Ok this is my second post about this and I’ll be a lot more concise my waveform fx1300 (3100?) T-Mobile modem has poo for wireless. It’s in my office (top floor) and from my living room I connect at 17mbps . The darn thing is directly above me! my house is networked with switches all over. 8 port in living room, 8 port in office, 24 (100mbps) port plus 2 SFP and 4 gig port Netgear something in the basement. Given the server has ~10 Ethernets on it, yeah makes sense. The 8 port switches are 1g, the net gear is a mix. Benefit of the net gear too is it’s semi-managed and supports PoE on like 12 of the 24 - something like that. ANYWAY tmobile box to basement (fancy netgear switch) gig port, then living room (8 port gig, TP link) and office switch (8 port gig, TP link) both off diff gig ports (office has 2 cat6 ran to it) on the main netgear switch. anything in my house that has an Ethernet port, is obviously hardlined TLDR; now I’m trying to setup static ipv4’s for my stuff. The hardlined junk, no problem. Modem gets the MAC and thru the settings I say “you” are .12 and “you” are .20. Works great. BTW I DONT have v6 internet access on anything - not quite sure why, not that it really matters. moving on, since the reception for 2.4/5 is so terrible I dug in my closet of stuff and pulled out a net gear ac1750 (ex6250). Plugged it into an outlet, hardlined it to my laptop, hit that little teeny reset button and set it up as a repeater. I guess it’s a “mesh repeater”, to which idk what that means. I got a bunch of wrt-54g’s with ddwrt on em and always set those up as repeaters/extenders, whatever. shes got a static ip set of .10 and under the same subnet. Works fine…. It’s also an REPEATER not setup as an AP (there’s a switch on the side) PROBLEM? It seems to be using NAT or something cause I can’t even use nmap or the modem to “find” my wireless stuff and assign them IPs I’ve tried eth to repeater doing nmap, WiFi to repeater nmap, still don’t find my WiFi stuff. Seems to be disjointed from my subnet - dono why. My modem pulls up everything (devices accidentally connecting to it too, same SSID), just not anything connected to the repeater itself. Shows the repeater though! doing a deeper scan it looks like there’s a firewall - no surprise there. A crapload of filtered ports, “sneaky” lol, pfft theres no alternate firmware from ddwrt for this guy and the “options” are no different than a baby piano. Though it does show what’s connected to it, I can’t set static IPs. Heck there isn’t even an option to turn off the firewall let alone NAT. If anybody wants DM me I’ll give ya my IP and enable DMZ if ya wanna tinker. Yes I do have a static ip from t-mobile, one big reason I wanna setup statics for my stuff SO that being said, how can I assign statics to WiFi stuff if it isn’t even pulling up on my modem?? Again the repeater is, just not what’s connected to IT. Looking at (screenshot) you can see what’s going on here. It’s taking the MACs and giving the devices the same virtual mac, depending on if it’s 2.4ghz or 5 urgh, how can I fix this? Honestly I’d much rather plug this into a switch and use it as an AP - might solve my problem plus the other issue as you can probably guess, oh surprise! ip address conflicts! Duh! You’re giving a “smart” light the same f*ing IP as one of my reserved ones for my server. lol now my buddy can’t access my FTP cause the “smart” light is a priority??? in the photo look at the top 3 devices, see how the virtual macs are the same? The bottom 2 are different cause as I mentioned, different band, 2.4 versus 5ghz thanks peeps, I’d like to nail this down as I’d like to setup ADDS and have a domain, preferably!!

There's a decent line of sight gap in the forest, about 200m from mounting positions, with very low brush coverage that won't be expected to obstruct it. Semi-rural, so not really worried about interference. I found this article: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/08/point-to-point-wi-fi-bridging-between-buildings-the-cheap-and-easy-way/ and am leaning towards a pair of CPE210 because it'll be <$120 total shipped, and comes with the PoE injectors. https://www.tp-link.com/us/business-networking/outdoor-radio/cpe210/#specifications But they're a few years old - is there a Only aiming for 50Mbps - this is upgrading a 6Mbps connection that runs from a neighbours property who is refusing to allow an upgrade to run on the same poles. The receiver will be out in the open, and this is in the rainforest in BC. I have no idea if IPX5 is sufficient. This is an install for a friend who is not technically inclined, so reliability and cost are the most important factors. Any suggestions for mounting brackets that will make it easy to aim? The transmitter will be about 20m above the receiver so we'll have to aim them at an angle.

Hi, I am looking upgrade my wifi system, at the moment I am using the modem that my internet provider (TalkTalk UK) with an Netgear Extender EX2700. I have researched Mesh WiFi and getting a better router that 'takes over' the orginal modems function and come up with lot of option. I personally was looking in £150 range for any improvement but can see a max of £200 depends on spec and future proof. I was suggested website below but its a little steep, https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-Nighthawk-wireless-satellite-extender/dp/B01N4F1192/ref=sr_1_9?crid=21Q55MNV8OZP6&dchild=1&keywords=netgear+extender&qid=1613769178&sprefix=netgear+ex%2Caps%2C178&sr=8-9 My Problem: - there are more than 20+ devices on the wifi network including smart tvs, alexas, laptops, etc - signal is weak upstairs - i pay for 70mbs and as my house is an older one and electric not updated, I don't have ethernet port or wire coming upstairs to connect to extender so acts as a repeater - I looked into what frequency my wifi was on and matched with other peoples wifi near me so there is interference there but not really sure how to interpret data tbh and how to chnage what channel my 2.5+5 GHz runs on Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can improve it? Any suggest of alternative or comparison tables that I can view myself?

Hello i am having issues with the wifi range recently and i can not decide on how to proceed. My issue started when i wanted wifi in the detached garage. I bought a small plug in wifi Extender placed it in the back enclosed porch (Tp-Link AC 1200 RE305) and got it up and going. But i only have signal right inside the garage doorway after that it drops hard. The extender is only 20ft from the router and only has 2 walls in the way. what i should buy to replace the current extender? The distance isn't so bad it is only about 30 ft from the house. Would i benefit from a new router more? (current is netgear AC 1750 r6350) ? or should i just upgrade the extender ? (I had plans to wire the garage with Ethernet but the driveway is in the way for underground and trees prevent overhead). I have no idea what to do. (i will ad a crude diagram of my setup)

Hi There, With working remote for the last year, I've set up my computer to live in the living room for gaming, and KVM a single monitor over to the office. Since it looks like remote work might be a long time thing, I'm looking to upgrade up to a dual monitor set up. The issue I'm running into is that the only Dual-monitor KVMs I have found rely on two CAT cables like this: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/IPHE2-120UA-Dual-Monitor-Extended-Display_62432299725.html?spm=a2700.galleryofferlist.normal_offer.d_image.74f3287eEzV1tf TLDR, is having two monitors going through a single CAT5 port a pipe dream, or is there something I could manage without having to run extra cables through the wall? I only need 1920 x 1080 with 60 or 30hz per monitor, could possible drop to VGA or DVI as well to manage. Cheers!

Right now i'm using a rig that doesn't have access to wireless internet. I use a wifi extender with an ethernet port instead. For some reason right now I'm getting about 27mbps on internet speed tests on this pc, but while on a laptop connected to my main router OR the extender i get like 95mbps. If someone could give some advice I would really appreciate it because I'm lost right now, thanks!

Internet speed is very high but extender slows it down alot.
D-TEK posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I did a speedtest and the internet speed is about 70 mbps download, the extender is about 20 meters away and has good connection, i am about 10 meters away from the extender and have nearly full bars, and im only getting 3 mbps download and alot of ping, the extender im using is a dsl 1620. What are some things i can do to increase speed? Thanks in advance. -
What is the best wireless gaming extender? My internet keeps going in and out and annoys me. I switch from one connection to the other and both do the same. I’ve upgraded one as well. My internet provider should’ve gotten me 50mbps but they lowered it to 40mbps for some reason. I’ve heard that the Netgear Nighthawk X6S AC3000 (EX8000) was the best but I wanna know the pros and cons of this and others

Hey all! Kinda new around here. Does anyone know of any right angled pcie X16 riser cables. Not bent at the connector, but in the wire itself? Got a tricky setup I'm trying to work out. Thanks!

So here is my problem. My PC connect to an extender (AC3000-Nighthawk X6S Tri-Band WiFi Mesh Extender) because my router can't reach my room. The ethernet keep disconnect and I have to unplug then plug back in to get the internet work again. After a couple minutes it disconnect again (different everyday, sometime I play a whole day before it disconnect again, sometime 3 times a row within 5 minutes). However, my phone wifi, which connect to the extender, work fine, I watch twitch and youtube perfectly. Thank you for you times guys

Hey guys , i am having some trouble managing my network. The wifi signal i s too week in my living room(just on the final bar) and i am looking to extend my network. I hace already tried the wifi extender option but the signal is too weak and i am not able to get a decent connection. I have no way of placing the extender halfway. ( i have a tp link archer a7) and am looking to use thier OneMesh function but with no success. I am looking for a variant to use another router and connect it via lan cable, but DO NOT WANT TO MAKE IT AN ACCESS POINT. I have already tried that variant and the signal on my devices stays on the lowest bar and does NOT disconnect or transfer to the other router when i switch rooms. Is there a way to do this

So i bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0084ZYI88/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it looked reasonable with helping me get some better wifi coverage around my house. my pc doesnt have a wifi card so i was using powerline adapters for my pc and that took a major internet speed hit, i get about 120mbps upload and download when i have an ethernet plugged strait in from my router but thats across my house so i wasnt planning on doing that. with the powerline adapters i got about 20mbps upload and download so i needed something else. so i bought the wifi range extender, now i have it i connected my pc to it with one of the gigabit ports on the back and RIP, the speeds are SUPER unstable, one moment they are at 80mbps upload and download the next moment they cant surpass 5mbps. and i play a lot of games on my pc so this is kind of a problem, is this just something wrong with my model? it seemed to have decent reviews so i didnt think something like this wouls happen. Usually when i test the speeds it gets around 35 to 40mbps, (which is still much lower than i should be getting) but like i said its very inconsistent at times

Ok, so at home I have to use a mandatory modem/router set-up provided by my ISP. I can't switch the ISP. The router broadcasts using the 2,4Ghz band. Like every other router provided by my ISP in this flat. So the signal actually degrades real fast even going just a few meters away. To combat this problem I bought a network extender with Dual Band. I don't use it when gaming (thank god I have a Lan port for that) but all other devices are just used for media consumption. The media devices are all on the 5GHz band which is just a re-cast of the 2,4GHz of the router. This works great. Internet stability throughout the apartment has vastly improved both in speed and reliability. I am well aware that I won't get the full benefit from the 5GHz band because the extension is the weakest link, but it works perfect so that's fine. Now, for my question. Can anyone tell me if the devices that are on the network communicate with each other via the full 5Ghz potential when not using the internet? Erga, would it be beneficial to attach my home server to the extender to actually use the full Gigabit connection? Now it's directly attached to the Router and 4K can't be played unless a Lan port is involved. However potentially it could be possible if the full 5Ghz bandwidth of the extender could be used. It is a hassle to set this up however because of aesthetics, so I would like to know if it would help first.

Hello, My neighbor asked me to take a look at his tablet as he was no longer getting any internet on it. I took a look and the issue was that it was unable to connect to his extender. I took both his tablet and extender back home but was unable to get android to reconnect. All it would say is connecting and then after a couple of minutes it would just say disconnected and eventually try again with no success. I started by removing and forgetting the network on the tablet and then reconnecting but this didn't help at all. I then tried resetting his extender and setting it up a few times but this didn't help either. I tried using the same name, different names, encryption and open networks but still nothing. As a test I joined some of my devices to the extender and everything connected fine and likewise I joined his tablet to my router directly and everything worked fine still. I also connected his extender to another network and wireless access point and connected his tablet and everything still worked fine however, when I joined his extender back onto the router his tablet couldn't connect. I have also reset his tablet with no luck. Basically everything works and can connect to each other apart from his tablet which can connect to everything apart from his extender when the extender is connected to that one specific router. His tablet it an Asus Zenpad p023 and he has a basic netgear n300 extender. As a final note, I have also attempted to update his tablet but updates are available, Thanks Asus..... as well as uploading a slightly newer firmware to his extender. Has anyone else had trouble with these types of extenders or tablet were they all technically work but just have comparability issues or does anyone else have any ideas as to what might have caused it? everything has been working fine for his for about a year. Thanks, Scott

I recently purchased a TP-Link RE580D wireless extender. Here's how I have everything configured: Hitron CGN3ACSMR modem from ISP: -wireless disabled -DHCP enabled -LAN IP 192.168.0.1 -subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Netgear R7000 router: -set to get IP address dynamically -set to get DNS address automatically -2.4 GHz band enabled (20/40 MHz coexistence, auto channel) -5 GHz band enabled (channel 153) -smart connect enabled (router selects best band for each device, instead of having to connect to a particular band directly) -DHCP enabled -LAN IP 192.168.1.1 -subnet mask 255.255.255.0 -192.168.1.2 reserved for RE580D TP-Link RE580D wireless extender: -static IP of 192.168.1.2 -subnet mask 255.255.255.0 -default gateway 192.168.1.1 -same SSID and password as the router -DHCP server off There was a noticeable improvement based on speed tests and just general usage over the last few weeks. However, my dad just experienced the following issue on his phone: -"No Internet connection" displayed in orange text -wireless extender was showing that the phone was connected with an IP address of 192.168.1.13 -phone was showing an IP address of 169.254.1.80 From what I read, this means it couldn't contact the DHCP server (my router). So I decided to move closer to the router and, sure enough, his phone eventually connected. Is there something that I configured incorrectly? Is there anything I can do to prevent this issue in the future?

So I have this problem (wonder why I'm on here ): I'm in a room without ethernet ports and my PC does not have WiFi built in (used only ethernet for years). I have a router with me that's not even a year old and I was wondering if there was some way to use it as a wireless adapter for my computer by connecting it to the WiFi in the house. Also, running an ethernet cable is not currently possible and I'd prefer to not have to buy a USB WiFi adapter. I'm able to do this with my iPhone feeding off of our WiFi and plugged into a USB port, so I'd imagine the same concept would apply here. Any help is appreciated!

I'm looking for a budget Networking setup, including a router with WiFi, and an WiFi extender. I want the SSID of Wi-Fi for the router and extender to be same so it works kinda like a mesh. I don't care about the speeds because I live in India and I have speeds of 4 Megabits down. So yeah, my budget is around 100-150usd. Or maybe should I buy two routers and do something to make one them work like an extender. Pls halp me.

Alright so I made a mini-itx build with a core v1 case and realized I need two pcie cards, not just the video card. Since the video card im getting takes up two expansion slots, I plan to just get a case with 3 and get a pcie splitter. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a pcie splitter that splits x16 (x16 speed) into two x16( x8 speed) , I am trying to find something along the lines of the RVZ0-1 from silverstone where there is a 90 degree pcie extension but for two pcie ports and being able to fit in a typical m-itx case (not necessarily my core v1) , thanks yall, any help will be much appreciated!

Hey guys. I have been struggling with the research for finding the optimal networking/wifi setup. Because I currently reside in an approximately 3600 square feet house, I need a good setup that can reach very far. The problem is that I have no idea what combination of components I should purchase. From what I can see, mesh network routers seem to have their own separate flaws depending on the company and it's hard to determine which one is the least bad. I also don't really know if it would be better to get a modem with a router (or a combination, however, I heard that it's better to keep them separate) and then get a wifi extender, or even just get rid of the concept of increasing the wifi range with another component and instead opt for the Motorola MG7700 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BRZ2KW5/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A1JCDPLP2335KA&psc=1 ) which supposedly already has a decently long range which would save some hassle and money. Money is not really a big issue, but I would prefer something within reason. So what components do any of you recommend? Thank you.

Hello guys! I recently moved into a new apartment, and due to its layout, i cannot wire my pc directly to the router, so what i've done is i bought a range extender(tl-wa850re), and wired my pc to it, the extender itself is like a meter from the router, signal is perfect, and latency is near perfect most of the time, but every 20-30 seconds i get a huge lag spike(200-300ms), then it is back to normal. I'm fairly certain that the issue is the connection between the repeater and the router, because i pinged my router, and this is the result i got: Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1: Packets: Sent = 99, Received = 99, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 1ms, Maximum = 344ms, Average = 10ms This seems to happen pretty randomly, i do not know why. I tried: Updating firmware, disabling ipv6(someone suggested it on another forum),disabling other devices. So far, nothing worked, and I would be extremely thankful if anyone could give me any tips as to how can this be solved.

so today i installed a long network cable to my new room. first a 25 meter one, then a extender thing (ethernet ports at both sides) then another 10 meter cable and everything is in cat 6 but I only got 130/40 mbps and I am paying for 250/100. i tested with my laptop and a 1 meter cable from the router and i got 230/80 and im fine with that. does the connection get so bad from 35 meter (kinda 35 yards) away?i think its a bit strange that it losses so much. what should i do?

Hi guys, so I have this problem that keeps annoying me while I browse or gaming with my network connection,so I'll explain my network setup to get things clear. My main internet connection is off at the moment, so as a temporary solution I had to connect to a wifi from downstairs which is pretty far from my room, so the way I did is like this: since my PC doesn't have built-in Wifi adapter I connected through "Ethernet cable to Huawei WS323 " and let it act as a wifi adapter for my pc then I had "Linksys WAP300N" in the hall near my room act as wifi extender and connected to internet router downstairs which is "Huawei HG8245Q". Now my problem is that when it's working well, sometimes my windows will rest the network adapter, even though WS323 is connected to wifi and I get many unidentified network problem, also sometimes when I'm watching YouTube or playing online game and someone opened the door of my room my connection will be lost and I will see this adapter rest again.. Is there a way to let these three including my pc to connect with static ip so that it won't rest and try to find new IP everytime it rest cause it take long time to reconnect again. Thank you for your help and sorry for long paragraph ??

Hey guys, I've got 2 Tenda Nova MW6 units as well as a D-Link AC3200 Ultra Wi-Fi Router. My house is quite long, so I was looking for the best way to set this up for optimal coverage. I've got the AC3200 in the middle of the house connected to ethernet ports at either ends of my house. I was planning of putting the MW6 units at each of the sides of the house, connected to the ethernet ports. I've done some reading and have found that people are suggesting turning my MW6 units to Bridge Mode, and turning off my Router's Wi-fi. Would this be a smart idea? I'm worried about the middle of my house having no coverage. Is it a must that I turn off my router's wi-fi when using the Novas? Before this, I was using TP-link range extenders connected to the ports, but got sick of having to manually change networks on my phone & laptop when moving from one side of the house to another. Are there any other ways I can set up my network system using these devices? Let me know, Cheers.

Hey, guys. I have the Core P3 case, which I love, and I'm using the extender bracket and cable for my GPU, because it's too long and would overlap with the radiator and fan otherwise. The problem is that, as you can see in the stock pic I attached, the bracket seems to invalidate every other PCIe slot. I have a capture card I'm trying to install, but I have no idea...how, if that makes sense? Is there a common or obvious solution to this I'm missing? Thanks in advance!
