Hi! I i have a question for you guys! I was thinking of upgrading my system, but after reading a bit online, i think i can stick with cpu å bit longer. Im running: MSI x99a gaming 7 motherboard I7-5820k at 4.5ghz stable with 1.29v. Asus GTX-1080 Ram: Crucial 4x4GB 2133MHz (PC4-17000) DDR4 CL15 SR Im having some low fps when comparing to benchmarks on Internet, on WoW and BF1 for example. Up to 20fps Lower. Is my ram or cpu bottlenecking? Will i get a noticeable benefit if i spend å fortune on http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-rgb-32gb-4-x-8gb-ddr4-dram-3000mhz-c15-memory-kit-cmr32gx4m4c3000c15 Thanks in advance for Answers. Any tip on better ram upgrades or other upgrades worth the investment is appreciated:)

I have a gigabyte x99 ultra gaming rev 1.0. G.skills 4x8 32gb 3200mgz 850 watt evga It's been bad since I first got it 3 years ago. I've been having ram issues since day 1. Even with the QVL ram, my mobo wont boot with more than 2 ram sticks in it. It fails to even get into bios on it's own without a hard drive or data plugged it. I need to mash delete or it will reboot itself, naturally it used to go to bios. Now I has no idea what to do. I'm almost positive it's either ram or the mobo that's the problem. But at one time it did actually run with all 4 sticks! The ram is fine, the bios detects every stick when its singly installed But it's when pairing the ram that makes the computer not boot. I used the manufacture's model set up and it doesnt work. I requested another RMA for the third time! Most x99 mobos have bad reviews, and most of the reviews are about the ram failing. When I try to boot something, it will load into the gigabyte logo screen, spin the dotted circle for 5 seconds, then it freezes and the logo turns dimmer... and my keyboard rag shuts off, telling me basically that the computer is entirely frozen and USBs have disconnected. It also does the same thing when I try to load a ESU windows 10 flash drive to install windows on my SSD. I almost dont even want to search for another x99 mobo and spend more money, I feel like I should just buy a different CPU and mobo and try to sell my cpu $(100) as is. Does anyone gave a solution? It gets frozen here.. "UPDATE" I FIGURED IT OUT. I NEEDED TO BOOST THE DDR (RAM) VOLTAGE FOR THIS MOTHERBOARD TO REGISTER THE RAM. THERE WASN'T ENOUGH POWER. I'M RUNNING 1.3VOLTS ON 2600MHZ! ANYTHING LESS AND MY MOTHERBOARD RAM DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO GET TO BIOS!

After having to reset my CMOS(nothing to do with overclocking), my 4.5GHZ overclock on the i7-5820k has reset to default at 3.3GHZ. I was wondering if I should reapply the overclock, which come with obvious thermal impact, however, with what I use it this PC for I'm not sure if it's worth it; my main use is gaming (a few are CPU intensive) and occasional streaming, with work as well.

i have a water cooled i7-5820k and it never got higher than 49C so i am thinking of overclocking it but i am not sure what clock and voltage should i use my system has 600W evga 80 plus power brick and asus gtx 960 turbo 4GB and 16 GB of DDR4 ADATA ram and a gigabyte GA-X99-UD5 motherboard

I'm new to overclocking and would like to know if other people have this experience as well. My mobo is the MSI X99A GODLIKE GAMING and I overclocked my 5820k to 4.5MHz @ 1.3v, the DDR4 was overclocked to 2666MHz, and my gtx 980 ti is running around 1500MHz while both the cpu and gpu are cooled with AIO cooling and I used intel extreme tuning utility to stress test the cpu for about 9 hours. The temps only reached 66-67 c without any stability issues and never went higher, which is great, because that probably means I could push this chip further if I want to do that later. The overclock was noticeable on the PC. Things were working faster. The only problem I am having now is the boot up time has increased a lot before the overclock. Also a couple of times during booting I would get a black screen for a while before windows 10 finally loaded the login screen for me. When I run the system without overclock it boots up much faster and I don't have any issues. Has anyone ever come across something like this before? Thanks in advance!

Hi guys i am getting a i7-5820k and have a Corsair Spec-02 Case and was looking for a 120mm AIO Liquid Cooler or a Air Cooler that is less that 157mm in height. I plan to do a some overclocking to about 4ghz and need something that will keep it cool. If there is nothing decent it is possible for me to change case, and if i need to change case what is a good case for around $100 AUD. Thanks

Ok so I've been running my current cpu/ram/mobo combo for about 7 years now. It's time to step up. I'm currently running an i5 lynfield overclocked to 3.9 16gb ram and an asus p7p55d mobo. I'm looking at the i7-5820k haswell 6 core 3.3 ghz for a cpu and probably start back at 16gb of ram and move up from there if needed. Now the place where I'm running into debate is the motherboard. I've always liked Asus, their oc tools, their look, their performance/value/reliability. With that said I'm seeing alot of bad reviews for some of the x99 asus motherboards. Any recommendations from the group? I really don't care for crazy colors on my motherboards, I like muted motherboards if anything white or blue accents would look good. I'll be looking to change out my cooler as well as I'm running an h100 corsair. Thanks in advance. -Wiggles

I plan to upgrade my computer twice a year, once around august and once around December. Although this December i will want to spend most of my money on steam games (G2A). Hello guys! I currently own an i7-5820k on an ASUS X99-A Motherboard, i was wondering what the "safe" temps for my CPU? The CPU is watercooled with an AIO which is the CM Nepton 240M (NO OC) My temps are about 40C idle and 60-70 load, i would like to know what i can do what to decrease the temps. I'm looking to build a PC for video editing and also be able to stream my gameplay from my console to twitch. I'm not much of a PC guy so I don't know to much about CPU's and well I was leaning towards an i7-5820k because I feel like that's the better brand but now I'm thinking about the AMD FX-8350 only because it has 8 cores which I hear more cores are better for video editing. I can't really afford to buy a more expensive CPU than the i7-5820k, so I'm stuck between those two. So if anyone can help me determine which one is better for my PC needs or if anyone has another suggestion please let me know and thanks for the help.

Hello, I made this same thread on the Tom's Hardware forums and after a little bit more research I'd like to re-ask this question but on a different forum that way I don't get the same people. I am building a new system but I'm scared to buy a CPU to then be disappointed by my decision one month later. I'm mostly going to be gaming on it, I do 3D modeling and programming also, but don't worry about that too much. The i7-6700k looks far better for gaming, it smashes the i7-5820k in almost every game benchmark by 20-30FPS. I was told to get the i7-5820k for future proof reasons and also because of the 6 cores, but clearly those 6 cores don't mean too much when the 6700k has stronger singular cores. Benchmark I watched: Please help me decide. On the other side of the fence the i7-5820k is x99 which is a better platform but it's also more expensive. The motherboards for x99 are far more expensive then the i7-6700k's Could you guys also list a cheap but good for the MOBO you think I should get? Also a reason stating why I should get it. Thank you so much for reading, it means a lot. Edit: I'd also like to add that I've asked some of my friends on Steam and they all suggest i7-6700k.

hi, does anyone know which processor is better for OC between i7-5820k vs i7-5930k? I'm debating which one is better to use for OC assuming price is not an issue here. If price is not an issue what would you pick and why?

Guys cant decide which cpu to go for long run....... Which one should i go for and why? I will do some youtube videos ( noob editing etc..... ) Streaming and gaming mostly on 1440p probably

Hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of purchasing parts for a new high-end system, and I need advice on what power supply wattage is really necessary. I'm planning on running an i7-5820K overclocked, as well as an R9 390 and an R7 370 (virtualizing two Windows system off of one PC), one of them overclocked. I think I can get away with an 850 watt power supply, but should I be safe and get a 1 kilowatt unit? Another consideration is that I may wait till the end of summer 2016 to purchase a newer GPU (the new R9 400 series), which promises better power efficiency. That said, should I wait, keeping in mind HBM 2.0? Thanks, DAGGER51

Hello helpful forum members, I have been looking for some parts for my new pc and I could use some help, feedback and tips about my currently selected parts. Budget & Location I live in Europe (the netherlands to be precise) and I am willing to spend about €2.000 EUR (or about $2.200 USD). Parts - Intel i7-5820K boxed € 400,50 - Asus X99A/USB 3.1 € 272,80 - MSI GTX 970 4GB € 368,90 - Kingston hyperx fury black 2400 MHz € 112,90 - Cooler Master V850 € 149,70 - Be quiet! dark rock pro 3 € 79,80 - Samsung SM951 M.2 128 GB (will be the boot drive) € 119,80 - Western digital WD caviar green (3TB, for mass storage) € 103,70 - Corsair obsidian 750D € 157,90 Adding it all together it will cost €1.784,90 EUR or $1.982,20 USD I will also have an 1TB and a 500 MB hdd from my old system that i might mount in the new one. Aim I am planning on using this new pc as a workstation for school, playing some games and most likely also for coding and some photo/video editing. The games that I am planning on playing consist of all kinds of stuff, FPS's like Battlefield(4), RTS's like Company of heroes and a whole arsenal of indie games (that are not particulary demanding tough). Monitors I currently have one 1920x1080p monitor (at 60Hz), but this monitor is pretty dated so I am also planning to (altough not completely nessecary) buy a new monitor, this new monitor will still be a 1920x1080p monitor and I will then use the old monitor as a secondary screen. Peripherals I already have a good mouse, a decent keyboard and a set of speakers so that is of no concern. And depending on what pricetag the computer ends up with i might consider replacing my monitor as stated above. Why am I upgrading? My old system (an amd fx-6300 with a gtx650Ti) is, altough still decent, getting a little bit dated. This is mostly thanks to the gpu so I could just upgrade that but I think I might have some more benefit from a more powerful cpu as well. Also, my old computer will get passed on to my dad, so salvageing/reuseing more parts than the storage drives isn't possible. I hope I gave a clear description of what I want for my future pc and feedback is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I just finished upgrading my rig and I was wondering if I could put my 660 back in, since I have more PCI-E 16x slots. Would I have to install older drivers? (I'm on 347.52) Any complications? The reason I want to put it back in is because while my GTX 970 might be rendering a scene in blender, and I want my 660 to run the desktop (minimizing stutter on the desktop) or having both cards rendering a simple scene.

Hey Guys, This is my first set up and just wanted to know what you guys think. So the rig I want to make will be for video editing in mostly Adobe Programs (After Effects/Premier) with a bit of 3D work but not much. The idea of it is mostly future proof and to upgrade on the way so some of the stuff may seem off, like only 8Gb of ram for editing but i plan on getting more in the future (or maybe I should start out with more capacity DDR3 for now?). If theres anything you think I should spend a little extra now because it will save me for the long run or something i should get less of and can easily upgrade later let me know =D. Oh! and I will only be doing light gaming if any so if I the GPU i put is more than I need that would be good to know also (probably can save a lot of money there). Hoping it will last me a very long time. Thanks! Hey guys, I'm currently planning a new build and wanted to get other people's opinions on it. Here it is: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/88vY4D I designed this build with future graphics cards upgrades in mind. For this reason I chose an I7, enough power to keep me going for years to come. I also calculated that a 650w power supply should be enough for 2-way SLI if a wanted to go that route. My goal is to only have to upgrade the graphics card for the next 6-8 years (and maybe adding some storage). I'll probably wait for Pascal's release but for now I chose the GTX 970. The 120gb SSD should be enough space for me, I currently use a 120gb SSD in my laptop on which I store everything (OS, personal files, chrome, steam etc.) except my games and I'm using less than 40gb. Any suggestions/comments are welcome! Marekjdj

Hi, I just changed my motherboard and RAM, and my PC worked well for a while, but at some point, in Gta V, which worked perfectly (90fps) and X-plane 11(30fps), started lagging MASSIVELY. I took away the overclock but it didn't help... I lowered the graphics settings in the game to low, but nothing changed; the lags continued. I had some blue screens (WHEA_uncorrectable_error) and yeah. i would love to play and these lags are just making me crazy Does anyone know what I should do? I would love to give you more information, I just don't know what else to write :).
