I have this CPU spike issue that started in my computer about 2 years ago. What the CPU does is spike up about 10% in the middle of a game, a program or just running windows for no reason, then continues to run normally for another 2 minutes then does it again (the result of this spike usually drops me down to 2 fps for half a second then runs normal afterwards). I have wiped the same drive a few times, reinstalled windows, and just did the same thing onto an m.2 drive and it is still doing this. I originally had an i7 7700 processor with a z270killer sli/ac motherboard that had some D-Ram compatibility issues (NOTE I swapped motherboards with the same processor and nothing was resolved), and I now have a i9 10900KF with a MSI z490 gaming edge motherboard where it continues to do the same thing. I changed the ram out for something with more memory nothing changed. The GPU does NOT spike when the CPU does. I have changed out my 1080ti graphics card with a 2080ti, then back to the 1080ti and nothing changed when either card was in. I most recently changed the power supply from a Corsair RX750 to a Corsair RX850 and nothing has changed. I am beyond boggled at what needs to be fixed. Only thing I can think of is that there is something on a hard drive that I still have on my computer but I cannot imagine what. I look forward to any possible resolutions

[URGENT] [LONG READ] Hello. The past few days have been so stressful for me because of my computer problems. For starters, my computer is a 2015 HP ProDesk 400 G3 SFF. It has served me faultlessly for the past 5 years. The problem started when my computer just randomly shut down whilst I was watching a film on my computer. Of course, it automatically restarted. But just a few seconds in, there suddenly was 3 red blinks and beeps, then 2 white ones on the power button. My screen kind of froze, as well, and my keyboard and mouse suddenly stopped working. I immediately unplugged the computer, and checked the PSU and CPU heatsink. The PSU was fine, and was just in normal temp. The CPU heatsink though, was burning hot. I grabbed a screwdriver, and removed the CPU fan and heatsink to check whatever happened. I then saw that the thermal paste was chapped dry. I wasn't quite alarmed as I thought it must have been natural, as the computer is already 5 years old. I also checked on HP's official support page what the blinks and beeps meant, and found out that it was an error code meant to help warn and troubleshoot computer problems. I found out that my error code 3.2 was signalling CPU overheat. So I was like, "ah well that confirms and settles it.". I thought all I had to do is re-apply thermal paste. So I ordered thermal paste online (we're on quarantine, can't go out). Took 3 days to arrive, and when it did, I immediately went on to work and re-paste my CPU. After re-pasting I kinda let it settle in first for about 10 minutes before I decided to use the computer again. After using it, it then again overheated and the error code blinks were there again. So I was kinda taken aback and decided to check what the hell I did wrong. I figured that I might have added too much paste. So, I cleaned off the newly applied paste, and re-pasted again. Now with just a pea-sized paste on the CPU, and 3 lines on the heatsink. I then again let it settle first for a few minutes before turning the computer on. It worked fine, and there was no longer overheating issues. Within around 30 minutes of usage, it just suddenly shut down again. I was just bamboozled at that moment. Like before, it automatically restarted. And yet again, with just a few seconds in, the blinks started again. This time it was 5 red blinks, and 2 white ones. I, again, checked it in the official HP support site, and saw that it was a "system board" error, particularly "The embedded controller cannot find valid firmware.". The listed solutions are: 1. Remove any recently inserted Hardware. 2. Reset CMOS. 3. Update BIOS while removing affected components. 4. Test known good component. 5. Replace component or system board as needed. So I started doing it. I turned off the computer, and unplugged the AC adapter/wire from the PSU. I removed the CMOS battery for about 30 minutes to let it reset. Put it back, then I turned the computer on. I went to the BIOS setup and found the BIOS update part. Clicked it. Downloaded the update. And just as I was about to reboot it after the update download, my computer just suddenly shut down. I tried it again and again, and really, it just shuts down right at that moment when I'm about to click the reboot button. It's like it doesn't want me to update it. Guys, what should I do? How can I fix this? I really hope there is something I can do, and that it is nothing major as I don't exactly have the budget to make a major repair, let alone buy a new one. This is also pretty urgent as this is for my online schooling and some work. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thanks in advance if your to help me with this problem!

Specs: GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 CPU:Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz RAM: 16 GB OS: Windows 10 The story: Recently I have tried to launch a game on steam (Such as New World, War Thunder, Sea of thieves), and for some reason I get a black screen (The entire screen, not just the game. I have two PC screens) whenever I get into the game. Oddly enough, I still hear the games audio in the background (With an occasional Windows Notification when this happens) but I was left with no choice but to restart my PC. My PC also makes that noise you would expect when it is overheating at least from what I could tell. Doing anything else besides launching a game whether its watching videos or using Discord it works fine. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the Graphics driver (Geforce Experience) but this didn't work. Though, while reinstalling the driver, Windows Security claims that I have a trojan which doesn't make sense to me but I removed it regardless (Or quarantined it). One of them however mentions that it is affecting a Nvidia file I tried setting my power plan to high, I disabled that 'Windows Game mode' along with State power management and nothing worked. I unplugged and re-plugged the RAM, CPU and GPU and still no luck. I eventually tried to rollback Windows updates since this started occurring a few days ago around when I got a Windows update. Windows Security and such. I tried to uninstall them, I got some but the PC absolutely refuses to allow that option. It DID actually work for a bit, but then I got the Black screen again. I tried to use advanced options to uninstall the Windows Features, or Quality update but the PC can't do it. To make this even stranger is the fact my external hard drive where I keep most of my games in, sometimes does not pick up and restarting the PC somehow fixes it. (My Windows is in the other hard drive, its an SSD card). I am tempted to try and reset my PC to see if it could work, but I need advice...anyone has suggestions on what I could do or what I am missing?

Specs: GPU Geforce 750 ti CPU INTEL|CORE I5 4460 MB MSI|B85M Gaming Matx PSU EVGA|850W RAM 4Gx2|CORSAIR So a week ago It stopped booting randomly one morning and would turn its self off and freeze when I would try and boot it(wouldn't get past BIOS). I reformatted the HDD and put windows back on it and it worked fine for a week. It now started to do it again but I don't know what the problem is if the RAM is bad or if that HDD is bad. It has never slowed down or froze or blue screened or anything just happened out of the blue. The HDD I have never had a corrupt file or any trouble. I don't know what the problem is. I would take it to a store since I don't know what the problem is but they charge 75$ for a Diagnostic which is crazy. I have a 1TB HDD and a 300GB. The 300 is the one that has had windows on it both times and the one that i think is failing. I checked everything in BIOS made sure my cable didn't malfunction. The SATA port the 300 was plugged in to wasn't picking it up when this started happening the 2nd time but I plugged it in to another SATA port and it detected it. But I just have no idea at this point cause its not the CPU, GPU, or MB. So any thoughts would be nice to help me fix this be for I start replacing stuff

Hey so I decided to build my own computer a few months back it was working fine and dandy until last week. Im on the windows 10 upgrade software from windows, I have no DVD drives available to me so setting up the operating system was no less than a nightmare. So last week I was having a late night game of CIV 5, running the game paused it and put my computer in Sleep mode, I woke up to a power cut and turned on my PC to find it was playing up. It stated the Download and desktop was not in this location, I went to properties reset it to default and everything was back to normal. Yeah apart from it wasn't for some reason none of my data saves such as options in games, my download glitch around, programs such as Utorrent upon launch states a HTA error and several glitches in other programs. I then try to reset my operating system back to factory default to see if it would help with anything and the PC just failed to reset, I tried several options however all failed, the hard drives are brand new and I simply cannot afford to buy new ones. System specs: Gigabyte Z97-HD3 Motherboard Intel i5 4690k 4.5ghz overclock CPU DDR3 1337Mhz RAM 1TB Hard Drive 650W Cosair 90% power supply Gigabyte windforce 3 R9 280x GPU Thanks Nathan

Any questions I'd be happy to answer in order to resolve this issue.

Ever since the death of my Radeon RX 460 and the entrance of my GEFORCE GTX 1050ti, a select few of my games after ~5 minutes of gameplay started freezing. But, they froze in a weird way that I cant fix or understand. The screen will act normal, but then out of nowhere the screen will stop moving and be stuck on a single frame of the game. The most confusing part is that the game continues to play (I can hear from the audio). For example, in CounterStrike:GlobalOffensive, the screen will be stuck on a frame in game but I can still hear my player run, jump, and shoot. IT EVEN HAPPENS IN THE MENUS. I've tried what seems to be every option to fix this but nothing has worked. I tried... Resetting my computer (But keeping my important files) Uninstalling and Reinstalling all games and Steam Verifying game files Restarting my PC Running Diagnostic checks Physically tearing down my setup to find a solution Updating/installing drivers I've definitely done more but i cant remember what they all are right now... The games that I have played recently that have this problem include CS:GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) Rocket League Liftoff (An FPV Drone Flight Simulator) The one that surprised me the most was Liftoff as it is no where near what someone would classify a game as "Graphics Intensive" There are however two games I have played/tested that havent crashed (yet...) The Drone Racing League Simulator (Another FPV Drone SIM) CS:S (Counter-Strike: Source) I am so frustrated that I cant find a solution to this and this is my last option. if anyone can help me that would be AMAZING!!!! My Specs: OS Name: Windows 10 Home Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 3001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 8.00 GB GPU 1 (This one replaced my old AMD GPU): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU 2 (This one came with the PC): Intel(R) HD Graphics 630 If anymore info is needed I can give it... THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, my computer is making a buzzing noise and it's quite load as well. At first I thought it was the power supply, because when the computer was turned off the noise was still there, it only stopped when I turned the power supply off. However I bought a new power supply, but the noise was still there, I think it was not as loud know. The buzzing noise is not all the time, quite rarely to be honest, however is annoying when it does it. Any thought on what I can do?

So as of late my PC has been having issues, they include things such as the overclock on my FX-4300 not changing, not matter what I change it to, it always just clocks up to 3.9GHz and never higher even if it's being stressed and I have been randomly losing power to stuff like my USB keyboard and mouse, any thoughts?

Ok, so this all started when a few days ago when i was playing WoW. When i would load into the game my computer would completely just turn itself off with no error message or anything. Turns out this happens with any other big game (Overwatch, Planetside2), but my computer didn't turn off when i played besiege or League of Legends. I have tried contacting blizzard support and they told me to remove malware and update drivers and so on. I have done all that but it still happens, and now they are just telling me to do the same thing over again. I am starting to think it is a an issue with a part in my computer. I have cleaned it out as well as i could. i applied new thermal paste, and even found out my front intake fan wasn't plugged in. I have checked my temperatures with CPUID HWMonitor and the temperatures didn't seem to be high at all. Sorry if i posted this in a wrong place or something, i just want my computer to work again.

I was wondering what exactly is wrong with the graphics and such, at first I was thinking it was just the monitor, then after getting a different one nothing improved. Honestly after getting the newer one, the graphics continued to get worse. I would really appreciate the help and everything please and thank you. I added some pictures if that'll be any help with this.

Hi, this is my pc: MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 RAM: G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) CPU: AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) STORAGE: Seagate ST1000DX001 1TB Desktop Solid State Hybrid Drive CASE: Corsair Obsidian 750D VIDEO CARD: XFX Double D R9-280X-TDFD Radeon R9 280X 3GB 384-bit OP: Windows 7 64 bit POWER SUPPLY: Rosewill HIVE Series HIVE-750 750W CPU COOLER: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Over the past half of a year or so my computer, (when ever I turned it on), has started up for a second or two only to turn off, then to turn back on and then stay on. I've always ignored this problem because it always sounded like my power supply was possibly the problem but after this happening one morning and then getting a blue screen saying that my computer couldn't boot correctly, it started to scare the crap out of me. But, right after it blue screened I tried to turn it back on and it did boot the second time,(with the normal on, off, and on). So, hoping that is was a fluke I kinda ignored it and then turned off my computer to go to school. Only to get home and have it blue screen again. Now, I'm writing this hoping that someone will help me. I've spent just about all of my money on my computer and to have it completely brake would be really, really, really, really, really, really suck. I have no idea if it's a grounding issue or a hardware issue or a software issue. Also, I haven't changed my cpu or have tried running the system outside of the case yet, (as I have no idea if it will change anything). Any advice that would help me would really be appreciated, have a good day
