So basically I just got an i7 9700k to replace my i5 8600k for my z370 Aorus Gaming 5. I bios updated it to F15b, F14, F12, and F10 all doesnt boot. Error code 78 keeps popping up and sometimes 62 but doesnt get pass the Aorus screen. A0 once but doesnt get pass that screen too and can't go into bios. F15b initially made my screen really stuttery and also like scratchy as if the connectors were not connected properly. When I switched into bios F14 it went into bios but when i left bios "bi initialize library failed 0xc0000229" popped up. Last but not least, i ran it through the f12 bios but it keeps flashing C1 and even after i insert my RAM it still flash C1. When I put my i5 back in it works perfectly. I got the cpu off ebay and its from a relatively high rating reseller. Does anyone know how can I troubleshoot this problem?

This site has been on the money with lots of Ryzen stuff. I am one of the few non-gamers or video editors in the forum and I am super excited for all news in regards to the "Intel Killers" AMD has been releasing. According to the article, we will get 12 14 and 16 cores. Speed will be faster than expected. We will see a preview within the next couple of weeks. It is apparently massive (just as she said) and will need special air-coolers (if it can even be air cooled). Then the article talks about coffelake and skylake-x and how they are good at overclocking (yawn) and that volta will release this year (yei?!). In a nutshell, AMD will continue to ryze in the cpu market but will continue to lag far behind in the gpu one. http://carbonite.co.za/showthread.php?t=158997 Happy to hear everyone's thoughts!

I'm about to start building a new rig with an i5 8400, so a quick question first. I have a CoolerMaster Hyper TX3i as a cooler, the questions I have are, what is the difference between that and the Hyper TX3 EVO? And, kinda obvious but, it will work fine on my CPU/mobo, right? Thanks!

Got that itch to build a new system as the first computer I built was getting a bit dated. Specs: i7 8700k delidded asus Maximus x hero wifi kraken x62 32gb trident Z rgb 3200mhz in xmp strix 1080ti samsung 960 pro 500gb 500gb western digital ssd 3tb hitatchi 650w evga supernova nex thinking about out getting some cable mod cables as I feel these stock ones are kinda meh. Also my first time with a k series chip and could use some advice with overclocking and any feedback on things I could have done better

So I'm going to be upgrading to an entirely new PC in about a month's time (currently running 3570k and RX580 8GB, the GPU will go into the new build), and I was planning on going with Ryzen because on the side from gaming, I do a lot of pretty heavy work in Lightroom, Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop, often running a few Adobe products at the same time. I also stream sometimes, too. Now I don't really follow PC tech much anymore so I was wondering if the new 8th gens from Intel are relevant to me at all or is Ryzen still the way to go for my needs? Cheers

i currently have a i5 7400 and i want to upgrade which one of those should i get i know a lot of people will say dont upgrade but my friend is going to us and things there are much cheaper so i can't waste this opportunity even if its a very little difference

So since the sku's dropped something that I though was a misstep on Intel's part is it appears that there are only 2 overclockable sku's in the coffeelake lineup. Cores/Threads Base clock (GHz) Turbo all cores/one core (GHz) L3 cache TDP Price (EU, inc VAT) i7-8700K 6/12 3.7 4.3/4.7 12MB 95W €388 i7-8700 6/12 3.2 4.3/4.6 12MB 65W €327 i5-8600 6/6 3.6 4.1/4.3 9MB 95W €273 i5-8400 6/6 2.8 3.8/4 9MB 65W €192 i3-8350K 4/4 4 – 8MB 91W €189 i3-8300 4/4 4 – 8MB 65W ? i3-8100 4/4 4 – 8MB 65W €123 This struck me as a huge opportunity lost as since all Ryzen sku's are overclockable, Intel has to start meeting them where they are at. It's nice they finally had their hand forced to give us more cores, and initial IPC and multitasking performance improvement look promising, but them not unlocking all their sku's or offering 8 core variants as well shows a lack of foresight to me.

Hello there, in a week or so I want to build a new pc, but i don t know what cpu should i be using. I have to choose a 180-200$ cpu for my budget. I have to choose between i5 8400 and ryzen 5 1600. If i go ryzen i will take a b350 mobo so i ll overclock the chip as far as possible, because i want the full potential for my money.. If the gaming result is 5 fps or so lower than the other it doesn t bother me, but i d want to stream 720p60 and i can' t see any stream test with the i5 8400, and i kind of do entry level productivity to. I mean i won t stream every day, and not very demanding games, but i need a cpu that is decent in doing that task. Should i wait to see more about coffe lake? What do you think? Wich of them are better for future proof?

So Intel finally launched the 8th gen processors and now I need some help with making a decision... I'm about to upgrade my PC from i5 4460, 8gb ram and msi z97s mobo to 32 gigs of ram, an asus mobo (depending on cpu of course) and either an i7 8700K or an R7 1700. I mostly do 3D modeling (in 3ds max) and a bit of gaming and I will overclock either one anyway (and I've heard that the 1700 is a good overclocker). My question for you: which one of these processors will be the best choice for me? Also consider the prices of my local hardware shop (where I will buy it eventually): - i7 8700K : €399,- - R7 1700 : €314,- The i7 is a lot more expensive than I thought it would be compared to the 1700, so even if the i7 is better, is it worth the extra €85? Thanks in advance!

I was planning on getting an i7-7700k for a new pc I'm building I was wondering if I should wait for the i7-8700k or just get the i7-7700k. I really want to get my new rig I have been waiting on it for a while and I don't know if waiting for the i7-7800k to get released and for it to be available where I live and the new motherboards with the Z370 chipset to get released. I really want to get my computer in the next week or so but if the 8700k is worth it I am considering waiting. Intel Ark 7700k vs 8700k So should I wait?

so as the title suggests I was wondering what would be the most cost effective motherboard to buy for the new intel i5 coffe lake cpu. I see some wildly varying prices and since I am already droping at least 280 bucks on the cpu I was wondering if I can skimp on the cpu.

Will the Asus Z370-A go well with an i5 8600k? I thought about one of the Asus TUF boards but the color scheme is quite odd and doesn't pair well with my build. Any other options or info would be greatly appreciated

Hello and thank you for reading this, As you've seen from the title, I'm wondering if my CPU can utilise all 4 ram slots from my motherboard. Since currently i have 2x4Gb, and would strongly appreciate some more ram, im wondering if i can simply add 2 more 4Gb sticks. At first i thought that i can, but just to make sure i went on intels website and saw, as you see in the picture, that memory type is ddr4 at 2660. So does that mean it isn't compatible with memory running at higher speeds? And it has a max number of channels of 2. So i guess my qestion is does my cpu support higher speeds ram than 2660 and can it support 4 ram sticks?

Hello everyone, I have this setup for about 9 months (it was brand new, no used parts) running on optimized cpu oc settings at 4.6ghz. Mobo is Asrock z370 pro4 and Coolermaster Masterliquid 240 is keeping it cool, kinda. I have never overclocked cpu before. After lots of tutorials and readings about cpu configuration settings, 5ghz was easy by letting mobo decide the voltage part, but it got pretty hot. Throttling at 93 celsius. I really don't want to mess with voltage part on my own, any advices how high can I go? Should I use offset or fixed voltage, LLC? Everything else related to voltage I barely understand. ? I would appreciate any help, thanks!

I have some questions about Turbo Boost Technology! - Is it a permanent boost? I mean will it be turned on always? - Do I need to Install custom cooler for locked turbo boost CPUs? I'm using Intel 8400 coffee lake CPU

I'm new to PC building and I read somewhere that Coffee Lake processors are not compatible with RAM that has a speed of above 2666 MHz. Apparently Coffee Lake processors can't profit from RAM speeds of above 2666 MHz. Is this really true or did I get false information?

So I recently got a z370 system up and running. The system is as follows: i3 8350K Asus RoG Strix Z370-F (newest BIOS as of 2018/5/13, so the LLC issues have been fixed) 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000Mhz ASUS RoG Strix GTX 1080 Noctua NH-12S with an additional fan Cooler Master V650 80+ Gold PSU CPU temps are higher than I'd like for a long term setup, cores maxing at 75-80c under full load, but still within reason for a smaller air cooler. I'm able to get my 8350K to 4,8GHz with default settings except: - XMP turned ON. - SVID behaviour = Best-Case Scenario (stock is "Worst-Case Scenario", third option is "Typical Scenario") - Sync All cores, multiplier set to 48 - CPU SVID Support = disabled - CPU Core/Cache Voltage = Manual mode - Manual Vcore = 1,290 V - Load Line Calibration set to Level 5 out of 7. I kept a quite detailed notes on the overclocking procedure. See spoiler for (possibly) more detail (than necessary). This was a really frustrating yet more than equally fun experience. However, there are some things that remain unclear to me: 1) How come an overclock seems stable at one point but after trying another overclock, it won't even initialize Windows with the same settings at a later time? 2) Do I have a golden sample? It seems stable at 1,290 VCORE. Referencing GamersNexus' review, I see they gave it 1,375V for stability. Is my overclock unstable or do I have a better chip than GN? 3) How do I know when a overclock really is stable? What are some good and safe ways to test for absolute (or at least practical) stability, and is that even possible? 4) Why does XMP seem to "trigger" instabilities? Or more precisely, why does my CPU seem to need more VCORE to stay stable when XMP is enabled compared to when XMP is disabled?

So I'm planning to build a gaming PC, at a budget of MAX 900, preferably less. I'm planning to use it as a general use PC (so I'm keeping it for a few years), with plenty of 1080p gaming, but a bit of video editing and rendering as well. Also, the cpu will probably be paired up with a 1060 6GB, or a 1070 if prices have dropped by the summer, and I can earn some more cashshsh AND it's not bottlenecked by the CPU. Point is, I'm not sure which cpu to get, and I've got a few questions: Firstly, I heard that you can actually use Coffee Lake CPU's on Z270 Motherboards, and seeing that Z370 is kinda expensive, I was wondering if there's a trade off, how it works...? Furthermore, I was confused as to if the Ryzen 2600 is overclockable? Anyway the CPu's I have in mind are: Intel i3 8350k Intel i5 8400 AMD Ryzen 2600 (x) AMD Ryzen 1600 (x) Intel i5 8600k (Although I feel it's overkill/ too expensive with a z370 mobo, could get it if i get extra cash instead of 1070) I know it's a lot of questions, thank you in advance!
