portal for our hotspotAccess points 1.1: Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC 1.2: Ubiquiti UniFi AP LR 1.3: Ubiquiti UniFi AP 2.1: Ubiquiti UniFi AP LR Servers: 1.1: Custom server running Minecraft with dedicated IP 1.2: ESXi running multiple VM's 1.3: Custom server running Windows Server 2012R2 and acting as a NAS

Hello I am posting this in hope to fix my keyboard layout. I have currently an US international layout on my keyboard and it worked fine up until a few weeks ago. Windows 10 seem to have suddenly desided that US international is no longer the same as before. It suddenly stoped reacting to the right alt on my keyboard for the special characters. It still detects the keys but it just doesn't do anything with them. I currently am using the mhu/micro symbol a lot which is supposed to be under the key combination m + right alt, but nothing happens when I type it. It also does not matter in which program I am working. I already tried changing the layout away from us international and back but still nothing. Does anyone know a possible solution for it? Already big thanks for reading my post :)

Long story short: my dad built a house and there are 3 apartments around for rent and all will be provided internet from the main house. There are 4 house that need to split the internet from the ISP and I dont know the properway to split it. The modem is set to bridge mode, do I just use a 5 port managed switch to split directly to each router in each house or should I use somthing like UDM Pro, VLANs and firewall rules to split the internet? I don't want to spy on the users from the aparments and just want to limit the speed to 100mb upload downlaod for each aparment.

Okay so im making a website, and i like to see what I'm doing, and that's pretty easy when developing for 1920x1080 but not when you want to make it responsive to for example mobile devices, because then i cant see what the fuck I'm doing. Can anybody give me some tips on how to see what I'm doing? because when i do it in the device toolbar of chrome it looks good in the resolutions i make but when my users visit the sites it looks different, and yes i upload the right things to public.html I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me how i can see what I'm doing, Thanks in advance! Hello everyone, I started this new topic since I gave back my G910 Logitech with romer G switches and a left set of functional keys (right after TAB, Caplock etc,), and started looking around for new options. For now I stick with my Logitech K120 (<10€) office keyboard that is more than enough for now and serves the purpose of reserve, so I have time to choose the next main keyboard. My current setup My personal laptop on the right, an old glorious MSI GE60, sitting with its bottom opened on a Cooler Master Notepal XL My working laptop on the left, a Thinkpad E480 sitting on a Cooler Master Notpeal 3, An AOC 24'' an AIMOS SWITCH HDMI KVM so that I can link main screen, mouse and keyboard on the "active" computer with a switch. My usual activity Coding: on a daily base I am (or try to be) an IT consultant: sometimes I code (python or C#), sometimes I use SQL so having stuff that allow you to do quick selections (like Ctrl+End) is handy, and I like having F5 and F10 separate from numeric keys Studying: I usually had to use R, Python and Latex so I was considering adopting left lateral keys for macros Typing I seldom use the right numeric keyboard to type special characters like "«" or "»" (ALT+0171/0187), "~" (ALT+196). I never could do this with the top line of numbers above the QWERTY zone. Gaming (sadly, not so much lately and not competitive) I don't have a powerful pc (maybe I'll be able to take a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro this year), but I don't have much time for games, so I seldom play at Warframe, Hades or MtG arena right now, Again I used the left lateral keys (G1, G2... G) for customized commands. Media control I liked to have volume control right on the keyboard, but I survived before My need is then for a keyboard that is robust, that allows to code, study and game, that can be linked to the switch so I can use it both from personal and work computer. Note: I also have the Logitech K780, that allows to switch between three BlueTooth devices, but I cannot connect it to my two pc at the same time (switching from one to another). My first initial look was towards the G915, since it's wireless, good looking, still has addressable RGB, and more modest lateral frame (I don't have much space) than the G910 used to have. Given the price though, I started considering smaller form factors: there's the option of G915 of the TKL, but I'd lose the left side buttons. I started looking at other keyboards, like the Glorious GMMK, YUNZII, KEYCHRON, VERMILO etc. Aside from the price (in certain cases it's too high, like the GMMK) I noticed that when you go for smaller sizes, there's almost no chance to have left side set of custom buttons. My questions I'd like to know: is there a layout like a 75% keyboard like this but with a left set of buttons like the G910? If not, what would you suggest to do? Are there "budget" solutions for left side numerical keypads that I can customize?

Hello, First very TL;DR version: I need help create stable home network in a big brick & concrete house (with basically no wood floors). I need advice about: - If the structure of the network makes sense - If three access points will be enough with the whole house coverage - If APs of my choosing are okay for the purpose of: Home Office for Data Analyst, Online teacher and one permanent gamer (my brother). The long version: Current status: (For this part, consult picture Ground_floor and Ground_floor_2D in attachments) Wife and I will be moving to my parents house where we will build floor for us and the current network is weak and shitty. The cable to modem/router goes under the floor from kitchen (around the biggy biggy hole) and that modem (provided by ISP) has to send signal across room full of furniture, and hallway towards living room, where is the extender, which already receives quite bad signal. That extended network is used by my dad in his Mancave, mainly for WhatsApp calls and sometimes by other members in the garden. So basically current status was okay(ish) for the past as brother was connected to modem directly by Ethernet and for some time fine with the Extender, but since whole house is made from Porotherm 30 bricks (mainly outside walls, inside they are different, but still pretty hefty) and a lot of concrete, for future purposes of working from home and especially in the first floor, it just cannot be used anymore. Even in the living room where is Smart TV and Kitchen, the WiFi quality just sucks. The whole range of the house is almost 20 * 16 metres. My plan: (For this part, consult picture First_floor and First_floor_2D and Network_structure in attachments) 1. There is still cable phone in the kitchen, so I would start with moving the modem in the kitchen, or most probably into the attic with cabling via the biggy biggy hole. Biggy biggy hole is essentialy non-metallic tubing leading inside the walls into the attic, where is TV antenna so there should be still additional place for some phone/ethernet cables. 2. From the modem I would lead ethernet cable to unmanaged switch (8 ports should be enough) and from switch into the 3x Access points and (in the future) NAS. Here I would stop by and ask, if the approximate location mentioned in the 2D plan would be enough, to cover whole 1st floor and the floor beneath. I will list the APs I was thinking about further below. I would put the APs into the ceiling of the first floor from the attic (needs to have PoE). The goal is to have covered full house as much as possible, except the "modem room" of brothers, where I could just get the ethernet cable directly as he doesn't have WiFi on desktop PC. The location of AP #1 will be used as an office so there has to be great coverage and couls be used also for my father, as he is not using too much of the data. Does this seems logical/okay for you? I've put the icons in green/yellowish color to see what is in plan, in comparison with pure black (which is current situation) - just to have the visual difference. 3. The APs that I was mainly looking for were Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-AC-LR (here I am not sure if the long range version is really needed). I need AP with Power over Ethernet as there is not many sockets in the attic. What else I would need for this? My guess is some kind of PSU for the ethernet cables? What should I be looking for? UniFi seems quite rabbit hole (in terms of money mainly, lol). I was looking into UniFi ecosystem because it seems user-friendly, although I don't have many issues playing with tech/scripting/settings (i like to do it I just need some push into specific direction). And my future plan also consists of having my small home media server. I appreciate any constructive feedback as I am doing this on my own and in near future. Because of the reconstruction we are also kind of limited with the money, that's why I've chosen only threee access points, but in case, I am fine with going up to 5 of them. I am not willing to sacrifice the middle of the house in terms of coverage since it's where people mostly will be. But the outer parts are really, really nice to have stable as well. The number of average clients connected to the network will be around 10 - 15 on average, 20 max. I also have 2 old routers-only which can be used in the outter parts, but I am not sure about their ability being an AP and if that would even work. WiFi5 is fine as most of the clients actually cannot connect to WiFi 6 (at least I think so). Old TV, old phones, mainly 2,4GHz. Only work laptops support 5GHz (which is fine for me.) Software used: SweetHome3D, Visio, Photoshop (for painting, lol). As I am self-learner in this field, please be nice to me, I am willing to learn but I need some guidance. This was written based on my experience and research I've done in the past week and LTT forum is first one I've registered for thanks to Linus team. Thank you in advance!

Hi guys, I was refilling my waterloop a couple of days ago. Everything was right so far and no water touched the electronics. When loading my OC profile back in, my pc went off and a sneaky beaky waterdrop, sitting right below the cooler was hopping onto the Mainboard like a killer ninja destroying a psu. Contacting Asus did result in some: "Go look on ebay... Maybe you´ll find a guy selling some parts from his mainboard! " Asking for the schematics or a bill of materials just got blocked of.. OK well... I understand that... I´m working as an PCB-Designer in a small company, so I´m pretty familiar with mainboards n stuff, but I dont´t know what kind of PSU is that, sitting right below the CPU (shown in picture)... I guess it is some kind of IO-Driver PSU for the PCIe and chipset lanes? I know, I could just get a new Mainboard on ebay for cheap, but I really put some time into that one, making it the way i want it. I.e. I cut down the socket to get the delid die guard installed on the 8700k; I have done some mods to the Vcore-PSUs; and I removed all the rgb stuff (don´t blame me! I don´t like rgb flashing around next to me while I´m working, thats all) What I´m looking for here is to gather some information about the layout of those boards, to get a better understanding of what might be potentially broken right now. You know... Its always better to know what you want to fix before u try to fix it... I already ordered a new board to use it as a source for replacement parts. Kind regards, Alex

Sometimes it happens that my folder changes its layout, how it sorts the files. Instead of sorting it normally alphabetically, it creates these pop-up trees that I can expand. Now it's in my download folder. There are several of these pop up menus and they show files from this week, last week, this month, etc. How to disable these trees in the download folder?

I Recently purchased the moonlander from ZSA and it arrives tomorrow which I am stoked about, I just know since I already type incorrectly not using home row I should really attempt to learn it properly. this being said I want to use a layout that would be good for shortcuts on both windows and linux and ideally Mac too since I swap between OS's all the time. eventually I wish to transfer from a usual desktop environment to a tiling window manager for productivity while programming. does anyone have any suggestions or is it wiser to just learn qwerty properly

Hey all I apologize right now for the noob questions, and the likely hood of some very stupid sentences. Im taking a few networking papers at uni, but there seems to be a lack of real world examples of networking, and we are getting alot more theory based work. Meaning I feel like I am missing out on some key points on designing a network and best ways of doing things. Im not sure if this is the best place to ask, so feel free to tell me off, or move to another section, but I have a example network in my head, and I was wondering if I could get some help understanding a few things. Firstly network design You have a public and private network, so guests can use the internet, but dont have access to internal servers and such there is also a management network which an admin can use to access routers / switches / servers etc and manage them, (security purposes in my head) and a security network with cameras, and / or other security devices. To me, you break this into different subnets and vlans, to keep all the traffic separate, for EG 192.168.10.x - Vlan 10 - Guest 192.168.20.x - Vlan 20 - Private 192.168.30.x - Vlan 30 - Security 192.168.40.x - Vlan 40 - Management Now from class, I know you put a router in at the top which you can use to route the networks to the internet, as well as each other, with security procedures in place EG. only authorized computers can access the security network to monitor it. and the guest network cant go back down into the private network. But this is where things get a little lost on me, and I could do with some discussion and clarifications. DHCP - To me there are 3 ways of doing this 1) Put a separate dhcp server on each network which serves only that network 2) Put one dhcp server with multiple NIC's (or virtual nics) serving all networks, as I know dhcp is offered based on the interface subnet it came from 3) Put one dhcp server on either the management network, or another "servers" network, and add DHCP helpers to the router to forward on dhcp requests. Which of these is better, and what are the pro's and cons of each. and is there another way of doing it which I dont know about. DNS - Similar sort of deal to the DHCP, (This is for internal dns, not external) Can you add one DNS server at the top, and do DNS forwarding, similar to the DHCP helper, and if so, how does it work or do you need to add a DNS server to each network, either a separate one per network, or one with multiple connections in and out. and finally, this is a thought I keep coming to when thinking about this all, and how it all works together Lets say I have a file server available on the network. I want the security network to access part of it to store surveillance footage on, part of it to be open to the private network for people to store files on, and part of it to be open to both the pubic and private network so a guest can drop a file on, and someone can access it from a internal pc. I know the easy and obvious option would be, just use 3 different file servers, but what if there is only space or budget for one large one. I know you can do the option of having multiple network cards, one per network, and setting up the file structure to bind to the interfaces. but doesn't that open up to security risks, having all three networks combining at that point. As well as this I keep going to the DNS for it. Say your internal network is abc.local. Your computers get named based off this. PC1.abc.local, printerA.abc.local and I assume your guest devices also get named, Guest1.abc.local If you give your file server files.abc.local, how does the dns work for it. if an internal pc accesses files.abc.local, it will look it up in the dns records and find 3 different ip's for it Guest, Internal and Security. Does it only return the one based on the IP from which the requst came, like DHCP does. or do you need to separate out the dns zones For eg internal.abc.local, security.abc.local, guest.abc.local So your devices will be named PC1.internal.abc.local, Cam1.security.abc.local, GuestLaptop.guest.abc.local and your file server will get Fileserver.internal.abc.local, fileserver.security..... etc Sorry if alot of this doesn't make sense, it doesnt to me and I feel like im making connections in how it works in my head, which don't work in the real world. Which is why im asking for some advice and clarifiation. Thanks in advance for any input Tom

Hey. I am looking for a new keyboard and while i want a shorter keyboard i don't want to sacrifice the numpad. So the Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro M RGB is a perfect representation of what i would want. But i want Cherry Blues. and individually lit RGB so i can color keys for which finger to use. (Learning to write with all fingers atm) I know they have RGB versions but without Blue switches. If you have experiance with this keyboard, how is it do press "Delete"? For example if you were to delete a file Shift+delete. Do you have to press a thrid button "FN" to do such on this keyboard? heres the layout. I'ts perfect, though as said i want Cherry Blues, Individually lit RGB and i want to know my options. Any inputs? If it can't be found on www.prisjakt.no there's 98% certain it's not available in my country, and import taxes are ridiculous. Thanks in advance

Hi, I work as IT in a small office and I'm really a newb at this. But because it is a really small office with my help their setup improved quite a bit (it was all WiFi before), however not as much as I would have intended (I'm guessing there is some bottle-necking). All PCs in the network have to hit the Server in order to access Word files and the server does some management. All wired connections are gigabit but speed is not the issue here. The problem is reliability sometimes network hangs when doing lets say internet browsing or accessing a file on the Server and if I try to access the router at those times it will not respond. My main guess is that the router just doesn't cut it, its a Cheapo TP-Link running DD-WRT. I was thinking of getting another router or maybe turning off WiFi and running the printers wired (it would suck because we need those printers shared and PC-agnostic). Well here is the graph its the first time I do something like this so please tell me if I'm completely wrong . Thanks in advance!

Qwerty, Dvorak, Colemak, or something else? While making this poll I am not expecting many people who have non-Qwerty keyboard layouts, but let's wait and watch. If you don't know what this is about, check out this Techquickie video by Taran.

I have 3 options 1. Three 24inch monitors mounted on the wall 2. One 27 inch monitor with 1ms 165hz (OC) flat like a Asus pg279Q or a LG27gl850 with two 24 inch monitors flat mounting on wall 3. One 38 inch monitor like the new LG38gl850 Nano_IPS 1ms 144hz Curver with two flat 24inch monitors mounting on wall I all ready have two 24 inch monitors (Acer kI24 and acer GN24bnbin) Just want a good looking setup with three monitors. I Just dont know how it looks when a 38 inch Curver monitor with 2 24 inch monitors FLAT Looks like. Or I.m to insane to choose a 38 inch monitor curved maybe IT doesn't look good because the other monitors are nog curved That why maybe a 27 inch flat monitor is fine because then with 1 27 inch monitor I have enough gaming experiece that is what I thing only because I dont know how it looks when a curved monitor is in the middle and on the two sides a flat monitor

Watching their last video (A $99 Laptop?! - Pinebook) I had an idea: a comparison between different keyboard's layouts trying to look for good and bad characteristics. It would be very subjective but at the same time I would find it curious. Maybe I'm not the only one not used to see different keyboard's formats. What do you think?

I recently built my first PC, and after about a month, my graphics card shorted out and stopped working. After getting an RMA, the replacement should be arriving today, and I want to avoid having the same thing happen again. I am wondering if it could have been an overheating problem? I did notice that my graphics card ran pretty hot (around 85 °C if I'm remembering right). Could it possibly be because of my fan layout? I have attached a picture to this post showing my current fan setup. I have three intake and two exhaust. I am unable to make the fan in the back an intake since it does not have a dust filter, so if I want three intake fans to make positive pressure I have to put an intake in one of the two top positions. Would it be better if I removed the top intake and just had two intake and two exhaust, or even removed both the top fans and only had two intake and one exhaust, or do I already have the best setup in place? Ideally, I want whatever change I make to provide more airflow to my GPU. I'm new to PC building, so I don't know what's best to go with. I would appreciate any advice.

So I want to begin streaming on twitch very soon, my question is how should I go about creating a stream layout/overlay? Is it easy enough to do on my own? Should I pay somebody who is experienced to do it for me? Any answers are appreciated

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well. I am new to the forum and this is my first post and topic. I am left with no options apart from asking you guys for help with this. The problem is that Windows 10 automatically and without apparent reason keeps adding US English language and keyboard layout to its keyboards. (See Capture 1 attached file) When in fact the only two languages I have installed/added are Bulgarian (my native and a layout I type in) and UK English (the display language) with International English layout (printed on my keyboard along with the Bulgarian alphabet). (See Capture 2 attached file) These two captures are taken within seconds from each other. The things I tried and didn't work: Resetting language settings, display language settings, keyboard layouts multiple times; Checking location settings (set to the UK as it actually is my location); Timezones and time formats settings; Any automatic BS that Windows 10 has; Obviously restating the computer (laptop); What fixes the problem temporarily is actually adding the already appearing as added language and layout in the settings from the second screenshot and then removing it straight after. After this the languages appearing in the pop-out thing from next to the clock go back to the ones I have actually added. Why this is a big issue: This bug is super frustrating as I constantly switch between the languages I type in (Alt+Shift if it matters) and instead of toggling between two options, I toggle between 3 or even 4 (as seen in Capture 1). So I can't reliably know which is my selected layout at the current moment and I end up typing in one language with the wring layout which ends up being something like this: "jdud éq jdud rph.eod udjf mrtkd kd /chd,iur ici dkh.rxiud u.dlrdjw,d" Awesome right? I have checked and this problem is not limited to me and the languages I use. I imagine a lot of bilingual people have to use more than one layout and switch between them. Worst of all is that some of the posts I found of people complaining from the same issue are from 2016 and no fix has been published or implemented in any of the numerous updates to the OS. Multiple fixes have been proposed in some of those forum threads but there seen to be no consensus of which (if any) work. Here are some links that I have found discussing this issue: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-10-keeps-adding-keyboard-layouts https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings/windows-keeps-automatically-adding-en-us-keyboard/69aaea0d-f588-4d54-89fa-a632ae7bced3?auth=1&page=1 https://superuser.com/questions/483086/how-do-i-remove-automatically-added-keyboard-layouts#484595 https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/8hle7x/windows_10_keeps_adding_keyboard_layouts_without/ https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1871102-windows-10-us-language-repeatedly-returns I am hoping that maybe with the power of this forum and the community and maybe eventually LMG, we can come with a solid reliable somution and/or even make Microsoft fix this stupid issue that seems to have existed forever now. Thank you, everyone and all the best! Ned

Just a cool idea... considering it myself here... I have a 1080 17.3" laptop and wanting to get some ideas on single additional display setups where the monitor is above the laptop with screen open... for instance, imagine your laptop is open with the screen up. And a 36" ultra wide above it. Would it be feasible/worth while? Anyone have any cool photos for ideas? I did a google search didn't find anything good where you're using a laptop monitor as part of your gaming setup. Only example I found and it doesn't fit what I was going for. My monitor would be mounted on wall and laptop directly below it.
