The family printer has been having problems forever, and it just gave up its last breath. (It is an EPSON XP-760) I know asking for a good printer in this era is laughable, but I really am super tired of bullsh*t printers. My question is if there is a colour printer that is reliable, has good driver support, a usable UI, and non-expensive ink/none at all? Subscription services and all that stuff are a no go!

Hi all- I am looking to buy a new printer for my house. I currently have an Epson XP-830 and the thing has been nothing but constant problems. I have never had a good print since it was new. The printer gets used a couple of times per week so I do not suspect the ink dried up or anything like that. The printer is constantly out of ink which makes no sense, I swear there is a timer internal on the printer and it just tells you its out of ink because they want you to buy more. The cost for a new set of ink is $50-$70 which seems expensive since I feel like I am constantly replacing it. When I print something, it always gets "scan lines" through it or random splotches of ink all over my paper. We had an Epson Artisan 710 before this printer and that one also had plenty of problems. I hate printers but I still need to keep them around. 95% of what we print is black and white so I do not think we need a color printer. I would be open to seeing options for both color and black and white though if you guys have suggestions. The only good thing about the printer we have now is whenever you need to make a copy of multiple papers there is an auto-feeder on the top of this printer. It is a nice to have, but not mandatory for a new printer. I would say 60% of our prints are shipping labels for things like ebay (black and white), 35% of the prints are text documents (black and white), and the remaining 5% are color photo prints. I have thought a number of times about getting a thermal printer for the labels, but they are so expensive! I think my best option is to go with a black and white laser printer, and maybe a thermal printer?, but I am not sure. What do you guys think?

Currently, I'm using a HP LaserJet Pro M102a which is a Black & White Laser printer and nothing more. However, I'm sorely missing having scanning functionality and colour printing would be much better at home than going to some shop and paying an exorbitant price. I've heard raving reviews about Brother Printers and I'm in the market for one, I'm not afraid to look for used ones as well. The printer should have: Scanning Functionality (dealbreaker) Colour printing (dealbreaker) wireless (optional, would be nice to have but not necessary) laser (ofc) I thank ye in advcance

Hi all- I am looking to replace our Epson XP-830 printer as the thing is literally always out of ink or broken (prints lines through my print). I've tried doing the head clean the alignment all the different troubleshooting tips to try and fix the printer. It fixes it for about 10 prints and then it does it again. I am not sure if this is because we are not using the printer enough or what. The printer probably gets used about once per week, mostly for printing things like eBay labels, but also for the occasional picture. I want to sell this printer we have and replace it with something more reliable and that still has good picture quality. The budget is around $400. I am open to buying printers on eBay if they are normally a $800+ printer, sometimes they can be found on eBay Open Box for around $400. I was looking at the Epson Ecotanks since you can refill the ink with the bottles instead of spending a bazillion dollars on their proprietary cartridges, but I think I hate Epson and dont really want to give them any more business. Is there really a big difference in quality of the print between a color laser printer and an inkjet printer? I've found a lot of conflicting information online. I was thinking about getting a laser printer since people say the quality seems to be better and they seem to be more reliable from my experience. For the most part I am printing in monochrome, but sometimes I need the ability to print in decent quality for some photos. This is why color is a must have. I would also prefer a printer that has the copier on the top for the occasional copies I need to make. For the laser printers on Consumer Reports I read that the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw and the Brother MFC-L3770CDW are both rated well, the brother being half the price however. This is so overwhelming and there are too many variables to take into consideration. I know someone will recommend just getting a thermal printer for my eBay labels, but those things are like $300 and I don't sell nearly enough stuff to justify the cost of that.

Hello again, Since my brother (older than me) is finally finishing university next year and heading off to grad school (no idea where yet unfortunately), I figured I'd help him build another PC for school, and allow him to not have to type long essays on a surface pro 2 screen (he's older and has mentioned he wants a bigger screen) So far I have assembled this, but may have to tweak a bit, since I thought AutoCad (or similiar 3d modeling software) would use more cores, etc, but actually does single core, and uses gpu instead.. *Will be building this next spring/summer, so parts will vary accordingly, and pricing. He also figures he'll use the surface pro 2 in class and use this for storage/gaming/computer stuff. Thought it would crush Autocad or any other 3d modelling software... CPU (Intel): Good CPU and can handle majority of tasks. Also decent for gaming on the side. MOBO: Good quality, from reputable brand. Has 4 dimm slots, and 6 6gb sata connections. RAM: 3000Mhz and cheap. SSD And Storage: Cheap and reliable. GPU: This is where things get wierd.. He will only be doing 1080 60fps for gaming due to the monitor being a 1080p 60fps display. Was thinking 1050ti (can handle this no problem, not overly overpriced, and a decent card.) But after realizing AutoCAD uses cuda cores.. I may look into a 1070 or better... was thinking of going to a 6gb 1060, but will have to see on how the prices are when I actually build this... Case: Meh case, has 5.25" drives (for him to create backups upon backups of important grad school stuff). and numerous 3.5" bays for additonal drives. Debating on spending more for a better case (CM case maker 5, etc.) Will take suggestions here. (Not flashy and somewhat small( Mid towers) PSU: Decent budget PSU that isn't garbage. Wifi card: Good card, personally use it and since he may not have access to a wired connection, will be helpful. Questions: Should I go for a cheaper cpu, and bump up the GPU to a better Nvidia card? (I.e. Pentium g4560 and a 1060+) Will AutoCAD actually use more cores, or is it better to go w/ a faster cpu (intel) that has better single core performance? Any suggestions? He said to not make it flashy (his old computer was basically a damn lightbulb), so not much rgb or colorful mobo's Would it be worth it to get WD Black over the seagate HDD for reliability? Would Ryzen 3 be worth it ($100 difference between the 1300x and the 1600, and 2c/8t)? Budget: ~$1000 CAD, prefer cheaper though. Interesting Note: His Old PC he built back in early 2000's has some cool old parts.. Intel Celeron D processor (PGA mobo) Nvidia Fx8300 1.5gb DDR1 RAM.

Yes poor me, preferably something off an Australian website which I can pay from here. Any idea to what I can gift him (By I, I mean my dad who is always in financial issue of sorts hence 50$) it's as a birthday gift, I know it makes me a terrible person not knowing what to get him but last I seen him is years and years back (Basically lost count at this point, vacation and visiting = $$) He is into tech so there is that and will be turning 26. Can somebody link an Australian website, where I can snoop around Basically What to gift with that terrible budget Australian websites I can look at which can deliver quickly to Sydney

Hey guys, somehow my Brother MFC 250C printer is not working anymore. When I plug it in I hear the windows sound like when I plug in a USB stick but when I want to print a file it does not show up in the printer list. I tried to install the drivers too but all I get is that it is not recognized in the list when I am in the install menu. Thank you in advance!

Welcome to my build log of my brother's custom PC! This is my brother's first ever custom PC, built on September 27th. My case of choice for my brother's new build is the DeepCool Frame, it's a standard £25 case that tries to cut you at every edge, but it's compact, light, spacious, and looked simple to work in, so this is what I chose for him. First is to pop off the side panels to reveal a cluster of cables and a drive cage, which I know I'll never use. The front has a 120mm fan space while the back supports 80mm and 90mm fans. I had neither, so moving on. Case prep was easy enough, taking off the PCI slot covers, side panels, and leaving only what was tied to the case's skeleton. Next is the motherboard. I chose the ASRock B450-M Pro4, it was a reliable, solid-looking motherboard that was highly recommended, so it's what I went with. The CPU of choice is the AMD Ryzen 3 2200G with its AMD Radeon Vega 8 graphics. It fell right into the budget of £300 nicely. The RAM of choice is the Patriot Viper 4, it's rated for 3000MHz and had nice price-to-performance being £77 at the time of purchase. As for the cooler, we stuck to our guns with the stock AMD Wraith cooler, it's simple and does the job, so there was no reason to spend extra for an aftermarket one. I let my brother apply the thermal compound as well as installing the cooler itself, I monitored him and the cooler carefully. Spoilter: I failed. Here's the part where it got slightly hectic. Back when my brother and I were deciding on parts - actually that was 90% me anyway - we didn't have enough budget for a storage device so we assumed we could use the old HDD from his old PC... No, no we couldn't. That HDD was on tight. So I begged my dad to drive me around town and hop to computer stores everywhere searching for some form of storage device. This began at 4PM. I eventually found a 240GB Integral V2 SSD that I bought for £60, and hurried on home. I landed back home at 6:30PM. I learnt where the SSD was meant to go, and so I installed it easily, and connected up the required power and SATA cables. So, with everything in order, I got the build up and running through my monitor, installed Windows 10, and got to the Windows screen. At this point, this is what the build looks like right now. It's a spaghetti mess up front, but that's all I could due to the non-modular PSU that is the be quiet! Pure Power 10. I opened up Task Manager, expanded the view, and behold, the Ryzen 2200G is on screen and we're set. I also made sure in the BIOS that everything was working and detected, and yes, it all checks out. I later changed the RAM speed to 3000 from the 2133 as shown. As it turns out, the 2200G was getting unusually hot, that I rushed back here to confirm that my temperatures were abnormal: Of course, I stopped the system, and my beliefs were true. My brother did in fact not screw the cooler in enough and as a result, the IHS didn't make any contact with the cooler. I redid the cooler, as per protocol. The finale is the big boss, the Cinebench test for the temperatures. The temperatures speak for themselves. Overall, I am happy with how this build turned out. It took us a grand total of five hours not including the quest to find a storage device. My brother will be sure to enjoy this new PC for his gaming sessions, and the total cost of £373.02. My brother officially now has a GTX 1050 Ti inside his PC! It's a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB single fan model, bought for £150. Relatively straight-forward, slotting the GPU into the PCIE slot, an install of drivers, and it was up! My brother decided to buy a new storage drive since he's already filled up hos 250GB Integral V2 SSD, and so he bought a 240GB Kingston A400 SSD! He now has a 250GB Integral V2 SSD and a 240GB Kingston A400 SSD inside his system, totalling to 490GB (where 460GB is useable) in his PC.

I need your help looking for a color laser printer. I would like laser over inkjet as I would save money and frustration. Does anyone have any suggestions? I prefer the brand Brother as I have never had any trouble with them. I am looking for an ALL-IN-ONE. I was unsure where to post this topic so forgive me if it should be somewhere else. Thanks in advance.

Hey all, So the title says it all, I need a pc for my brother. My brother is only like 8 years old however he is starting to get interested in pc games as he is already playing some of my steam games on my old laptop via family sharing. The old laptop is quite old and it is noticeable seeing the decrease in performance in that laptop. Minecraft used to work fine but now it lags on the laptop and so this is why I want to build a pc for my brother to play on. Some of the games he will be playing are Minecraft, Terraria, Lego worlds, gmod and other games that are child friendly (if you know what i mean). I don't want to spend much on this pc because of some money restrictions I and my brother have but I want it as cheap as possible but with good hardware to play these games at least medium settings at 30fps or more. So the max budget is £400 including windows. I live in the uk so please use amazon.co.uk or ebuyer! Thanks,

My younger brother wants a new PC, he will most likely use it mainly for YouTube and Browsing, but some games have to run too. I thought about a rig with a Q6600, 8GB Ram and a GTX 770 ( I will have one, because i´ll upgrade soon). His budget isn´t that high at about 300€, but as i said, he doesn´t need a graphichs card. I want to ask if there is anything better, because I don´t know that much about PC parts, and i don´t really have any time atm. Thank you for helping, jny (Sry for the bad english, i am from germany)

I want to build a gaming rig for my younger brother by Christmas, and am planning out what I want to go for. The only reason this is complex is because, well, I actually have a couple options lol. I have a R9 280 already lined up from a friend (who is upgrading to a 970 like me). I also plan on upgrading my case to a Obsidian 750d, and giving him my old case. Same goes for power supply, give him my 600B and upgrade to 750w semi-modular. The question is on processors. On Cragislist there is a guy parting out his rig, both an i5-2500k and MoBo for $150. I could go with that, or upgrade my own setup. 2500k to a 6600k. I could get it bundled - $350-$370 for CPU and MoBo. But according to what I've seen benchmarking, I might only see a fps increase of 10-20fps (only shown on cpu intensive games as well). I was planning someday on going sli 970s in the next bit, and upgrading cpus might kill my budget for that. Any suggestions? Amazing framerates are not the goal, but future-proofing is nice (I'd like it to last him a while). Please suggest anything, I got time to plan

Hello, everyone. I would like to know how I could outsmart my older brother, who is pissing me off lately. The thing is he can remove my access to the internet in like 5 seconds. Sometimes when, the connection gets slow, he will cancel my internet access, and when i ask him to put it back, its back in seconds. So I would like to know how he does it. For example when i leave home, and come back next day, he will remove my internet access. So his speed would be faster. But, he forgots to add it back in the morning, so i have to wait like 10 hours until the bastard wakes up. I have some thoughts how he is doing it, i think he logs in to the router via IP address. And then does something from there, but.. i dont get it how he can do it in 1 seconds, its like he has a hotkey to remove my internet or something like that. The router is on my table, so any help is appreciated.

Hey, I've had this problem for a while now and I can't find a proper solution to it so i thought I'd ask you guys for help. 1. LAG I enjoy playing FPS games and nothing is pissing me of more than lag. My internet is not the best but it's also not horrible: 10mbit/s download. The problem is that I have to use a VPN in order to connect to any servers (too complicated to explain now why). Idk if this influences my ping that much but I don't think that this is the main problem because I am getting about 50-80 m/s in most games which is alright for me. But I also really like CS:GO and I ALWAYS get 100+m/s and it's almost impossible to win a firefight because it's already really glitchy and laggy. I hoped you could maybe tell me the solution or tell me where i can find a solution to this problem because i couldn't find anything on the internet. 2. A problem which gets on my nerves even more because it influences every game is that my brother enjoys watching YouTube videos. Like, he enjoys them so much that he doesnt do anything else all day long. Since we live in the same house my ping always goes up to 250-600 m/s which makes every game unplayable. Since I am only 16 i can't afford to buy another router + pay for another provider. I wanted to know if there is any way I can still play my games with an acceptable ping while he is watching YouTube vids? I cant even express how aweful it is to not be able to play when you have time but only when your brother is not at home which is not that often. I really hope that you can help me, simx

In light of the all the current "big brother"/government-is-watching political mumbo jumbo that has recently surfaced, I thought this was a really interesting website that has complied some obscure Google Street View pictures. I'm not sure that all of them are real but I thought they were neat and share-worthy. Check it out: http://9-eyes.com/ How would you feel if you showed up on a Google Street View photo? What if you had just been pantsed or were in the act of an illegal activity? Or maybe the photo verified an alibi? Do you think that these types of pictures should be permitted in court?
