Hi, I have Samsung Galaxy S6 fone for about a year now. And I noticed that my volume down button is different than volume up.The button feels hard to press and there isn't any tactile feel, that i pressed it. And I don't know is button getting stuck or something or this was intentionally by manufacture to help distinguish the two buttons.

Hey guys i'm planning on buying my first ever smartphone (or any phone for that matter) in the next 2 months, what would be a good option? My budget is $300. For now, I really like the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 5. Ever since my mom got the Galaxy S4, I've really loved how the screen works and the overall UI. However I'm not apposed to other phones aswell. (I was originally thinking of getting a oneplus, but they are too expensive.) Anyways, what are your thoughts? I'd prefer the phones to be brand new, but if it has to be refurbished, I'm still ok with considering one.

So I've had the S6 for about 1.5 years now, but about 8 of the most recent months, it's been out of order until a week ago since the screen was broken and I kept putting off on fixing it. Once I got it fixed, it updated to Android 7.0 Nougat, and I've noticed that my battery drains extremely quickly, much faster than I remembered it (I think it ran Android 6.0.1 or 6.1.1, don't quite remember exactly). For example, just today, I pulled it off the charger after it fully charged (including some "trickle-charging" to top off the charge), used the phone to browse a bit of Reddit, scroll through some files and reorganize my music while listening to it all on very low brightness with no WiFi (just using data), after just 35 minutes of usage, it dropped to 81%!!! What can I do about this? Please don't mention lowering screen brightness or the very simple power saving stuff like turn off background stuff - I already did most of that. I will try factory reset as my last resort, or even reverting it back to Marshmellow as my last-last resort. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

So the battery life on Galaxy S6s is pretty bad. Been looking around for a good battery case, but am wary of investing in one of the more expensive ones and the cheaper ones seem to have mixed reviews in terms of quality (you get what you pay for). Does anyone have any suggestions/opinions on battery cases for the Samsung Galaxy S6?

I have a Galaxy S6 and both the newer and older gear VRs. Both gears work fine with an S6 Edge and S6 Edge plus. When I try it on the S6 running 5.0.2, everything installs fine. It tells me to change the resolution which I do. It goes all the way through installing everything and seems fine until I put it back in the gear. The "sight" dot stays straight ahead and I can't change my view within the scene. Cardboard works fine, 360 degree videos work fine, even the city scene where Oculus asks for a facebook login works fine. I've blown away all gear vr apps and oculus apps twice and reinstalled-no dice. Samsung tells me to contact tracfone for help, tracfone won't help because I haven't activated it with them (it was an Ebay store liquidation pick up). I bought this phone specifically to use VR on it as I'm trying to keep it off my main phone and the S6 Edge had battery swell that can't be fixed. Any ideas? Haven't even gotten any real answers on XDA.

I bought myself an S6 off someone a couple weeks ago. It was bought used, but it's in mint condition. It started giving me phantom presses on the multi-tasking button, which got so bad it made the device unusable. I installed a custom rom, then rooted, and edited a system file to permanently disable the button, so I at least have functionality again. The issue doesn't end there, however. My screen seems to register input which interferes with normal use. If I scroll, it'll automatically halt itself. If I watch a YouTube video in fullscreen, the pause, scrubber and whatnot keep popping in and out as if I hit it myself. I have show touches enabled in dev mode though, and it's not showing me any other touches. Also using testing app, it registers all of my touches, and doesn't show any other ones that shouldn't be there. Clearly, there's some sort of issue with interference, something in the phone must be touching something it shouldn't. I've tried all methods you'd ask me to try, so I'm looking for someone who's dealt with this issue and understands what's going on more then I do. I can't get a refund, as dick seller assumes it's my fault - nothing I could do there. Even if it had warranty, that's not an option due to Knox being tripped. And I live in a small town where phone repair isn't possible, plus the price would be equivalent to a new phone anyways. I have a repair kit, and I've got a roll of phone adhesive, so if this is something I could repair myself, that would be best. Let me know, thanks

Have a Galaxy S6 G920T, TMobile version, that needs serious help at this point. I've tried searching through the XDA website but my version of the phone doesn't seem to be that popular and supported. Do you guys have any roms that would help breathe new life to this dying phone of mine?

Samsung Galaxy S6 Hissing Noise (New, 2019)
LightningwingDragon posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Hello all. Just have a question, so as to make sure my phone won't explode and burn down the house. I dropped my Samsung S6 into the water. It was fully submerged for about three seconds or so. However, it was wearing an Otterbox case, albeit NOT the fully sealed waterproof one, but the covers were closed at the very least. Anyways, I promptly shut off the phone and dried it as best i could. There didnt seem to be any water on the inside, so i turned the phone back on (I think that this was my mistake.) When i did, the phone promptly shut off again, and indicated that there was no charge. A quick google search later, and my phone was now in a bowl of rice. It's been five hours, and i just went to check on it when i noticed a faint hissing sound coming from the device. Worried that it might be the battery, i turn to you, the masterful tech ninja's of the LTT forums. Please Help! -

So I have been doing some digging into looking for a reliable way of getting my sim unlock code to unlock my Samsung S6 Edge and I don't want to use my current carrier to get the unlock number. Does anyone know a reliable website to get a code to sim unlock my phone? I don't really trust many website with my IMEI number and whenever I go to a website that some other youtuber says is good, there are usually a bunch of comments under the video saying things like "I payed but haven't gotten my number yet..." and other comments like that. So far I have looked at: androidsimunlock.com theunlockingcompany.com cellunlocker.net But all of these website kinda give me a bad feeling. Anyone try these? Anyone suggest a good site just short of contacting my carrier, AT&T? Or should I just say screw it and get my unlock code from my company (probably the most reliable but a pain to deal with customer service)?

I currently own a Galaxy S3 (GS3) with Virgin Mobile (VM). VM coverage is on the Sprint network using CDMA, The ONLY phones that VM accepts (allows) on their network are phones that VM provides, they have the main stream phones like the GS7 (For $650), they also carry the newest iPhones as well. Plans transfer over to new phones for free, and I am currently paying $35 for unlimited talk, text, and data (First 2gb is high speed data, then its puts rest of data on the wood network, buts its still free). This is a VERY good plan as I got it over 8 years ago, and never stopped it. It used to be $30 but was increased to $35 about 2 years ago due to taxes/inflation. (No contract, VM only does prepay per month). I was really hoping to buy a OnePlus 3 (For $399), but I would have to switch to T-mobile or At&t, and their plans start at $50, and have extra fees if you use too much data. With those numbers I would be making my money back after 16 months of continuous service, and I plan to have me new phone for longer than that. I'v been using my S3 for about 3 years now. TL-DR; Are there any other coverage providers other than T-mobile or At&t that can provide anything close to my current plan ($35 a month unlimited everything)? Or should I just pay the big $650 and use my phone for a year and a half/more?

Just checked for updates on my Galaxy S6 on Sprint and am now downloading the Marshmallow update! It's 1235.87MB, so taking a bit on the slow wifi I'm currently on. Quick note for people who want to upgrade, make sure you disable encryption if you enabled it before you update or you won't be able to disable it at all afterwards. You can re-enable device encryption after the update.

Today my Galaxy S6 stopped being able to charge from the wall adapter and cable. I tried using a mix of 4 different USB cables and 4 different wall adapters, neither seemed to charge the device. The device now only charges through the USB ports on my computer with any of the fore-mentioned usb cables. I cleaned out the USB port of the device to receive no results as well. Also, when my device is plugged into my PC to charge (I am running Windows 10 and used USB 3.0 port(s)), it comes up with an error message every other time randomly, either stating that: "The last USB device you connected to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it.", or simply bringing up the device on windows explorer as "Name's Galaxy S6" with no files inside (even though clearly it has files/folders etc. Any help re-guarding this will be greatly appreciated. Update: The phone also charges EXTREMELY slowly on the PC's connection.

Hello LTT fans! Someone in my family recently received an Apple Watch because they did financial work with a company, but had no use for it and didn't want to send it back. It would be rude. So, he gave it to me. I told him that I had an Android phone and had no use for it, but took it anyway, better not to waste, eh? I tried it out with an old iPhone 5 I had lying around and really appealed to it! I have a Moto 360, but this was WAY better, imo. The thing that annoys me is not getting notifications from my Galaxy S6 Edge, which is the main function of a smartwatch (For me) anyway. My question is, as the title states, Is there a way to send or mirror my notifications from Android to iOS or Watch OS? I have tried Pushbullet, but it can only send notifications to a PC, not inter-phone, atm. Thanks to all replies!

Source: http://www.androidauthority.com/inkjet-printer-spoofs-smartphone-fingerprint-scanners-678289/ Researchers at Michigan State University demonstrated how easy it is to trick the fingerprint sensor found on S6 This is just absurd. While everyone craps on Apple for pretty much everything atleast they take these kind of things seriously. I'm honestly surprised that it took this long for someone to actually test fingerprint sensors on other phones. Hopefully this sparks interest to check out all other fingerprint equipped phones

Many people had been complaining Samsung's TouchWiz and their bloatwares for years, and there are rumors for months that Samsung may redesign their TouchWiz UI on the upcoming Galaxy S6, but we have not much information on how they would do it. But now, SamMobile.com may have part of the answer for us. According to SamMobile.com, besides optimizing its softwares to near-Nexus levels, Samsung may remove every add-on features that can be downloadable. Instead of making them as pre-loaded softwares, they will turn into downloadable apps. SamMobile didn't have much info on which apps will be affected by this, but they predicted that selling point features like S Health will most probably stay on as pre-installed apps, while others like Story Album, S Translator, or even S Voice may become downloadable apps. This may be a good move for Samsung, as they can slim down the OS, and those apps and OS can be updated far more quickly than that in the past. It seems Samsung has prepared lots of changes to its upcoming flagship smartphone, to make up the losses in mobile market share. http://www.sammobile.com/2015/01/29/exclusive-samsung-removing-bloat-from-touchwiz-making-most-of-it-downloadable/?utm_source=feedly&utm_reader=feedly&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=exclusive-samsung-removing-bloat-from-touchwiz-making-most-of-it-downloadable

Well, what did you think? It all went as expected if you ask me... I don't hold much hope for any kick ass new tech this year... So lets get to it. Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge I've been using Samsung Galaxy S range phones now for years, I've been on contract with the S1, S2, S3 and S4. But personally I think Samsung have done nothing new or worth writing home about since the S3. So what's the difference between the two models? It has curved screen edges (yes like the one they showed off by Samsung mid 2013!) http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/24/4768264/samsung-shows-off-working-curved-screen-smartphone It has the curve on both sides unlike the one shown mid 2013 It looks to be a plastic case rather than metal like the S6 Has side swipe points (what's the bets that will bring the screen out of standby each time you pick up the phone causing a big loss in battery life) Now for the good points, because the bad points will (for me) put you off these mobiles from even being considered a purchase or locking me into another 2 year contract. The good Oooo curved screen (Personally I don't think much of this, would have pref the screen bending version which reduces sun glare) http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/8/4818572/samsung-galaxy-round-curved-oled-smartphone-official It doesn't have a Snapdragon 810 processor which is known to overheat Supposedly a better camera than the iPhone 6 (I will wait till I've seen GSM Arena samples on this however) All the usual expected stuff (but not all!) Metal case and glass rear on S6, S6 Edge looks to be plastic also not sure if edge has glass rear 20% brighter screens The bad Non removable battery! WTF No micro card sd slot! WTF WTF! Stupid screen resolution 1440p - there goes your battery life and 20% brighter, probably drain the battery 20% faster lol Under 3000 mAh battery (are they ever going to learn, if not by now, I doubt it) Tried to sell us the usual bull of how fast the camera now opens, when we all know it wont be like that all the time and eventually after lots of use, apps and background services running etc that camera app will take a second or two to run Conclusion (for me) Time to move on, nothing to see here, adios samsung and thanks for all the fish! For full specifications check out: Galaxy S6 http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s6-6849.php Galaxy S6 Edge http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s6_edge-7079.php HTC One M9 I've never really been a fan of HTC, but I think it could be time to check it out, now that they moved away from 4x4cm pixels and a 2mp camera. The good Good screen resolution (1080p) complete waste of battery and money after this IMO Front facing speakers Case 20MP Camera (quality needs to be reviewed check GSM Arena some point after release) MicroSD card slot 3GB Ram 32GB of internal space (I didn't see a 16GB model, but there probably will be) The bad Snapdragon 810 processor know for overheating issues I personally do not like the customisations they have made to the android system (I would probably flash the device with stock android when I can but I wouldn't recommend this to all as you can turn it into a worthless brick and void your warranty) Battery still under 3000 mAh (2840 but only has to power a 1080p screen) So it looks like we have a clear winner, even if I don't buy the HTC One M9, it's a clear winner over the S6 and S6 Edge (for me). Full phone specifications can be found here: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_m9-6891.php Now for the one I will probably purchase... Xiaomi Mi Note I've never had one from them before but the stats and design and screen to body ratio is better than anything Samsung or HTC have to date with the same design. Main stats which push me to buy this are: 5.7" screen (personally I'm not a fan of anything over 5" but after using a Galaxy Note 4 I found it quite nice) 1080p screen (no silly resolutions) Android 4.4.4 (5.0 would have been nice but no loss there really) 2.5Ghz (need more? why?) 16/32/64GB internal storage versions 3GB Ram 13MP Camera (Which I will probably set to 8 or 9) 3000 mAh battery (would have liked to have seen a 3500 on a device with this screen resolution but at 1080p shouldnt be so bad) Only 2 negative, non removable battery and no MicroSD card slot, but it's been a long time since I've used my phone for watching videos or cramming it with more apps & MP3s than I could listen to given the battery life on these things (I pref to refine my play lists). Full specifications at: http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_note-6944.php As for the rest so far (sunday 01), HTC Vibe could be worth a look at, look how fast they got that ready compared to oculus rift! Piss take or what. They announced the HTC Vibe in partnership with Steam will be released Q4 2015, which will probably be before the oculus rift. Oculus rift moves an IR LED 1cm to the right and they treat it like man just landed on the moon for the first time. Code on... Starglider

NEED HELP: Samsung S6 Black Screen, Blue PULSING Light
JaZoN_XD posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Hi everyone, I need some help on how to get my phone working again! I dropped my phone from waist height onto wood floor (gym). There's no exterior damage at all because it wasn't a very high drop. My phone case if quite rubbery and protective and it has a glass screen protector. When I picked it up, it wouldn't turn on. I pressed and held the power button and then the blue LED came on, pulsing and smoothly transitioning between blue and cyan. It's been doing this for about 3 hours now. I tried all the button combinations, but they don't work, they don't do anything screen remains black and the blue LED stays on. However, while holding down the power UP and HOME and POWER buttons, I see that the screen flashes on extremely dimly for a millisecond before going away and flashing on again about 5 sec later, almost like a bootloop except not even a logo appearing. I tried plugging it into the computer and the computer would recognize that a Galaxy S6 is plugged in but I can't open it and browse any files. If I tried plugging it into the charge, sometimes doing the power UP, HOME and POWER would shut off the blue light and if I wait a little while (as if the phone's booting up but no display), the phone starts charging and the red charging LED shows up and the charger gets hot. However, at that point, if I press the power or home at all, it once again does one of those super dim flashes and shuts off and goes back to the blue light. Can anyone please help or give me some advice on where to go to get this fixed? Thanks.- 23 replies
