Good evening everyone, I'm a first time poster here so please be gentle, I'm delicate. I've been messing about with computers for quite a few years ago, cannibalising old hand-me-downs and fixing the computers of people I know. Anyway, the other day I decided to finally build myself my own, decent computer for college work and programming, which brings me too my issue. I bought an ASrock Extreme4 MB, an Intel i3 6100, 1 8GB DIMM of Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400MHz and a Corsair 460X. Upon building my computer yesterday all was well, POST and clean boot first time. However, after wiring it up to my AMP through the rear 3.5MM audio port I found that I had to turn the volume on my AMP and computer up quite drastically to achieve the same volume as before. I'm aware that some MBs don't amplify audio out of the rear I/O so I repeated this on the front panel audio with the same result. I tried both ports with my headphones (Sennheiser HD439s, 32 Ohms Independence) and at full volume I could just about hear what was playing. In addition, I attempted to test the front microphone port but upon inserting the cable there was a large pop from the speakers and my system black screened. I cant fathom what is wrong other than a fault with the board. The panel cable is fully inserted into the header. The most up to date drivers are installed. All volume mixers at max. I tested with a spare front panel I/O to check whether it was my 460X but to no prevail. I appreciate any help. I just want to check that I'm not being an idiot and forgetting something completely obvious before I RMA this board. Thanks in advance.

So I updated my BIOS. (I've done this many times, on multiple computers.) using AsRocks Windows Bios update tool found here:http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77 Extreme4/?cat=Download&os=BIOS and everything went smooth. I went into the BIOS and I am experiencing weird lag. The screen will freeze for about 5-10 seconds and then update everything (Bios clock, mouse, temps) and I cannot figure out what is the problem. I have gone ahead and tried flashing the BIOS by loading it onto a USB and then flashing that way. Same laggy results. I tried restoring BIOS settings to default. Same laggy results. it loads Win10 and everything runs snappy fast. I only experience this lag in the BIOS.

Hey guys can someone tell me how to set the Clock speed of RAM to 3600? I only get displayed 2133. Maxbe someone of you also has a ASRock Bios menu and can show me? So far I set DRAM frequency and clock to 3600, but when I restart I still see on the mainpage 2133. In the advanced it shows 3600. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I am new here and just got myself new computer.. main use is for browsing, video streaming some games and audio editing. specs are: Case: NZXT S340 Elite CPU: I7 8700K CPU C: Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 GPU: No Video card at the moment( haven’t decided what I really need). MB: ASRock Z370 Extreme4 Men: G.Skill Trident 16GB DDR4 3000 SSD: EVO 960 for Windows 10 SSD2: EVO 850 for storage Case Fans: 2x140mm Be Quiet High Speed (intake) and 2x120mm Nzxt fans (exhaust). I did Not OC and don’t really know how to do everything is pretty much stock. I have few questions: My CPU Temp on idle is 26-33C (SpeedFan) and Voltage 0.656(CPU-Z), is this normal ?? I did try to run some stress test and I got: *Prime95 CPU Temp went Over 80C and the computer shut down and restart itself. *AIDA64 I run for about 4 min CPU Temp went up to 80 C and I stopped it( I don’t want to cause any damage). *Intel Burn Test with Normal speed test I get 50-70 C , High Speed Test 60-77C , Very high Speed 60-80C and I stopped it again.. I am not sure if that is normal as the CPU is under 100% load but this results are ok? It look to “Hot” to me.. I don’t know if there is anything wrong with the system? But Maybe water cooling for CPU will be better? Any suggestions will be appreciated! TIA Kfir

Hello there ! Probably this one was discussed before... if it was, I'm sorry. Recently I bought ASRock Z170 Extreme 4 with Intel i7-6700K. The issue I'm facing is when I want to put most of the voltages manually for 4.5GHz - Vcore using an Offset Mode (+55mv) + LLC3 = under full load of Prime95 v29.4, 1344K = 1.28v to 1.296v monitoring with HardwareInfo64 and HardwareMonitor, RAM voltage (1.35v) and using XMP Profile, DRAM Activating power (2.5v), VCCIO (0.950v), VCCSA (1.050v), PCH (1.0v), VCC PLL (1.2v) and Internal PLL Voltage to Auto, for 3+ hours - no errors, nothing. Same goes for 4.2GHz, when I was trying to put manual voltage 1.2v, which I know is the default. Rest of the configuration is: RAM G.Skill RipjawsV 3000MHz, CL15, 1.35v, Power Supply CoolerMaster GX 750, CPU Cooler CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO. I've been using this power supply for maybe 6 years now with i5-2500K 4.0 GHz, HD6850 Stock, and never had an issue with it. I upgraded just 3 weeks ago. But, when I'm playing GTA V my Computer suddenly restarts, but with no blue screen, just black screen, beep and ASRock logo - Loading windows ... Then after checking Reliability Monitor, using Windows 10 x64 1709, the only thing that I can read about the error is: Windows was not properly shutdown - nothing else. no clue about error code. My question is: My Vcore voltage is too low ? Or other voltages are not correct ? Probably power supply issue ? Thank you in advance !

The much awaited 100 series motherboard is here at goldfries' lab and it's a beautiful one from ASRock. If you've watched my video coverage of ASRock's showcase of Intel 100 series motherboard in Computex 2015, you'll probably guess it correct when it comes to the board's color scheme. The Extreme series has always been the "Blue Ranger" of ASRock's boards but with the 100 series the boards in Extreme series are now in black and brown which is quite similar to the Z87 Series http://www.goldfries.com/hardware-reviews/asrock-z87-extreme4tb4-lga-1150-motherboard-review/ . Starting off at the upper corner, the distinct difference between this and the previous generation boards is the covering over the I/O area. That aside you see the usual combo of 2 large heatsinks covering the 10 Power Phases. The ATX12V connector is at the upper corner as always and with sufficient clearance between it and the heatsinks so it's all good in that asepct. Next up is the RAM - the Z170 Extreme4 comes with 4x DDR4 DIMM slots supporting up to 3500+ speed with maximum capacity of 64GB. It's of a 2-phase power design. The USB 3.0 port is next to the ATX power connector and speaking of which, the Z170 Extreme4 comes with USB 3.1 support. And here's what I love about ASRock boards, I have both the Z87 and Z97 Extreme4 models and now I have the Z170 Extreme4 in the lab and all of them come with this awesome POWER / RESET button with debug LED. That aside, you'll see that the board comes with many SATA ports, supporting up to 3x SATA Express devices. Not only that, it comes with Dual-BIOS as well - just in case you love meddling with weird BIOS configuration to bring the best out of the board. Moving to the other corner of the board we see 3x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots. The PCI-E slots run at x8 / x8 for Dual-card setup while x8 / x8 / x4 for Tri-card setup. The board supports both AMD CrossfireX and Nvidia SLI. Right under the first PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot is the Ultra M.2 mounting point that supports M.2 SATA 3 6GB module and M.2 PCI-E Express module up to Gen3 x4 (32Gb/s) What I don't like about this design is that the Ultra M.2 is right under the slot - meaning it will be running VERY HOT should one put the graphic card under intensive use AND it's difficult to access should one design to swap the storage device. The Z170 Extreme4 comes with Purity Sound 3 - 7.1 Channel audio system with Realteck ALC1150 Codec. Notice also that there is a cover on the audio processor area (refer to previous photo as well) and what this means is that there's very little room to do cable routing under the PCI-E components. As as for the I/O panel - it comes with a host of USB 3.0 ports, including even the USB 3.1 Type A and USB 3.1 Type C ports. they're the USB ports located next to the audio I/O ports. Note also that the Z170 Extreme4 comes with a CMOS reset button and even a PS/2 port to support legacy input device. Unfortunately Intel's latest range of processors are still not available at the time of this review, therefore there will be not images for the UEFI interface. I will update this article in the near future once those processors reach the lab. The Verdict The ASRock Z170 Extreme4 is a feature-rich board, retailing at around RM 835. It's certainly not a budget board but you get quite some neat features on it, like USB 3.1, Ultra M.2 and multiple SATA Express device support. Recommend badge? Yes or No, that will be decided once I test the board with Intel's 6th generation processor but one thing's for sure, things definitely look positive here based on my experience with my Z87 Extreme4 and Z97 Extreme4 boards. ASRock's range of 100 series motherboard is expected to hit Malaysian shores next week. Availability in other countries vary, please check with your local contact. The motherboard works great, however, the red LED's for the power button and reset button (not on the case, but on the motherboard itself) are always on, regardless of whether my computer is shutdown or booted into windows. I dislike the red (it conflicts with my black/blue color scheme) and want to know if there's a way to disable it. Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone. My gaming computer released the magic blue smoke today when I plugged in a faulty DVI cable into the onboard graphics. ~~IF ANYONE HAS AN ASROCK Z77 EXTREME4, PLEASE TRY TO GET A GOOD PHOTOGRAPH IF THE PARTS NEAR THE HDMI PORT~~ This cable had given me troubles before when I used it on my normal graphics cards, but the cards just simply shut off instead of exploding things. I decided to mark the cable as defective using the Photonicinduction method that way I wouldnt mix it up with my other 50 spare cables. Anyway, when the cable was plugged in, after about 10 seconds I smelled the smell that we are all so unfortunately familiar with. However, the PC kept going. My eyefinity monitors weren't disturbed, and the audio I was playing continued to play. I shut the machine down immediately and unplugged the cable once I smelled smoke. Is this machine still safe to operate? Or should I desolder and replace the blown component? I have had SMD soldering experience. If I desolder anything, what should replace it? The failed component appears to be D8, a diode? Other parts on the board seem to be labeled "LNW 24" but have different designators. I have some low-tech marco photos of the only visibly failed part as well as the annihilated cable in a .zip file, and they can be found full size here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-LjUeh-cirIeVJTbEYwa1pUMnc/view?usp=sharing Motherboard is an Asrock Z77 Extreme4 if anyone has the same board. Thanks!! Note, this is the same post as here where more photos can be found: http://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/my-motherboard-released-the-magic-blue-smoke!!!/ please let me know if cross posting is not allowed. Edit: It works! Thanks everyone.

Hello LTT Forums! I am building a Video Editing/CAD/Rendering/Gaming PC. I just wanted so advice in terms of the motherboard. (I know it does affect performance, but I just wanted a second opinion). The two motherboards I am considering at the moment are the ASRock Extreme4 and the MSI SLI Plus. I've used three ASRock boards in the past and I was getting a little tired of them so I decided to look at the MSI board (I am a bit of an MSI fanboy). Anything else I should consider or other thoughts? Thanks!

Two years ago I had very small idea about computer parts. I got a PC off ebay with a 3770k with a crappy motherboard that I can't OC with. Two years later I am thinking about upgrading my motherboard to a Z77 ASrock Extreme 4 (its on amazon for £78, $129, €94). I wanted to know if it is worth the upgrade so I can OC, SLI, SATA3 6.0 Gb/s for my SSD and other stuff or should I wait till haswell - e? but I think the 3770k can last me 2-3 more years in the gaming world. My current motherboard is a ASUS P8H61-MX

So I'm running an i3 3225 and an extreme 4(from another build) When I googled 1.65v ram with Ivy bridge it said that it can deteriorate the CPU overtime and voids the warranty, but I also read its perfectly fine and should have no problems. Does anyone know the truth? RAM: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=65921&vpn=KHX1600C9D3K2%2F8GX%2BKHX-FAN-B&manufacture=Bundle%20Deals PS: Its a good deal if anyone is looking for RAM and a free cooler

Hello Internets, So as some may know from my Blue/Black HAF X build post, I am planning a blue/black gaming rig. Now having sorted my case out, definitely going with a HAF X and replacing the red fans with blue ones, I have one other smaler aesthetic issue. the motherboard. Currently I am planning on using either a ASRock Z77 Extreme4 or Extreme6, but neither of these really suit the build. even though they are both predominantly black, they also have assorted yellow accents that while im not overly picky about do disrupt the look in my opinion. So my question is, what are your guys suggestions for motherboards that fit better with the colour scheme while being in the same price range as the two boards I listed above. Thanks for your suggestions, tharrison14

Hi, I asked this question about 2 weeks ago and nobody had an answer. If you have any ideas please comment. so i build a computer for my friend about a year and a bit ago, and recently when he turns off his PC the fans and LEDs stay on when the PC is off. He usually has to hold the power button down to turn them off or turn off the power supply. His specs are: i5 3570k asrock z77 extreme 4 noctua d14 evga 780 8gb corsair ram seasonic M12II 620W Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys, So I've heard the Extreme4 from ASRock is a bad motherboard to get if you specifically want to overclock as the Mosfets (or is it VRM's) are not good for it. What's the story on that? Are they low quality or something? I am not heavy into overclocking yet, but I did intend to go water cooling and hopefully get at least a 4.5 on my i5 3570k later. Was just curious how that might go. Thanks, Vitalius P.S. Advice and suggestions appreciated. :)

Hello everyone! I was wondering if the Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400mhz ram would be compatible with my ASRock 990fx Extreme4 Motherboard with the AMD 8350 CPU. I've looked all over THE GOOGLE and couldn't find anything about that. Thanks! Gift
