Literally my first post in any forum, ever... lucky you. I'm planning out my first serious build and I'm not sure how many PCIE Lanes I'm going to need for my usage. I've decided on the parts I'm going to use (admittedly some of my choices are a bit 'because I can', but if you have any feedback on my choices, I'd be keen to hear them!), other than of course for the CPU; I'm not sure whether I need the 40 PCIE Lanes that the 6850k offers, or whether I can get away with the poultry 28 that you get from the 6800k. Here's my build https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/harpersneil/saved/jfRvK8 Will I have enough PCIE Lanes to have the NVME M.2 Storage, a second 1080 in the future AND be able to use the included (with the Asus X99 Deluxe Mobo) Thunderbolt 3 Card? Although for now I've got enough (at least I think so!?!) in the future I'm looking to build my own NAS (currently using a Synology DS414), and I'd like to set it up with Thunderbolt 3 so I can get massively improved transfer speeds - the Asus X99 Deluxe board has a add-in card with TB3 on it - presumably I can use this?? Any help/advice that anyone is able to offer is very much appreciated! Seems a bit obvious, but this really helped!! -

Help, I need somebody who knows why this is happening. My PC is taking literally like 5 mins to boot into windows. I made a video showing the issue to help diagnose the problem: Here's a link, sorry for my rambling. If you have any ideas please let me know Thaks

Asus X99-a II Deluxe, optimal configuration?
Eirik. posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi folks! First time ever building my own PC - have now jumped off the mac train. Atleast for my video editing. Since i am a newbie, i cant get my head around which ports i should use for all the PCI-e equipment. GPU is easy that one goes in the top which is rigged, lets call this #1 and have an increasing number to the bottom for the ease of mind. Since i have bought two M.2 disks i need to install the PCI-e to M.2 adapter. Where should this one go? (Corsair Force for Windows OS and Samsung for scratch/cache - want both to have full speed utilisation). Also would like to install the tunderbolt card which is included for my tunderbolt raid bank. Where should this go to get the full speed of tunderbolt? My parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/h6tdtJ Can anyone help me out figuring this out, hopefully someone have a similar motherboard. Thanks! -
Hi guys, Had a raid 0 set-up on two 1TB ssd's that failed because one drive somehow disassociated itself with the other drive and couldn't get them to collaborate like youtubers seem to be doing nowadays. (E N G L A N D I S M Y C I T Y) Anyway I have a i7-5930k on an Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard with 2 1080Ti's in SLI and, would adding an m.2 ssd mess with the dual x16 lanes that the gpu's get? UPDATE: Got the drive and installed it, M.2 ssd running at x4 and both gpu's running at 16x Asus's Vertical mount is so peculiar imo

I bit the bullet and decided to upgrade my system with an ASUS X299-Deluxe Motherboard and i7-7820X CPU. However, I am unable to detect any hard drives in BIOS! I can confirm that these are working drives and cables because I tested it with the old motherboard afterwards. I've used the old system to reformat the HDDs and SSDs to GPT and MBR, cleaned the drive with diskpart, and made sure the drives were listed as Primary and not Logical. I've also upgraded my BIOS firmware to the latest version. Any help or tips to get my new motherboard to detect my hard drives would be appreciated!

Asus x99 Deluxe II USB devices dropping after random ttime
MSVSora posted a topic in Troubleshooting
So I have recently set up my new PC and everything seemed to be working fine, until suddenly it wasn't. It started with the keyboard dropping for a second then connecting again but not sending any input (LEDs flashed off and on again like a refresh), then after a bios update and some driver updates it started happening with the mouse. After that I restarted again and now the keyboard is doing it again. If I unplug the device and plug it back in again it works for a short period of time before stopping again. I have tried googling a bit and it seems to possibly be an issue with the Usb3.1 driver but I cant seem to find any installers for the driver to go back to an older version.I am unsure of what to do and could really use some advice. Thanks in advance -
Hi! So Bf1 is currently on sale on origin, and you can play 10 hours of trial gameplay and i really enjoy multiplayer. I can chose from 3 editions. Standard Edition - 23.99 € Deluxe Edition - 31.99 € Ultimate Edition - 64.99 € My question is what editions unlock the extra maps? The multiplayer showed i need premium to play those, and none of these are premium. I dont care about extra skins or weapons, i want to save money for steam summer sale, but i woud spend some more for the multiplayer maps. What edition shoud i buy? How can i unlock the extra maps for the cheapest? Thanks.

I have the x99 deluxe motherboard from asus running an intel E5-2603 V4 1.7GHz. The ram is two dimms of this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820242215. My issue which is really weird is that the machine will only post after clearing the cmos. After that I get error code 19 which supposedly means Pre-memory PCH initialization has started. I don't get why it will post and allow my to use the uefi and then after resetting it just gives me this error. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The graphics card is a nvidia gt 710. I also have a lsi raid card installed the m1015 can't cross flash it into it mode because of this issue though. power supply is 1000w platinum The memory is also installed in slot D1 and B1 as the manual says.

Hi all, I built my new build yesterday and we had it booted, working, playing games and even rendering videos for around 4 hours. We then restarted the computer and then it worked for around 20 minutes before giving us the BSoD. I can't remember the error message it gave at the time but since then we have been troubleshooting for more or less the last 24 hours (yes we're that sad) and we're still no closer to making it work. We have tried multiple installers for Windows and even a Linux distribution and none will load. We can get past the BIOS but as soon as the computer tries to load the OS it freezes and then gives us a blue screen (with the exception of the Linux distribution which returns a black screen instead). The spec of the new build is as follows: CPU: i7 6700K @ 4.00GHz GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 FTW (no thermal pads or VBIOS) Motherboard: ASUS Z170 Deluxe (latest BIOS) RAM: 32GB Corsair Vegeance LED (white, 2666MHz) PSU: Corsair RM750X Case: NZXT H440 We have recorded the blue screen error messages that we have received within our last 10(ish) hours of troubleshooting and they are as follows: DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED Multiple Google searches have sighed as we searched for remedies for these error messages but none have helped. We have attempted removing the GPU and using the Intel on board graphics which has made no difference and got us no further. We have tried different RAM/DIMM configurations which have got us no further. We have made sure there is nothing touching the underside of the motherboard and also confirmed using the Q code LED on the motherboard that there is/shouldn't be anything brickingly wrong with and of the components. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this build has set me back £1600 and is currently serving as nothing but an EXTREMELY overpriced paperweight. P.S. We physically cannot get into an OS, not even recovery mode nor Safe Mode so please do not ask us to run any in-OS diagnostic tools. P.P.S. We're British. P.P.P.S. "We" refers to me and my friend who have quite a large bill to now pay due to the very quick destruction of a wall. P.P.P.P.S. The wall lived a happy life but it will be missed. P.P.P.P.P.S. In case you haven't already guessed, we enjoyed writing this post more than we did troubleshooting. P.P.P.P.P.P.S. If you know of any good mental asylums then we'll take any recommendations. Thanks in advance for being patient enough to read through this post and for any suggestions you may have.

I am now planning install a RTX 2070 Super in it but before that I wanted to make sure that all the components in my PC are working properly. The problem is that there's no Graphic card and no On-board display port and there's no way for me to connect a display to it. I am using Asus X99 deluxe mother board.

Welcome to my next Project: „Maker EVO Deluxe" After a long time of thinking, I've decided to do a more complex Casemod. Lets see what I'm doing with it. To be called into action is coming the brand new Mastercase Maker 5. Inspired was this Mod from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. The interior was completely cleaned and covered with pale Leather. For the Cables/PSU Area a Cover was created in the Design of the Case. It should be installed a lavish Watercooling with Brasstubes and Chrome Fittings which should seems like a Header. The AGB will fitted justified in the front of the Case, so that it will be one unit on that case and be used as brake fluid reservoir. At the Case you will find some air scoops, which are normally founded on engine covers or fenders., which will be made from me out of Aluminum Plates. At the Leather I made different punch works. Here and there will be a Wing installed together with Headlights and one DTM Axle Back Exhaust. The Theme is called Sportcar and I will try to make as much Details as possible. Hello, Does anyone know if PCIe Thunderbolt3 Expansion Cards are available yet or planned? Also does anyone know if Thunderbolt 3 expansion cards will require a motherboard with a Thunderbolt Header? Finally does anyone know why the Thunderbolt Header is really necessary, and why whatever data from the Header could not be sent over PCIe? The requirement for a Thunderbolt Header on the Motherboard must be choking the uptake of Thunderbolt on PC's. Background. I have an ASUS Deluxe/Dual Z87 Motherboard which has two Thunderbolt 1 ports on the motherboard. I bought this board at the time, because it supported Thunderbolt 1. Unfortunately, this board does not include an additional Thunderbolt header on the board. Therefore when ASUS released the Thunderbolt2 expansion card with the Z97 Deluxe, I was unable to use it on my Z87 board. Thanks. colesdav.

Thanks in advance. -
Currently I am working on putting together a pretty decent gaming rig. I wanted a scale-able chip (for the future) so I went with the Z170 over the x99. I'm only going to be using one GPU (the new 1070 or 1080 depending on which I decide). I will be using a at least a 1TB(possibly 2TB) WD Black HDD, and most likely a 120GB SSD as a boot drive. I'll be using the 6700k i7 CPU. I'll be using 16GB of DDR4 corsair ram. Now all that is left is the motherboard really. I will be using this PC to game, and I want to know whether I should go with the ASUS A or Deluxe. The Deluxe has better audio and and Ethernet Controller, so how much do these components matter? Also, other forums believe that the overclocking benefits from the Deluxe aren't really pertinent in gaming. Is this true? And finally, the Deluxe has 2 more SATA ports than the A. Will I need these in the future for my given setup + minor expansions to HDD's or accessories. Also, I will be using the corsair mini commander to control lighting and monitor my pc. This is my first custom PC build, so if i left out any information, there are better options for me besides these, or you have any other advice/input please feel free to comment. Thanks for your help

Hi! I need the most future proof motherboard available, and I am stuck between two models: Asus z170-Deluxe and Asus z170-Premium. Reason why I'm not jumping into the Deluxe: The Premium has both U.2 and Thunderbolt 3, and it also has a way better support when it comes to Ram Memory Speed. I'd like the one best value for money, but I don't want to see myself upgrading a Motherboard for another 8-10 years AT LEAST. Future proof is the keyword I'm looking for. And it also has to have Wifi. (Therefore the specific models). Any thoughts, experience or so ? I'm leaning towards the Premium, but is it worth it, costing a bunch more ?

My local computer store is having a good sale on this mobo for around $200 and I was wondering if this board is reliable and will last me a couple years? It has a good warranty but I don't want to deal with it too much if it's crap. Thanks!

Hello, i'm a new member in the forum but i've been following you on youtube for a long time now (awesome vids btw). So, on topic, i have a p5k3 deluxe motherboard with a pretty mediocre build around it, i got a core 2 duo CPU E4600 at 2,4GHz, a 2GB of RAM (2x1GB),a Geforce 8600GT 512MB (sparkle calibre) and a 500W power supply. Aaaand i kinda wanna upgrade the whole thing but i wanna max out my motherboards capabilities before i move on to a more <newer?> generation pc. So i started looking in tech sites and see what my options are...I saw some staff and i decided to get some RAM first as it would at least give me a very fast change in the overall system.I saw that this motherboard could only get up to 8GB of RAM so i said ''that's ok, even some new systems are build with 8GB of RAM so i got 2x4GB dimms only to learn that my motherboard may support 8GB in total...but the RAM slots can only go up to 2GB...so that was a waste of money....Moving forward i got 4x2GB RAM at 1333MHz and now i have 8GB of RAM so my question is, what is the best CPU and GPU than i can put on WITHOUT changing my power supply and what are the best CPU and GPU if i get a 750W power supply?

Hi, My motherboard (ASUS Z170-DELUXE) has a sticker on 2 of the Intel SATA ports that says "OS Drive". The problem is I don't know which port because there's 2 on top of each other and there's a sticker on the top. Which port should I use? The top one or the bottom one?

Hey all, About 3 weeks ago I posted a topic about some potential bad RAM that I may have. This is a new build: Intel Core i7 6700k (With Dark Rock Pro 3 as the cooler) 32 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX (2 x 16 GB) ASUS Z170 Deluxe ADATA Premier SP550 120 GB SSD LSP Ultra 750W So, expanding on the old topic--at the time I was getting RAM errors with Memtest. I've RMA'd the RAM as I've said, and have updated the BIOS today to the latest version. (1402 I believe it was). Now, on top of Windows Setup not booting, and the RAM errors in memtest, I'm getting Qcode errors 61 and 62, which are NVRAM Initialization and Installation of PCH runtime services, respectively. Rebooting sometimes gets me out of that Qcode loop, and resetting cmos gets me out of there all of the time. Running memtest overnight gave me an "Unexpected interrupt - Halting CPU2". I've also tried re-seating the CPU, making sure that there are no bent pins (or that the CPU isn't bent), and making sure that the cooler isn't on too tight. I've screwed it in all the way but didn't force the screws further than they would go with just turning it with a light grip. I've tried various RAM stick combinations in different slots, with the same result. I'm also using onboard HDMI out for now as I can't afford a graphics card just yet. I'm wondering if this is a bad CPU, or if my motherboard needs to be RMA'd. I'm confused and frustrated, and out of ideas. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys. Edit: Is it possible at all that the giant CPU cooler damaged the CPU and/or the socket? It was working for a while and then stopped while I was installing software, which prompted me to assume Windows just crapped itself, and reinstall it.

My current computer consists of the following items; x99 deluxe motherboard Haswell E Intel Core i7 5820k Quad DDR4 Corsair Dominator Platnium 2888 MHZ gtx 980 corsair 860i psu currently has Windows 10 Pro From the day I first built my computer, I have never been able to install my WiFi driver. I have my Bluetooth driver installed and working properly, but when I try to run the WIFI driver setup (as admin), it will show a little window showing the drivers installation for about 1/2 a second then it disappears, and that will be it. I've updated all of my drivers to the latest stuff (Even my Bios), I've contacted Asus about this problem (Just a bunch of people from India who a very hard to understand). I have also wiped everything on my computer's hard drive and nothing has happened. Since the Bluetooth is emitted from the router piece connected to the back of the mother board, since my Bluetooth works, it must be a software problem. I've been running my computer with a Ethernet cable since I have bought it, and I will be heading off to college soon that will not have Ethernet in the rooms, so I will need WiFi. I have also tired to reset my CMOS, did not work. This has been an issue that I could not solve the problem to and I am in dyer need of your help. Thank You
