Summary Some Powercolor Red Devil 7900XTX suffers from high temp (including, in usual fashion, hotspot temp), further investigation from Igor (IgorsLab) discovers that the card was having a temperature issue due to QC issues related to the cooler mounting and thermal paste application from the factory (Image from IgorsLab). Powercolor already contacted IgorsLab regarding the issue and telling users affected by this issue to contact Powercolor but so far no announcements made on their social platform Quotes My thoughts 7900XTX seems can't take a break from QC issues. While to be fair this is a fairly easy fix, not everyone would want to teardown their 7900XTX or even have the know how to do the teardown, yeah maybe just a small percentage of them but still, it's frustrating to know your finished build have to be disassembled (well, the gpu have to be disassembled) because while gaming the temps were not great and the bad news is that they don't quickly announced the issue so you have to make a guess on what's actually going on with your card until someone tells you or you dig deeper to know it's a thermal paste/ cooler mount issue, which on a card like 7900XTX especially on their 3rd party model you'd think it's going to be good out of box, but no you have to go through (maybe) half an hour of disassembly to repaste and remount it, or if you live in a region where warranty void if removed stickers actually does what it says if the RMA peeps sees that it's broken or peeled, you have to bring it for RMA and wait for a few days, maybe a week worst case. So yeah, basically for any Radeon card makers: 7000 series, bare chiplet cards, not a bare monolithic. Don't forget to spread it even and correctly cover the entire die. It's not a Ryzen CPU where you can just do X four dot pattern and call it a day. And please, if there's any of this problems and you acknowledge it, immediately announce it to the public with clear detail so people know what to do if they are affected. So I just had this random thought in my head. And I'm thinking it wouldn't much help, but, if I can use a ethernet adaptor to typc-c then plug that into my ethernet port on PC, would that potentially stabilize some of the hotspots speeds? Kind of a stupid question, but I'm wondering if it would genuinely help.

Been playing lately games with mostly almost max graphics settings and i noticed on HWINFO that my GPU hotspot sometimes is between 85ºC and 95+ºC (Mostly the later, just then i play games with demanding graphics settings), while the GPU temperature never goes up from 75ºC/78ºC. (This is mostly when i play Planetside 2 [the game i play the most] with max graphic settings) Is something wrong and i need to repaste/replace the gpu dye/memory pads? Also, this is while the fans are at 100% (3000 RPM), because the fan speeds without manually being put at 100% are horrible and wont go above 50% even while the GPU hotspot is 95+ºC. If you want, i can do a gaming session and post an image with the temps (And i think i will need to do it but idk how this works, im just asking this stuff because im worried that the GPU might being damaged) Links to my PC components (Just in case someone asks/Its needed): Case: https://www.msi.com/PC-Case/MAG-FORGE-100M CPU: https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-5-5600x CPU Cooler: https://www.deepcool.com/products/Cooling/cpuaircoolers/Assassin-IV-Premium-CPU-Air-Cooler-1700-AM5/2023/17129.shtml GPU: https://www.zotac.com/product/graphics_card/zotac-gaming-geforce-rtx-3060-twin-edge RAM: https://www.corsair.com/es/es/p/memory/cmk32gx4m2e3200c16/vengeancea-lpx-32gb-2-x-16gb-ddr4-dram-3200mhz-c16-memory-kit-black-cmk32gx4m2e3200c16 PSU: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/psu/cp-9020195-na/rm-series-rm750-750-watt-80-plus-gold-certified-fully-modular-psu-cp-9020195-na Motherboard: https://www.gigabyte.com/ar/Motherboard/B550-AORUS-ELITE-AX-V2-rev-10#kf Storage: https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/memory-storage/solid-state-drives/980-pro-pcie-4-0-nvme-ssd-1tb-mz-v8p1t0b-am/

Hey, This is my first post here so please bear with me I have an issue with my MSI Ventus RTX4070ti. It was placed in a Inter-Tech Infinity 608 case and had some artifacts when it reached 72 degrees celcius. So to eliminate heat being an issue I went a bit overboard. I've ordered myself a Tower 500 from Thermaltake which has 2 120mm fans on the back and I placed a total of 5 140mm fans and 3 120 mm fans extra in the system. The system is swarming in space and when the fans start spanning at 100% it actually gets cold in the entire room. In the Tower 500 there are 3 fans of 120mm at the bottom (which required a bit modding) taking fresh air in. 2 fans of 140mm are seated above it making the air being distributed to the rest of the case. Then 1 fan of 140mm is mounted vertically exhausting air to the right out of the case. On the top of the case are 2 140mm fans exhausting air out of the case and on the bakplaten we have another 2 fans of 140mm (which came with the Tower 500) exhausting air to the back. I've added a pic to make it a bit more clear except the 2 fans on the backplate (behind the mainboard) which are not visible but as mentioned earlier are also exhausting air. Seems cool right? Well not really. When running Furmark the temperature got to a staggering 85 degrees C with an hotspot on the die of over 100 degrees. That's roughly 13 degrees more than in my previous claustrophobic Inter-tech case. What am I missing here? Does any1 have any pointers. Thanks for your time

Hey! so im trying to set up my windows hotspot to play my oculus quest via air link. My only error is a weak signal from my hotspot. Even on my phone my windows hotspot has 1 bar of signal, the antenna is about 60cm away from me. I cant find anything online as google it only brings up weak signal issues between a router and a pc. Anyone got any ideas? Ive reinstalled drivers, reinstalled the antenna into the pci card... got no idea. Its an ax200 wifi card from Aorus, GC-WBAX200

I have an RX 6950xt, the power color red devil edition. The difference in my edge and hotspot temps are above 30 degrees C. To help with that I was thinking about switching from the stock tim to carbonaut. I'm ok with the potentially worse edge temp if my hotspot goes down. So for example even if my edge temp goes up 10 degrees of my hotspot drops 15 I'll be cool with it. My question here is: Is it with it to try carbonaut or should I just go straight to something like kryonaut or other high end thermal paste. Almost forgot that I briefly (like a week) had 6900xt red devil that I did replace the paste on but it didn't really work

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask, but I'll try anyways. Here's a problem I have been facing for quite a few days Whenever I try to use my mobile hotspot from my windows laptop, it produces some weird results. - Windows appends a number "2" to the hotspot name when it displays it. - Windows says it is connected to the hotspot and shows the full signal strength symbol - My phone says that there are no devices connected - On my laptop, I can access only some sites. For example Google stuff and YouTube work perfectly normally. But stuff like GitHub and a few others don't. I do not lnow of any distinguishing features between these sites - My photoshop randomly asks me to save my file before quitting, in the middle of my work. There is no option to cancel, only "save" and "don't save" [image for reference](https://i.imgur.com/OrFOh57.jpg) All of these are limited to windows, and I have not encountered any of them on Linux (dual booted on the same laptop). Also no issues like these occur at all when I am connected to the house WiFi. ### Details: Laptop - Asus vivobook X510U, intel i5-8250u Intel dual band wireless AC 8265 Windows 10 v1909 Linux- Pop OS 20.04 Mobile- Samsung galaxy m30s Android 10, oneUI 2.0

I am looking to as cheaply and reliably setup home network. I am very novice at this stuff but can follow instructions well. We recently upgraded from crap verizon dsl to Verizon wireless lte home. They sent us a cellular modem/router. It keeps stopping every couple hours and we reboot to work a couple more rinse repeat. We called and are sending new unit. Hopefully that will work. There is also an xfinitywifi hotspot nearby that we can use but it is a weak signal. My laptop and kindle tablet can see it but cellphones don't from inside. I am looking for best solution to have an independent home router that is ethernet to verizon modem/router and wirelessly to xfinitywifi hotspot as either bond or failover as well as hopefully also have usb to connect external drive with plex media server to share video and music over home network. If I need more than one device to accomplish this that is fine but biggest issue is cost and second issue being cumbersome. But cumbersome is just inconvenient where cost is a big factor. Ps. I have more than one external drive so if I could use a USB hub to connect and share them all or a better solution would be great.

Hello, I own a Palit RTX 3060 TI DUAL OC LHR When i game the gpu hovers somewhere between 70-77 C Hotspot goes between 86-90 C Max supported tem according to Nvidia is 93 (does not mention where: core? hotspot? ) Should I be worried? Do i need to underclock/undervolt my gpu so it won't die early ?

I noticed that my gpu hotspot seems pretty high after playing Apex Legends for about 20-30 minutes. I recently bought a RX 6600 XT so it's not a dust problem and neither is an airflow problem as my case has 4 fans and a mesh front panel. I will attach a screenshot from GPU-Z with the max values recorded from the sensors and a picture of my build. I'll just summarize my situation; I am in Turkey, Istanbul and the phone i have with me, i bought from another country The registration fees, for the registering the phone to the Turkish Cellular Network, is insanely high ! therefore i am looking to buy a very, very cheap phone which i can use with my Turkish Sim card What i need : Wi-Fi 4G ( for cellular internet connectivity, when i don't have access to Wi-Fi ) Wi-Fi Hotspot capability ( so i can tether the internet to my main phone if i need it ) Can anyone suggest any options ? I am a student here and i have to watch my finances very carefully , which is why it is imperative that the phone be as cheap as possible i would be grateful for any relevant suggestions or guidance !

Hi, i got pc auto restart problem recently when playing games that graphics demanding.. my gpu is RTX 2070.. i thought the game itself was causing problem but, then when i play other game, same thing happens.. i checked the gpu and cpu temp all still in the 60s°C.. max is 63°C.. once i checked my GPU fan and it's not spinning, even when gpu core fans rise above 60.. i thought my gpu fans dead.. but when i set manual speed on geforce experience performance setting, it spinning normally.. try to game again, and the problem persists.. the pc auto restart just minutes into the game while gpu and cpu temp still on 60s.. then i realized the gpu hotspot temperature is higher.. and slightly after it reach 80, the pc auto restart.. in geforce experience performance setting, the temp limit is 81°C.. so i guess it's what causing the restart.. the gpu driver didn't differentiate hotspot temp and gpu core temp and just forcing restart.. i try to confirm this by opening my side panel and put 50w desk fan there.. i can run games just fine.. no auto restart happens.. so, is there a way to differentiate temperature threshold limit for gpu? never got this problem before.. I thought the update gpu driver causing this..

I recently got a new motherboard after my previous one unfortunately met an untimely end. However, after installing and updating the most recent LAN drivers listed on MSI's driver page, I keep running into a kernel_mode_trap BSOD when I go to turn off the mobile hotspot application. This is because I intended to use my PC's WiFi connection for my phone so as to save on data usage. However, after about an hour or so, my phone gets disconnected from the mobile hotspot, and disabling/re-enabling my phone's WiFi connection does not resolve the issue, and it no longer sees my PC's hotspot. The next logical step is to turn off the PC's hotspot, but that's when it BSOD's. I was able to locate another thread submitted last year that was experiencing the exact same issues from two other people, both using the same setup I was AND the OP listed their MoBo which is exactly the same brand and model line that I have. Between the OP's specs and mine, the only similarity between our builds is our MoBo. We're all using an ethernet/hardline connection to our Router while attempting to use our PC's mobile hotspot feature. I'm trying to figure out if this is an MSI issue or an Intel WiFi issue, or a limitation of the communication between the ethernet connector and the WiFi adapter. Any help would be awesome. Greetings LTT forums. I have an issue I've been trying to trouble shoot and I have a few theories but was hoping to run it across the forums form additional thoughts. I have the card mentioned in the title paired with a 5950x in a single custom loop with a 420.mm rad. Overall the 420mm is not enough radiator to satisfy my thermal goals and I intend to rectify this situation. However, due to mounting options in my case I'm still searching for an appropriate solution. None of this is relevant for my question but perhaps necessary to set the stage of the uses case. So the EVGA precision X1 software provides very robust thermal monitoring, providing feedback from what appears to be 10 sensors. However, HWinfo64 displays data for something it calls "hotspot". This hotspot sensor routinely reaches 80c+ and will trigger thermal throttling for the card. While doing so, the gpu core temp, and all other vital thermal values seem to stay in check. I have made the assumption that this reading is being taken form the memory modules located on the back of the card. I reach this conclusion simply because the precision x1 software does not seem to display this data on its cute little diagram. The Card has been fitted with an EKWB Vector water block and great care was taken to mount it in accordance with both the manual and common sense but I am not ruling out a bad mount. The backplate offered from EKWB is trash and actually serves to insulate the card, resulting in worse than stock performance. EVGA provided a much better backplate. I have seen many diy and a few consumer options for cooling the back of the card and have ordered the 'active' backplate offering from EKWB. After 3 months of waiting for EK, the part should now arrive in September of this year. In the meantime I have used raspberry pi aluminum heatsinks on the modules and nested a noctua 140 against the back of the card. This effort of home made back cooling may not be up the the task? If my hotspot readings are coming from the rear mounted memory the stopgap has failed?! I'm reasonably stumped on this issue and would love to have a gpu that does not thermal throttle under normal gaming use. As a possible caveat to this, I should add that the card only exhibits this behavior during gaming, and not during GPU rendering. It also also runs retardedly hot mining Ethereum, at least for the 10 min or so I messed with that. I'll attach some pics and relevant links for those who prefer visual stimulation, thanks so much for your attention to this matter build link: https://builds.gg/builds/dailey-driver-2021-32530 please note that the build link depicts several iterations (pics) of this build including some hardware that is no longer is use. The description and parts list is current though

Just downloaded latest version and now my card suddenly has a "hotspot" temperature… (Gigabyte 3070 Vision OC) Just wondering how accurate this is since GPUz overall seems pretty sketchy (like it tells me my card is running at PCIE gen 4 speeds when that is physically impossible because b350m doesn't support PCIE gen 4 speeds) Does 10C "hotspot" temp over normal temp seem accurate? (ex 66.5 / 78.9) Or should i put some ice on it?

Hello, I'm here because I have two questions/ potential issues : I've discovered the new hotspot feature of GPU-Z. While gaming, with only the factory OC available from Asus ("Gaming mode"), I reach easily more than 100°C. It's more than a 20-25°C delta, where I've seen most people report more like 10-12°C. I'm worried. Is there potentially an issue with the cooler mounting ? For the longest time my GPU was dead silent. For a while now, I've been hearing the GPU's fan ramp up and down and it's starting to become very very annoying. Any link with the issue above ? I've seen that at the second I reach 80°C, no matter where the fans are, I think that they jump to 100%. Sometimes it's only one of them, sometimes both (it's three fans actually reported as 2 in GPU-Z).

hotspot 5G Mobile hotspot from Strict NAT to Open NAT? Pc Gaming.
Hudayfah posted a topic in Networking
So I have Unlimited 5G data on my phone which I use as hotspot for everything on pc including downloading games. If I use the Google Speed Test it shows 70mbps Down and 50mbps Up and only 5ms ping. It's not the full blown 5G as it's not officially available in my area yet but some days I can get up to 120mbps Down and 70mbps Up. So it's really great especially when I game on my top spec portable Gaming Laptop (10k Time Spy). The only problem I have is on many online games I get a message upon loading about my network being on Strict NAT mentioning that multiplayer experience may be affected. Now as mentioned above with unlimited data at my speeds I've also already set my connection as unmetered due to having no data limit I'm not in need of any restrictions. The reason I use my mobile hotspot is because my WiFi router is too far (2 floors away on the other end of house) and unusable (0-1 bars) on which if in good range I can get up to 215mbps Down and 20mbps Up. (So my question is, How do I change my connection to a Open NAT from being Strict NAT while connected to my mobile hotspot for even better online gameplay? Without spending any extra money) -

Hi, long time account here, never really commented much so go easy. I have been using a Samsung Tab S4 4g as my home internet solution for a while (it's also been slaved into our home theatre setup- but that hack is another story) We move around too much to make any kind of fixed line effective. It does a fine job except when we have guests and then too many connections make the whole network slow down even if they aren't using the net. Now our mobile service has upgraded to 5g so figure it's time for an upgrade in the hotspot source. Looking at budget friendly 5g tablets and phones to fill the role as my work will buy a new one up to 500 Canadian equivalent $$s (and they won't go in for a hotspot). In need of the LTT community help on finding a good one as most reviews don't rank how good a phone/tablet is as a hotspot. Thanks in advance

Hi, I have problem that just appeared few days ago. When I turn hotspot in windows on, It works perfectly on my phone but internet doesn't work on desktop at the same time. When I turn hotspot off, internet on desktop works again. Where can the issue be? It worked perfectly few days ago and I didn't change or install anything. The only thing I do to turn my hotspot on is by a macro, because of an issue with asus wifi card ax200 160mhz -> from this video Thanks for helping

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum stuff as I rarely encounter issues with the stuff I use. But as the tittle states my MacBook Pro 13" keeps dropping out of my phones hotspot. When I say drop out, I connect it and drops out after around 5 seconds consistently, this also happens at home and at Uni over WiFi resulting in me solving the issue by using a Ethernet to thunderbolt but this solution only works at home. Needless to say this has gotten on my nerves quite considerably. My phone is a iPhone 12 mini so it is new and when I hotspot it works perfectly for my iPad and Switch with no dropping out. I have restarted my MacBook multiple times and made sure to keep it up to date, same goes with my phone. The hotspot does work when my phone is plugged into my laptop but this isn't always convenient particularly when I am on the move. The MacBook Pro 13inch is a late 2018 model with other issues that keep coming up (like overheating with just a single word document, and show lighting on the screen) so I don't know if it is do do with age or if the WiFi card is on it's last legs. Any advice would by very appreciated as I do need this for my education.

Noticed today my performance in Destiny 2 was absoloutely dismal (1440p, high, not max settings) so i decided to check and my gpu was throttling like crazy. I decided to restart my pc, didnt help. Ran some tests with my gpu fans maxed out, 100%, 3500ish rpm. (unigine superposition, 1080-extreme i got a score of 8750 at the best. I went from 150ish fps to maybe 45-60 walking around the tower in destiny) As soon as any real load (walking around in destiny/gta/benchmarking) was applied the GPU hotspot temp shot up to abt 105c, and it would throttle to abt 700MHz then boost up once it cooled down and within 1-2 seconds of boosting up it would begin to throttle down and wouldnt begin to drop in temp until abt. a 700MHz clock speed) OK not good I tried under-volting it all the way down to 825mV. (at 800mV pc crashed but its stable at 825mV) Didnt help either, so i tried underclocking, limiting power draw and undervolting, still didnt help, 105c instantly. (all testing was with fans at 100%) Im honestly lost for words I havent changed anything about the pc, its never been overclocked, never mined on it and now i can barely run any games. ANY AND ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!<3
