Summary BMW in 2020 thought they could place hardware in cars and then, as they claim, on an as-needed or continual basis you could pay for a subscription service to enable your seat heaters. Now, while they claim that the customer isn’t paying twice, the initial cost would have to be baked in somewhere right? They still intend to continue offering software based subscriptions, but not any relating to hardware. Quotes My thoughts This was a dumb idea to begin with. I could maybe, MAYBE, see if it was a one-time fee to activate them if you didn’t necessarily pay for them at purchase, but a consistent sub? That’s just silly. Hi, I don't feel like making an account on a car forum so Off Topic it is. 1. Step: Locate and drill out the dimples in the sealing insert. Make sure not to penetrate the 3,5 mm drill beyond the thickness of the plastic as this will damage the unlocking mechanism of the barbs that hold the piece in place or possibly the cable harness. Step: Insert into the drilled holes a rod such that the advancing side points away from the horizontal center of the insert. Once inserted about 2 cm push the rod's end you are holding away from the horizontal center of the insert. This unlocks the barb that hold the insert in place. Then pull on the insert away from the vehicle. Repeat this for all four holes. Step: Pull out the rear side of the insert first, then to the right and outwards to maneuver the hinge by the fender. (Ziehen Sie zuerst die hintere Seite des Einsatzes aus der Karosserie. Dann schieben Sie den Einsatz etwas nach hinten und außen, um das Scharnier hinter dem Kotflügel hervorzumanövrieren.) Step 4: Unplug the door switch and lock unit. (Trennen Sie den Anschlussstecker des Verriegelungsschalters.) Step 5: Gently lever on the three barbs of the charging indicator socket and lift it out. (Hebeln Sie vorsichtig die drei Widerhaken der Aufnahme der Ladeanzeige aus dem Weg, um sie zu entfernen.) Half Done Assembly is the revere of disassembly. (Einbau geschieht in umgekehrter Reihenfolge.)

Summary BMW to allow subscriptions for in car features, just like Linus predicted. Like heated seats and steering wheels in uk for £15 and £10 per month. Quotes My thoughts This would make cars heavy and less efficient for no reason if you don't want or need these features. Linus predicted this may become a thing, just like most he thought it would be Tesla who would introduce this but looks like BMW may have beaten them to it. I could see how some may like it on the second hand market letting you add features without the higher cost of having to install the equipment but I think most people are against this. From the album: Drifting Experience
My mate (who's more experienced than me), yanked the ebrake and drifted on 2nd gear. Damn it looks so beautiful from here. I still barely able to drift on 2nd gear -
BMW has revealed their newest hybrid electric vehicle that is projected to hit the markets in 2018 called the BMW 530e iPerformance (because everything needs a small 'i' in it's name somewhere). One of the unique points for this hybrid-electric vehicle over some of the previous offerings is that this one will have the ability for wireless charging. From the article at TechCrunch: https://techcrunch.com/2017/04/28/bmws-plug-in-hybrid-530e-iperformance-will-get-wireless-charging/ https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/article/detail/T0269733EN/the-bmw-530e-iperformance Looking at the specs on BMWs site you end up with electric motor output: 83 kW/ 113 hp 2.0 liter 4-cylinder motor output: 135 kW/ 184 hp Overall output: 185 kW/ 252 hp and peak torque at 420 NM (310 lb-ft) CO2 emissions are at 44 g/km Driving Range: 650 km (404 miles) Electric Driving Range: 50 km (31 miles) 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 235 km/h Battery pack capacity of 9.2 kWh. Fuel economy: 1.9 L per 100 km (148.7 mpg) BMWs information on the charging service: This is kind of neat in the fact that you don't have to worry about plugging in the vehicle to get your electric charge and if you are only driving for 30 miles or so in a day, you can just operate in a nearly all electric mode. I think my one major concern is the power output of the wireless charger... I wouldn't personally want to stand too close to it and might worry a bit about how this might affect other electronic devices... Anyone want to put their wireless charging phone on the pad and see if it instantly charges up or fries?

Holograms are often used in science fiction due to the sheer potential the technology expresses to the users. Companies have recently shown that they're looking towards a future that is making our fantasies reality. BMW teased the technology's presence in the vehicle that they will showcase to the world at CES 2017 The company has had some attempts at renewing and introducing features to vehicles and many of them include displays that can be utilized by the driver which makes holographic touch controls next on their list It will definitely be a step towards the future of the automobile and shows that there is something more than the touchscreens that currently end up in almost all the devices that are currently coming out of the factories. I am curious as to how soon this technology may arrive though I am not yet sure whether it will push through at all then again they do call them concept cars. Source: Slash Gear, Engadget

Doing countless searches but can't put my finger on what this part is called. I find names but then they lead to something else. All I want is the name for the left piece that is outlined in pencil and the other that has a red rectangle box around.

Hi! I am going to build comfy office chair from BMW E46 passenger seat. And I need to wire it from the seat to a power. But how? I've heard about a power supply, but where to connect it? Into that yellow port or where? Do you know something about it guys?

Ahoi there! As the title says I am looking at cars currently as I will soon buy my first car. I am not really a car guy in the way that I know all of the specific thingies, but I enjoy driving a lot. Currently I am tempted on getting a Bmw 1 or a Honda Civic Sport. My overall budget is 35k € but would maybe go up to 40k € if it would really be an worthwhile thing to do. The Bmw1 has a 118d engine and is an automatic car which I wouldnt mind as they are pretty decent in bmw's; and has the M-Kit and multiple other additional gadgets as they have a special offer going on. (Pdf provides them though some are in French words). The Honda Civic Sport Plus has a more extravagant look and more power and has manual gear, though it has less gadgets. It a bit cheaper then the Bmw. So which car would you choose? Looking forward on hearing your opinions! BMW Bilia - Emond - BMW Série 1 Hatch 2.pdf

A good price for an audi a4 from 2008 and up, basically the B8 Version or the Mk4. For the BMW It has to be over 2007, if you can find a 5 series or a 3 series thats also great. Basically every reliable second hand car that is a sedan and over 2007 year. My budget is 5K. You can use my local used market, like "pazar3" and "reklama5" or you can use any other countries second hand market but you will have to calculate the fees it takes to deliver and register the car in macedonia. For example if you find an audi a4 for 3K and it takes 2K to transfer and register. Then thats okay, and acceptable in my budget. Goodluck

Hey guys. I'm probably going to get a 328i in a few years. I was thinking to get black wheels, a carbon fiber wrap, and tinted windows. I'll add in a custom exhaust after a little while. How much of a fuckhead would I look like if I do this? My sister has tinted windows and black wheels on her 335i. Is the carbon fiber over the top? Thanks.

I remember a prior topic on LTT that discussed the merits of being able to control your car using smartphone based implementations and how there could be a probably security risk. Well, here it is and here is BMW fixing it up to prevent shenanigans from possibly occurring. Cars have usually been exceptionally secure pieces of tech, with so much proprietary code that people couldn't do much with but opening the code up to the ease of use of an app? Thats something that was never going to go over smoothly and without issues. Its important to note that BMW is ahead of the situation on this, pushing the update BEFORE someone did something mischievous. This is great to see from an automaker of all people, taking tech security so seriously to not sit around waiting for the blowback. All the same, I wouldn't get rid of the ability to start my car with my phone. Or my watch. Still worth it. http://www.biztekmojo.com/00235/bmw-fixes-security-flaw-software-made-22-million-vehicles-vulnerable-break-ins

So might have already been posted. But did anyone notice that Linus basically has the worst car in the company he owns. Now let me be clear, if you own a company it doesn't mean you're ultra rich or whatever. From the videos, Brandon drives a BMW either an X1 or X3 and Luke drives an Acura TSX that is basically the European Honda Accord. Yet Linus drives a Honda Civic which looks like cats sleep in it and from what I can tell it's from early 2000's. Don't get me wrong I love Honda cars I personally have the (European) Civic Sport from 2011. But seriously how? So just a thought. Let me know what you think about this...

BMW has an innovative plan to keep your(#pun) electric car keep running even if you're a 100 miles away from the next charging station, The company plans to developed street lights(current ones) that are modified to handle the power delivery to be equipped with sockets to charge electric cars through out the city.. The company has developed "Light and Charge" LED street lights that could keep your Electric car topped up (Beemer or otherwise) using existing urban infrastructure instead of dedicated power outlets and charging stations.. BMW has developed two prototypes that meld a LED street light with electric car-charging sockets. BMW's focusing on existing street light for this innovative tech instead of building a new one & placing the on the road for miles there by creating their own private network of charging stations , instead they went the other way around , because they want to reduce costs Plus It should be cheaper for cities to implement, BMW i8 BMW has developed some of the most advanced electric cars, including the i3 city vehicle and i8 hybrid. But electric cars as a product category have struggled to gain widespread popularity due to their limited operating range, the scarcity of charging stations and the time it takes to recharge them..This should put electric cars back on track (literally) & do it efficiently BMW i8 & i3 Electric cars shown below.. Current estimate is that it will run a pilot project in Munich next year that uses existing local authority lighting networks. Althought there is a catch to it , the electricity won't be free, and for the charges you will have to use a mobile app to pay for charging you do for the car evertime.. BMW executives recently met with rival Tesla Motors to discuss the availability of electric vehicle charging stations & In addition to developing street lighting, BMW has already invested into software and applications that help drivers of electric cars find a parking space and charging stations, including investments into Justpark and the SLAM charging network. Pretty cool news, What are your thoughts on this? Post a Comment or leave a rant down below... http://jalopnik.com/bmw-designs-the-ultimate-gaming-machine-510645699 BMW is usually known for engineering cars... but here's their vision of their own PC. It is designed such that it looks good whether it's upright or placed flat. It features magnetic side panels for quick access to the components, an LED sceen and knob combo in the front for quick access to the PC's stats (such as temperatures and CPU load) and fan control, and the corners can be used as handles. Quite interesting and all, but how many radiators can this thing hold?!

I personally like it. Throw an i5 4670K, Cooler Master GeminII M4 and GTX 770 MSI GAMING 3G in there and I am sold.
