I'm trying to copy 1TB or folders and files from a 1 Terabyte HDD drive to a 2 Terabyte SSD drive. Is their a command or software bypass the 'file found, copy over, skip' and force it to always SKIP if the file is both Older and Smaller? I'm trying not to babysit the copying is my purpose, maybe some of you can relate? Also is their an online simulator that can do a quickscan of both drives to make a calculated estimate of the time it would take AND what is the most efficient way to transfer files, all at once or in smaller sections like 100GB, 300GB at a time? Thanks for reading and any help you have.

So I built my PC and made the mistake of assuming a HDD would be good enough and soon found out it wasn't. I've just installed a SSD and cloned my boot HDD (C) drive and tried to follow instructions on making the SSD as the boot drive but in my bios it says that my m.2 ssd is the windows boot manager(it couldn't be, it's too slow...) I tried to boot from the new SSD but it brought up the screen as shown below. My C drive is the HDD, doesn't that mean it's the boot drive and after cloning etc shouldn't I be able to boot from the SSD? Any help would be appreciated. If you could give simple step by step guides on how to fix it, that would be a bonus.. (I'm autistic and need things simple.. thanks.

I am cloning my boot HDD to a new SSD, from what I can see you have to pay to clone partitions and can only clone disk for free. Can I clone the disk and then install Windows on the SSD from a USB and then put in my product key? And then format the HDD as a back up drive. Would this cause any issues etc? Thanks

How can you transfer them? in the past someone already mention it Please note that there is No login of Windows on the pc. Thanks

I have a 1TB hdd in my laptop and I'll be upgrading to a 275GB ssd. The problem is that I only have a single partition on the hdd and it has almost 600GB of total data. What should be the best course of action for me considering that I plan to use the ssd primarily as a Windows boot drive. I don't have any problem reinstalling the softwares

Hello, so first of all, I just joined the forum today! Yay So going straight to the point (so as to not waste anyone's time), I am currently on this rig:- ================================== Motherboard: ASUS P8B75 M/CSM (LGA-1155) CPU: i7-3770 (non-K) RAM: DDR3 1600Mhz 16GB OS: Windows 8.1 (on a 2TB SATA HDD) ================================== Long story short, I got a fantastic deal for a completely new system, which are:- ================================== Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z390 M CPU: i7-8700 RAM: DDR4 3200MHz 16GB (G.Skill Trident Z RGB) SSD: M.2 2280 480GB (ADATA XPG SX8200) ================================== For a total of about USD$700 (with the CPU being the most expensive of course.. Sigh). Hence, is my current problem: After reading around the net, I do understand that I need a fresh new installation of windows 8.1 onto my new SSD (due to a completely different motherboard and CPU, so OS migration technique using software like 'easeus' for example, will not be possible) and I have no problem whatsoever for installing the new windows 8.1 on my new SSD. However, I plan to use the HDD as well because all of my games (Steam and non-steam) are located there. Therefore, what will happen to the old Windows 8.1 OS residing in that HDD? Reading somewhere on the internet, a user mentioned that the partition for the C:/ drive where the OS resides will change into something like D:/ and that's definitely a problem because my games are in that partition. So my first few questions; (1) Would the two partition merge together to become a new D:/ ? Can I delete the old OS files there? (2) What about the non-OS-related files, software and apps in my old C:/ drive? Can it still be used like normal? Do I need to migrate them over to the new C:/ drive on the SSD (like copy paste)? (3) Would my games (non-steam) inside the D:/ needs to be reinstalled or would they work like normal? (I do know however, that I need to reinstall all the redistributables because it's a fresh OS..) (4) I have my Steam and its folders installed on the old HDD under D:/ drive as well, so do I need to reinstall it? (5) Do I need to know anything else that you think might be crucial? To answer some possible questions that you guys may be wondering; (1) Why am I using Windows 8.1? Short answer is, I just prefer it over windows 10, nothing more, nothing less (albeit with some reasons of course.). (2) What GPU am I using? Currently, a GTX 1060 (6GB), and yes it's a mid range GPU, but I will save up some more money to buy the RTX 2080Ti in the near future (I like that massive VRAM for reasons below) (3) Why such a major upgrade? Due to my compulsive behavior of modding Skyrim SE (yes, this single game turned modding into a passionate hobby of mine lol). PS: My new PC parts hasn't arrived yet (somewhere 6th of October because I just ordered it yesterday.) Edit: I am planning to move Skyrim and the mods to the SSD for obvious reason lol (to speed things up, hopefully the FPS as well, but am not hopeful on that part because I need a new GPU with large VRAM)

This was a quick weekend build with a old HP desktop laying around. Intended as a placeholder google docs machine and future media/network backup machine, as well as a 2nDairy (Secondary) gaming machine for cheap. My laptop is being repaired for several weeks so I need something to transfer written class notes while it's away. Here is a quick benchmark: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/19606825 All in all I've put in this build Total: $127 USD (this weekend) +~$60 for parts laying around YMMV Base build $0 (was laying around unused) HP Pavilion Slimline s5623w (Comes with 3GB DDR2 [1gb + 2gb]) (working DVD burner) (CPU Cooler for 95W) (originally Sempron 140) (motherboard M2N68-LA (Narra5)) ATX Case $20 - XPS Dell case (used private sale) Power Supply new EVGA 600W (laying around, bought at Best buy several years ago for $25ish?) CPU $15 Phenom 8650 CPU (used private sale) $40 EVGA GTX 680 SSD (used private sale) $24 PNY 120 Gb SSD (best buy) Thermal Compound (bestbuy) $8 Gas from going everywhere (California, sub $4 per gal) $20 (180 miles/ 40ish per gal [motorcycle lyfe]) Upgraded to win7 from the OG HDD and used the Key to load it onto the new SSD (PNY from bestbuy) That made the biggest immediate difference I haven't seen before today with anything. In Sacramento area, got the 680 & CPU & Case locally used. FB & Craigslist. Both parts within 12 hours from search to purchase. Planning on finding a Phenom II X4 940 to upgrade the bottlenecking 8650 in it rn. Should be roughly $25 used but if I don't well this is perfect as a working office like machine. Currently running my LG 27UK600W (4k monitor I got used for $180) with it just fine for videos and such. I'm happy with how quick and easy this was. You can do it too! Any questions or if you want pictures just ask. Can run other benchmarks on request. Enjoy!

So i have a new SSD. After a massive cloning failure i used the Win tool made a clean installation of Win 10 and i wonna keep my settings and info (profiles, passwords, customization) i don't feel like setting every thing up again. My first problem is the activation key, I'm pretty sure that if i use my existing one it'll say it's being used, so is there a folder that saves user settings, preferences, customization etc. that i could replace with my old one from the HDD that will carry all of it? If not what are my oprions on switching Only the Oc and the apps that i want to the ssd.

Hello everyone! I'm moving the operating system on my laptop using paragon drive copy. I was dual booting ubuntu and windows 10 and I deleted the ubuntu partitions. I had more than I could remember what where they for, I deleted swap and the ubuntu regular partition but I'm left with two 1000mb partition that appear as OEM reserved and I cant delete them in the windows tools. And When I turn on the pc I stil get some GRUB screen that just allows me to use commands, When I press escape it prompts me to the boot menu to choose the windows bootloader, how do I remove the linux partition and the GRUB(im guessing the reserved partitions have the grub thing). Also I copied perfectly with paragon my OS drive to the SSD and everything looks fine but the pc doesnt recognize the option to boot from the SSD. Even in the bios it knows it has an SSD because its listed but in the boot menu I just have the HDD option. I'm going to update the bios because it seems that its a little limited bios from lenovo but if you know something about this I appreciate any info or opinion!.

First of all, I am new here and I know there is probably a better place to post this, but I didn't see it. So, I have an Asus Rog g750jw with 8gb ram 1tb hdd 5400rpm 4-core i7-4700 Nvidia 765m 2gb vram I have been living with it since I bought it in 2013 or 14 and it was never the best machine. The design was about a year old when I got it and my specific machine was used (bestbuy refurb, i was told a guy just brought it back cause his wife didn't like it). I thought it was slow compared to our family PC with Pentium and 6gb ram, but didn't return it. I just ended up buying an ssd last night to make into a boot drive as I have heard it will make it WAY faster. Also considering a ram upgrade to 16 or 24gb. (It has 2 4gb stocks with two more open slots and maxes out at 32gb) What I need to know is, as a man who knows nothing about systens or anything like that, is it worth going to geek squad or staples to have this installed? Or is there somewhere that can tell me how to do it myself. Also, any ideas about whether I need more than 16gb of ram are welcome. I use the computer for gaming, but it is not my daily driver.

I recently bought a ssd and wanted to make it my primary drive. As this is the first time that i'm attempting to do this I wanted to do some research. However, when I was looking up how do this I thought i might have a problem as my copy of windows 10 was obtained from upgrading from 8.1. So are my fears unwarranted or have there been any known problems with this?

So I'm planning on transferring my OS over to my ssd from my hdds and I am stuck on what files I need to move over to my external hard drive to I can transfer my OS. Because I was informed that I can just move my OS over to my ssd with out losing data, settings or reinstalling games and stuff my just moving my files over to an external then transferring my OS over but I'm not quite sure how to do that and what files I need to move over. Any help would be very appreciated. If I don't respond with in like 20-30 mins then I might be in class and I apologize a head of time. Thanks a bunch.

Hi all, I'm getting an SSD shortly after Christmas and to take advantage of it I'm wanting to put Win 7 on it. I was wondering is there a (decent) way of transferring my current Win 7 off my HDD to SSD? Or are things like that more hassle than it's worth, and formatting my old drive and doing a fresh install on the SSD the way to go? One thing probably worth noting is my current drive has more data on it than the capacity of my new SSD, as in Win 7 files; Steam + games etc... So I'm not wanting to transfer the entire thing; literally just the OS. Thanks in advance. EDIT: letters

Hey, I'm going to be building a new computer soon and I'm on a budget. So what i've decided to do is buy a 1tb hard drive for when I initially build my computer and then upgrade to an SSD when I have the money. I know that i'll have to install windows to my hard drive, but when I decide to buy the SSD to put into my system, can I transfer just the OS to the SSD? I saw the data migration video on NCIXcom's channel and it mentioned how you could clone your existing HDD to your new Intel SSD. My question is, does your SSD have to be an Intel SSD in order to transfer your OS and do you have to clone the entire drive? I was hoping I could just clone/transfer the OS and some programmes like the adobe CC suite and maybe some games etc for faster loading times. Thanks , Blueprint

So a friend asked me to check his laptop because it wouldn't start. Problem was when you turn it on it would say windows had a problem and it needed to restart, then windows repair would go in a loop. I tried to fixed it with a Win8 intallation disk but since I couldn't enter the BIOS to start from the ODD that didn't work, so I took the HDD out, did a benchmark with HD Tune and sometimes it would suddenly go down from 90 to 50MB/s and back to 90 in no specific location of the disk (it's a 500GB HDD), other times it was just fine. I have a 1TB and a 3 TB HDD and benchmarked both none of them had this problem so I guess is not my PC. In the healt section of HD Tune it says there's 8 unallocated sectors and when scanning for errors it found an error at around the 45 GB mark. I decided to format the disk and install Windows again... but I benchmarked it before installing Windows aaaaand that thing happend I ran the test 3 times and everytime it was almost the same, average over 150 MB/s, 300MB/s+ max transfer rate... if not for the spikes it would be like an SSD (not really sure, I can't remember my SSD benchmark)... Soooo there... after intalling Windows again it stop being a super fast HDD and instead behaves in a normal way except now at around 450GB it suddenly goes down to 50MB/s then back to 60 (did the benchmark 3 times happend everytime) the unallocated sectors are still there and scanning for error still gets an error around the 45GB mark... Soooo... Is it broken? Should he buy a new HDD or can he live with some unallocated sectors? Do anyone now why It suddenly became super fast or is it normal?? tl;dr : Format your HDD to turn it into an SSD Sorry if my english is bad and for not having other screencaps n_n'
