Ok so i have a WD blue SA510 2.5 inch sata ssd. It was being used as a boot drive for an old office hp workstation that i had refurbished and it did this for a little over a year, until it just stopped working, i took the drive out and plugged it into my laptop using one of those usb 3 to sata adapters and it shows up as not initialised. I'm considering using Disk Drill to try to look into the drive as i only really need one important excel sheet. The rest of the stuff would be good but not really needed. Any advice? original thread which died and I don’t understand: could use some help

Hi everyone, I was playing F1 23 HDR for 1-2 Hours, shut down my PC and got some Food. After turning my PC back on, I noticed a vertical while Line of Pixels across the Screen. It is even streaking beyond the normal Display-Output of my PC, probably for Pixel-Shift Im guessing? I thought this was an issue with my GPU/Cable at first, but when I replaced the Cable and tried a different Output-Device it was still present, so I looked in the Monitor-Menu without anything being connected. - It was still there... Then I reran Pixel-Cleaning a couple of times and even reflashed the Firmware, all to no avail sadly, so I started an RMA with the Shop where I bought it. I also wondered if it was damaged somehow, but I did not see any Marks indicating Damage from the Outside on the Monitor. Has anyone experienced a similair Issue? Some Pictures of the Issue attached!

BACKSTORY: Hello! I woke up the other morning to the sound of my son trying to create an electrical fire with cola and 120v ac. I narrowed his system down to being okay aside from a dead evga power supply which seemed to be tripping a coil. Having a spare Seasonic SSR1000GD on the shelf, but far overkill for his i5-8400 and 1650 setup, I pulled the m12 Evo 2 unit out of my pc and put it in his case. This of course left me needing to install a unit in mine. THE PROBLEM: With the SSR1000GD I noticed only too late that it had third party cables (i bought it from an IT clearance), but they're not labeled. I intended to buy cablemod cables after new years, but would like my PC in the mean time. My question is, does anyone have a pinout for the 24 pin and other style connectors for the motherboard? This way I can verify my PSU cabling is correct, and can be used without component killing risks involved. I'm adept with wiring, but my experience is automotive and I'm not sure where to find a good source for pinouts, but my fluke and I are ready if anyone can help. Thanks so much for taking the time to read, and any insight provided. TLDR; I need motherboard pinout so I don't fry my shit with aftermarket cables.

i have a dell XPS 8940, came with a gtx 1660, i got it for cad work but found out it runs games on lower setting very well. i used it for 2 years of university but all of a sudden its stopped working. So, night before the issue, i was watching YouTube, powered down normally, the next day however i got a black screen on boot then it booted up again and stared using the internal GPU, apparently my PC could no longer see my 1660, i tried to install new drivers thinking id fell behind on updates but i got the error: not compatible with this version of windows..... now if i boot the pc with the 1660 installed it get power for a second then dies, no power at all, and wont turn on. when i take the 1660 out, remove the CMOS battery for 15 secs and reboot it runs perfectly fine (using internal GPU) what could possibly be the issue here!? im stumped... extra: when im on chrome it works, YouTube is fine, but as soon as i open Netflix (on chrome) and log in, the screen goes black, EVERYTIME! forcing me to restart the pc by taking the power supply line out and removing CMOS battery before booting again.

Hello all, I recently bought a PSY CS900 1TB so I could have more storage on my PC. I plugged the PSY and assigned it to drive D. I installed Acronis and wanted a backup or so I thought. I left the cloning run for 2 hours and came back and now my PC won't even start. Is my PC dead and is there any way to retrieve my drive ? Please help with any input. Thanks !

I have a 780 strix that doesn't work. With everything plugged in the card's fans spin up to 100% and there's no output. Using the igpu of an i7 6700 I see that the pc works although with the gpu installed the pc experiences weird behavior such as but not limited to windows crashing. When windows did manage to boot for once the gpu wasn't properly detected by windows but it knew that a device was present. Swapping the gpu for a 1060 6gb or omitting the dgpu entirely the pc works fine. I also noticed a dent in the gpu shield near the pcie connector and a small scratch on the pcie lanes themselves. I opened the gpu to look for anything obvious but didn't find anything. any help is appreciated

I've been experiencing frequent problems with the laptop, What's happening is that it works well for a period of time no overheats or anything but then suddenly it just dies(not while in use) and after removing battery and doing residual electricity drain thingy and leaving it as is it starts working again(no guarantee when it start working after the thingy), I also have this problem that headset rgb stays on even when laptop is shut down and if i leave the headset rgb long enough(till.....i believe when the battery is discharged) the dead laptop problem fixes somehow Now onto the present situation So the laptop was working properly just yesterday and i shut it off and now that i want to turn it on its..dead Dont know what could be causing this problem, I have also tried disconnecting the battery(directly from the motherboard) and then trying to run it but it still didn't work Also by dead laptop I mean that no charging lights, no power on,no blinking, no nothing I have an Asus rog strix g15 g513 (2021)

Hi All I have an Intel i5-11500 CPU that seems to be dead. The symptoms, Motherboard gets stuck on the VGA motherboard LED indicator. Even with a GPU and not using the onboard graphics it still doesnt get passed VGA Gigabyte board isnt passing ether D0 or 00 debug code hard to tell based on the debug code. The CPU does heat up i did remove the heat sink and could feel it getting really hot. Things I've tried. I have an Intel i5-10500 in a Gigabyte Z490 Vision D. I swapped the 10500 into the Gigabyte Z590 Vision D and the motherboard booted and worked. I updated the BIOS to the most current BIOS F9a. I put the 11500 into the Z490 board and it wouldn't boot, even after that board had being updated to F22c. I tried running the CPU with just 1 stick of memory and moving the memory to different slots but when the 10500 was in the board it booted with all the memory. I did think for a while it was the motherboard but given the 10500 works it seems to be the 11500. Does anyone have any other ideas i could try, if not i will be taking the CPU back to the store because its still covered by warranty on Monday. Thanks.

Hi LTTstore LTT Forums Kinda new at picking my own parts, so apologies for the possibly stupid and easily googlable question. The backstory: My PSU recently kicked the bucket and didn't manage to shock the rest of my system (Though it sure seemed to give its best effort, but ultimately rolled a nat 1). Loaned a PSU from my friend and everything else works, yay! Now I need a new PSU, but not sure on how to choose one. The recently deceased one was picked by someone I'm not in contact with anymore. I'm running the following: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Nvidia RTX 2060 super 2 x 32gb, CL16 3600 MHz RAM The question: I've calculated the needed wattage to be just shy of 400W with my specs. How many W's should my new PSU be? The only thing I'd like for the PSU, is to be modular, as I'd rather not deal with the overabundance of cables I don't use clogging up my case. I'm not fond of cheaping out on a PSU, but I'm not that fond of buying one that would be overkill for my system (Or one that would be "Future proofing" aka larger wattage in case I want to upgrade) EDIT: I'd also like it to be around the 100€ price point, as this happened at the worst time financially Thank you for your time, Peter

Hi, I plugged in my USB stick into my computer and it restarted it. Once it loaded it wasn't showing up even if I took it out and back in. I then put it in my laptop and I could then see it and I then could open stuff inside, thinking it was all good I put it back in my main pc but got nothing, not even the light showed on the USB stick, I went back to the laptop and then got nothing again. I have tried other USB sticks and they still work. When I touch the USB when I plug it in it gets warm still but there is still no light or sign of it on my computer (disk manager, device manager etc). Its like it stopped working, then worked, then just stopped working again. I am going to try some more machines in the morning, any help would be nice (if there is any to give). Is this stick dead, it isn't that old and it is one of my favourites.

Hello there. Original post found here: Help dead vega 64 - Hardware / GPU - Level1Techs Forums After recently building my first PC at university, I thought it'd be a wise idea to try and hybrid cool my GPU (Vega 64), since it's heatsink was slightly damaged causing overheating. So I attached a coolermaster ML120 liquid cooler on the card but no VRM heatsinks, thinking it would be alright so long as I didn't push the card, and it actually worked for a solid few mins under Furmark. However after leaving it ON IDLE for about an hour, I come back to see my GPU completely dead. Anyway, I only brought the gpu home and plugged into a test rig to probe it with a multimeter. Whilst I know the core is still alive, the VRM phases all read 0V as if there's something wrong with either a driver IC or a Voltage controller. The only positive reading i'm getting off the card is the PCIe power rail, at 12V and the 1.8V rail, which for me is at 1.73V. Literally all the other surrounding phases read 0V I don't exactly have access to the PCB specifications, so i'm kinda stuck on where to go from here and figure out which specific component needs replacing in order to fix my card. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

This graphics card is coming up on 7 years old and heavily used. Model is a Gigabyte Windforce GTX 760 and randomly stopped working one night. At first only one fan was spinning and there was no display output, but after blowing some compressed air at it all 3 fans started to work, but at max speed and still no display output. I took it apart and didn't see any noticeable damage, and I even cleaned all the dust with some isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. I'm 99% sure it's dead and unrecoverable, but I wanted to ask people if there was any last resort options I could try to fix it. I really don't want to buy a new card with the prices of even a 1650 being in excess of $300 so any help is appreciated.

I have had a Palit Gtx 1080 Gamerock (not premium) for about 4 years, it was unlikely to have reached a temp above 70degC. Went to start my pc today and none of my monitors came on. Graphics card didn't light up or spin. I've ruled out my power supply and have tried the card in another pci slot and still nothing. The slots are also confirmed good as I tried an old card in both. Given the current buyers market for graphics cards I'd be grateful of any suggestions to try and get this thing back online.

Hello all, My setup is pretty much brand new(i5-10400+ new 144hz msi monitor), excluding my trusty EVGA GTX 970. Please see video for description of problem. ~No issues at 60hz whatsoever~ This started first at just 144hz and now even switching to 119hz makes the PC unusable. If I remote access in from my phone, none of these artifacts are visible at all and I can use the pc normally no matter the refresh rate. I have attempted all the usual remedies: temps/load are not a problem, reseated GPU and untightened the CPU cooler. Cleaned all the ports. Tried 3 different HDMI cables, 2 DP cables and all the port combinations I could. EDIT: Latest Geforce Experience drivers are installed. I've recently been experimenting with resolution scaling through NVIDIA control panel for CSGO but I can't imagine that's the problem. Is the 970 toast? Defective monitor? Would appreciate any help 20211204_214947.mp4

( Second time writing it here as I CTRL Q'ed instead of CTRL C) Hello all! I just finished my new Gaming PC yesterday, with the help of a Techspert to make sure it was done properly. After assembling it we found that when we clicked the power button, all of the PC would light up and look like it was alright, but shortly after ( Around 1 second )it would turn off. We still have no clue to what it was, even though we had both taken it fully apart and plugged everything back in twice. Cpu was reseated, PSU un mounted then re mounted to make sure nothing else was plugged in, then installed. Tried to install new BIOS, did not work, then tried to uninstall and reinstall the CPU, still did not work. ( CPU was brought in for free by the techspert as he is a family friend, and he tested the CPU, and it all still worked. We think it might be a defective motherboard / ram but please feel free to ask questions! SPECS: CPU: Intel Core I5 7500 LGA 1151 GPU: MSI Golden Edition GTX 980TI MOBO: ASRock H310CM-HDV RAM: Viper Steel 8GB 3000Mhz PSU: EVGA 600W W2 (100-W2-0600-K3 (Uk) ) STORAGE: SeaGate BARRACUDA 1TB All help would be appreciated!

Hi all, I have an old Fire Phone from launch (you may laugh). A year or 2 after I got it, I left it out in the rain. Haven't bothered since to try and fix it or anything, considering it won't turn on and it was left out over night in the rain (I can't believe I could even do something like this). Anyway, just for fun I thought I'd try to retrieve the data off of it to see my cringey photos from 2014. I already own phone repair kit with the relevant screw bits and everything. Again, I'm sure this is a total wash if the mobo is fried, and I don't really know how storage works on a mobile device. I've tried connecting it to my PC with USB and it's not reading anything. Replacement batteries are only like 10 bucks on Ebay. Any thoughts? Thanks for any help you can give.

UPDATE - I have bought the Corsair RM 750 power supply and installed it after a bit of fiddling around with the cables - and it works now! Everything works flawlessly once again! --------------------------------------------------- So... Just a few minutes ago, i was casually playing Team fortress 2, when my PC turned off without any warning. In my fuse box, the breaker for the outlets of my living room were down, off. After a call with my somewhat tech savvy brother, he and I tested around on the socket and... Everything worked, except for my Computer. Now, the power supply I used in my PC was an old 600 watt LC Power PSU. I have.. no idea how old it was. But all i know now is that my PC won't turn on, and I'm very stressed out about it now. How will I do home office now? How will I game? More important, what the hell do I do now? Like.. how do I know that my components aren't fried? As soon as I have money I'll get a new power supply that actually is reliable.. but what do you guys think? Anything I should do? Thank you.

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my PC so need as many ideas as possible but I'll kick it off with the specs: CPU - Ryzen 7 3700X GPU - RX 5600 XT MOBO - ROG B450-F Strix RAM - Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 16GB(2x8GB) @ 3200MHz PSU - Corsair TX-650M Ok so here's the problem, I was using the PC and it randomly just shut off and when I turned it back on the fans spin and RGB turns on but the screen stays black and there's no power going to the keyboard mouse since the lightning on those doesn't turn on. There are times when it does turn on but then it just shuts down randomly again. I thought it might have been there PSU so I swapped it out for a CX-500 but the same issue occurred. Then I tried swapping the GPU for a GTX 1050 but again, same issue. I've reseated the RAM and that hasn't worked so I think it might be the motherboard or CPU but need some help trying to determine the issue. I've ordered a B450 Tomahawk Max and will test that but I have a feeling it could be the CPU. If anyone has had there problems or any ideas please share, thanks! Oh also I have cleared the CMOS and it works fine but then it shuts down like 5mins into using it again

3 days ago, I was on my pc and it suddenly shut down with an electrical smell. It couldn't boot after that, psu:( cooler master V 650 Gold White Edition) I checked the psu by plugging in a metal wire into the 4th and 6th hole of the 24 pin and the fan wouldn't spin Mostly I just need it rmaed but it's now lockdown in my area and I don't think its gonna get better in 6 months or so, so I can't go to the retailer to get my warranty(7 months old) Anyway I can get rmaed through Cooler Master?

Hello all, a colleague approached me about her personal laptop not booting up. Long story short her drive appears to have completely failed. Her laptops bios indicates no boot device is present. I removed the drive and placed it in a a USB enclosure which should be compatible on paper: This is the enclosure I used There was no drive activity at all. Windows only recognized the enclosure and macOS didn't recognize the drive either. I'm out of my own resources that I have to attempt to get data off of this drive. I was just wondering if there was anything else I could try to attempt to get this drive up and running at least enough to get the data off it. If not this thing is off to drive savers. Drive model: MZ-NTY2560. Appears to be just a regular SATA M.2 2280 drive.
