Hey! I own two graphics cards, one is the RTX 2060 and the other one is the GTX 1080. Right now I'm using the RTX 2060 in my system. My question is, should I use the RTX 2060 or GTX 1080 for better performance in gaming? I also do some video editing. The RTX 2060 is the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 2060 OC EVO 6GB and the GTX 1080 is a blower-style GPU from an Acer prebuilt gaming PC. My most important specs are: i5-11400F RTX 2060 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM (2x8) 650W PSU 80+ Bronze Thank you! //ItzSwezy

Hello. I have a ZOTAC GTX 1080, AMP! Edition, since 2016, but before that I had other graphics cards from ZOTAC, such as a GTX 660 Ti and two GTX 970 (actually four), one of which failed and was returned. My question is whether it is possible to do SLI between the AMP! Edition of the GTX 1080 and the Mini model. I ask this because my GTX 970 SLI was not as smooth to run as it should have been. Firstly, I had a GTX 970 Dual-Fan, which I still have today, and I bought an Extreme Core, but there was no way to SLI them both because they were incompatible. I returned it to the shop and bought an identical Dual-Fan, but this one didn't do SLI either because the part-number didn't match. Then I received another Dual-Fan, which had a slightly different part-number, but it worked along with the card I already had. There are several reports on the Internet, such as this thread: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/user/180172//222166// There's even a post of mine among them. Anyway, what I want to know is if I will have problems when trying to use a GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme and a GTX 1080 Mini. I don't know if this nonsense (incompatibility) of the 900 series also affected the 1000 series.

Hi Everyone So I'm kinda at my wits end. My PC looses video signal ( the display goes black, sometimes thje screen just goes black once, other times it does it a few times in quick succession before completely going black, with the only resoution being to restart my pc) if i try to put any sort of load on the GPU, what ever was open that caused strain on my gpu also closes does been happening with any game I play as well as when trying to test via Kombustor. I have tried re-downloading my drivers and it hasn't resolved the problem, I have also tried removing my GPU and just running my display from my CPU's display which seems to work. is there anyway to determine what piece of hardware is going? Windows 10 and Windows 11 both give this problem i7 8700 2 x 16 Corsair Vengence 3200 MSI Armor GTX1080 Antec EAG Pro 750W

ive been having a hell of a tine finding any 3d load software that utilizes more than 2gb of vram ive read the post of someone using unigine valley to find ur max offset but my gtx 1080 is quite annoying since it just keeps going up in fps all the way to 1000 and not to mention with each step i see it going from 120fps 500 offset to 118fps 520 offset to 120 540 offset it repeats this pattern all the way upto max offset no artifacts because ECC memory not even stutter cannot use msi kumbustor because keeps hitting pwr limit cannot use superposition because to get it over 3.5gb means 20fps so good luck seeing any improvement or reduction as u increase the offset cannot use firestrike because u cant stop camera at high load high fps section and u have to pay for it cannot use those BS vram stress testers because there not a 3d load cannot use unigine heaven cause of that low memory utilization i bet if i can find a 3d load app like heaven that can fill 4+gb of vram i would actually see this big drop in performance when i get past 500 offset or maybe its more like in the 400s until then its running a 2075 core and and 5540 mem

Hello fellow gamers, i recently bought a used zotac gtx 1080 Amp Extreme edition which looked like a great deal, but it wasn’t. The card doesnt give out a signal but when i used it in my second pcie slot and my rx 580 in my main it hets detected by windows but it says it needs some kind of drivers to support the gpu or whatever. Does somebody know the answer to this? Psu, Motherboard, Cpu, Ram are working as they should.

Hi guys, After lurking for years a post from me. A few weeks back I experienced black bar artifacts in CoD Warzone and Multiplayer (see vid). After trying different Nvidia Drivers, reinstalling the game, reinstalling windows and DDU runs I gave up on the game. I thought it was the game what was at fault. And after playing a few games of Overwatch without a hiccup I thought I was right. But this evening I was firing up my Ghost Recon Wildlands, and the problem here was much more intents (see vid). Using multiple NVidia drivers don't have any result. I don't have an overclock on the system, nor did a underclock help the problem. I am running the following system: 6700k @ 4.4 ghz Zotac GTX 3080 AMP edition MSI Z170 Pro-A Do I need to say my 1080 goodbye?

Hello, I have a three year old custom built PC. Starting yesterday or the day before, I noticed that I will leave it idle for a while (dual monitors on, no sleep mode enabled) then return to it with the fans going full tilt and my screens black as if it were in sleep mode. My peripherals will still be lit up but no clicking or key stroke does anything as far as I can tell, forcing me into a hard reset. I use a Kraken X62 radiator mounted to the front of my case to cool the CPU and have an NVIDIA GTX 1080 Duke GPU. In NZXT's CAM app today I noticed crazy temperature readings for my GPU while under idle (562 degrees, fans not spinning) and while under load (600-700 degrees, fans spinning). My first thought was that these were not accurate readings? Looking at various tech forums, the potential issues seem to be: Fan headers not installed properly (originally CAM was not registering any fan movement for CPU or GPU but it registers for both now) CAM App is garbage and providing false readings PSU under powered Here are relevant system specs: CPU: i7-6700K (not overclocked) Motherboard: MSI Z170A SLI Plus GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Duke PSU: Cooler Master 750W 80+ Gold Cooling: NZXT Kraken X62 Rev 2 What's going on here? Is it one of those aforementioned issues or something else? Thanks.

I´ve tried playing far cry 5 and ghost recon wildlands, my fps arent terrible but they are way under what is expected from my setup. I cant get afterburner to work, but the wildlands benchmark says my gpu usage is average 76% and i get only 50 fps on mixed high/ultra. On the far cry 5 benchmark i get only 75fps average on high. I´ve tried to change some settings but nothing worked. Nvidia setting is set to max performance, system too. I´ve tried everything but nothing works. Im running a msi gtx 1080 with an r7 2700 and 16 gigs ram. Im playing in 1080p.

So I upgraded my pc to a whole new system two days ago, but I've been waiting to get a new gpu since they're sold out everywhere. I kept the storage from my old pc along with the boot drive, but when I powered up the system it wouldn't boot into windows. After some quick research I found a solution: change the boot setting from UEFI to CSM and that did the trick. Now I sold my gpu and I am waiting to get my hands on an rtx 3080 when they come into stock, but for now I'm not doing much gaming so intel graphics are fine. The only things I did was remove the gpu and plug the display port into my mobo, and now my pc once again won't boot into windows. I have the same boot drive and I double checked using the hardware monitor in the bios that all my drives are being detected. I checked to see if my motherboard had reverted to UEFI again and it had, so I set it to CSM again since that worked the second time. My pc restarted and this time my monitor wouldn't even display the bios and I got a no input detected message. I reset the mobo by removing the cmos battery, and tried again. Once again I booted into the bios so I restarted the pc and spammed f11 to select my boot device but there wasn't one, there was only an option to go into the settings. I set UEFI back to CSM once again and this time when the pc reset I got a message saying something along the lines of your graphics device doesn't support the settings (I'm guessing it meant the CSM) and then it reverted and sent me back to the bios. I have no clue what to do and I don't know why windows wont boot anymore. My boot drive is still connected and the pc still sees it but I can't boot into windows. Any help is greatly appreciated! Hello All, I recently got a used GTX 1080 for a great price; however, the previous owner said his thermals were getting into the 80s and higher consistently. This didn't bode too well for the longevity of the card and I theorized the large dust build up was probably the main culprit. In the process of disassembly, I found that the hole which holds a screw to the heatsink had come loose, causing the screw and the hole to spin together. Since the part was incredibly small and the usual methods were futile, it was very difficult to do much about the issue except try and brute force it. At some point, a tool must have slipped and knocked off a capacitor from the board. I sadly didn't notice and have no clue where the piece landed. Could be anywhere by now. Worried that I've inadvertently damaged something else, though I feel that I was pretty careful and only had a few slips. Unfortunately, just enough to loose a component. Anyways, I'm asking for some help identifying the specs of the capacitor missing and seeing if there is any additional critical damage. I know it's a long shot, though I really don't have many people to turn to. Louis Rossmann unfortunately doesn't take GPUs and the other local electronics repair shops didn't want to even touch it. So I've turned to the community for help. Hoping that someone knows something or at least can point me in the direction of someone who does. Suggestions welcome for additional places to post for help. I will attach pics of the card and a pic of a perfectly working card from google to save some time. Hopefully this leads to something and I can feel confident that I won't kill the GPU when powering it up. Thanks for your time and help!

Hello All, Some PCB damage is present on a Zotac GTX 1080 Mini. Now normally I would submit and RMA request, though I damaged the board while removing a stripped screw (knocked off 3 capacitors and 2 resistors, which I can't find) and secondly the card was purchased on offerup so that makes a RMA Request even more difficult. It's a shame because the card worked perfectly before, though now I'm afraid to power it up and inadvertently kill something on the board. The fact that an entire board would just go to waste over a few small components makes quite angry. In the end I'm pretty desperate here. I haven't been able to find a schematic online, nor have I gotten much advice because no one can really guess how to fix it without some more context. So I'm reaching out to the community in the U.S. or anywhere really. If you know a Zotac electrical engineer / technician who would be willing to fix the card for a price I'm willing to pay. You can send me a message with an email or phone number as to keep their information private. If you know any other avenues to take let me know. I'll attach some pics of a good card and one of my damaged card. Pics: https://imgur.com/a/THZv10B

I just built a new pc with a msi z490, 850 evga psu, 32 gbs gskill ripjaws, gtx1080, intel 10900k. So the issue is I will turn the computer on and it will get stuck at the gpu debug led everything else works as far as USB or fans. After about 10 mins or less it will show the screen .I've tried clearing cmos, Making sure the cpu was set correctly and tried it without a GPU using onboard graphics. if any one has seen this before let me know. I don't think its the gpu tho

So recently I have the problem that my screens go black and freeze for a few seconds, this happens randomly and I don't know what te problem is. I have a feeling that is is my graphicscard. I recently bought a RTX 3080 and replaced my GTX 1080. But I still use my old powersupply, witch has 650 watts. I don't know if it is a problem that it has not enoth watts or that is is something else, but this is the only thing I could come up with. Because when I still had my 1080 I never had this problem.

Sometimes I look down at my rig and notice that all the lights on the graphics card are off. The computer stays running. Nothing changes. I assume the card is still on and powered, but it isn't lit. I bought the card new. It's done this its entire life. I've never had any other issues with it, but it worries me. EDIT: Today the GPU went out while the system was running. As usual, the system didn't power off, but a bunch of display settings became unavailable (and Windows Night Light turned off) and the computer was slow and the display output looked like a**. I thought it was just running on CPU graphics, but here's the kicker, my monitors are plugged into the GPU. So why was I getting any output to begin with? Please help. gpu fan relubricate GTX 1080 Founders Edition fan?
XXNakenLutefiskXX posted a topic in Graphics Cards
my 1080 FE fan is making some noise, i am pretty sure it is the bearing in the fan, i was wondering if it is possible (and a good idea) to relubricate the bearings in the fan GTX 1080 Founders Edition fan if it is possible what oil/lubricant does it use and what would be a recommended way to do it? -
System Specs Operating System: Windows 10 Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x 8-Core Processor Memory: 32GB DDR4 Memory 3200 (4x 8gb) Graphics Card: EVGA Gefore GTX 1080 SC Monitors: 1x 1080p 60hz Monitor(HDMI). 1x 1440p 144hz Monitor (Display Port) PSU: Corsair RMX850x 850w PSU So... this issue has been occurring every now and then. Weird graphic issues happen like constant FPS drops in Valorant if I have both monitors connected but only one monitor on. Or Unreal Engine games constantly crashing with both monitors on. And other weird graphic issues... but this one can be common but I don't know how to repeat the issue? What I did today was play Old School Runescape while in the menu of New World while also watching a video on Youtube for a good solid hour or so. And then the audio gets cut out and my graphics drivers crash. I am able to open simple windows like Task Manager and it shows GPU Utilization -1%. I'm not sure how it got to -1% and if that's the reason for my weird graphics issues. I have done the following to try and resolve the issue: Run windows update and installed all updates. uninstalled nvidia drivers and reinstalled most recent drivers. uninstalled nvidia drivers and used a forums recommended "Stable" driver for GTX 1080 (this honestly did nothing) removed my GPU and cleaned the dust off. Checked for any abnormalities. Seems fine... Checked NZXT Cam for any power related issues. No Overclocking. No heat issues. Both CPU and GPU idle below 40c. I'd like to note this GTX 1080 I bought off of someone years ago. It use to be a mining card and had some dust on it however, I did clean it up nicely and it has been working really well until recently. Could my card just be dying and unable to handle the load? I took a picture of the incident. If anyone has a grasp on something similar to this situation let me know! I feel like my only solution is to buy a new Graphics Card which... HA ... yeah. Thanks!

Hello friends I’m new here and I have a REALLY confusing hardware problem, so this is a gonna a bit long. tl;dr, I think my RX 470 is locked to Ryzen systems and will not work with Intel systems. Context: From the Philippines. I bought my girlfriend an RX 470 that she could use in her new build until GPU prices calm down. I found the card secondhand from a seller with many positive reviews, and he proved to me (with timestamps even) that the card was in good working order and could play games, could do anything really. All this to say that the seller seemed solid. My old setup: I received the card, it was old, had faded gold pins, but otherwise looked normal. I plugged it into my OLD system with an i5-4460, Asus B-85 Pro Gamer, 8 gb RAM, Windows 10, to test the card. The system would turn on, GPU lights on, fans spinning, but no display. Reseated the RAM and the card, still no display. It would show up as no signal on my monitor. I plugged the HDMI cable into my motherboard with the 470 still attached, and found that the GPU was not detected at all even when running off of my integrated graphics. AMD’s driver software that detects your GPU for driver updates wasn’t even finding it. My current setup: My current personal system has a Ryzen 7 5800X, Asus X570-F, 32 gb RAM, Windows 10, and a GTX 1080 FE. I swapped out the 1080 for the 470 to see if it would work, and it did! The card worked perfectly fine in my current system. I could play games and do anything. I thought it wasn’t working on my old setup because maybe the mobo was dying, so I decided to let it go and hope for the best until my girlfriend’s setup arrived. GF’s setup: A couple weeks later, my gf’s parts finally came together and we set up an i5-10400F, MSI B560M Pro-VDH Wifi, 16 gb RAM, Windows 10. Plugged the 470 into her setup and boom, no display, exact same problem as with my old setup. It would light up, fans would spin, but no display. I tried placing my GTX 1080 into her system and THAT worked. I went to Reddit to ask around and somebody suggested the possibility that the card may somehow be locked to Ryzen systems being that it failed to work in two Intel systems. I asked the seller what his system was, the one he had the 470 running in, and sure enough, he had a Ryzen 5 1600, B350M. This just furthered one Redditor’s theory that somehow it isn’t compatible with Intel systems. My original theory was that my X570-F could detect the card because being that it’s a higher-end mobo, it was more sensitive to even faded contacts? Although that makes no sense with the original seller’s mobo being an older, cheaper B350M. Currently: As of now, I have given my girlfriend my GTX 1080 to use for now until I can figure out what to do with her RX 470. The 470 works in my system so it’s currently plugged into my R7 5800X, X570 system. The temps are fine, even better than my 1080 FE’s temps. What I have tried: I’ve tried a lot of things to try and solve this so I can’t remember all, but here’s what I can recall right now: - Reseating RAM - Reseating GPU - Using HDMI, Display port, VGA, none worked - Updating drivers (could not because AMD software could not detect the RX 470) - DDU-ing NVIDIA drivers - Updating BIOS - Resetting BIOS to default - Removing CMOS battery and replacing it after 2-3 minutes, did it again for 5 minutes. - Cleaning the contacts with an eraser twice, with and without alcohol - Checking if integrated graphics were enabled (it wasn’t) - Checking if Resizable Bar Support was enabled (it wasn’t) - Enabling “Normal Setup” on msconfig instead of Selective Startup - Booting from Integrated Graphics on my old Intel system, entered device manager to check if the RX 470 was detected, but it wasn't I have considered having someone re-apply the gold pins, but I did my best to budget for this and I would rather find another way that doesn’t involve paying hahaha Thank you so much for any help you can provide! I will reply to you as soon as possible, I'm studying for an ophthalmology exam at the same time hahaha Edit: Pix of the RX 470 contacts: https://imgur.com/a/FNYZvq3

Hi there, I'm Pablo from Argentina. I'm having an issue with a desktop pc i'm trying to build for my gf. I had laying around an i7-4770k with a maximus vi hero formula, and two gtx 1080 i stopped using. The issue i'm having is that the second card isn't recognized in the BIOS GPU DIMM POST. Basically it shows only the first GPU in the x16 slot. I had a single-slot gt 640 from a nas server i use and decided to chunk it in the third PCIE slot.. and voila... suddenly GPU DIMM POST shows all three cards in x8/x4/x4 config. I do not understand why this happens and would really appreciate some help from the community.

Budget (including currency): sub 650 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: HFR 1080p RDR 2, No Man's Sky, Forza Horizon 5 Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have a 1080p 144Hz freesync monitor, 5600x and 16GB 3200 CL16 MEMORY. Should I stick with my GTX 1080 or go for the 6600XT? I'd go for the 3060 TI buy my microcenter only has the radeon card. They have the 6700XT but that's way out of budget at 900+

Hello fellow tech enthusiasts, saw this deal online today and the seller claims that the GPU is a Gtx 1080 "oem". It's an hp obelisk but I can't find a picture match of the card and the cooler on the gpu just looks too janky. Can anyone confirm this card? Thanks!

Hello, So about 3 years ago I bought a HP prebuild gaming PC (OMEN 880-p1xx) since I don´t have any experience in PC-building. After some time I got a harddrive error which sometimes caused my OS not to start up or (if it did) run very stuttery (sometimes it worked just fine). After exchanging (and upgrading) my M.2 i still got the same results which led me to believe the Motherboard is the issue. Since the warranty expired I´m now looking to replace the old motherboard (HP 8437) with the ROG STRIX B360-G GAMING. Is this a reasonable replacement and would you guys recommend doing a motherboard swap without any previous experience in PC-building? Thanks for your help!

Hello LTT Forum members! I have come in search of answers. After owning this card for over 2 years, my zotac 1080 mini has decided today of all days to start having issues. While the card itself performs fine, one of the two fans has started to spin at max speed without cause, even at idle. The other fan spins at normal speeds and reacts to After Burner just fine. The fan at max speed seems to react as well but will not spin bellow about 75-80% speed even when adjusting it in AB. I have tried installing older NVidia drivers and the problem still persists. However when no drivers are installed the fans behave normally. I have also tried using display driver uninstaller to attempt a fresh install of the latest Nvidia drivers and I have updated my bios, tried physically removing and reinserting the card and have inspected it to ensure there are no loose connections. This issue occurs upon booting into windows and persists the entire time the PC is in use. Any advice would be much appreciated. I just want to play Cyberpunk without my desktop sounding like jet engine.

Hey Guys, My first post here, I need some real experts Today I received my new monitor, LG 32GK650F. Hooked it up via de supplied DP cable, no image (no signal) after the POST screen. I see the hardware detection, I see the SATA drives detection, but I don’t see the shortly blinking cursor in the top left corner and everything after that. When I attach a secondary display, via DVI of HDMI, no issues. The LG 32GK650F works just fine. The only workaround I've found is to attach HDMI and DP and set the screen to HDMI1. Windows is set to duplicate displays. Now it boots normally and I can switch the monitor to DP input (with all the benefits) after I'm in Windows. System: Asrock x58 extreme3 (yes, really) Xeon x5675 @4Ghz 12 GB RAM MSI Armor GTX 1080 Things I've tried: Other 1080P monitor with DP in --> Same issue Other cable --> Same issue Reversed the cable --> Same issue (yes, I saw this workaround somewhere on Reddit) BIOS x58 = up-to-date BIOS GTX 1080 = up-to-date Ran DP FW update (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/nv-uefi-update-x64/) I can't try another GPU because I don't have one. Please, don't give me answers like; "update you Motherboard, CPU or PSU first". This system runs great, modern games on high settings 60+ fps
