Hi I currently have 8 analogue CCTV cameras that connect to a hikvision DVR. I want to remove this DVR from the equation. 1 for security purposes, 2 to apply machine learning smart intrusion detection and better way to acces the streams and view streams. I have a spare raspberry pi and thought that I could use this as a DVR. The cameras use BNC connectors. All tutorials on the internet so far have only showed people using the raspberry pi as the camera. I was wondering is it possible to connect the analogue BNC cameras to the raspberry pi via some sort of capture device The cameras are as follows: https://m.takealot.com/hikvision-1080p-2mp-turbo-hd-ir-bullet-camera/PLID49115293 Thank you in advance

I bought a new DVR to replace the old one the issue I'm having with the new one is that it doesn't come with it's own separate client software for Windows - it relies on IE plugins and it sucks ass the only good app available for it is for Android and iOS, but those aren't useful to me - vMEye https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vMEyeSuperHD.ui&hl=en does anyone know of a general use DVR client software? some info: DVR is AHD system recognizes itself as: V4.02.R11 port is 34567 I'll be using 8 cameras

Hi Guys, Need some help here. Is there a such hardware that you can record things directly from your monitor? Let say i have a DVR plugged in to a monitor, and the monitor will show all the previews on each camera, say 9 preview boxes on the monitor. Is there a such thing to records the preview boxes on the monitor separately while the DVR is still recording individual camera footage? I hope i can make this clearly... Thank you....

This should be a fun one I have a house with ~100 smart devices (all of the lights, ACs, blinds, some doors, some locks, some power outlets, boilers, etc) - All connected to HomeKit (using homebridge) As my Security Cameras DVR died, I was wondering how can I in addition of locally storing my footage, store it in the cloud using Apple's free recordings. Basically, I am looking for a DVR kind of device with 8 camera inputs like the left image, and 1 output like the right image, that also has an API I can access the live footage stream locally on the network. + Do you think it is a good idea to keep it all on Apple's servers? I think it would be smart to also store a local copy, but the HomeKit integration would be wonderful to access the footage from wherever, securely. I am aware of: The thing is I already have my cameras installed, and wired to my power-closet, so I just need to find a compatible device

Hello, I have a (maybe) dumb question. I work at a local cafe and since workers were stealing money the boss decided to take a cut from everyone's paycheck. The place is completely surrounded by security cameras and there is a DVR which they are all connected to. The DVR is off (none of the LEDs are on), but cameras start flashing red LEDs when it's night time since they have night-vision. So does that mean that the cameras are on and DVR switched off? And does that also mean that the cameras are on and no one can stream them live and they can't record?

Hello Guys/Gals I need some troubleshooting help with my parents DVR occasionally skipping minutes in saved recordings. The DVR in question sadly is not a very high quality one, being a cheap Xiongmai DVR that came with a combo package of 4 cameras. What i have tried/Info I have tried 2 hard drives, a WD Purple 1TB specifically bought for it, and an old WD Blue 1TB, both of them still exhibited MAJOR responsiveness issues, although as expected the Blue was absolutely horrible to use. Reboot/reset/restart Checked connections (The cameras themselves appear to work fine, since in the TV preview they work completely smoothly.) Lowered the quality to its absolute minimum (helped with responsiveness, though still not ideal, and still sadly skipping) Streamed the cameras through RTSP via the DVR to my computer while stopping all recording on the DVR. (They work perfectly, and considering the DVR has to encode to send it over via RTSP it further seems like an Hard drive issue) So, my question is that could it be possible that an SSD might fix it? As it seems that the HDD is getting overwhelmed somehow and stops responding. An excerpt from the logs: 0842 2019-04-25 04:52:17 No Bitrate 2 (hdd_rec) 0843 2019-04-25 04:52:17 No Bitrate 3 (hdd_rec) 0844 2019-04-25 04:52:17 No Bitrate 4 (hdd_rec) 0845 2019-04-25 04:57:20 No Bitrate 1 (hdd_rec) 0846 2019-04-25 04:57:20 No Bitrate 2 (hdd_rec) 0847 2019-04-25 04:57:20 No Bitrate 3 (hdd_rec) 0848 2019-04-25 04:57:20 No Bitrate 4 (hdd_rec) 0849 2019-04-25 04:58:29 No Bitrate 1 (hdd_rec) 0850 2019-04-25 04:58:29 No Bitrate 2 (hdd_rec) 0851 2019-04-25 04:58:29 No Bitrate 3 (hdd_rec) 0852 2019-04-25 04:58:29 No Bitrate 4 (hdd_rec) 0853 2019-04-25 04:59:14 No Bitrate 1 (hdd_rec) Oh, and the DVR model number is A1004NS-C, Its an analog DVR with 4 BNC connectors to the cameras. If anyone has any idea what the hell is wrong with this thing id be very happy :) Thanks in advance for any responses :)

So we just bought a new Samsung DVR at my work and it says 1080p but it still tends to look quite blurry. It gets much worse the farther you zoom in. I'm fairly new to the world of Security Cameras but was asked if I could help find a better solution than what we currently have. The cameras themselves are 2 Megapixels and go over BNC cables to a DVR. Should I try going with a higher megapixel camera or maybe try making Raspberry Pi cameras? Any help is greatly appreciated.

There was a company called Aero that allowed people to view live and time shifted over the air broadcasts but it went out of business when the US Supreme Court ruled their business model was illegal. There is a new company called LOCAST trying something similar. LOCAST is attempting to take advantage of a provision of US law that allows nonprofits to rebroadcast OTA signals to increase their range. LOCAST is a nonprofit that is rebroadcasting over the internet in a number of markets. The service is free, but they do ask for a $5/ monthly donation if you use the service. What I am wondering is whether there is a way to record/time shift LOCAST streams, ideally with some kind of timer. But even if I had to be at my computer to begin a recording it would be worth it just to be able to fast forward through commercials. I am recent adopter of cord cutting. I am subscribed to Hulu Live, but Hulu Live does not include all my local (NYC) broadcast stations. Specifically they do not carry my local CW or PBS affiliates. I've tried to access these stations with an antenna and it seems Hulu is using the same antenna I am because I get all my local channels except my local CW and PBS affiliates. I just found out earlier today that I've been approved to buy an apartment a few miles closer to the broadcast antennas, but I am not sure if the board will give me permission for a roof antenna and the apartment I am buying is on the 2nd floor of a building surrounded by other buildings. Which brings me back to LOCAST. I understand why they don't offer a DVR function because that is one of the reason Aero lost in the Supreme Court. But I would gladly pay to buy a program that would allow me to time shift LOCAST streams.

My mother is looking at getting a home security system so she can monitor the house and make sure no one steals anything while her home is being rented out. Problem is she doesn't know the first thing about security systems and I'm not a whole lot better myself. What we're looking for is something with three or more cameras, two outdoor and one indoor. She want's it to store footage locally on a DVR or something like that so she can go back and watch the footage later. Also, something that connects to the internet would be best so she could view the footage from her phone while she's out and about. Is something like this good? https://www.newegg.com/laview-lv-941folf4bw-4-channel-kit-solution/p/N82E16881183133

Hi All, What is the best all-in-one DVR box for a TV? I'd like to avoid having to ever switch the channel on the actual TV and have a box that does everything. Things to include: Antenna (over the air) with pausing and rewinding live tv Streaming services (netflix, hulu, etc) cast functionality (from a phone or tablet) Any good boxes that can do this? Thanks!

Hi, Would it be possible to upgrade my Swann DVR 4575 to the new 4580's firmware? Because I assume the hardware of both devices would be the same. Reason why is I want to be able to obtain the new google assistant features, and because Swann doesn't let you buy the DVR separately. Cheers.

Please actually read. Seriously. I new(ish), if this doesn’t belong here, sorry. This is installed on a server, so its technically server related? Hello Internet people, I’ve just gotten to using plex, through a freenas plugin and OMG this thing is amazing. But I can’t seem to find an answer to a particular question that will be the deciding factor for me getting the Plex Pass. And that question is this: Will plex, installed as a plugin in freenas and with a tv tuner installed in the system, AND connected to a cable box allow me to use Plex as a TV guide and DVR for all of the channels (Sci-Fi, FX, Showtime, HBO, you know channels included in a cable package)? And if freenas is the problem, could the same still be done but in a Windows environment? I have seen where people have used antennas to get OTA TV through plex, I just want to know if it were possible to replace the antenna with a cable box and get more than OTA TV. Reason: I have a backup at my mothers house (who has cable) that syncs with my home NAS and I would like to have those paid channels anywhere as well as allowing my mother and myself to DVR as much as possible and never have to delete anything. I've asked the Plex forums themselves but I never got a reply in over a week so to LTTForums I go!

So I've been using Plex for a long time now, and I'm looking into getting a HDHomeRun Connect Quatro to watch Freeview TV on Plex. (Freeview = Australian Free to Air Channels) However, there is something that I've been researching and wanting for a long time now. To be able to hook up my Foxtel IQ2 with Plex. (Foxtel IQ2 = Australian Cable Pay TV Set-top Box - Uses a cable card) Everywhere that I've looked says that the card cant be read by other DVR's as it's too encrypted. So is there a way to rebroadcast it un-encrypted through my network, like hotels do with their cable TV, or is there some sort of software where I can use a IR blaster and a capture card and get Plex to switch channels? Although that's pretty ambitious. So, any ideas?

Hi! In my house I have a dvr and 4 cameras and the problem is that after switching my router to a new one I lost my config that was made by the camera guy, I changed router 2 ( see the picture) and lost connection from my home network to DVR for playback, it had static IP and I was logging on GUI on it. What should I do to connect it back together, so I can access the dvr from my PC? I am semi experience with networking Thanks !

Hi guys, so my DVR seemed to have stopped working all of a sudden. Here's a video clip of it. Things I've tried (while also attempting to make it display something on the monitor) but no luck: 1. Try plugging directly to wall. 2. Remove the cameras. 3. Removed the hard drive. Any idea guys? Thanks!

Hi, Just installed a cctv setup for a mates workshop. An notice under the choices of frame rate the max is 15 at 1080p resolution. Which I thought was odd at first until a quick google search. Just wanting to know if there is anyway to by pass this 15 fps lock and change it to 30/24Fps for 1080p recording. I'm currently using the swann SWDVK-845808 with 1080p full motion cameras. Any help on this would be great. Cheers

I have a problem with my new laptop. So I got it yesterday, I installed the latest window version and updated all my drivers. But then when i play game the fps is capped 60fps. VSync is off (in Nvidia settings and in game ), DVR is off, I even deleted the xbox app. The only way to fix this problem is to do an advance restart, after the restart everything works normally again. However if i just let my laptop go to sleep or turn it off, it will have that weird glitch again. For more context it is a dell 7567 gaming series with a gtx 1050ti

I just recently bought the drive mentioned in the title, wondering if someone could help me understand the difference between an "AV" drive and a regular drive. (Did some testing, drive is not broken or dying) http://www.amazon.com/WD-AV-GP-Video-Hard-Drive/dp/B006IMFT32

i work at a little hole in the wall metropcs, last week a powersurge nailed the store pretty hard and it borked the junky un named dvr system that was used for the security cameras (ive since gave the owner one of my ups systems to sit behind the dvr) tldr, ive got a spair cpu mobo and ram i figure i might as well build a spair pc and turn it into a more worthy DVR camera system we already have like 12 cameras that connect to BNC heads in place already. id prefer to just find some GOOD 30fps per camera recording and playback over 8-12 cameras pci addin cards that will work on an old amd fx 4100 and junker mobo that old vid seems to run off of a "geovision" software and ip cameras if i can get my Existing bnc cameras plugged up to something like that thad be super any help is appreciated trying to do this as cheaply as possible but with the FPS on each camera paramount no sense in having some 15 or 7.5 frames a second and missing someones Face.

My tech friends, Been in security/cam business 20+ years, absolutely Love LTT... quick question for your advice... My NVR at home has 3x 3TB HDD (9TB total) and searching and access is just fine, I was thinking of switching to SSD or SSHD of similar (or more storage up to 4TB each) but I've read that the specs for SSD or SSHD really shouldn't shoulder the 24/7 uptime that the HDD's are performing. They are benchmarked for heat and lifecycle as an 8x5 (8 hours / 5 days a week) which obviously won't work. Last thing i want is total failure, but does anyone have an opinion that this would be a bad thing to do, or will it work fine? It's located in a cool, dry place, on 24/7, no coolers (BC it's a wall mount NVR), but access both internal and remote seem a little sluggish (nothing i can't live without, just trying to optimize). Thanks

So I have been searching online and I keep getting older results regarding set top boxes and software hacks (which is probably mandatory except for the hardware stuff) Sony recently announced PlayStation Vue for cord cutters. So the million dollar question...using a PS4 (or PS3 as they say the Vue service will be supported on) is there a way to subscribe to the cheaper Vue service and use your NAS as a DVR to host that content wherever I want? This seems like it should be possible but...how Linus/Luke? Please build it, film it, show it to us guys who want this...is there compatible software for this or is this gonna require hacking the PS OS? Then there is the Apple option...with rumors steadily pouring about the Apple TV eventually having some similar service, how would one DVR content from that service to a NAS.

Hey all, I need help finding a new alternative to the Windows Media Center TV tuner/recording software. I have not been very successful at finding any. (I have tried using mythbuntu but was never able to set it up as I'm not a Linux expert and there are no straight forward guilds. ) I am willing to purchase said software as Windows Media Center recording and guide listings have been screwing up lately (Yes I have tried reinstalling Windows). And yes I still watch TV and still use a TV tuner but your help would be appreciated!

media management Rename Airdate from EPOCH format
GeekPower0 posted a topic in Home Theater Equipment
I recently got a new DVR box from my cable provider. I found that I'm able to easily copy the recorded shows over the network to my unRAID box running Plex. The only problem is that Plex can't auto detect the show because the airdate in the filename is in UNIX EPOCH format. (eg: 'Show Name 1454644800.ts') Does anyone know of an easy way to rename these files in to a format Plex (and other programs) can understand? -
